Heart arrythmia symptoms and conditions

I had a small stroke associated with weightlifting--my neurologist put me on lipitor 80 mg (despite the fact that my cholesterol was totally normal)--now about 3 months later my liver enzymes have doubled and I have developed a heart arrhythmia I never had before. I have had to go to the emergency department twice from palpitations and diaphoresis

I am a 24 year old female. I got diagnosed with walking pneumonia after having a chest X ray at my doctors office. The doctor prescribed z-pak. I went home and took the first 2 pills and about 2-3 hours after taking it I suddenly experienced uncontrolled rapid heart rate. My heart was pounding so hard i almost fainted. I work in the medical field, and knew immediately that I was in trouble. My husband drove me to the ER, where I was admitted with a heart rate of 186 beats per minute, I honestly felt like i was going to faint, or die. Once they ran several tests and ruled out anything major IE blood clot, they determined I was having an extreme allergic reaction to the z-pak. They gave me IV benadryl and steroids, which immediately started to bring my heart rate down. I do not take any medications ever, other than supplements, this is the first time in 9 years that I have had to take an antibiotic, and this was the only prescription I was taking that day.

I ran across this post as when I got really sick renovating a house I ended up a neurologist who recommended lamictal and that I was bipolar. My symptoms were bad neurological defect inability to concentrate intense burning headache, muscle aches, neurological pain in my arms and general stiffness and fatigue with twitching muscles, heart arrhythmia and anxiety. I couldn't understand how all of a sudden I had become bipolar however was under an extreme amount of stress (living in a half torn apart moldy house with no heat while serving as my own contractor under 300K of debt with no job as my arm pain interfered with my computer consulting practice ). I tried taking anti-depressants. My headaches got much worse and I turned a pale whitish yellow and developed fatty lumps under my skin called lypomas (wellbutrin) my friends (later) said I look like a cadaver. I felt like my symptoms did not match what was generally diagnosed as depression or bipolar but my regular doctor and neurologist insisted that I was depressed in some form or another. After another year or so of being really ill and trying different AD meds and finding no way out I was getting pretty desperate. I heard of a plce in Hawaii that a friend recommended cleans and unbllocks your interal organs using nothing but water. As a scientist and engineer and builder I was skeptical but felt like something like that might be the best path - it was a shot in the dark. I sold the house and dropped $5K on the treatment and trip to the big island It was like being let out of a cage my body turned from yellowish white to pink and healthy looking in less than 5 days. I dropped 20 lbs of the unrecognizable stuff out of my colon and liver. I believe I had a problem with cholestasis - stagnant liver bile that solidifies when you work too hard without drinking enough water causing bad digestion and absorption of nutrients leading to all sorts of problems incldung toxic liver and portal hypertension and jaundice. It's now two years later. The only thing that is wrong with me now is a small amount of fatigue and irritation in my frontal lobe when I work long hours at the computer. Drugs may be helpful to some and I may try an antidepressant to get me over the top but if you start medicating while your organs are not working well due to a lifetime of bad eating and lack of exercise ( or in my case working physically to exhaustion and then ordering out pizza and eating on the run for months on end) you might want to try another way. Oh and I'm not bipolar. Lamictal taken in the state of health I was in would probably have killed me. I'm now 41 and have a new life to look forward to and a whole lot wiser. My heart doctor had put me on toprol xl for my heart arrhythmia but I was also having really bad dizzy spells and feeling like I want to pass out before the toprol.I did pretty good on it for a good while.then out of no where the dizzy speels started back up and feeling like I want to pass out.Had all the other tests and nothing abnormal was found.But I'm still having the same problems.I had done an oxymeter test and found that I was only getting 79% oxygen to my brain.Then was put on an oxygen concentrator.It worked for a short time but the symptoms came back.So I called the doctor Friday to see if I could quit taking the toprol.They you can't quit cold turkey cause you could have a heart attack.That's scary..And I'm a 44 year old female.I'm not quite ready to go just yet.Especially from quitting a medicine.

Just got prescribed Bactrim today for a URI. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and am very sensitive to ANY medications anyway. THANK GOD I had the brains enough to be cautious and only take a 1/2 of a tablet (I am the butt of many jokes in my family because I am almost medication-phobic due to side effects) but I just took a 1/2 a tablet and 11 hours after taking it, I have a swollen face, eyelids, etc., a bloodshot eye, nasal passages are swollen completely shut, have heart palpitations, and my urine is BROWN. Yes, BROWN. OMG I am not taking another pill, it should be removed from the market. You all know that SOME day, we'll be seeing some attorney commercial on TV asking for people that have been injured/death from side effects of this drug......unbelievable doctors are still prescribing this as I believe they've got to be getting complaints about it all the time. I had a friend that worked for a doctor and she told me that SOME doctors push certain drugs to their patients based on the good "perks" the drug reps give their office (lunches for staff, vacations for doctors, etc) shouldn't be that way but is for compensation for prescribing their drugs more than a competitors. Sad. Pray for me no long-term damage has been done.
