Health reasons symptoms and conditions

I am soooo glad I found this website.

I had mine inserted in March of 2006. I was so uncomfortable for about three months after. I swear I could feel it bonking around in there and nearly had it removed then.

Since the insertion, I have been slowly gaining weight - with a majority of it in the past year. I was down to my fighting weight in December of 2006 and have packed on nearly 20 since then. The odd thing is - I eat a very healthy diet and I exercise. I'm a massage therapist, so I am always busy and on my feet. There is NO reason for the weight gain. My ring size is smaller than before I got the device inseted, my legs are slim and most of the weight is around my middle which scares the heck out of me for health reasons. I have NEVER had weight issues before the Mirena.

I have struggled with depression and severe anxiety, I have hair growing on my face, I have no energy, a low sex drive, I have tingling in my hands and feet, I'm moody most of the time, and now I think I am starting to get ovarian cysts. I was doubled over in pain about two weeks ago and that is what prompted me to do some research.

I'm making an appointment to have the Mirena removed.

Allergy, not side effect.
62 yr. old male. diagnosed with lung infection associated with smoking and was prescribed 5 x 500 mg Levaquin. I took one with water in the parking lot of the pharmacy. With-in 20 minutes I started getting burning, tingling feelings in my throat and mouth. I drove home , by that time I had huge hives on my back and buttocks. I went back to the doctor immediately.
Other than a rapid heartbeat, the only symptom seems to be the hives which were huge and covered my whole body.The Dr. stated that the episode occurred too soon after I took the pill to be an allergic reaction to the pill, however, I had not eaten or drank any thing that morning other than coffee. I also did not eat anything exotic the day before. I was given a steroid injection at the Dr. office and was prescribed a steroid med pak and an antihistamine. With-in 3 hrs. all the hives were gone. It is now 11 hrs later and I am ok except I am drowsy. If I do not recover well, I will post again to advise.

Mirena history

As I neared 50 years of age, my birth control pills no longer controlled my periods, I began to bleed more and more till I was having periods lasting 2 weeks, with needing to wear 2 super tampons and a pad at the same time and having to change this every 30 minutes to an hour. This was not good for sleep or normal life.

A gynecologist recommended mirena. It really helped knock back the heavy periods and let me leave the house, even plan vacations! But I did put on weight and lost my sex drive, which I attributed to eating more and to my husband not looking very hunky any longer.

After 4 years of this, the last year spent with a gym membership which I used daily and lost no weight, but I am shapelier, well as I was saying, after 4 years, the periods were getting worse again, probably because the mirena had run out. I started getting headaches too. I had a ultrasound and found one of my ovaries is still working so no menopause yet.
I had a new mirena inserted. Of course it hurts. but only for a short time.

Now, after 3 weeks, I am bloated. my leg veins are poking out of my legs. Even the hairs on my legs look like they are standing up all the time, an my eyeballs feel pressure. My eyelids must be swollen too because my eyelashes are pointing down rather than their usual curve upwards,(had a gutatta discovered in my eyes last year when I asked for laser eye surgery, but was turned down due to this problem, maybe caused by Mirena?) and I have strange rashes on the back of my calves and the back of my upper arms, possible acne but I don't know. Doctor appointment is next week for a checkup. I don't know if the benefit on not bleeding so profusely outweighs the side-effects, and with a vacation next month, I am afraid to have the mirena removed.

My insurance paid for the mirena because I have it for health reasons rather than birth control.

I have been experiencing a flu like symptom for over a year now. They started about 2 months after I began taking 350mg of lamictal a day. Symptoms include exhaustion, headache, soar/achy throat, post-nasal drip, TONS of nausea, lack of digestion & regurgitation of food. I am tired and feel warn out all the time... I have had everything checked by doctors and they've found no health reasons to explain these symptom's.

HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS????
