I was put on 20 mg twice a day to combat my Crohn's Disease. A few days in, I began having trouble sleeping because of a heart beat that was making my whole torso and head throb. Exactly one week in, I woke up with a bad headache and nausea. I got out of bed and my heart started racing. I couldn't take my pulse at the time, but my estimate is about 150 beats/minute. The doctor accelerated my tapering in response to this episode. Right now I am taking 30 mg a day, but I still experience a heart rate in the 130's and chest pain several times a day unrelated to physical activity. I will say, however, that all the symptoms of my Crohn's Disease have really been diminished by this drug, and so far I am willing to accept these side effects.

i started the pill about 3 weeks ago, 2 weeks in i began bleeding, a few days after that started i began experiencing severe abdominal cramps, which i rarely had before starting the pill, and a couple of days ago, i developed a severe headache and nausea, the pain was so severe between the two that i was vomiting. now im still bleeding (should just be my normal period now, placebo pills) but the cramps are still there and still bad. should i get this checked out or is this normal?

My doctor prescribed 25 mg Topamax every evening for headache prevention. I had headache and nausea for several days before starting the Topamax, then after starting the Topamax, the headache pain got worse and I also had pain in my back and ears. I did not get the tingling in extremities but noticed some decreased sense of feeling in my face for a few hours after taking the medicine. The pain got progressively worse then I became depressed and suicidal. I was convinced my life was so bad that I wanted to die. I take 100 mg Zoloft daily for depression and still feel a little depressed and was hoping Topamax would help with this, too. I took Topamax to help with headaches and depression and it made both much worse to the point where I was seriously suicidal. I stopped the Topamax after only 5 days and the pains and nausea have gradually decreased to the point where today I have been virtually pain free most of the day for the first time in 2 weeks. I read on the internet that there is an increased risk of suicide while taking anticonvulsants, but it's rare. I am convinced I am one of the very unlucky people who becomes suicidal on this medication. I have 2 beautiful children, a great job, excellent health other than headaches and depression, and plenty to live for. I still can't believe that less than a week ago I just wanted to die and didn't care about seeing my children and family ever again or ever getting back to my job that I love. It's so hard to believe a drug can cause that kind of thinking. I'm pretty sure my doctor doesn't think the Topamax caused me to be suicidal and has no intentions of reporting my case to anyone. I suspect it's not as rare as they say to become suicidal on this med, it's just not reported enough. I wouldn't be typing this if I were still taking Topamax because I would be lying in bed suffering in pain, sleeping, thinking about how good it would be if I would just die. I went for a CT scan of my brain soon after getting off this med and I remember thinking that I hoped I had a tumor or anurism so I could die. I found out today I don't have a life threatening illness and I am happy about that now and can't believe I was thinking such bad things only a few days ago. I hope doctors take more care in prescribing this medication to people who have a history of major depression because I'm afraid people are going to feel like I felt and kill themselves on this med. I think this drug is great for some people and should be available, but people need to be warned that they may become suicidal and given instructions on what to do if that happens. I had no idea if I should go to the ER or call someone or what, so I just got people to watch my kids and called in sick to work and stayed in bed for a few days. I don't miss work often and am very committed to my job and my children are first in my life, so not being able to care for my kids or go to work made me feel so much more depressed. My doctor referred me to a neurologist and I hope to find some way to get relief from the head, neck, and back pain and the nausea. A few days ago I thought I would kill myself if my doctor couldn't find what was wrong with me and I felt terrible for no reason. Now I have hope. It's just not right that a drug can take away the ability to have hope.

I am 20 years old and I had no fear about the Gardasil shot until I received my second shot. I had my first shot July 7, 2008 after my sister-in-law convinced me to have to. She swore by it. After I received the shot I immediately noticed that I was having headaches and nausea. I figured it was just a small side effect so I put it out of my mind. I was known for having migraines also. This was on my mother's birthday, I couldn't enjoy it with her. Later in the week I started becoming very ill and I thought it was due to stress and lack of sleep. I was working a night time job as a manager so the stress was normal for me. On Sunday, July 20, 2008 I went over to a friends house because I was depressed and needed to be with some on when I noticed the I had been getting dizzy. My friends boyfriend was giving me a ride home while he was smoking a cigarette and the smell made me feel very nauseated. I thought I was pregnant because my boyfriend and I had recently broken up not even a month before. After I got home all hell broke loose. I started vomiting. For the next 2 weeks I had been vomiting and I was not able to hold anything down. I couldn't eat and I couldn't drink anything. I was working full time while being sick. I had no energy at all. Finally, July 31, 2008 I was admitted into the hospital. I was complaining of stomach pains and a late period along with the nausea, severe heartburn, and exhaustion. After doing x-rays, blood work, and urine tests they came back and said I was not pregnant, but I was dehidrated. I was on a drip for 4 hours making me late to work. I finally was released from the hospital after lying to them telling them that I was feeling better. I felt worse than before. I went to work that night completely out of my mind because my boss refused to work for me. In weeks to come I started feeling better. I got my second shot September 12, 2008. Once again I immediately noticed a headache and nausea and this time I knew it was from the shot. I still didn't think much of it even after I heard about what the shot was doing to people. I noticed a red mark where the injection site was but I figured it was normal. I went through my weekend without a care in the world when I noticed on Sunday that I wasn't feeling well at all and I was starting to get another headache. This was on my brother's 23rd birthday so I put on a brave face and went through the night. I went to bed early. Last night I was sitting on the couch watching my favoraite show when I noticed I was getting another headache. I didn't want to say anything to my parents because there was nothing they could do about it. Later in the night I noticed my headache was getting worse with a sudden sore throat with no cold symptoms. I once again went to bed early. I woke up this morning with the same sore throat and headache only they were both worse following nausea. I was supposed to take a college placement test, but I had to cancel it for the second time due to being sick from the Gardasil shot. After I did that I came online and looked at possible side effects vs. side effects people are really having. Panicing I called a line called "My Nurse" and spoke with a nurse at my local hospital. She told me that since I am on birth control to try to regulate my period that it might have something to do with my headache. I told her about the times before when I was not on birth control and my hospitalization with the dehydration and headaches and she told me that I was the second person today calling and complaining about a headache after receiving the second shot. She informed me to try to take ibuprofin and if my headache was not gone within the next hour or two to go see my family doctor and ask him about the Gardasil and if I should receive my 3rd shot in January. So far it's been an hour and every time I swallow I feel like I'm going to vomit and my headaches only gotten worse since taking something for it. I will not be receiving my 3rd shot and I suggest to anyone who is getting the Gardasil to carefully consider it before getting it. I was perfectly healthy before receiving the shot and now I'm a mess.

I'm in my fifth day of the start with this and Viramune. I'd describe the first couple of days like a bad flu with headache and nausea. I still am very tired, and got to work late twice because I slept through my alarm. I sure hope this ride improves, because it's a bumpy one...

I had the mirena put in in june after my third child. I did feel a bit dizzy when it was first put in but did not cramp at all. I was still spoting then from giving birth, so it just continued for about 3 more weeks the stopped altogether. I have not had a period since, woooooooohooooooooooo!!!!!!!! I don't feel bad about that at all. I did have a day when I woke up cramping and thought I was going to start but never did. My doctors nurse told me everything I needed to know about the mirena long before i had it put in. I actually made the appointment to discuss it with her. Everyone should have been smart enough to ask questions before it was done, not the day it is. You cant think straight when someone is getting ready to put a device in you. I have to say I love my mirena and would not trade it for a pill, a shot, or any other birth control method. Ladies know your gyn very well before trusting them. I think most of you just think it is your doctors fault. It is not it is yours for not researching it more. And come on what women is not moody a day in her life, not many. How many headaches did you get before the mirena? How were your sinuses before mirena? Probably the same. Some womens health simply changes after having a baby. I also advise against you removing these mirenas yourselves. It is not smart, you could get a bad infection from not being in a sterile environment.

Hello all i just had to post this. I had the Merina put in On June 12of 2008. I thought at first this was going to be the best thing for me because i have fibroids. Well 1 week after the insert it all started. Constant heavy Bleeding , Pelvic Pain and ect. Of Course i go to my OBGYN and they thought i was crazy and did not take it out. So i went to my Regular Doctor because my symptoms were getting worse. I started having migraine headaches and i just was feeling so sick along with the heavy clotting bleeding. I was to upset that it really wasn't anything he could do but treat me for my headache. Ok, that didn't work. My headaches got worst and I ended up in the Emergency Department with a severe headache trembles and etc. They took all kinds of test and i kept telling them that im having Major problems , know one was listening. I started having bad Anxiety attacks and Panic Attacks. This never happened a day in my life. My doctor had to put me on medication to control my anxiety attacks. Finally i am going to the OBGYN to get this thing out. While im there i am going to give them a piece of my mind as well. When patients are having severe problems , it should be considered an emergency to take it out. Everyone's Heomoglobin isnt low but experience other side effects. I am suffering really bad and trying to work a full time job as well plus married with 2 Kids. Hell i thought i was loosing my mind. I cant wait until 08/21 to get this removed!
Thanks for reading

Kim

I took Lipitor for 2 years with all the pain in my shoulder, hand and arm as well as fuzzy memory. I had a friend over for Lunch an have no memory of anything that happened including his arriving and leaving on his Harley and we all know how loud they are. I ended up in the hospital with all kins of tests including an MRI all of which I have no memory of to this date. My hospital bills are still coming in as well as all the Doctors that saw me. I just received my Divorce and then this happened , I was out of work for a week , the Doctors thought I had had a heart attack, stroke or aneurysm.I also had all the foot pain making it impossible to stand up , leg cramps, sleeplessness, sheer exhaustion, depression, headache and nausea. The Doctor at the Hospital took me off of the Lipitor and said to take a 325mg. aspirin daily . This happened on March 23, 2008 . I am felling better but I still pain in my shoulder , neck , stomach , and feet and legs but is nothing like it was. Here I am left with a few thousand dollars of Doctor and Hospital bills. Why can`t something be done about all of this we are all going thru? I called the FDA to report it and got no where. Did I really expect anything to happen ! I hope someone gets something done for us . I would be one of the first to sign up to take Lipitor off the market and get what is due us.

Well ladies, after reading all the reviews, I quit taking loestrin 24 fe today. I am 53 and needed something for the anger and heavy periods related to peri-menapause. I have taken it for one month and have had 3 killer headaches, weight gain like crazy, bloating and NO sex drive. So, after going home sick from work yesterday with headache and nausea, I quit today. Guess I will look for more natural ways to deal with life changes..good luck and thanks for all of this input that helped make my decision to quit.

Hi All,

Happy to find this site. I have had a mirena over a year and three weeks ago started experiencing constant nausea and headaches. It's really terrible. I feel like I am in the first trimester of pregnancy.

I went to my primary doctor and she prescribed me medication for headache and nausea and did some blood tests. That was a week ago. I called her after I found this site and wondered if my nausea could be from the mirena; she said she wanted to treat it with stress reduction first. I am incredibly annoyed by this; I don't need any stress reduction, I'm doing just fine.

Then, today I called my ob to see if the nausea could be caused by the mirena. She said that nausea usually occurs when it's first placed, that this is too long for it to be caused by it. I mentioned this site and she said she would research it again and get back to me.

Now I just contacted my naturopath and hopefully I can get an appointment with her this week.

I'm inclined to get the mirena removed but it cost so much to get inserted ($700, not covered by insurance) that I'm reluctant to get it removed until I know for sure what is causing this nausea.

Please let me know what you all think.

Thanks.

Jackie

I was on Geodon for bipolar in addition to lithium and depakote. I had to stop the Geodon after 2 months because I had intense shaking. I also could not stop fidgeting/restless movements. My first night without Geodon I have a massive headache and nausea/chills/sweats.

Here it is almost 1 in the morning and my fiance and I are worried sick thinking that my soon to be mother in law was either having a stroke or heart attack...this site may very well be a life saver!!for us all. After going to varoius websites trying to narrow down my mohter in laws symptoms and her refusal to go to the ER .....we went to the medicine cabinet and began to look up side effects of her prescriptions...and wouln't you know it there is the bottle of Lisinopril....I am scheduled to go the Dr. with my mother in law tomorrow and I will be sure to take all this information and the bottle with me. Although, we are not 100% relieved I have some piece of mind knowing that she may not be suffering a stroke or heart attack!!!. The past three days she has been suffering from the chills. night sweats, numbness/pins nad needles in her arms, sever headache and nausea.....and she has been sleeping more than I have ever seen her sleep in my life!! and not to mention the coughing!!!After reading all the side effects that everyone else has posted the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fit! Thank you so much to everyone for sharing your information it has been most helpful and somewhat comforting....it just goes to show that as always prescriptions are a money making racket and drs will prescribe anything to anyone to make a buck!!!!
I am so happy to have found this site and all your postings!!!

I had racing pulse, heart pain, headache and nausea the first time I was prescribed Levaquin for a UTI. I called the doc's office and was told I it had nothing to do with the med. I took it, all the while feeling miserable, for the whole prescibed dose. I was prescribed it again, and had similar reaction, called and asked about it, and was told that my culture came back negative and I should stop taking the med. I was happy to do so. Third time it was pneumonia. I got a shot first of a penicillin derivitive, then was prescribed Levaquin. Within 24 hours I had severe hives, along with feeling awful, which my have just been related to the pneumonia. Went in to the doc, and was taken off the Levaquin, and told to never take any of this class of drug again, because my doc said the next reaction could be much worse. I was switched to a penicillin derivitive and put on a prednisone pack for the hives, which took a couple of weeks to go away even after stopping the Leviquin.

I'm 6 weeks post yasmin. I have gained five pounds since I got off the pill and it seems to increase every week. Did this happen to anyone else?

also, while I was on the pill, (2 years) my hair fell out in huge clumps everyday. I had zero libido and my breasts were non-existent. I was extremely irritable and angry for about one week every month prior to getting the period.

Since I've been off the pill, I feel better overall. Even the breasts came back somewhat right away. Minus the one day of terrible headache and nausea. I'm wondering, why am I gaining so much weight so quickly and will they come off? am I just retaining water or is my metabolism slowing down? My diet is the same as before.

did anyone else experience the similar?

I have been taking Yasmin for 5 days so far. I take it before bedtime. The first day I had a horrible headache and nausea and I had no energy. The second day was just nausea. The third day, just lack of energy. By the 4th day I was feeling fine. I hope that's the end of the side effects.
