I have been on Synthroid for about a year. I had high blood pressure and the doctor did a number of tests and found a thyroid deficiency. I started with 75 mcg and was moved up to 100 mcg.

I have gained weight in the last year - at least 15-20 lbs. It is all in the stomach. I look like I'm pregnant. It is very hard to get rid of! I am exercising my tail off, and giving up snacks, sweets, etc, and it's not going away.

I also never had problems sleeping but I do now. I'm glad I found this discussion group, because I see many others have had weight gain problems.

I have been on Apri since July 07' and the first 2 months were terrible. I have never had such bad mood swings in my life, I would cry if someone looked at me wrong, and the urge to scream at people is crazy, I have a 7 year old daughter and a 10 year old step son and I have been unable to treat them with the quality that they need, I have been getting mad at them for the littlest things and they are things that they should not even be getting trouble for. My husband is going crazy because if he tries to talk to me about serious things I start crying. I get very gassy and bloated all the time, I have changed my diet and that has only made it worse. I have been on so many bcps because of serious side effects and I am starting to feel like a lab rat. I am just starting the new yaz that has came out, I am starting it today I really hope that I have better results. The only thing that I liked about the Apri was the fact that I didn't gain weight. One more thing the periods were so painful, I have never had this much pain with a period, and I have a past with ovarian cysts and I normally have really painful periods, but with this pill it was way worse. I hope this helps anyone that is deciding a bcp for themselves.

I became ill two years ago, with depression, palpitations, feeling spaced out, anxiety etc. I have dragged myself to work all this time. My doctor has always put this down just to depression. A few weeks ago my dose of Lisinopril was doubled from 5mg to 10mg, and I have been unable to function since. Certainly unable to work. Spaced out feeling worse, limbs feeling like lead, palpitations worse, unbelievably tired, feeling as if I am going to faint, just generally feeling like c**p. When I think back, two years ago, when I first became ill, my dose of Lisinopril had been doubled from 2.5mg to 5mg. It hit my like a bolt out of the blue..had to be the Lisinopril! Reading this forum convinces me completely. My doctor, however, is unconvinced. I've come back down to 5mg but still have high bp. How do I convince my doctor to try a different med? I know it's Lisinopril affecting me :-(

I have been on the NR for 3 months now and have had a severe headache that started after the first time I took out the ring. It was thought to be a sinus infection, but after having a CAT scan they ruled it out. It is now 2 months later and I still have the headache. I removed the ring a few days ago and will not be putting it back in. I have also had very bad heartburn, cramps, and lower back pain for a month as well. I have been unable to eat properly and have lost 13lbs so far. This is the only thing new I have been taking. My head hurts above my eyes, top of my head, and the back of my head and neck. The pain above my eyes is a sharp pain and the pain on my head and neck is more of a numbing pain. My scalp is very sensitive as well. I do feel this is from the ring and I am having a bad reaction. Hopefully I will be feeling better in a few days...

Have taken Reglan just for just one and a half weeks to help with my diabetes related gastroparesis. Since taking it I have been unable to read, play computer games or even concentrate on TV. I chucked it yesterday morning and already feeling a bit better. I am gonna try again maybe in a few days just to confirm that this drug is the cause, but it looks awfully coincidental. That's why I'm looking up side effects on the web today, gave them no thought until yesterday.

I have been on topamax since Nov. 06. My psychiatrist started me on 25 mg and moved me up to 100 mg. He put me on this medication because I asked him about undergoing a gastric bypass for weight loss and wanted me to try medication first. My symptoms are tingling fingertips and feet. I have also had a chronic cough (sometimes so violent I vomit) from a cold that I have been unable to get rid of. I read on a web site that Topamax can cause a chronic cough. Also, carbonated beverages taste flat to me now. I have lost about 20 pounds but I don't think the sides effects I am having are worth the weight loss.

I'm a 28yo male. I have already shared my experiences as guest #31827. This is an update of my condition.

It has been over four months now since I've stopped taking Zocor(which I only was on for one week at 10mg), and there has been little change in my condition. My neurologist said that I have drug induced myopathy and It can take six months to recover from, with 100% recovery, and there is nothing they can do as far as treatment for it right now. I found out that my muscle enzymes were up to almost 6000 when I was on the Zocor. I'm still very fatigued, weak, muscle tightness, bad tension headache, neck stiffness/pain, vivid dreams every night, very out of it mentally(brain dead). I'm a firefighter/paramedic for a living, and have been unable to work because of this. I'm really hoping and praying that I recover very soon and get my life and job back.

Does anyone out there know about any class action lawsutes going on? Has any of you been in my condition and fully recovered, and how long did it take you? I'm young and healthy otherwise. This shows you how powerful and dangerous statins are! If you have any insight for me and others about recovery write back.

Hi all! Glad to have found this site, I was starting to think I was going crazy. I am 36yr old female, started taking 12.5 mg toprol xl daily in March 2006. I had pvc's after working out in the gym and had a panic attack which sent me to the hospital twice in a week. The cardiologist prescribed the toprol and said it would help with both the panick attacks and pvc's. At first my side effects were mild chest pains, which have since gone away, but about 3 months ago, I stated experiencing dizziness and lightheadedness especially while driving or shopping, also instead of cold, I get hot easily and have had weight gain maybe 15 lbs. I have been unable to go back to the gym, I get very fatigued every time I even try to do any form of excercise. The panic attacks still come especially when I feel particularly bad from what I think are the side effects of this toprol. I am going to try to cut my dose to 12.5 mg every other day and see what happens, I will keep everyone posted.

I have taken Lipitor for 4 years. Two months ago, my walk became off balance. Soon after I began to have sever muscle aches and weakness. I have low back and hip pain, upper shoulder & arm weakness and difficulty holding a pencil. I have been walking with a cane and sometimes need a walker. I have been unable to work for the last 6 weeks. My doctor continues to say it is not the lipitor because side effects happen within the first few months. Only after finding this website am I convinced this is the problem. I took myself off lipitor 6 weeks ago and have had some improvement, but have a long way to go. Is there anything I can do to reverse any of these problems?

Wow, what a web site!

A male, I have been on Zestril/Lisinopril for 11 years and no other drugs. I have had most of the mentioned side effects periodically at some time during that period but I noticed them mostly after 5 years of use.

After reading many comments, I panicked! I must get off this drug. I don't like taking drugs because I worry about the many unknowns. Maybe I should live with high blood pressure and tough it out until I am hand fed in a wheel chair.

Then I remembered the psychology professor who asked everyone in the class what day they were born. Next class he handed out a horoscope to everyone. Most, if not all in the class exhibited surprise at how close to the truth he was about them.

Then he said pass your horoscope to the person on the left. It turned out they were all the same horoscope. People read into general comments their own experiences.

If you look at the side effects mentioned in this web site you will see they are all general and can be caused by and associated with many things. I have family and friends who are not on lisinopril, but tell me they have the same symptoms.

Those of you who have nurses or doctors for friends must surely have heard about how, as they learned about diseases and symptoms, they felt for sure they had the desease. This is a common feeling among medical undergraduates.

As a non-doctor, my understanding is that high blood pressure is not normally, immediately life threatening. It does damage over time to your organs.

So if you suspect side effects, advise your doctor and stop taking them for a month or two and see if your problems subside.

I have tried this and have been unable to conclusively determine a side effect. Perhaps this is because my perceived side effects seem to change with the seasons, climate and time.

Perhaps I would feel different if there had been a strong and relatively immediate reaction to the drug, but much of what I read suggests to me that people have other issues and problems, not a side-effect.

I have been on the vivelle dot .05 for only 1 month - It seemed like the answer to my prayers until 3 days ago when I started suffering the worst vertigo possible. I have been unable to function at home or at work, mainly confined to bed. I can't sit up or turn my head from side to side without the room spinning around. It is horrible - I have removed the patch and wondering how long will this take to get out of my system.

I have been using Advair off and on for the last couple years. Each time i have gone on it i have gained weight and i have been unable to lose it. I had no idea there was any correlation, untill someone mentioned to me how they had gained a lot of weight by using prednisone, which is also a steroid used to treat asthma. It all makes sense to me know. Does anybody know of a asthma preventitive treatment medication that does not cause wieght gain.

I have no idea if this is from this medication, but I had only a cold and a severe cough and am now worse.

I took my first dose of lisinopril 10mg on Friday morning. By 2:00 pm, the abdominal cramping was so bad, I ended up on the couch unable to move. Have been unable to eat anything, including cream of wheat, without feeling every part of my intestines cramping for the first hour or so after eating. The longer I go without eating or drinking, the more reduced the pain seems. But every time I stand up, I feel as though my contents of my abdomen are going to spill onto the floor. Riding in the car over bumpy roads is no picnic either. I didn't take my pill this morning hoping that this would all go away. It hasn't. I am due to see a nurse practitioner tomorrow am (after two calls to the office to complain about this). The saddest part of this is that at my physical last Thursday, my PCP declared me in great health...and just wanted to change my BP med from a beta-blocker to the lisonopril because I had complained of the former's sedative effects. I guess I should be careful about what I say when it comes to the meds.

I just started on Yasmin this week and have already been experiencing side effects. I feel hopeless, anxious and have thought about suicide more than once since beginning. I snap at my boyfriend and cry for no reason and am super sensitive to everything he says. I have been unable to take other forms of BC because of another med, but thought Yasmin would be OK because it has a higher dosage of hormones. Has anyone else experienced this so early? Should I get off it now? I have also been experiencing a yeast infection since starting. Anyone else? I'd love to hear feedback. Thank you, girls! This site has helped me reconsider Yasmin as a birth control option.

I am a 30 year old female,I have Lupus,Fibromyalgia and most recently HBP. I have been taking 10mg Lisinopril for about a month. It has brought my pressure down to a safe level, but I have been experiencing many of the miserable side effects listed in these posts. I have had a mild cough since I began the med, but a few days ago it became so severe I have been unable to rest or sleep. I cough so violently that I become fatigued. My eyes water at night, my head and neck sweat uncontrollably, my skin itches randomly all over during the night, and I am more tired than usual. I can not go another night like this and have decided after reading many posts, to call my doctor and asked to be taken off the Lisinopril. I am hoping there is something else that can be given to me to control the blood pressure without the horrible side effects. I feel much compassion for those of you that are experiencing the problems with this drug and thank you for your input.

I have been on lipitor 20 mg. for a couple of years and have noticed muscle pain and weakness in my legs and back. the pain in my legs has become so bad that I now have to take Hydrocodone for pain. It has never crossed my mind that it could be from the Lipitor. My legs and hips hurt so bad at night that I don't get any sleep without pain medication but the doctors have been unable to find a reason for it. sometimes I walk the floor at night or sit and cry. I am going to tell my doctor about this web site and see if its possible the Lipitor is my problem. Vivian Duarte

I have been using Sarapin for approximately one year and I have not experienced any side effects. It controls my pain when absolutely nothing else works. I am pain free for approximately two and half weeks. Although when the pain returns, it returns with a vengence. I really like Sarapin but I am concerned about side effects and have been unable to find any. I would appreciate a list of side effects that have been reported with this medication and I would like to know why you can't recieve more than fifteen shots. I would also like to know if that is fifteen shots in a year or a lifetime.

My GYN prescribed Yasmin for me approx. 5 months ago after I had been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Yasmin has supposedly proven to be an excellent treatment for women with this diagnosis. I wasn't sure if I would be able to tolerate it at all since I've had a history of my body has rejecting any type of hormonal birth contral methods in the past (I would get SEVERE migraines, nausea, vomiting and vision problems). At first I loved it.....I was actually getting my period again and it was coming regularly. My bloating has almost completely gone away (I am constantly urinating), and my PMS systoms and mood swings have diminished substantially. However, as time goes on I'm noticing increasing problems with muscle pain, spasms and "knotting" particularly in my neck, shoulders, back and calves. The muscle cramping has gotten so bad at times that I have been unable to walk for short periods of time. Within the past 2 weeks I haven't had a single pain-free day, so that my chiropractor prescribed a muscle relaxant just so that I can get through my day. I'm not sure if this is the Yasmin or not, but I've never had these muscle problems before and it only began after I had been taking the Yasmin for a period of time. I have made an appointment to follow this up with my GYN because at this point, I still have one month left of this treatment to control my PCOS, which has the potential to cause me some other severe problems if left unchecked. I will repost additional comments after I meet with my doctor. Has anyone else had this problem while taking this pill?

OMG - I am SO glad for finding this site.

I have been on Advair for almost 3 years now. I started off on 250, and then went up to 500 when I had a severe attack in the spring of 2002. I use to be a relatively healthy person (besides my severe asthma and allergies) - since starting advair (coincidence? i think not) - I have developed a RASH of medical ailments. To the point where I can barely exercise now, I have gained over 40 pounds, and have hyperthyroidism. I experience fibromyalgia type symptoms on a daily basis as well. I have tried a VAST range of diets from weight watchers to atkins to sugar busters to south beach (which I am now on) - I have been unable to lose ANY weight on ANY of these diets. NONE. ZILCH. I tried an exercise plan for about 4 or 5 months - for 4 or 5 days a week, doing all the exercise I could stand to do (even though I felt like I was goin to pass out, and my heart rate was through the roof) - but I simply gained more weight. I have striae (stretchmarks), dark purple ones ALL over my hips, the insides of my legs all the way down to below my knees. I have seen women 200 pounds heavier than me that don't have stretch marks like these. My back constantly hurts, as well as the center part of my chest (around my sternum). I bruise easily. And it feels like I'm constantly having to clear my throat. As if I'm always congested. In the winters I get this insanely dry skin (which I never experienced before Advair). It gets to the point that I am constantly applying lotion because my skin cracks so severely that it bleeds. I cannot be in the direct sun longer than about 45 minutes, or I experience heat rash. And recently I had a raging case of hives, that did not respond to medicine lasting for about 2 months.

My anxiety is through the roof. I've dealt with a little bit of anxiety on and off my entire life, but NOTHING to this extreme. I can hardly do alot of the things I use to love (big sporting events, movies, weddings, etc) due to it. Just 3 days ago, I had a panic attack so severe, it sent me to the hospital, because I thought I was having a heart attack (again I am only 27).

I presented the notion of Advair being the cause of all of my problems now to my doctors. And they both (endocrinolgist AND GP) both laughed it off - saying that Advair is not systemic, and would not cause any of my problems (even though cortiscosteroids are KNOWN to cause hyperthyroidism *which I have now*).

I love the fact that I never need my inhaler. I love the fact that I can be around animals, and if I sneeze it won't send me into an asthma attack. I love being able to breathe, and not having to carry around my breathing machine with my wherever I go.

But I don't love who I have become EVER since starting Advair. Literally. I am 27 years old, and I feel like I'm 96. I can barely walk half a mile now. I always feel horrible, and I never quite feel like myself. I am lucky I have an office job that I can sit on my ass all day, because I don't know how I would survive otherwise.

Why are doctor's so quick to dismiss Advair as a culprit for these things?!?!? Are they that eager to just make our money? Is there an Advair quota? Do they get a bonud from the pharmaceudical reps for selling more of it?

I just don't get it.
Especially now after reading all of this.

I first started Yasmin in October, after being off birth control for several months. I was taking alese before.

I felt that so far Yasmin has improved my skin and my periods are very short.

The first month I started my period randomly in the middle of the pack and it was the HEAVIEST and LONGEST it has ever been. Seriously I was thinking I was going to pass out since it was so much. I was also nauseous at the beginning (and lost a few pounds at the time) however since then I have gained back the weight and have been unable to lose any further weight. Last year I managed to lose about 20 lbs, but I can't seem to lose any more. Also my husband thinks my breasts have gotten a little bigger. My hair is also so dry that I don't like to wash it every day. I don't like being touched and have little to no sex drive. I also go to the bathroom ALL the time, I'm up all night. I am only 24 too.

I have had other similar problems on other birth controls as well, so I don't think it is just Yasmin. I think I am less moody than I was on orthotricylen. At any rate I think the sooner I get off birth control, the better. I think they just make some of my problems worse.

About four years ago a dermatologist diagnosed me with being allergic to tomatoes. I broke out in a red heated rash all over my face. It was uncomfortable and it itched terribly. He prescribed 20mg in Lubriderm for my face. It worked like a charm. Over night my face was much smoother and i had never seen my face so clearly. I applied it everynight and it was great to finally eat what i loved KETCHUP. Well I ran out of it about two weeks ago and have been unable to get a script for it and i have been miserable. I have not eaten tomatoes in about two months and my face broke out severly and started to peel as though it were a sunburn. It itches and stings and i cant seem to get rid of it. I went to see another physician and he told me that my body had become dependent of KENALOG and that was the reaction for not having it. He also said it would be a few months before it finally cleared up. So KENALOG was my dream come true but has turned into my worst nightmare. I suggest not putting it on your face.
