Wow!!! I am shocked to see all of these posts! I had the Mirena inserted 2 weeks ago and I have been having CRAZY mood swings. Naturally I thought this was from my hormones going crazy due to the change in Birth control. I decided to google the mirena and mood swings, and here I am! I don't think that the insertion was bad at all. I am 24 and have 2 children, I think my Dr. prepared me for the insertion as fairly as he could. What I am upset about is the bleeding. It has not stopped which puts a damper on my sex life, and also the mood swings! I go from pissed off to crying to apologizing! I have never felt so emotional before, even during pregnancy! I am going to tough it out though... just a little longer. But I will let you know how things go. After reading this... I will def. be careful and pay close attention to my body. Thanks to all that posted, it was very comforting to see that I am not alone... or psycho!

I've had the Mirena IUD inside me for 4 years now. In the beginning I absolutely loved it because I went from having very heavy long lasting periods to having none at all. First year I had no periods but began experiencing extreme allergies. The next year the allergies to everything worsened and my stomach would inflate to the size of a 6 month pregnant woman overnight only to disappear and reappear a few days later. Doctor diagnosed me with IBS, sinusitis, and also prescribed me anti-depressants and sleeping pills. Continued to think nothing of it and did not make the connection between the Mirena and my deteriorating health. Now at 4 years with the Mirena I have numbness of the left side of my face, sores in the corners of my mouth, severe allergies, hair loss, increased facial hair, depression, fatigue, low white blood cell count, and now psoriasis of the scalp. After many blood tests and countless prescriptions I have decided to stop listening to the doctors and demand that this thing be taken out of me. Wish me luck.

Hi everyone, I've been off Yaz for two weeks now and have had severe depression, emotional numbness, anxiety, muscle weakness, migraines, and on and on. The symptoms are actually getting worse in some ways since I went off the Yaz.
I'm hoping someone can tell me whether they've had any success in going on another birth control pill after Yasmin/Yaz in order to stabilize side-effects of depression and anxiety, which are what freaks me out the most. I've been off Yaz for two weeks now and if anything my side-effects have gotten worse. I'm seeing a doctor and trying to figure out what's going on, but in the meantime I am desperate to feel like myself again. I'd rather not go on anything else hormonal for the long-term, but I'm considering going back on an older, completely different prescription (Loestrin) which didn't cause me any psychological side-effects. One of my doctors says it should be fine, but the other doesn't want me to do it. Has anyone else felt an improvement in depression and anxiety from going onto a different pill prescription? Thanks for your help!!

I finished all 6 injections in feb but for the most of it I was frezzing cold and didn't start getting hot flashes til my 5 month. I did gain alot of weigh. but no other real bad problems and I am diabetic and my doctor said I have a bad heart thats why he would do a hysterictomy on me. I had read where a pill called novethindron acetate was suppose to be given with the lupron to put back the low levels of harmones did any one get that or take it also. I read it after I got done with my injections.

I am a 18yr. old female. I have been taking avaine for 1 year this month (July 2004). So far Avaiane has treated me greatly besides the pregnancy symptoms- swelling breast, increased appetite, mood swings. I have had a regular period up until June---It never showed up, I must tell you I have waisted countless numbers of dollars because of pregnancy related feelings. I must worn all those who take this pill that feelings of depression causes an imbalance in your harmones, which throws the estrogen level off.
