Feb. 24th2009 I started taking metformin for diabetes and soon after that I noticed that my ears were startingf to feel a little plugged but continued to take the metformin until the end of May. At that time I was getting very hard of hearing. I had myu Dr. change me to hlyberide but only took it for 2 weeks and still was hard of hearing. I went to a audiologist and I checked out as moderate hearing loss with mild nerve loss. I was not hard of hearing before the metformin, so I believe it caused my deafness. With hearing aids in both ears, I still gave a hard time understanding what people are saying because of the nerve deafness. I would like to hear back on thether anyone else has had this reaction. My hearing has not improved even though I take no meds for diabetes. S. W. ******

the day after I used NASONEX nasal spray I started to feel like an increase in pressure on both of my ears. I just kept of swallowing believing it might just be caused by pressure which can be relieved by doing so. Then I noticed that my voice sounds like a robot voice, my hearing suddenly got worse which was so noticeable to me,though currently I am using hearing aids on both of my ears, it was so abrupt that in a matter of 2 nights of using NASONEX NASAL SPRAY it is so hard for me to hear somebody in front or near me even when I am wearing both of my hearing aids.I started to have these symptoms the day after using NASONEX NASAL SPRAY. I have been using loratadine and I don't know if it has any drug reaction with it.

I started on Lisinopril/hctz 10/12.5 mg ten days ago and within four days I had a severe hearing loss in my left ear. I thought it was plugged with wax, but when examined they found nothing. After being referred to a ENT specialist they found nerve damage to the ear and are unsure if I will regain my hearing or not. They are trying to treat the hearing loss with steroids but are unsure if it is reversible. Both the ENT and the internist did not think there was a connection with the Lisinopril. I think there is. I am a healthy 47 year old who has never had a health issuer before ten days ago.

I would love to hear from anyone else with this problem. We need a definitive link to this drug for hearing loss.

I was on Cipro quite often in the early 90's for UTI's. I developed tinniuts that was so bad that I had to get 2 hearing aids. *was told I had "permanent nerve damage" Never attributed it to the drug, and it was presumed that I had hereditary hearing loss "starting with me" (no other hearing problems in my family). In 2000 I had surgery and had lost a lot of blood from internal bleeding and was put on Iron supplements, at the same time I was back on Cipro for a UTI. Since that time it took me 2 years of searching to find out why I have the following problems: Joint pain in my hands and feet. Plantar faciitis in both feet. Tremors in hands, fingers, and toes. Muscle tremors all over my body on occasions. Burning eyes, and hot flashes - then extreme intolerance to cold (I am age 34). Circulation issues (ie.. limbs feeling deadened at nighttime in bed). Difficulty walking - balance worsening. And, "foggy brain" difficulty concentrating, or finding the right word on many occasions.
I was told by my new hollistic doctor that I had a CNS disorder called Dysautonomia. This is also hereditary, and "starting with me".
