I am an 18 year old who was prescribed mirena because the typical birth control pill would not be compatible with my blood clotting. I have been on mirena since July and I have an appointment to get it out in four days. I am thrilled. My experience with mirena has not been a good one. I am experiencing really harsh pains from time to time, pains feel worse than normal period cramps. A usually happy girl I have experienced such horrible mood swings, depression, and anxiety. In the past, I have never dealt with these issues before, but I blame mirena for causing them. I am giving my boyfriend so much credit for being with me because I seem to usually be very moody. This upcoming Friday cant come fast enough and I cant wait to get this thing out of me. I thought this device would be a dream come true, but now I understand why most of my friends are on the pill, and not on mirena. I'm incredibly grateful for this website because I don't feel like the side-effects are just from me being crazy.

I have been reading all of these posts and have another question. I hope that someone can help. My daughter, 8 years old, has been on Singulair since she was 4. She is normally a very happy girl with a wonderful disposition. For the last year or so, she has been having trouble getting herself to sleep at night. She says that she hears things in her head such as ringing or "noises". A few hours before she knows it's bedtime, she cries and when we ask her why she's crying, she can't give us a reason. We initially thought that she was crying for no reason because she didn't want to go to sleep. I remember reading about the side effects of Singulair causing mood swings, etc., but her's are not violent mood swings. Just very emotional and has a hard time coming down from the "episode". I'm at a loss...I have not talked to her doctor yet about it, but have told her that we will make an appointment this week to discuss it with him. My husband suggested that maybe it sounded like she was having a panic attack or anxiety attack. I hate to label her as that at such a young age. My mind now goes back to the side effects of Singulair and maybe this is to blame. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Concerned Mom

My daughter has been on Yasmin for a year and a half - it was prescribed for irregular periods and spotty skin. She is 15 and has had a year of nausea, leg cramps, hair loss, headaches, elevated heart rate, fatigue , irritation, angry outbursts ,dehydration severe moodiness and depression and lately- uncontrolled crying for no reason. She also sees black dots after exercising. She has gone from a happy girl who loved exercise to a grumpy couch potato! The doctor diagnosed it as a viral infection and suspected glandular fever - she missed a lot of school!
Today she had a day from hell - fought with a teacher and cried for hours. She also takes Ritalin as she is ADD- so I thought it was that - I decided to look up Yasmin and am so glad I did! What a great website! She has just taken a multivitamin and mag.phos - NO MORE YASMIN!!! Any advice on what she can use for her skin? and irregular periods?
A million thanks
Caron

i have been on Loette for almost a year now. I have not felt 'right' the whole time. I've been excessively emotional, had a lot more headaches, night sweats, swollen and/or tender breasts, decreased sex drive and difficulty having an orgasm, to the point where i was wondering what the hell was wrong with me. Also had moments of insane anger followed by depression. I had been off the pill for about 3 years, having previously been on Diane since I was a teenager for acne. I didn't realize how much I liked being off the pill until I went back on it! Now looking into alternative birth control options.

My son and daughter are both on singular. My son is extremely emotional and prone to "anger fits". He is ADHD and was diagnosed before starting the singular. In December we put him on Lexapro at the age of 8 bc he stated to his class and his brother "What do you want me to do? Just Kill myself?" He has been off the singular for 3 days now and I already have my son back. My daughter was in the hospital last week with a severe ashtma attack and the doctor does not want to take her off the medicine until May, she is not our happy girl while she is on this medicine. I am torn on not following the drs orders.

I was on the ring for about two years and after about one year I started getting little panic attacks but then they started getting really bad. i just to be a super happy girl who was always nice etc. I startd being bitchy to my friends and family for no reason...the panic attacks woudl come out of nowhere and they really scared me. so i took out the ring 5 months ago and since then my acne is out of control, i have gained weight that i cannot seem to lose and i have yeast infections (which i also had on the ring)...however i have not had a panic attack. my body just feels really weird...i feel gross all the time and i am constantly bloated. i thought going off the ring would help me...has anyone else gained weight or had weird problems after stopping the ring?

My 12 yr old daughter has been taking Doxy for 1 1/2 months to clear her mild acne. I thought it was the wonder drug because after 3 weeks her skin looked so much better, BUT then her skin started declining again, I can see the acne coming back. She's been complaining of pretty bad stomach pain, nausea and dizziness. I have also noticed major mood swings. She is usually a very happy girl, but now she gets moody and anxious more often than not. She is highly allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide, so she can't use Proactive or any other product with the same ingredients. After reading this site I will stop giving her Doxy immediately! Has anybody found anything that works for acne?
