Hi- I was on Lopressor 50mgs. twice a day for my slightly elevated BP, MVP, SVT, palpitations, and anxiety attacks. Started having some intermittent chest pain (not bad, just annoying). Dr. switched me to Toprol XL 100 mg/day. Of course, insurance made me get Metoprolol ER 100 mg/day (the generic) but I haven't had a problem with it!! I love taking just 1 pill a day instead of having to juggle the two pills and remembering if and when I took them. I take the pill every morning with breakfast (which is usually an apple and a small bowl of cereal and a glass of water). I have gained some weight since being on the Lopressor, but I started the Dash Diet and have lost about 8 lbs. in about 4 months, not too good but I'm not following the diet as well as I should be! I also get tired and occasionally have problems with hearburn and gas, but anytime you take any kind of medication you will have side effects. Wish I didn't have to take any meds but am not willing to subject myself to the effects of high blood pressure, I would rather have the side effects from the meds. My BP is usually 110/75 now and my heart rate is around 70-75. I'm 47 years old and feeling like I might make it into my 90's now!!

hi i am a newcomer to this site and i have been on prednisone for 3 weeks and actually i took my last pill todayi have also been experiencing side effects like, little sleep, aching bones and muscles, acid reflux/hearburn, quite often urinating and hunger..actually hunger is the only side effect that i don't mind having as i had very little appetite before and is underweight for my height so i actually hope to gain a little weight..how long does it take for the side effects to leave your body and if i only took this for 3 weeks will it leave any permanent damage, like bone problems?????

I am a 42 y/o woman rxed sulfameth far a UTI. I just completed my 5 day rx. From day one I had diarrhea, and stomach upset, but for the past 2 days I have heartburn which was rivaled only by the hearburn when at the end of my pregnancy with twins. It burns when I eat, and when I don't. I have gas, and the burps. And today I have begun to have joint pain in my jaw, throat, and in my chest if I take a deep breath. The strange thing is I have taken Bactrim in the past with no ill effects. Is the generic really that different...or am I just old! Hopefully the side effects will subside now that I have completed my course of meds. (it also made my chronic eczema worse...but just about anything can trigger that)

Migraines don't seem to be any better. I've been taking topamax for almost 3 weeks now and am up to 75mg. I was wondering if the nausea I was having was from my migraines or the topamax but no one mentioned that. I have noticed that I crave water more than coke now and have hearburn a lot. Also not much of an appetite so maybe I will make it into my size 4 pants by summer! No tingling anywhere, no sleeping problems. I thought my crying spells were because of my migraines. Maybe it's the topamax...this is a good web site - although I think we all sound like we're crazy :)
