This medication is dangerous and causes serious neurological complications. After taking a prescribed dose for 3 days, I have experienced numbness in most parts of my body including face, muscle stiffness, muscle jerking and intensive weakness. I have also experienced uncontrollable anxiety attacks marked with depression and anger. This is the worst medication I have ever taken and after having stopped taking the pilss for three weeks now, my life hasn't been the same. I've been in the emergency room 4 times and two out of the four times I had an ambulance ride there. It feels like your having a stroke and then the body function comes back after a few minutes of HELL. Please be careful with this medication...very dangerous. I lived a normal healthy life prior to taking this medication.

For Allie; I'm a middle aged male who has had asthma all my life. During my mid thirties it suddenly got very suddenly worse to the point of being life threatening. I had been treated all my life by many doctors as being allegic to rye grasses & chicken feathers. They also said that cold weather was a trigger. I wasn't getting exposed to these triggers & it was getting worse day by day. More visits to the doctor, who told me that it was because I was living in an area high in pollens. This dr introduced me to prednisolone & had me on it every day for 4 years. There was no improvement in my condition (i was actually getting worse & preparing myself for a short life) & the solone created a whole new range of health issues for me. Finally, I found a specialist who discovered the problem. I'm allergic to silicilates (i think that's how you spell it?) & sulphates. I removed them from my diet & my condition improved rapidly. It took me a further 2 years to wean off the solone without rebound! My point is; keep looking for the trigger/s until you find them all. If a doctor tells you it's one thing & removing that trigger dosen't fix it, keep looking! I'm sure that I am allergic to rye grasses & chook feathers, but not near as allergic as I am to tomato paste & wine. I mow lawns for a living these days & live a perfectly healthy life. My asthma is completely under control. So much for pollens & rye grasses putting me in intensive care!

My husband has been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. He is only 37 years old and has lived a very healthy life so far. Two weeks ago he started showing colitis symptoms and between Monday, Jan. 29 to Wed. Feb. 7 (9 days!) he lost 28 pounds! He was given a shot of Prednisone in the ER and prescribed a short regime for it with a gradual decline to ween him off of it as soon as possible. He seems to have the worst and oddest side effects. Has anyone ever experienced this with Prednisone...He slurrs his speech, drools almost constantly, has trouble swallowing, and his face from the upper lip down looks like his face is hanging there. (I had his doctor check for stroke and there was none.) That on top of the nausea, vomitting, dizziness, weakness, and being constantly sleepy. I know it all sounds real bad but he has actually improved since taking the prednisone. At least he's alive and getting better. Hope this helps.

I have had asthma and allergies since I was born. I am 38. I have been on medication since I could remember. I always took Tedril and inhalers as a child. When I was 15 they put me on Prednisone for a lung infection. I was taking 90mg perday and this was almost 100% of my body weight. I got really fat and my family didn't recognize me, had skin and bone aching, really bad acne on face and back, hair on my face, ravinous appetite, the list goes on. I was so depressed, I was suicidal. I swore to myself that I would never take another medication that contained a steroid. I went away to Georgia to school. I changed my diet and ate fruit, grains, nuts and seeds only. I was off all medication for the 1st time in my life. After living away from home for 8 years or so and after living in Florida for 2 years I returned to NJ permanently. I had been visiting home every so often to visit family. I noticed when I came home to NJ that I would always get sick with asthma symptoms, but brushed it off. I was still eating the same...fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. I now have been home to NJ for 3 weeks. I took the train and noticed when I got off the train in Virginia and drove to NJ I got asthma systems worse and worse as I approached NJ. When I got home I was so depressed because I realized that the NJ climate has everything to do with my asthma. I realize it is also my diet and I have to stay off animal products and dairy because when i eat these things in georgia or florida I get a flair up. It is both things. I am back on singulair 10mg, albuterol and allegra D, because I don't know what else to do. I can't breathe if I don't take it. I am miserable and can't breathe without the meds. I have been taking it for 3 wks. I feel great on it...but I know it has its side affects and have to get off it. I eat healthy, work out and hate all drugs. I can only work out if I am on singulair. I know if I move back to Florida and continue my healthy life style that I can get off the meds. But, my family will not be there. This should be a no brainer for me....but its not. Consider moving out of the tristate area.

I wish I could say that my symptoms are something new but they're not. I can only thank God that I found this site and finally feel like I'm not totally crazy! I received a cortisone shot (kenalog and Lidocaine) on June 15th. June 17th I started experiencing tingling down my arms, across my shoulders, serious heartburn, change in tastebuds (sour tasting all the time), which progressed with a sudden case of high blood pressure. My period also came a week late and has not left yet but only taken short vacations (3-5 days of light to no bleeding, followed by a regular flow with some gushes all over again). Two weeks ago I started having a tight sensation in my jaw and cheek with sensitivity right under my ears. I've had periods of dizziness, severe migraines as well as heart palpitations (fluttering in my throat). Added to this is swelling down one side at any given time, changing back and forth with no reasoning. I had severe gastritis and GERP as a result as well.
I too was living a healthy life and regret the moment I agreed to that shot. Does anyone know how long these side effects last? Who do you see to deal with them? Are they mimics of real situations (do heart palpitations turn into heart attacks? gastritis turn into ulcers?)
