Just resently I have noticed that I am picking up pregnacy symptomes. I feel light headed, nausea, and dizziness. My breast have began leaking when I cleaning them, and they are very sore all the time. I did notice last week, I was crying uncontrollably for a long period of time for no reason at all. My body always seems bloated, and I feel like I'm gaining weight. I can say that because I have exercised and at healthier than I ever have. Oh my gosh, the night sweats are out of control not to mention gross. I have not had headaches, but have been feeling like I'm coming down with something. I also have not been able to get "in the mood". Which I am a newlywed, and that is just not working for me or my husband. Also, the discharge is almsot like it just gushes out. I think after this month I'm going to take it out. I want to feel like my normal self again.

So glad I found this site. I have tried almost every BC product on the market and they all had side effects that were disconcerting enough to make me stop taking them. I have dismennorhea which means horrendous cramping so bad I have been prescribed Darvocet (heavy muscle relaxer). BC has always seemed to help this in the past which is why I began using the Ring. I have noticed that my breasts are so tender I dont even want to put a bra on in the morning and the constant spotting is driving me insane. I have literally thrown out 20 some odd pairs of underwear because they have been ruined. I think I could deal with it if it was just this but the emotional side effects are tearing my relationship apart. I have cried every single day for absolutely no reason and pick fights on a near daily basis. My boyfriend, who is so supportive, is suffering because of my insanity. I cannot stand a single thing he does anymore, whether its the shirt he decides to put on or not taking the garbage out the instant I ask him to. Eventually I lose it on him and then end up hysterically crying because I realize how insignificant the thing was that set me off. I have said things so hurtful I didnt even think I was possible of conjuring up. The symptoms I am having are akin to how I felt taking the Depo shot, and they did NOT GET BETTER!!!! My last option is a non-hormonal IUD but my doctor is unwilling to prescribe it to me because she does not like them. I guess I am out of luck!!!

I have been on Yasmin for over 2 years now and have been very happy with it. I also take 25mg spironolactone (which is what the "drsp" is in Yasmin) twice a day in addition to Yasmin for my acne. I have never had such clear skin in my entire life. I have not had any mood issues or panic attacks, nor did I have any side effects when starting the pill. Most of the posts are all the side effects that come with changing to a new medication. I would probably not stay on a pill either if it made me sick. I have noticed that I have gained a small amount of weight (5-10lbs) since I have been on Yasmin. I'm not sure if it is because of the pill or if my metabolism has slowed down (I just turned 26). Overall, I have been very happy with this birth control and do not plan on changing it.

I have noticed that I will get 1-3 zits around my mouth (hormone induced)right at period time on this medication - without fail; this isn't helped by the fact that I have my period 2x per month like clockwork on this pill. My period starts on the Monday of Week 2 and the Monday of Week 4. Never fails. Those have been my only 2 symptoms, but its not working for me. Loved Depo but have taken off weight and fear putting it back on.
Called my gyno today to switch pills.

Have noticed that my heart races even by the smallest exertion.
Can that be due to the Procrit?

I am one week into my 3rd pack. The first pack was great!!! No PMS, no cramps, and my period lasted only 3 light days(compared to 7 heavy days). On my second pack i missed a pill 1 week into it and got a light 7 day period and then a light 3 day period at the end of the pack. Now I am 1 week into my 3rd pack and again I missed a pill and have started my period again. Also, I have noticed that my breasts have become more tender and larger since I started the pill and my acne has improved so much!

I have been on Topamax for about a month now. I take it b/c I have suffered from migraines since the age of three. I have not had a migraine since, and would normally have one five times a week. As for the side affects, the soda being flat was one that I noticed right away, and I had already done my research, so it was no surprise. Heartbreaking, yes, but expected. The tingling of the extremities is a big one for me, one of which I am slowly getting used to. I could stand to lose a few pounds, but have not seen if the weight loss thing really affects me; I think it really depends on the individual. Thankfully, I have not experienced any of the memory loss or blackouts. No major mood swings. My appetite has stayed the same. I have noticed that I seem to have some bumps on my lower leg that are not bug bites that I am going to ask the doctor about. I am a smoker, and wonder if this somehow could play a part with the Topamax and the bumps. Anyone? Overall, it's been a short time, but I have had amazing results for why I am taking it! I wish everyone well

I am so glad I found this site! I had thought that all of the sodas I was buying were coming from the vendors flat, but now I realize it was the Topamax. I started taking this medication on September 15th, only 25mg at night and just moved up to 50mg a night after seven days. I've suffered migraines for five years and asked my doctor for a preventative rather than having to take something after the onset that knocked me out for two days. I can't work like that. I haven't experienced any of the tingling sensations, but I have definitely noticed the loss of appetite and severe nausea after taking the medication if I don't fall immediately asleep. No problems with depression, but I do feel like I am floating all the time. Neck feels heavy sometimes. Words seem to disappear out of my vocabulary on a daily basis, and it takes me three days to think of something, which is very frustrating. Haven't actually stepped on a scale yet but I can tell I've lost weight (which is okay) because my clothes are hanging on me. One side affect I haven't read about is anemia - I have noticed that I seem to be bruising very easily; my chihuahua sat in my lap and left little bruises where his feet were. Does anyone know if this is normal?

Hello Yasmin Sufferers out there, I have currently been taking Yasminfor four months exactly, I started my cycle today which means that I would start to take my new pack of pills come this Sunday, except I have most definately decided that I am going to stop. Especially after reading all of these posts and have come to the realization that all of my health problems seem to be Yasmin driven. I will now list the long list of symptoms that I have expierienced over the last four months:
Water retention, dry mouth, dehydration ( also note: drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day), blurred vision, shaking, headaches, backaches, crying at the drop of a dime, moody, irritable, constipation, nightsweats, coldsores, breast tenderness, as well as numbness in legs. I also have naturally thin hair, but have noticed that my hair has become thinner. I have also gained 10pds.
I am 24 years of age and have been taking this pill for four months. When I was younger I took Ortho Tricyclin for years and gained approx: 60pds. I went off of that pill and dropped the weight almost immediately along with changing my nutrition completely. So, it wasn't just the pill. I then stayed off of the pill for years, and was absolutely fine. Last year I tried to take Yasmin, I went on the pill for one month and withing the 1st week gained 8pds, I stopped taking it after one month, because I am so weight conscience because the pill had made me gain weight in the past.
I tend to have moderate adult acne. I went to my Dr. for an acne treatment, and he suggested the Birth Control Pill. He suggested Yasmin because of the water pill which is in it. This time my Dr. convinced me that I did not give the pill enough time last time and should give it three months minumum.
So, I have given it four months and the symptoms seem to be getting worse as well as the weight gain, and irritability.
I have also felt depressed and wondered if have been depressed which I have never had thoughts of in the past.
One thing that Yasmin has done well for me has been clearing up the acne, which was what I wanted to stop, but after enduring all of these other symptoms, I would rather have adult acne in trade for all of these.
Like I mentioned above I took my last pill last Saturday because that was the end of my pack and I do not plan on starting a new one this Sunday. I can only hope that I do not get any negative side effects when coming off of the pill.
I hope that this helps you ladies out there looking for info and highly recommend researching a birth control pill extensively before taking it.
Wishing you all the best of luck, thank you all for voicing your symptoms as I didn't even realize that these were all pointing to one problem.YASMIN.

I went off Yasmin four days ago after taking it for about 4 years. I am 36. Before Yasmine, I was on and off various pills since I was in college. I had never thought I had a problem with it until my doctor ran some tests and showed that I had extremely low testosterone levels. I then did some research and found that this can be caused by the pill, and side effects can be low libido and low energy/fatigue. This stunned me because for years I have been trying to figure out while I am tired all the time. I've gone to nutritionists, sleep clinics and psychopharmacologists to figure this out, and noone ever mentioned that it could be related to the pill and my testosterone levels! So, after four days of being off of it I can report that I definitely feel like I have more energy (perhaps at this point it's the placebo effect) and have a greater sense of well-being. I expect that I may break out a bit since my skin has been pretty great on it. In terms of hair loss, I see women post who experience hair loss on the pill as well as off, so I guess that remains to be seen. I also have noticed that my stomach and hips seem thinner and wonder if I was carrying around extra water weight due to the pill. I'll keep you posted on how things work out.

I started taking Yasmin a year ago to help control my acne which the dermatologist described as adult acne or hormonal acne. It worked and cleared it up. Since then I have gone off of it twice, but the acne returns, so I go back on it. I went to the regular doctor this past week, and he diagnosed me with depression. The depression symptoms started around the same time I was put on yasmin. Could they be linked? I don't want to go off of it because my acne will come up, but it seems to have totally changed my personality. Thoughts??

At first I loved my nuva ring, it was convenient, simple and I never even noticed it was there. Then I started having problems, I am very moody (although I thought I might have been bipolar before), I have depression (more severe than before), anxiety attacks (quite frequently), nightmares almost every night except for the week when I take it out. The ring has started slipping during intercourse causing some major discomfort, I am always achy and hot! I am sure there are other things that I have noticed that are different now that I have been taking it but I can't remember them. All I know is next week is my yearly appointment and I'm telling her I want to go back on the pill. ach why can't they ever get birth control right I was on the patch before this but as soon as I found out that it was no good either I stopped using it. Problem is I have PCOS and have to take birth control to keep having periods every month. Otherwise I only have them like twice a year. So yeah i wish they would figure it out!

I have had mine for about 4 months now. I have acne on my chin area which I never had before and brown, stringy discharge (TMI- I know).. It doesn't have a smell thank goodness, but I have noticed that I have developed a slight body odor. I am a clean person, but I cannot find a deodorant that works now. Is this a side effect? Does anyone else have this problem? My husband says he hasn't noticed anything, but I have. Oh and headaches, lower abdominal pain, lumpy, tender breasts. I am lucky and I have GREAT insurance with BCBS and paid only $25 for mine so it's no big deal for me to have it removed, but I hate to- I love that I do not have to think about birth control everyday.

I started the NR three weeks ago. Since then I have bled everyday and have had a lot of clotting. I have noticed that I have been moodier and sensitive then usual. It did not dawn on me that it was because of the NR. At 25 I have decided to not put anything in my body that is supposed to prevent pregnancy. I have used different methods for the past ten years and I cannot take the effects anymore. Besides who wants to wait for their body to get use to a chemical? From this day on I will be all NATURAL!!!

My 8 year old boy was recently prescribed Singulair by his doctor, last summer he also put him on it for about a month, he developed a cough which would not go away right after being put on the medication, as soon as he stopped taking it, the cough seemed to disappear. When his doctor wanted to put him back on it I was a little surprised and I reminded him of what happened last year, he said it was a good medicine and being that he is a little older it would be fine. He has been on it for 6 days and my husband and I both have noticed that he has been very emotional and has had several episodes of crying, and acting out of sorts. He is normally a very laid back well behaved boy. I decided to look up the side effects and came across this website and could not believe what I was reading. Just this morning he came downstairs and told me that he had a terrible nightmare, and tonight he was complaining that his knees were hurting real bad, he is not a complaining type of kid, this is all that I need to see, we will deal with his viral asthma without singulair, I feel betrayed, I think that parents should be aware of these side effects, I thank god that he has only been on it for a few days.

I started topamax on Tuesday for bipolar disorder. My pdoc started me on 50 mg and I took one in the am and got really sleepy so I cut back to 25 mg at night and went back to 50 mg on the weekend. I was surprised to feel the effects the first day. I thought I had gotten a flat pepsi at lunch and then realized that my tastes had already been effected. I got the tingly hands and have noticed that my leg muscles have been twitching some. The very first day I felt like I was in a fog and I definitely don't want to feel dumb. I'm hoping that cutting back and titrating up more slowly, as well as taking the medicine at night will help. The side effects I can stand as I withstood 6 months on Accutane for acne which was waaayyy worse.

My 4 year old dd has been taking Singulair for about a year. I stopped giving it to her during the winter months as she has seasonal allergies. But now that she is back on it I have noticed that she has frequent daytime urination, nightmares and muscle pains. We have had her checked for UTI's and diabetes and everything is fine. The dr. just says that her bowel is still growing. But when we stopped giving it to her in the winter she was fine. Now all of a sudden she is back to frequent daytime urination. I am going to discontinue and see what happens. I am really glad to find this sight!

I was diagnosed with asthma 8 months ago at 45 years old. It was quite a shock considering I never had sympthoms untill recently. The doctors thought that abulterol would be enough to control it but unfortunately the events become too frequent. They then swictched me to Singular. Wow, what a mistake that wa! Yes, my breathing improved but the side effects were frightening and painful. After only two or three days my arms, hands and fingers were numb and tingling...constant pins and needles...and virtually useless. At night I had the worst most vivid nightmares I've ever had. And I was unable to fall asleep because my mind was constantly racing. It's almost enough to make one psychotic. Plus I had sudden, very painful ear and tooth aches.
All this cleared up a few days after stopping Singualr.
This drugs is suppose to interfere with your body's signals to produce inflammation but it has to be doing so much more, and most of that not good. It seems clear based on my side effects and others I've read about it has a huge impact on the central nervous system too.
This is not a safe drug. I wouldn't be surprised if someone, some day uses it as an excuse for some really bad behaviour. In fact, I'm shocked that this is given to kids at all. If I had to take this for months I would go insane.
BTW, months later, on advice of my doctor, I tried it again with the intent of taking it every other day to limit dose. Nice idea, but no cigar. After just one dose I was once again "flipping out" in bed.
If you have really bad asthma and singular works for you without side effects that's great news. But I'd still ask myself what kind of impact is it having on your body if it does so much damage to so many other people. How safe can it really be?
If you have kids, and they're taking it, please keep a close eye on them. Sometimes kids don't have the communication tools to explain to parents what they're experiencing. Don't make them suffer...and don't let them be punished at school because their behaviour is uncontrollable. It could very well be this med.

I have only been on it for 8 days, but it has been wonderful for me. I suffer from nearly daily migraines. My migraines are brought on by strong smells like smoke, or perfume. The first day I was on Singulair, I went on a field trip to a farming community with my daughter. This is usually enough to have me in bed with an aching headache for a week, but instead I got a mild migraine late that afternoon. My imitrex knocked it right out. The next day, I cleaned house all day, no headache even with cleaning chemicals. Now 8 days later, I haven't had to take any migraine medicine at all. Three nights this week, my neighbor has burnt grass (a major trigger for me) and still no headache. I may get side effects later, but for now, this has been a godsend to me. It has my allergies under control and I can now go out to dinner without fear of smelling smoke, or too much perfume. I can work in my yard again.
If you are having side effects, try something else. I have had terrible side effects from medicines before so I know they do exist. I wish you luck in finding the one that works for you.

I just went on the pill and I started my 3rd week a day early because I lost a pill. So far I have noticed that I want food more, I feel bloated, and I have to keep running to the bathroom. It feels like I am always full with liquid. I am scared after reading this that I am going to gain a lot of weight, and I already had to change my diet because I have high cholesterol. Also When I first started the pill when I went to the bathroom it felt like my urin was on fire. It is really getting to me, and I heard that a lot of people became depressed and moody. I was already liked that. Before starting the pill I took Medroxyprogesterone because I was not getting my period, and then the doctor put me on this to help regulate it. I hope my sex drive doesnt start going down, but I do not see my boyfriend too often. What I did notice was the last time I seen him I started to cry, but this was before I started the pills. My doctor said that the other pills had the same medicine in it as the birth control that I am on now. I will be seeing my boyfriend for the first time since I started these pills in about a day and a half, and I have been getting some pains. I started this pill as soon as I got my period and I had some major stomach problems, so I took midol, and they go on and off. I hope the two medicines wont do any harm. But if I see any signs like everybody else had I will sure take myself off it. The doctor from my college put me on it, and now college is over and I am transfering, so I will not see this doctor anymore. I think I started at a bad time and have no idea what to do if something bad does happen like that.

I think what a lot of people are posting here are more side effects of thyroid conditions rather than side effects of thyroid medication. After my RAI treatment I started on a generic brand of levothyroxine. I even got my doctor to let me try Armour Thyroid since many people do well with it rather than Synthroid. Armour didn't work well for me, but it definitely is the only way to go for some people. After months of misery, things finally smoothed out. I was a royal pain in the butt to my doctor because I questioned everything. The biggest side effect for me going from hyper to hypo was edema. A clinical name for water retention. It wasn't so much the bloated feeling that bugged me. It was the pain in my hands and feet from the water retention. I have never, ever had a problem with carpal tunnel syptoms even though I have always used my hands a lot for work and I play the guitar. I had to add a small dose of dieuretic to control the edema and relieve the hand and feet pain. Sometimes it does flair up depending upon what I eat and how much I sweat, but that's what goes along with this type of illness. It's not just a magic pill that makes you feel "back to normal". You have to be demanding of your doctor to try other things to get you to feel right. You even have to pay attention to how you feel at different times of the year to figure out how to adjust what you take, eat, or do to feel better. I have noticed that with all things remaining constant, how I feel in terms of energy level and edema is related to the season. The body is weird that way. I still have side effects from the treatment from time to time, but I finally figured out what seems to work best for me. Maybe things could change over time, but I've learned that medicine just doesn't have a black and white treatment plan that works the same for everyone for thyroid related conditions. To sum it up, question everything your doctor tells you, demand to try things that you think would help you feel right, pay attention to what your body is telling you and adjust, and fire your doctor if they treat thyroid problems as black and white. Your doctor is not the one suffering from the condition, you are. It's your life and there's nothing wrong with being demanding about wanting to feel right.

I am amazed to read these side effects. I have been on the nuvaring for a little over a year now. The things I was experiencing I never associated with the ring. I have gained weight, feel so overly tired everyday, and have noticed that I get more headaches, and that I get pain in my chest that feels like the muscles are tightening making it hard to take deep breaths sometime. Then to top it all off I have been having pain in my gland in my neck and the gland gets rock hard. My boyfriend also tells me that I seem overly paranoid and stressed which has put a strain on our relationship. He is the one that suggested I look at the side effects people are experiencing.
My only problem is I cannot take the pill, as that made me sooo depressed that I could not stand my self. I need to be on some kind of low dose hormone, and the last time I took myself off the pills I got pregnant and almost died.

I am 29 years old and I have been using NR for almost a year already. although I got through mood swings all the time, now that I think back over the last year or so, I have been acting especially crazy. I am never calm, irritated by everything and everyone, break up with my boyfriend at least 1ce a week, cry a few times a week. Only after reading these posts did I start realizing that maybe its due to NR? I started taking Valerian pills to calm me down, but I became emotionless. I cant be happy for anyone, want to be alone, and not go out. I thought this was all due to stress at work, but now I'm beginning to think otherwise. I took out the ring for good about 3 weeks ago and as soon as few days later have noticed that my breasts are VERY tender, so tender that it hurts to wear a bra. My nipples are HUGE and hurt so bad, this got me scared -thinking that I may be pregnant, but I have been very careful after taking out the ring. Has anyone else noticed this after removing the ring for good?
