I'm loving it.

After trying every HRT and pill under the sun for surgical menopause, and I'm in my 30's, I'm glad I've finally found something that makes me feel better.

Trust me here. Everyone is different and it may take you a thousand different medications until you find the right one, especially with hormones, but when you find the one that works for you life as you know it changes for the better.

Don't listen to that bollocks about HRT or the Pill causing you breast cancer and death... not having HRT or the pill etc can cause you just as many difficulties. Some of you may get osteopenia, vaginal atrophy, and other things that are very private. Let's face it, death can come after you even if you're not on hormones, just look at a children's hospital if you want proof.

I wish all of you suffering from hormonal conditions a healthy long happy life. I know the journey there is hard, but never give up. Just try something else. Even giving hormone therapy a break for a few months and then trying a different drug or approach such as a smaller dose.

Perhaps it's not even your hormones causing the problem, perhaps you should seek a specialist physician, immunologist, endocrinologist or just find another doctor that understands what they are doing and actually helps you.

All of the above saved my life. All of it. Together. It is a long hard road ladies but it's your life.

Blessings to you all.

I'm so glad I finally decided to search online for other NuvaRing user comments and found this website...I was starting to think I was going crazy! I have been using the NuvaRing for about 7 months now. It was a wonderful change from taking pills daily (or forgetting to take them). Recently though, I have been experiencing severe mood swings to the point where family members were asking me if I was okay. My husband told me I was snapping at him for the littlest things and I didn't even notice how rude or short I was being with him. I have also been feeling slightly depressed for no reason at all; I have a very happy life and nothing to keep me down, so I definitely think these are all side effects of the NuvaRing. I am taking it out and going to consult my primary physician for something else!

WOW!!!! I wish I found this website months ago!!! I started taking Yaz 8 months ago. I consider myself a very healthy person, I workout intensively 5 times a week, eat right and have a healthy lifestyle and wonderful people in my life but around 8 months ago I started getting sick all the time, feeling depressed and in a fog, not wanting to get out of bed, getting bad headaches all the time, increasingly anxious and stressed and gaining weight and not being able to lose it. I have a very comfortable and happy life and have nothing to be depressed about so I couldn't figure out why this was happening. I've gone to the doctor many times and had every blood test known to man done and still no answers, I even started going to a therapist. I couldn't figure out why I had lost interest in life and every day had become a struggle. No one ever considered it could all be related to a drug side effect. I called my doctor and I'm going to stop taking Yaz and hopefully this is the answer to what is going on with my body. I will keep you posted!

Hello all, I am feeling the bactrim pain. I came in for a staph infection which turned out to be the pesky MSRA. I have been taking 2 800mg tablets/day for about 5 days until I went back for a check up. My dosage was then doubled and to be continued for another 10 days. Also I was given 8 tablets of 150MG Cleocin because the staph wasn't clearing. All seems fine until about the 10th day of the continuation. I started tingling, iching from the ears then later noticed a rash developing down my arms, and back and chest. Now it is everywhere, even on more severely my legs and knees. Seems also folliculitis(infected hair follicles) are popping up with the hellish itchy red spotty rash that is everywhere. I went to the doctor for the rash today(day 2=much worse than day 1). The Doctor said it was an allergic reaction to the Bactrim. I remembered already asking the doctor from the last visit about 10 days earlier if i should be concerned with any allergic reactions. He laughed and said 'why". Well, this time I was give 10 more days of 4 dosages 300MG of Cleocin for the staph and steroid shot for the rash. Also I have this nose stuff for the staph to put in my nostrils twice/day for 5 days to help kill the staph which resides in my nose. OMG, i itch. I really appreciate all the information given here. It is somewhat comforting. I had just taken some benadryl from reading this forum in hopes of combating the rash. Finally, I can't sleep and just want to cut off all my skin.
Take care all and have a happy life.

Hi All, I am a 37 year old mother of 4, with a history of severe Hemiplegic migraines (up to 14 a month). I've been on Verapamil and Topamax for 7-8 months with a gradual increase of the Topamax to 150 mg a day. Before I start writing this I have to preface it with two things: First, Before Topamax I was one of those women my friends refer to as a "Supermom", I home school my kids and used to love it, we normally have a lot of fun and I have a successful, happy marriage. Second, on Topamax, I went from 14 migraines a month to 0. It didn't happen over night, they went away as we ramped up the dosage, but for the last few months I have had no migraines, I can feel it occasionally when my head is fighting one off, but nothing an Advil won't stop, and for those of us who've lived with trying to care for kids while having migraines (especially Hemiplegic) you may understand why I initially put up with the following: I started out with the tingling in my hands and feet (that went away in a couple of months), word finding difficulties (which never really went away, I just learned to accept it),occasional blurred vision which never lasts very long but which has been an issue the entire time I've been on the med, and weight loss ...I am 5'4" and was only 118 lbs to start with, and have nearly "disappeared" into a size 0 and 105 lbs, and it doesn't matter how much I eat, I've been trying 3 meals, snacks, cookies, candy, you name it, I can't gain weight. I was never nauseous, no diarrhea, I just don't get hungry... I had to start wearing a watch at one point to remind myself to feed the kids, because if they didn't ask, they weren't getting lunch until 2:00 because I wasn't getting hungry! Soda does taste like metal (fortunately I don't drink it normally anyway), and you do get loopy with one glass of anything alcoholic.
Then to add to the lovely appearance of skin and bones, my hair is falling out. Before Topamax I worked out regularly, I am even on commercials for my gym (recorded a year ago), since Topamax, I was so tired, depressed, and so afraid of losing weight that I stopped working out. Now a woman who has always made it a goal to set a good example for my daughters that a fit body is the goal, not a thin body, has her mother in law telling her that she looks "bulimic"! In August I noticed I was crying a lot, then I thought well, maybe it's the Topamax, so I started drinking more water and it went away... so I've been very careful to drink A LOT of water and only decaf tea while on this med, but apparently that wasn't enough, because a few weeks ago my husband pointed out that I stopped showering every day. I have been crying at the drop of a hat for a couple of months again, and I have never been someone to cry in public, I have even started crying in front of my daughters friends' mothers and near tears in front of her teacher over the littlest things... then last weekend I found myself with four hours to myself in my house for the first time in months and I was thinking about how I might be able to use it for unspeakable things like running away, or worse... if those aren't signs of a pretty severe depression I don't know what are, fortunately I recognized them and put them together with the memory problems, etc. As for the memory loss, there have been problems with that for months as well, my daughter has been telling me I "have a bad rememberer" , This weekend everything culminated and other people were recognizing the memory issues that I had been keeping private until now (including my husband). Before that, I would be in the kitchen cooking and forget what I was doing, I went to drive to a party this weekend and forgot where I was going, so I called a friends husband and he had to tell me four times where to go before I could retain it (at first he thought I was joking) and then I still couldn't remember the name of the place, only the # and street, I haven't been able to remember routes to places I used to drive... I'll find myself sitting at a light not sure where to go, and making mistakes with our money because I forgot whether I did or didn't pay a bill (something I've never done, we have always had excellent credit). On Topamax I went from feeling like an attractive, successful, good mom, with a happy family... to constantly stressed, even by things I had previously enjoyed doing, and a completely depressed failure... but I had no migraines. I have now been weaning off the Topamax for a few days. I was playing phone tag with my neurologist... so due to the urgency of the problem I took myself down to 100 mg a day. I have since spoken with my neurologist and I am going off of it completely... by the way don't ever discontinue this med without ramping off of it, doing so can cause a seizure. I am unbelievably grateful that I put 2 and 2 together the weekend I had time to myself and got lost going to the party and I already feel more awake, less tearful and depressed... I know that things will be ok anyway. I hope that anyone reading this who is having memory or emotional issues on Topamax and just brushing them aside (because they don't want to risk going back to the migraines or whatever), will get off this med. Please realize that this med could have cost me, my kids and my husband a lot more than my migraines ever will. I have never experienced depression before Topamax, and I can't say that I'm completely back to myself yet, but I hope that when I am off this med I will find normal again, and I pray it will be without migraines, but I know that I wouldn't wish these past few months that I've put myself and my family through on anyone. Now, I need to go take a shower :) , then I'm going to my neurologist to pick up some 25 mg samples to continue ramping off! Good luck to you all!

I just want to say that I was on YAZ for 1 1/2 years and I had absolutely no problems with it. In fact, YAZ was one of two birth control pills that I was on that didn't make me sick, out of five. Yes, sometimes I have anxiety, I'm depressed, bitchy, etc, but it is because I am Bi-polar and have been diagnosed for years now. I hate to sound insensitive, but maybe some of you ladies are just crazy like me. Also, birth control pills pump hormones into your body, and hello, what do hormones do... they can make us a little irrational, bitchy, depressed, etc. YAZ is not that much different than any other birth control.

I just went on Yasmin, because my insurance covers it better than YAZ. I will keep everyone posted, but I'm not too worried.

I was prescribed Toprol XL for my migraines 1 1/2 years ago. I have taken 50mg pill per day. Because of recent awareness of the side effects I have been experiencing (I though it was just me getting old, out of shape, etc) I ran across this board looking for others with the same situation. My side effects included: very, very tired, sleepy all the time, weird dreams all night long, dry eyes, constantly in a "fog" feeling brain dead half the time, low pulse rate usually around 40 bpm, even unable to control my temper when I got angry. I went to my dr. and asked to be taken off this drug. I half-dosed for a week and am now almost a week off and I can't begin to tell you how wonderful I feel. My blood pressure and pulse are back to normal, I'm no longer tired, have my libido and energy back, and no more weird dreams. If you want to try going off Toprol, ask your dr. first, it's not a medicine you should just stop taking. I have my HAPPY HAPPY life back. Thanks to all of your postings!!!

My 11 year old had severe asthma but has seemed to grow out out of it. Our doctor had him evaluated by a pulminary expert to access his asthma. My son had a 30% oxygen exchange in the tiny capilaries of the lungs. I was so horrified. He had not had an asthma attack in 2 years. He immediately went on Advair...and our family life has become horrible. He is angry...he is defiant. He has bad dreams. He doesn't feel good. He now weighs 135 lb! The kids tease him. We have him enrolled in sports to excersize his lungs and get his weight down. He feels bad because he's not as fast as the other kids who are 70-80 lbs. He is always tired...and always confused. The Pulminary guy spends 6 minutes with us...scares us...gives our son a drug that is turning our life upside down. We went to his pediatirician and after 2 year he is now off Advair. This is a new development. I am seeing anger and depression now from him. When you guys went off the Advair, was there a period where your body had to balance itself back? I hope this anger/depression are is just a stepping stone from Advair to a happy life.

Since taking zyprexa I have had the most amazing side effects. Yes, I have changed from a raving bipolar maniac with no rationality into a "normal person" a caring parent of two baby girls and am now having a happy life. Praying that it lasts.

I found this website and it was truly a God send. I have been taking Yasmin for over a year and in that year I have gradually expeienced the following: horrible horrible anxiety (times I couldn't leave the house), numerous panic attacks, nausea, stomachaches (so bad I was told I had IBS but now I wonder), headaches, dizziness, heavy clumpy periods, irritiability, moodiness, shaking hands and overall depression. I honestly thought I was losing my mind. I was a social, happy go lucky person with NO medical problems before I started taking Yasmin. I have a great job, great group of friends & family, fantastic boyfriend and all around happy life and there were times that I would rather sleep the day away than spend time with any of them.
I came across this website and I cried b/c I came to realize that everything that was happening to me could be cause by this pill. I immediately called to make an appt. with my doctor. She told me to finish out my last pack and we'd wait and see how I felt (meanwhile I had to also take anti-anxiety pills b/c it had gotten so bad) I took my last pill 5 days ago and I feel better - I am about to get my period though so next week is my true test of whether or not this pill caused all the terrible feelings I have had over the past year.
I will definitley post an update but I wanted to post my story b/c I found everyone else's expeiences so comforting - knowing that I was not alone and it wasn't just a coincidence that some people on the same pill had the same side effects. GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR if it is unbearable - I am taking a break from any hormones for a while. This was such a horrible experience for me...
Hugs to everyone who is feeling any of the terrible side effects - you are not alone!!
