Hi, Ladies,
Thank you for this website. I used to be the picture of health. But then I had my Mirena inserted about 3 weeks ago. Ten days later I started experiencing high blood pressure, sporadic numbness in my arms and legs and dizziness. I told my doctor that I wanted it out and he said it wasn't the IUD. I explained how other women are experiencing the same side effects. He said, "There are scientific studies....." totally negating your voices. Then he lectured me about problems with the Internet knowing full well that I am a teacher. But, he said he wouldn't argue with me. I'm scheduled to have it out tomorrow at 8:00.
What can we do to get this removed from the market?

I believe the Mirena was in direct relation to my developing anxiety, migraines and eventual miscarriage with complications after removal. The makers of this device states that the hormone stays within the uterus, but how can that be? Being one who doesn't tolerate artificial hormones well at all, my doc suggested this IUC stating the same. Ridiculous!!! I bled for 6 months after insertion...was told to wait it out. I developed anxiety which led to 911 calls thinking I was having a heart attack. I also had increasing amount of headaches and dizziness. After two years of increasing medical problems, I had the Mirena removed. Not surprising, my headaches and dizziness decreased, however, anxiety is still a problem, but not as bad as before when using the Mirena.
As for getting pregnant after removal...my best friend and I had almost identical experiences with our miscarriage. Both of us had the IUC removed, both of us became pregnant, both of us miscarried around 5-6 weeks and the development of this whole experience has many more similar details that are more than coincidence. Fortunately, my friend was ok, however, I ended up hemorrhaging and retained tissue/clot and have been dealing with this for nearly a month. I'm extremely anemic and stressed. I KNOW that the Mirena damaged my uterus and I now terribly fearful to try to get pregnant again because of the horrible experience I had.

I've been on Nuva Ring for 4 months and I've been having terrible night sweats for about 3 months. I wake up soaked. It's so bad that I'm developing rashes from the sweat. Every morning I have diarrhea. I had pregnancy symptoms. I also get severe headaches and dizziness. The week that I take the ring out I feel nauseous. I do have pain during intercourse and low drive. I tried to find something on line too for night sweats as a side effect. I'm very worried now and will be contacting my GYN!

I have been on diovan for 2 months and have experienced terrible headaches and dizziness. I told doctor and he said to take a month off and monitor my bp.
In a.m. it is 140/80 not to bad for morning, p.m. it is 137/78
After 3 days the headaches are gone but the dizziness is terrible still.
How long before dizziness might go away.

I was on SSRI's for a while (lexapro, zoloft) when I finally couldn't take the tiredness, weight consistency, and NO sex drive. So I tried Wellbutrin SR 150 2x a day. Started off at 150 for a few days and felt like I was given a new life! I had never felt so good. Then it was time to increase my does to the 300mg. I started getting headaches, dizziness, my ears are ringing so bad I can't hear very well anymore. So I went back down to 150mg per day. I don't feel as tired, but it's still there. The ringing won't go away and I am still dizzy. The funny thing is, is that I can almost guarantee it's the same time everyday. I get the dizziness and headaches around 3pm, they go away(most of the time I have to lay down) and by about 5pm they're gone, but by about 10pm they're back. And it happens every day like clockwork. I like the way I feel (minus the headaches and dizziness, and ringing) my brain doesn't feel "numb" like I did on the Zoloft or Lexapro, and I have lost a few pounds which doesn't hurt, but I don't think I should feel like this everyday. I want a medication that I can feel good on without headaches and dizziness. And PLEASE no ringing in the ears. It's good to know that other people are experiencing these side effects, I really thought I was the only one.

I have been taking Lamictal for about 2 months now. Started at 25mg and now at 150mg. I also take 10mg Lexapro and 1 mg of Ativan daily. I was diagnosed with bipolar-2 about 3 months ago. I'm not sure if this is the right combo for me. Most of my problem is with severe irritability followed by moderate anxiety and mild depression. I have never had a Manic episode just Hypomania which the doctor said is my anger and Irritability. I have been on every SSRI (anti-depressant) for the last 12 years, which does help the depression, but it increases the anger and irritability. Another Dr told me I am not bipolar-2, I just have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). Not sure what to do anymore, the Lamictal is giving me bad headaches and dizziness and nausea. So now I take Meclizine for the those symptoms. Is there just one pill to help all these symptoms? Has anyone had any luck with Buspar??

Hello,
I read about how YAZ birth control pill affects the body and psych and I am now scared. This is my 2nd day of YAZ (I've never been on birth control pills ever and I am 27 years old), it's all new to me but after reading all these negative posts about Yaz I don't know what to do. Before the birth control pills, I was depressed, annoying, serious weight problems - 210 lbs :~~((, low energy, low libido, always tired, terrible migraines every 2nd day, ridiculously increased appetite and excessive hunger, hair where it shouldn't be, menstrual blood clots, excessive cramping etc
I have all these problems for 3 years now and now that the family doc. put me on YAZ birth control pill I am even more scared - mainly of more weight gain, it would be a tragedy for me, I am fat enough already and what's worse I can't lose the weight, exercise doesn't help, diet doesn't help, NOTHING. Will YAZ birth control pill worsen my already tragic condition? I just don't know what to do and what to believe ... I appreciate any advice or help you can give me ... Thank You to all!

I've had prescription Allegra for over three years now for my seasonal allergies. (Michigan in the spring can be such a pain. XD)
It does not seem to have the side effects Zyrtec had on me, which were headaches and dizziness, nor does it make me as drowsy as when they tried me on claritin.
The oddest thing Allegra does is flatten my hair, completely. My usually wavy, thick bouncy hair goes very flat and droopy, and maybe even a bit thinner whenever I absolutely have to take it on the worst of the spring days.
I also notice that when I discontinue the pills, my allergies appear to become even more severe afterwards, and on some occasions my body has started itching, which seems to indicate they DO cause a dependency.
Otherwise, Allegra seems to be very useful for keeping the symptoms at bay for the entire day, unlike the non-prescription stuff that just completely knocks you out.

I started taking Wellbutrin three weeks ago. I had been taking Zoloft for four years and it had been working fine except my insurance company tripled the cost and I was beginning to have to take more to get the same results. I thought Wellbutrin might be good alternative after doing some research and my doctor thought it would be good for me to try out. Well, since I have been taking Wellbutrin I have become emotional (wanting to cry at things I would never cry at before), more irritable, my husband says "I am not the same person", dizzy, two sips of a beer gave me a horriable headache which lasted until the next morning, I had to sit down on a bench at the mall because I felt like I was going to faint, and worse of all my brain became very "fuzzy" feeling. It was like my short term memory was damaged. I am taking a Spanish class and was doing well (A's). After I started taking Wellbutrin I could not concentrate enough in class to learn, even saying to my professor, "please skip me, I am not feeling well". It was humiliating. I have maintained a 4.0 in every class I have taken since 1999 and completed a masters degree last year. So, all in all-this was my experience. Maybe if I had taken it longer, it would have been different, but it was like torture for me. One positive note....I felt absolutely no internal depression after a week of taking it (other than being upset about the other symptoms). It worked really well in that area.....so, maybe if others do not have all the symptoms I experienced, it would be a very good drug to take for depression-just not for me!

I have been taking toprol for almost 2 months and have experienced most of the side effects mentioned here. I have myasthenia gravis and after severe allergic reactions to many medications. After trying several different meds for hypertension, my doctor prescribed 25 mg of topral.
The strange headaches and dizziness began immediately as well as fatigue, blurred vision and body heat totally unlike hot flashes. Feels like i am on fire when i touch my flesh.
The toprol affected my muscles almost as bad as lisinopril causing breathing difficulties and weakness in my leg and neck muscles to the point where i had to stay in bed for most of the day.
Toprol is a beta blocker and can sometimes cause difficulties for myasthenics but i was told that once i had been taking the medication for awhile the side effects would likely disappear.
Well they got worse and last night i had a myasthenic crisis and will be talking to my doctor about a different medication.
The problem with prescriptions is that most doctors dont have time to monitor their patients on new prescriptions and insurance doesnt support medication education for preventative maintenance so meds end up sometimes putting patients in life threatening situations.
There has to be a solution.

I've been taking Ace inhibitors for several years. Started with captopril, another whose name I don't remember caused marked depression (the others did not), and finally lisinopril. All caused the cough, which went away after taking it for a few months, and starts up again if I stop taking for a while and then resume. Other symptoms I attribute to ace inhibitors in general are a lack of libido, headaches, dizziness, and dramatic, but gradual, hair loss. (I am female.) At one point either the ordering dr or the pharmacy inadvertently doubled my dose from 10 to 20 mg(and I didn't catch the error for quite some time - weeks or months.) When I finally did catch the error, it explained my increased cough, headaches and dizziness, and severe postural hypotension. (I'm up and down a lot at work, and I felt I would almost black out when changing position.) I'm diabetic, and take it to prevent kidney damage. My blood pressure is borderline, and sometimes higher. Unfortunately, the ace inhibitor at 10 mg doesn't seem to lower my blood pressure enough.

Tingling on surface of skin, sore joints, leg cramps. Started taking potassium and the cramps went away. Used to walk my dogs several miles a day after work. No longer have the energy. Tired after a good night's sleep. Loss of motivation. Also experiencing ringing in my ears, headaches and dizziness. I get vertigo just riding my mower in wide circles around trees. My ankles never have been swollen. Now they are swollen on a regular basis. My feet and legs are painful for no reason.

I was prescribed Sulfameth/Trimethoprim 800/160 Tabs a little over a year ago for acne. Not long afterwards started getting bad headaches and dizziness spells, occasionally strong enough to cause vomiting and be temporarily debilitating, resembling vertigo-like symptoms. Began having very vivid dreams/nightmares and waking up exhausted from not getting any rest because of it. Then I started having major post-nasal drip and getting bad sinus/throat infections, a few of which were positively diagnosed as strep. One of the throat infections was bad enough to cause an abscess on my left tonsil which ruptured, causing me to have to go to the ER and get 5 stiches in my throat. At 3 am. Throughout this entire time I kept asking my doctors (dermatologist AND primary physician) if this drug could be causing any of this, they told me basically that it was impossible and even the suggestion of such a thing was ridiculous. I finally took it upon myself and discontinued the use of the drug when I started getting yet another sinus infection, and it cleared up on its own within a day or two, at which time I went back on the meds just for argument's sake if nothing else. Of course, the same symptoms eventually returned and I again stopped taking the meds, and again everything cleared right up. I repeated this process probably 4 or 5 times just to verify and every time was pretty much the exact same sequence of events. I began taking 1/2 the original dosage by breaking the big horse tabs in half and have been doing so ever since with no probs but great results as far as no acne.
Sorry for the long post but felt this could help a lot of people out there with similar situations. The moral of the story? Never doubt yourself and NEVER completely trust your doctors- they are just tools of the drug industry.

I'm amazed that it's prescribed for acne since I broke out worse than I have in a long time after taking it. Using it to treat vaginal infection, extreme bleeding (12 weeks) and now that the bleeding has stopped I have a yeast infection. Also skin sensitive to light, vomiting and severe nausea within 20 minutes if taken on an empty stomache and mild headaches and dizziness that last all day. I'm not generally prone to headaches so this was a noticeable side effect. I wish my RN had told me some of these side effects before hand so I didn't have to wonder what was happening to me and be totally clueless until after 10 days of taking it, coming online and finding that what I'm experiencing is actually "normal" for this drug.

I have been on 10mg for almosta year and have serious headaches and dizziness if I try to stop it for a night, but other than that it works wonders for me and its okay if it makes up to 60-120 minutes for it to kick in.

Glad I found you all. I have a couple questions. I am on 5mg Lisinopril and am already weaning myself off. What other meds do you recommend for blood pressure? Can we just stop taking it? I've only been on it for a couple weeks. I check my b/p daily and it is usually good. So I don't believe I have "high" b/p. I think it went up during pain and stress and my doc decided to keep it in check. I've been getting a lot of headaches and dizziness. I also have MS and Graves disease. So I'm confused and complicated.
Thanks
