Heading symptoms and conditions

I had back surgery in July and caught two infections from the hospital, Staph and pseudonymous. I had a picc-line put in and was put on Cipro oraly and Ancef. I got Steven Johnson syndrome from the Cipro and almost died. I looked like a burn victim and swelled from head to toe that was three weeks ago. They pulled me off the Ancef and Cipro. It took a week of me running 103 + temps and the dr. kept telling me its a virous until the rash showed up and my tongue swelled and private parts and throat started to swell shut before they decided to admit me. Then once all that was done and they figured it out they put me on impernem to kill both infections. They pulled my picc-last week and put me on Doxycycline. I have done my research and know that the two are related I asked my dr. what the chances were of a reaction again he told me less then 1%. Ha! I am seeing an infectious disease dr. by the way. Since I started the Doxycycline last Thursday I have developed hives I called the dr. and was told they are not worried about it because I am not running a 101 temp and I am not swelling, plus they don't even know if the Pseudonymous is cured. What do I do? If I go off the antibiotics I will die and if I stay on them I am probably going to die. My joints hurt all the time now and I am only 31. Do I look for a new dr.? Can someone please help me? This is the only website I have found so far where people have had the same reactions as me. These antibiotics are dangerous they need to be taken off the shelf. I have had Mirena for five months now since Oct. 2008. I seriously thought I was making the best decision after begin told by my doctor that I could not get my tubes tied because I did not inform her before my six week check-up. And she totally talked me into getting mirena. I waited a week to read up on mirena on the official website and i heard nothing but good reviews.Since I had mirena inserted I have had some periodic cramping which did not seem so bad. Yester was the first day i experienced my period since mirena. To my surprise I had no sanitary napkins (pads) available I only had tampons. I was afraid and a little reluctant to use the tampons b/cause I was not sure if it was safe to do so with the IUD in plac, so i decided to research it on the website I google for mirena side effects and my results wer the official website along with tons of others. I decided to check the official site b/cause I thought that they would best be able to answer my question an address my concern about the tampons. Well the did answer my question and said that there was no risk and it was safe to use iI just needed to pay close attention as to how I removed it so as to not remove the device instead. Well anyway I used the tampon and when dear hubby returned from work I rushed to the store to get some sanitary napkins (Pads) b/cause I was still a little scared with the tampons. That whole evening the situation pondered me and I started to think about all the other sites that i came across but never pulled them up and thought that maybe I should b/cause one sub heading caught mu attention which said" I finally got Mirena removed Yeaaa!!!". Anyway this morning I got up and started my research I was shocked by the things I was reading about the side effects which were all things that I was experiencing but had no idea and no clue that the mirena was the cause . Here goes, I experienced the cramping, very uncomfortable at times. Oh my God the extreme hair loss, which i was told that due to increased hormones during pregnancy it happens shortly after giving birth when the hormones are leaving the body and decreasing. Bull shit I am almost six months postpartum hormones are all gone and still i have excessive hair loss. The tiredness and depression I thought was due to me being at home all day. I never have the strength to do simple chores around the house even when I take vitamins. I am always sleepy and sleeping. And the weight gain I thought It was shame on me I had gained over 30lbs since my six week check up. I am always hungry can never seem to stick to a diet or exercise regimine. Pre pregnancy with my last child which I have three I weighed 125 lbs and have always been a fitness fanatic with six pack abs!!! Now I have a barrel so to speak. Which I did not have after giving birth until i started the weight gain that I thought was due to being at home and being stressed with so much going on in my life within the last two years. little did I know MIRENA made me FATTT!!!!!!. I have also had problems with back and chest pain and also total body pain. I have stairs in my recent new home which it literally hurts me to go up and down the stairs b/cause my whole body is in pain I just thought I was fat and out of Shape but I constantly walked pre and post pregnancy so no it's not me its MIRENA!!!. I have also experienced very bad blurry vision. Hell! I thought i was going blind! I could never focus my eyes and they are always cloudy and blurry.I also experience a very annoying ringing sound in my ear like a radio which sometimes last very long. I am so happy to have found this site and realize that nothing is wrong with me it is MIRENA that is the problem and I am going to waste no time to fix it my plan was to have mirena for at least two years then get my tubes removed b/cause I do not want any more kids but I am not waiting any longer I am going to make an appointment to have it removed ASAP!!!! I need my life , my energy, appearance and my happiness back so long MIRENA. I wil;l not miss you one bit I will let you all know how it turns out fell free to comment and ask questions. I think I experienced it all and poor me I did not know. Thank you all so much for this site and information. Oh! my husband will be happy to know that his sexy little house wife did not just happen to deteriorate for no reason!!!!!! he will be reading this site.

I am taking Wellbutrin and it has helped my depression and desire for drugs every day. I have bad ringing in my ears all the time but I can deal with that compared to the good it has done.. The problem is I'm a engineer which requires a lot of concentration that I have lost since I've been on Wellbutrin. I also have memory loss. I can't remember peoples names 2 minutes after they told me. I am a support engineer so I have to tallk to many people every day as well as typing cause and solution. I find myself having to read everything I type over again because I leave out words and sometimes what I type makes no sense at all. Wellbutrin has helped me so much but I think I will have to stop or lose my job. What a choice. Before I started taking Wellbutrin I never felt like I was in tune with the world. Smoking pot worked for me but we all know what the long term effect of that is. Codine also made me feel like I fit in. So Wellbutrin has fixed all those needs and feelings but I just hate the loss of memory, concentration, and ringing in my ears.

I am 38 years old and had Mirena put in on Nov. 26th. The first two months I felt pregnant and was nauseous all the time. That seemed to go away and now I can't stop gaining weight. I am gaining about a pound a week. It is all heading toward my stomach area and it's uncomfortable. I have also begun losing hair, having yeast infections, headaches, acne and pain during sex. I wish I found this site before and wonder if anyone has had similar symptoms and do they go away. I have scheduled to have it removed in 3 weeks. I am afraid to have it removed and feel like should I give it more time. Does anyone have any advice?

I had my Mirena in for about a year and 9months and eventually went to get it taken out on wednesday- 17th Oct, cos of all the side effects- mostly mood swings and acne that never disappeared, despite being told it would. I have NEVER in my life had a spot on my back or chest until I got this put in. I thought, I have had enough and my boyfriend and I decided to just start using condoms because I have had it with hormonal contraceptives. They just dont agree with me, and many others it would seem. I never really put on weight with it, but my stomach is a lot more bloated than it used to be, unsure if it is cos its making me retain water. Whatevs, I feel fine at the moment, having now had it out, but not hugely different.

my period finished the day before I got it out, so I dont know when I'll be due another. I reckon it'll take a while for my hormones to balance out and get rid of the spots etc. So I'm not expecting a quick recovery. I am currently at Uni in edinburgh studying to be a Herbalist and I may see about taking some herbs to help speed up the process.

One thing before I go, I was really pissed off that the nurse in the family planning clinic more or less dismissed my sympthoms, saying it could'nt cause them. I was in no mod to argue, but bloody hell. They must be covering up for some reason or another, or maybe they just don't realise that it DOES cause side-effects and they are WRITTEN ON THE LEAFLET that you get when you get the thing inserted. D'oh.

Anyways, I will try and come back and let you know how it goes, how quickly my moods and spots get better, etc and if anyone wants to ask anything, feel free :D

Weight gain about 13 lbs in 5 months, HELP...My diet is great, and I do not eat sweets and high fat foods..I am not overweight, but am heading there. ANYONE ELSE???

Have been on doxycycline for 3 1/2 weeks for eczema. It has really messed with my urination. Can't seem to completely empty my bladder. Anyone else have that problem?

I was taking Atenolol for a few years and it worked marvelously, but because I am diabetic- my Dr put me on lisinopril because Atenolol supposedly raises your sugar somewhat.

I have only been taking lisinopril for a few days, but I have already noticed headaches, stiff neck and sore joints, nausea and diarrhea, and my pulse seems to be racing. I feel like the blood is rushing to my head so I doubt it is working for my blood pressure.

I also take lipitor and metformin (and low dose aspirin).

I was reading the ingredients, and I am curious why lisinopril wouldnt raise glucose since it contains starch!?

I think I will be heading for the emergency room shortly if my head continues to feel like its going to pop. I would rather go back to Atenolol and deal with the tingling, because at least it maintained my BP which is what I was taking it for.

You make me laugh Silke because you sound just like me. All day the only thing I do is google "weight gain-oral contracepitves and the like in search for an answer to my dilemma. Well the only thing I guess is to sit it out and wait to see what happens. A year seems like a mighty long time (that is another 7 months for me.....lol) but there's not much for me to do. I've exhausted all options. Posting here definitely helps, as is seeing that I'm not suffering alone.
It's just that I have already seen better days and I thought I'm heading towards recovery when I've been dealt a blow this past month. Oh well!

Unexplained sudden weight loss. Can't mention medications to primary physician or to a second opinion doctor; they defend each other and refuse to consider the side effects of their prescriptions. Surely they must receive kick-backs from the drug companies in addition to perks such as lavish dinners! So frustrated! I'm so thin now I don't have a speck of reserve in case of sickness.

I am 33 years old & have had Asthma for about 2 years. With in these 2 years I was in and out of the ER about 5 times. One day I had a F/U appt. w/my doctor who prescribed Singulair to me. At first I thought this was the Wonder Drug. My spasms & Asthma subsided & I was able to do what I needed to do each day. I then started to feel like I was going to dye. I would look at my children and start to cry. I was always irritable w/my husband & then started to get depressed, heading to my bedroom to cry myself to sleep after work & waking up in the middle of the night w/palpitations & thinking this was the "Big One" I'll never see my children again. I went to the doctor & got put on antidepressants and to see a therapist. The antidepressant made me worse, I was weaned off of it & still actually felt like I was going crazy. I asked my doctor if this was one of the side effects of Singulair. He said because of my everyday busy life (Like 5 million other women in the US) I had a lot on my mind & it was not the Med. that I probably was depressed. About a month & a half ago I took myself off Singulair & now I'm am back to my old self. NO anxiety attacks, no depression, ect...I would say though that this drug should be taken off the Market. If this is what a grown adult goes through I can not believe what a child would go through. I think if there is severe side effects from this drug like I experienced, then it should not be prescribed!!

My sons are both on Singulair...The oldest is now 7 and has been on it about 2 1/2 years, I noticed a change in him but thought it was a "boys will be boys mode" so I overlookd it...Then lastyear my son come home from school and would ask to do something, I would tell him no..and he would go off on me, telling me he hated me and wanted to leave my house and never come home. Now in Sept. My children were sick with asthma, I now have 3 children and all 3 with asthma...My 4 yr old is on Singulair and does nothing but acts out with hitting, whines when he gets into trouble. Needless to say its Jan.20 and we are heading back to the doctors after my son has been up the last 4 nights with coughing all night, fine during the day but coughing at night. Im reading this site and freaking out..its so clear, the pale skin, the whine, the outrage with both boys etc etc etc, i will have them taking off of it today. And to think they wanted to put my daughter who is 2 on it. I THINK NOT.

Prednisone for crohns, started at 40mg. i did experience some of the side effects, the muscle burning, hunger and irritation but was happy to live with it as it was actually making better. then a flare up before travelling to my in-laws in poland and took prednisone to control it. the anger, rage because of an icident there was amazing. my father in law wont even ackowledge me and my marriage is heading to the divorce courts. Someone said earlier" it's 2004 their must be better"..Absolutely

Taking Doxycycline for sinus/bronchitis infection. Still have a bad deep dry cough.. wondering if its not from the medication... also have what looks like bug bites on my lower cheeks.. but thinking it might be a rash. Definitley have the headache and disconnected feeling.. can't concentrate or handle reading/light. Heading for Jamaica in 4 days.. I'm gonna stop taking it now.. (only have a few days left).

I took 10Mg for about 1 month. After one and a half weeks I was at the doctor for diareah. He blamed it on a "bug". That subsided but I had two to three bowel movements per day! Then started the stomache cramps and horrible trapped gas. When I go my refill for month 2 I read the literature that stated these symptoms. I stopped taking it that day and the problems went away. Of course my blood pressure is heading back up and the head aches I had previously are returning.

I just switched from mircette to yasmin, b/c on mircette i was experiencing breast swelling and bloating during my 2nd week of pills. Oddly enough, my last month on mircette was the best in a long time, but i switched to yasmin anyway. Well, I'm heading into week 3 and my already large breasts are ridiculously huge and extrememly tender. Worse than I've ever experienced w/ mircette. I think i'm just going to switch back next month. I also didn't realize that the diuretic in yasmin flushes out so many important things like electrolytes and magnesium. Wish condoms were more reliable.
