Head to toe symptoms and conditions

I had back surgery in July and caught two infections from the hospital, Staph and pseudonymous. I had a picc-line put in and was put on Cipro oraly and Ancef. I got Steven Johnson syndrome from the Cipro and almost died. I looked like a burn victim and swelled from head to toe that was three weeks ago. They pulled me off the Ancef and Cipro. It took a week of me running 103 + temps and the dr. kept telling me its a virous until the rash showed up and my tongue swelled and private parts and throat started to swell shut before they decided to admit me. Then once all that was done and they figured it out they put me on impernem to kill both infections. They pulled my picc-last week and put me on Doxycycline. I have done my research and know that the two are related I asked my dr. what the chances were of a reaction again he told me less then 1%. Ha! I am seeing an infectious disease dr. by the way. Since I started the Doxycycline last Thursday I have developed hives I called the dr. and was told they are not worried about it because I am not running a 101 temp and I am not swelling, plus they don't even know if the Pseudonymous is cured. What do I do? If I go off the antibiotics I will die and if I stay on them I am probably going to die. My joints hurt all the time now and I am only 31. Do I look for a new dr.? Can someone please help me? This is the only website I have found so far where people have had the same reactions as me. These antibiotics are dangerous they need to be taken off the shelf. I was put on bactrim for uti. I was fine until the 3rd day were i began experiencing flu-like symptoms. The 4th day i got worse and that night i developed a fever of 103 i couldn't look up or side to side because of the pain. I woke up that night drenched in my sweat and when i woke up that morning i now have hive from head to toe that seem to be getting worse even with benadryl. I'm feeling extremely depressed and don't know what to do. I would never wish this on my worst enemy.

I was prescribed Avelox for a sinus infection and bronchitis after relapsing twice following treatment with amoxicillin and Levaquin. The doctor had provided me with 12 sample packets and advised me to take (1) 400 mg tablet each day for 12 days. He then wrote me a prescription for another 14 day supply and advised me to wait to fill the prescription until I determined if I could tolerate the drug. That statement should have been a red flag for me, but, I didn't think twice about it.

I proceeded to take the Avelox for 9 days before the side effects kicked in. The first thing that I noticed was itchy skin. I didn't associate the itching with an reaction to Avelox right away because it was mild itching. By the 10th day, the itching was very severe all over my body. I took Benadryl and went to bed. When I woke up, my face had swelled up, my eyes were practically swollen shut, I had a rash on my entire body from head to toe but most noticeable on the upper half of my body. The itching was unbearable and my body kept going between chills with extreme shaking and teeth chattering to profusely sweating. At this point, I finally associated my symptoms with a reaction.

I stopped taking Avelox 5 days ago. It took two days and a bottle of Benadryl before the rash and swelling subsided. The severe itching also subsided after two days. However, I still have mild itching and some swelling. I've also had two severe migraines in this 5 day period along with fatigue and an upset stomach. I've also continued to experience chills and profuse sweating.

This is a wicked antibiotic. I would strongly advise against it. I've never experienced anything like this before. It's scary.

I was prescribed Levaquin in July 2008 for a kidney infection - 500 mg for 7 days. I experienced insomnia, muscle cramping in my calfs, and aching a chilies tendon while taking the drug. Approximately 5 days post Levaquin I started having generalized muscle twitching (head to toe) which is intensely noticed at rest, severe anxiety, burning sensation, vibratory sensation, and most recently weakness accompanied w/ pain in my right arm. I have seen 4 separate doctors in 3 months and have had blood work done along with an MRI of my brain. All tests came back normal... I am scheduled for an EEG and EMG this coming week - which too will probably come back normal. Between all of my doctors I have been diagnosed w/ a virus, anxiety disorder, fibromyalgia, and a mild case of Guillain-Bairre Syndrome. Luckily all the doctors have agreed that they do not believe I have MS or ALS. Before the kidney infection I was healthy and RARELY made a visit to the doctors. I have issued a Medwatch Report to the FDA as I am completely convinced that my medical issues are related to Levaquin. I have been dealing with these symptoms now for 3 months and would appreciate any feedback from individuals who have experienced the same side effects and what they may have done to ease the symptoms.

swelling, coma, bad dreams,numbness of legs and hands,cannot move a muscle, cant talk, cannot open eyes, shocking sencations from head to toe, hungry all the time, frequent urinenation, dizzleness, vertigo, cannot move or walk or talk,afraid to shut eyes when you can get them opened because you think it will throw you into a nother coma state of mind. scared, flared my hi hernia up to where i have a lump in my throat,had to go to the ER. 2 times sat. almost died.

My cousins 5 year old daughter had a horrible experience with onmifef. She also had a terrible ear infection for which the antibiotic was prescribed. She woke up on the 10th day swollen from head to toe, terrible rash all over her body, fever, etc. Took her to pediatrician and he immediately sent her to children's hospital. There they were told by 3 different physicians, serum allergy. I cannot believe a physician would prescribe this after I had seen all the comments on this site. This is just horrible and to hear what all these young children have had to suffer just irritates me to no end. Something must be done about this medication!

Started on Levaquin 750 on 03-07-2006 for a UTI. Rash from head to toe - muscle aches, chest/lung pain. Will return to the doctor on 03-10-2006 - this is the first time I have had side affects with levequin -

I am so glad I found this site. I have only been on Zocor for three weeks and have pain in every muscle from head to toe. It burns at times and at other times even my skin hurts. My vision has gotten hazy. I can't even open a bottle of water without help. I am only 42. I was put on 40mg every evening - because of being diabetic and the dr wanted my level to be at 100 or lower. I am in a lot of pain. The dr told me to stop taking the Zocar and sent me to the urgent care for lab work. Now we just have to wait for results. After what I have read here tonite, I am going to avoid statins and work on the diet and excersize aspect. It worked with using cinnamon for my diabetes.

my entire body hurts from head to toe, very achy and i've had a lot of sore throats

Side effects painful teeth (sounds crazy but please believe it) I was sweating from head to toe- has ceased since taking but mouth and throat are so dry, feel so weak, tired confused. Teeth are hurting so much. Inner mouth sore. Headaches.

after 9 day's on this drug, I had a sever reaction and had to go to the hospital. I was swollen from head to toe, bright red from head to toe, pain in my left wrist, and stomach,big red welts on my legs and arms headaches. amonth latter my left wrist went out and I had to go in again, I was diagnoised with cysts on my wrist. And no doctor will treat me, because of this drug and I have no insurance! so here I am in pain all the time headaches anxiety constantly, sever moodswings, my fiance is always asking what the _ _ _ _! is wrong with me. And I feel like I am losing my mind! The big kicker is that I cut hair! which this makes it hard to do my job. Lots of pain at the end of the day. I no longer have any trust for doctor's.

After 1 dose (500mg) of Levaquin I couldn't sleep all night, but the worst thing is that after 2 days I am itching from head to toe. How long will this last? Any
suggestions for relief?
