I had my Mirena put in on Oct 18th. There was some cramping the first day but not again after that. The only thing I am having trouble with is the bleeding. I have bled every day since it was put in and I just want to know how long it will last. I'm really tired of it. I have one other friend who has Mirena and she said she bled for the first day and thats it. Can someone please let me know if this is normal

I took Lipitor for 4 or 5 years. I lost count. I am a type II diabetic and the Dr. threw tons of prescriptions at me. I was convinced all my problems were not the result of Lipitor because my sister's Dr. told her that if you had the muscle pain you would have it all over. Well I got sick of feeling like I was 85 years old. I am 57. I know I am not young anymore, but I couldn't sit for more than a few minutes without having trouble getting up. The right top of my leg hurt so bad some times that I could hardly walk . I also had really bad pain on the right side of my lower leg. I had pains in my neck and shoulders and attributed it to stress at work.Last, but not least I had terrible gas and bloating. The gas was downright embarrasing. Well I took it upon myself to stop taking it. Within several days I felt like a new woman! The minute I woke up one morning I could feel the difference before I even got out of bed. I felt like I had been given my life back.
When I called my Dr. to let her know she wasn't very happy and wanted me to come in. Well now she put me on Crestor and it's been two weeks and the old pains and gas are coming back. I am NOT going to take these terrible statins anymore. They say that the muscle and joint aches are rare, but that is only because most doctors won't listen to their patients. You know your own body better than anyone else.
I have heard that some of the "older" statins are not as powerful and they don't have as many side effects. Has anyone else heard this or had any experience using them?
All I know is that for now I am off statins.

This is for all of you out there that are not sure if this is for you or not. I have been on several different kinds of bc pills and I have to say this one is the best one ever. I don't even need to be on the pill, I had my tubes tied after my twins were born (4 children) and I wanted to be back on the pill to regulate my hormones, because I didn't like myself, I was very moody and severe pms. I had one doc put me on antidepressants. Didn't work. I can tell everyone you do need to let this pill as with any pill or medication adjust to your body and eveybody adjusts differently. I have been on it for 2 1/2 months and I feel like a new person. Yes, I do have some nausea, so I take it at nightime. I had an extremely bad headache for the first week as with all the meds I take. My sex drive is better for the first time ever being on a pill. Tender breasts for the first 1 1/2 and I have had this problem for the past 20 years, very very bad and for the first time I can actually say that is pretty good. I have had a little spotting in the second month nothing to bad though. Yes I still get a little moody before my period, however I am a woman and there are no miracle drugs to totally eliminate that. I don't normally write on these sites however, I think everyone should give them self time to adjust to meds (3 months) before giving up. Hang in there and there is one out there that will work for you.

I am 21 years old and was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in my hands, fingers, and wrists. My doctor put my on 60 mg of prednisone at first and then had me slowly go down to 20 mg a day. I have since been trying to go off of it myself. I can't stand the side effects any longer. I have this constant charlie horse pain in my hips and legs, i am so hot and constantly flushed, i feel so depressed ( i am normally a happy all smiles kind of person ) i have done nothing but cry everyday for the past week because I just feel like so many people don't understand or believe anything I am saying. I thought maybe some of this was all in my head until I found this site. Is there any other medications out there that don't have all these terrible side effects? I feel as though the pain from the arthritis is far less worse than this.

I've been on Topamax for about a year. I think the worst thing that happen to me is I totally forgot my childs given name. We have called him a nick name all his life but I'm his mom!!! I was so upset I thought I was going crazy! I still get headaches daily but I know topamax has been the best meds I have been on so far. I have heard that if you combine Relpax with topamax it helps so if anyone has any information, let me know.

I've been on 25mg of generic Zoloft for a week and I've developed the feeling of a lump in my throat. It seems to get worse for a little while after I take it, but it may also be anxiety about taking it. I'm supposed to increase the dosage to 50mg tomorrow, but I'm afraid to in case it's really an allergic reaction. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have been on Paxil for about 5 mo. Then it was discovered that I was miss diagnosed, I wonder how many people have heard that. It is very strange coming off Paxil. My side affects were the same but a little different. I am 34 and my sex drive went through the roof I mean from 1x a mo. to about 10-15. So I dont think that affects everyone. I had no appetite at all lost some weight down to 100. I went from 12.5 to 25mg in 5 mo. I feel better a little emotional and the brain shocks are scary at 1st but then when I learned about everyone had I feel better and they are kind of fun now. 3 more pills and I am done, and ready to take on side effects of my next medication.

Dear Worried,
I know its comforting to know that there are similar cases out there. I was panicking and insecure before I found this web site and realised that I wasnt alone. I was using that pill for so long and I didnt realise the slow changes in me. It was when I read everyone elses side effects, I realised I could relate to them and it wasnt normal. I know its an effective way of contraception, not 100 % but its easier to be on the pill when your in a relationship. But when my boyfriend and I discussed it and realised it was messing with my body too much, we both agreed it might be better in the long run as we want children eventually and I have heard that being on the pill for too long can make it hard to conceive. So now we have to use a different method of contraception and I know it can be more risky but thats what we agreed on.
I hope your girlfriend knows shes not alone and it really might be worth considering going off or chaning that particular pill.
Take care and good luck again :0)

I took Yasmin for four years and just stopped 3 months ago. While on Yasmin I did not notice/realize that some problems I experienced may have been due to Yasmin. I had extreme dryness with my contacts throughout the last year of taking it. Also, last summer I got melesma (mask of pregnancy) on my upper lip! It looked like I had a mustache, but it was skin discoloration. This, plus the desire to have a baby sometime in the next year or so, prompted me to stop taking the pill. I have had one late period so far and now it's been 45 days without a period. Someone posted that they have been experiencing mucus that appears to be the type one has when fertile. I have experienced this, too, off and on throughout the last 45 days. I have heard that it can take up to 6 months to have normal periods again, but everyone's posts are scaring me that I may never be normal. On the other hand, a friend of mine went off of her bcp (another type) and got pregnant within the first month. I suppose that everyone's bodies are so different that it's hard to know what's really going on.

I developed a staff infection from a horse throwing me and landing on my leg. What I though was scraped up skin was actually a big chunk of dead skin where there was no drainage. They drained about a 1/2 cup of puss from the back of my leg. Then I was presented with the choice of losing my leg or taking antibiotics. I chose the antibiotics because within 12 hours the infection had taken up almost all of the lower leg. I was given two antibiotics, one of them being levequin. I was on levequin for 15 days. I had no really severe reactions until the 14th and 15th day. Now the pain is very extreme in the sacral area and I have trouble sleeping sometimes, nightmares, and depression. My feet and hands became very dry and had burning pain. I had very bad stomach cramps which I used a flora/probiotic for and it corrected. I took 5 doses of 10 capsules... one that evening and 4 the next day (2 to 3 capsules equals 60 billion viable cells per gram of flora or acidophilus and bifidum cultures. I am now continuing that treatment taking 10 capsules a day. I have heard that lactobacillus GG is the best culture for antibiotic resistant bacteria (C-diff toxin bacteria colitis).
I have been praying and searching for a holistic treatment for the problems. Because the fluoride in levequin makes the body very acidic and robs the body of calcium I have taken many supplements and done a lot of raw juices. I think the reason I did not react sooner is because I have been using a rounded teaspoon of dulse (a seaweed containing natural iodine with naturally occurring minerals) a day and a teaspoon of chlorella, both of which (iodine and chlorella) are specific for eliminating toxic metals and poisons in the body (ex. copper, radiation, mercury, fluoride, etc.). The best product I have used for the pain is an alkaline water call Essentia. I can be in horrible pain and drink a full glass of this and I the pain eases right up and my brain clears. The water is sold at the Smith Food Stores and I would like to see someone else here try it and see what it does for their pain. I honestly believe that the human body has the intelligence to heal provided we can supply it with the right healing substances to carry the poison out.
I will be trying acupuncture to hopefully further accelerate the healing process and stabilize the back, so I can do a let you know how that works. I would like to see more feedback of what works to alleviate the problems.

I started Yasmin in January of this year and after finding this site and putting two and two together stopped taking Yasmin on the first of January. I know that when I stopped taking it, I so wanted to see a timeline from someone who had stopped as well. So here is mine hopefully it helps those that have had to struggle with this BCP.
When I was taking Yasmin at first I thought it was great and then month two rolled around and things changed. I had leg cramps, nausea, vomitting, I was dehydrated but constipated, I had to urinate every 15 min, and I cant tell you how many times I went to the doctor in those 5 months, whether it was because i was so severely dehydrated and needed and IV, to having serious panic attacks, anxety attacks, nausea, and so on. The last visit was to the Emergengy room when I had a mild stroke. I'm 23. I stopped taking the pill 2 days later. The first month was ok, i was no longer constipated, or urinating every 10 minutes. The vomitting stopped and the nausea stopped for the most part. The only thing that I wanted to end the most is the one thing that stayed with me. The anxiety. I wake up with it every morning. I am going on 4 months of being off the pill. I have heard that it takes the body 6 months to completely detox.
I am now seeing a therapist for the anxiety, one that will not just send me out the door with a prescription for some miricle pill. Through hypnotherapy i have learned breathing exercises that calm me down and put me in a deep relaxed state, and let me tell you it works wonders for the anxiety.
It is really easy, just lay down down somewhere where there are no distractions, like your bedroom. Close your eyes, breathe in for the count of 4 hold for the count of 4, breath out for the count of 4, hold for the count of 4 and repeat. It makes you focus on the counting of your breath and really works, i was amazed.
The water retention, vomitting, leg cramps, dehydration, irritability, all have gone away in the three months that I have been off this pill and my sex drive has returned. I will give an update when the anxiety leaves as well.

In response to 'voicesi', please hang in there! The time it takes for this horrible pill to get out of your body seems to vary for everyone. I have heard that a doctor said that it can be up to three months for the hormones to be completely out of your body, but that it will get progressively better as time goes on.
I was on Yasmin for nearly a year until I was 'hit' with waves of depression, anxiety/panic attacks, having horrible thoughts, rapid heart rate, dizziness/vertigo, loss of apetite. I became a completely different person and was scaring myself and my family. I stopped taking Yasmin 3 weeks ago and although I still have some anxiety (moreso constant worrying?) I am generally feeling alot better and feel like 'the old me' is coming back!
I know alot of people have encouraged others to call the pharmaceutical companies to lodge the effects of Yasmin (and I'm not discouraging that), but I feel in order for the 'word to get out' it needs to be made known to the media??? Pharmaceutical companies have their own agenda with this information. Also, I worry about women who don't have links to the internet. I am just so thankful I found this website and to read others stories, like they were telling mine!
Bring on the happy times!

Not sure, but strong suspicion. I am 33 yrs old, have been on singulair for five years and found out last year that the majority of my sperm are either dead or close to it..
I don't know if singulair is the cause but I have heard that it affects the motility of the sperm. Luckily, with the help of ivf, my wife and I were able to conceive..this drug was prescribed to me for hives and now that i am on it I can't seem to get off. Every time I stop taking it, I feel like I can't breathe and that my chest is closing up. I have never had allergies or asthma, but now it seems I am dependent on this drug..
If anyone has heard or read anything about the effects of singulair on reproduction, please post it here to let me and others know...thanks...

I have problems with my feet. I do not know if the problem is due to Lipitor or Fosamax or both.First I had numbness at the end of my big toe. Over a couple of years the strange feet sensations moved up my feet to above the ankle on both legs till I did not have any flexibility in the ankle. I cannot walk down stairs without holding on to a rail. My feet feel flat on the ground and do not grip the ground. I have stopped Lipitor and I think the sensation is slowly coming back to normal. I have heard that improvments have been noticed in people even two years after stopping Lipitor.

I just had a baby 5 months ago. In the beginning I was breast feeding and therefore on a pill called Errin. After a while I started spotting all the time. Since this was a pill without a week break I did not have my period. I changed to Yasmin because I have heard that there is less weight gain and I was tired of the constant spotting. I had also stopped the reast feeding. From day 1 I had terrible side effects. I felt pregnant again!!! All the symptoms from sore breast to morning sickness to cramps to running to the bathroom all the time. And the mood swings!!! I thought I was pregnant for sure! It jsut felt exactly like when I was pregnant not so long ago. I took 2 home pregnancy tests - both negative. I really don't think I am pregnant. I have been on a pill for many years before my baby, but I have never experienced anything like it. I stopped Ysmin yesterday even though I am not at the end of my pack. I won't accept and live with these side effects! What good is the pill when you constantly think you are pregnant? This is not peace of mind - this is torture! And I do not even want to think about what these side effects are doing to my body. I will be looking into another birth control method. Anybody has any experience with the patch?

I am the Spouse of someone who is addicted to Ultracet. As I found another 50 pills hidden this morning I try to figure out what to do next. My spouse experiences nightmares often and I think her irritability is often due to her intoxification. I too have heard that this is supposed to be NON addicting, very false! I can only hope and pray that my spouse gets a clue and rids herself of this evil before it kills her.

Not necessarily from lortab, but my boyfriend has been taking pain pills, and i am worried. Recently he has been bleeding from his butt. He went to the doctors, it is not hemirroids, its not a sexual transmitted disease. What I want to know is: I have heard that acetaminophen causes liver damage and damage to other organs. It is possible that him eating these pain pills could be causing him to bleed? Maybe the pills are deteriating his organs or something, maybe making them bleed. Do pain pills have these serious effects? I would really appreciate a response. Thank you.
