This medication, Danazol. seems to have NO side effects for me, and it is the ONLY remedy in several years of suffering from breast tenderness, heaviness, and pain, that has helped! (I have fibrocystic changes.) Danazol is Heaven-sent!!!

After sinus surgery March of 07, I developed a large superficial blood clot in my left thigh. The doctor started my on 1 Lovenox shot and 5 mg of Warfarin a day. After 4 days, I felt a pressure and heaviness in my chest, and was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary embolisms. Was in the hospital for 3 days and Lovenox was increased to 2 times a day. After being discharged, it took me nearly 2 months to feel normal again, but I still had to remain on 5 mg of Warfaring for 4 more months. Everything was fine until mid August when I missed taking the Warfarin for 6 days. Once I started taking it again, I started feeling terrible......pressure and squeezing feeling in my chest, anxiety attacks, dizziness, feeling hungry, diarrhea and nausea at times. One evening I went to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack. All the tests showed I was not having a heart attack, and the D-dimer test showed I was not having blood clots. Even had a cardiac CT scan that was completely normal. It is time for me to get off the Warfarin now, but my doctor doesn't want to take me off it until these other symptoms go away. The doctor now has me taking Lexapro (for anxiety) and Prevacid (for acid reflux), and I am going to see a Gastroenterologist to see if I have acid reflux. I don't know if Warfarin is the cause of my problems, but until all this happened, I was a healthy 59 year old female. I just want to feel normal again!

I took Flomax for three weeks and stopped using it due to its side effects that were totally unacceptable. After my first week of use, I experienced significant back pain over the lower left and right side of my back. The pain would linger throughout the day and dissipated by late afternoon. I also experienced a subtle chest pain along with significant joint pain in each elbow. The elbow joint pain lasted well into the afternoon too. The subtle chest pain would disappear by Noon. What really concerned me was a general weakness in my arms, hands and legs. I couldn't grip, push or pull as I could before, and my legs felt weaker when exercising. In fact, my right arm (I'm right handed) felt much like a limb just "waking up from being asleep". I did not have a tingling sensation, but a heaviness and weakness that was a great concern to me. The urinary flow with Flomax was not great, but OK. After the first week, my doctor wanted me to take two 0.4mg Flomax tablets. I tried two tablets for two days. Two 0.4mg Flomax tablets doubled the intensity of my side effects. I immediately went back to taking one 0.4mg Flomax tablet. I stopped using Flomax after 21 days. Enough was enough. For me, as a 59 year old man, this drug caused more pain than help. I am now on Terazosin and this seems to be working out OK.

Originally, i was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. This was about 6 years ago. I was on a beta-blocker for 3 years. Afterwards i was diagnosed as being hypothyroid (about 2.5 years ago). I've been taking synthroid ever since. At first my dosage was .075 mg. It was changed to .05 mg a year ago. I haven't gained any weight since i became hypothyroid, but i've had many other problems. Some of them include, difficulty swallowing and breathing, heaviness in throat area, memory loss, insomnia, lack of focus. These are the most serious problems.

My husband went on Lisinopril in Feb 07, his bp went down and was regulated his headaches almost left but then he had sinus surgery in mar or apr. He has now developed muscle twitching and now the "doctors" say he has Motor Neuron Disease.... I refuse to believe after reading everyone's side affects that this 41 year old with no family history of this other than 1/2 siblings with high bp that he has this disease. He has experienced neck stiffness like it is broken (had MRI) no broken bones or slipped disc, he has had the chills, hw has vision blurred issues, heaviness in his legs, left side of his body more prominent than the right, he has crazy dreams and thoughts, he feels like he is dying, he doesn't however have any coughs, he has anxiety which they put him on anti depressant. After reading others comment I researched this med, it was developed by venom in a poisonous Brazilian snake. My husband as a child would get bitten by wasps, fire ants etc.. they would rush him to ER for meds and he used to take shots if stung, swells up like a balloon. So in my theory this med has the snake bite affects and I believe this has caused him to have this neuron disease but I can't prove it. His muscles twitch all the time. I believe this drug has been slowly poisoning him to a eventually paralysis to death. I have begged the doctor to take him off. He has but now he is on Atenolol, which is not much better but has no snake venom or ACE inhibitors. Please people email me. I am desperate we need to band together.
Thanks you Joann

I have been taking advair for about three weeks. I notice a strange "heaviness" in my chest and I feel short of breath. I also feel anxious and pre-occupied about my breathing. Last night I got fed up and went to the E.R. The doctor said my lungs where clear- but I still felt "tight". They ended up doing some tests and even a CAT scan but everything was negative. I think that I am stopping this medication. This is very upsetting to me

I have been reading the posting from this site and feel vindated. I have been on Toprol for approximately 1 year and since that time have gained over 25 pounds. Please note that I exercise and diet and have maintained my weight for without any problems; however since starting toprol, my weight is still climbing--no matter what I do! The weight gain has been in my stomach and thigh areas -- to which I have never had a problem before. I have also experienced a heaviness in the chest area and tingling in the hands since beginning the medication. Of course, I have had the echo and stress tests and the results have been wonderful-- no problems.
After reading the problems that others have been experiencing I know that it is not "in my head". I am thinking of discontinuing the toprol and would like to hear from anyone whether the weight gain will stop after stopping the toprol.

I started taking 20mg 6 weeks ago for High Blood Pressure ...im experiencing extreme muscle and stomach cramps...excruciating low back pain....joint pain...i spent this weekend curled in a ball unable to move with elevated pulse and heaviness on my chest. I feel like im slowly poisioning myself. I am med sensitive anyway and cannot force myself to take anymore....the dr says its not the lisinopril...but all these side effects started right after beginning the med. I have no health insurance and cant afford more lab tests and dr appts. Im going to try to survive by using strict DASH diet. I hope it works.

I have taken Advair for only 3-4 weeks - once in the a.m. and once in the p.m. I had a bad case of bronchitis. My doctor gave me Advair and a Z-pack. It really helped. But I have noticed for the past 3 days, that toward the end of the day my chest feels very heavy. It is difficult to breath out. It doesn't feel like the bronchitis I had at all. My chest doesn't feel full. It just feels heavy. I stopped taking the Advair yesterday because I noticed that the heaviness temporarly went away once I took it. I knew there was a connection. My throat is burning. I've been taking coughdrops to sooth it. I guess it helps some. And it has been difficult to talk. Again, it's the breathing out (talking) that seems strained. I hope these symptoms will go away since I've stopped using the Advair. But reading these posts isn't very encouraging.

My last entry was under guest 35975.
I don't look at this site very often, because even though that i find it helpful, I also find it frustrating and somewhat depressing. We are all suffering at the hands of greed in the pharmacuetical, and medical worlds. This pill should have never pased the FDA. I myself have spoken to 5 very reputable law firms about a lawsuit, or class action suit. The problem is we need clinical data, or something close to it. I hope to get something set up where we can all check off our side effects during and after Yasmin usage. I will put it on the link site and on this one. When I will do this I can't say. I have been off this pill for 2 years now, and yet I still suffer from physical problems which cause me to have life issues, one being I find it very hard to get anything accomplished. I went from being a very active self suffiecient, busy equine physical therapist, who ran 3 miles a day and worked out at the gym, to someone who has not been able to adequately exercise in 3 years, and who has gained 25 pounds, and who has been unable to resume a rgular work schedule due to the Fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue symptoms, mixed with all the other stuff. I do thank God everyday that I am getting better, slowly, but I am better.
As for the question someone asked on how I found out I had anemia? Well, I had been complaining to the DR.'s that I felt tired all the time, this was about 3 months after the GI bleed. I eat well, and as I said I was very fit. They told me I was probably just getting out of shape, from lack of exercise, and that I should go exercise. I went to the gym, and got on the treadmill, and pushed myself as I always did. This time I felt like my chest was caving in, so I quickly stopped did deep breathing and a lot of praying. Eventually the heaviness went away, but the irregular heart beats didn't. So I requested an EKG, and ECHO and a CBC, IRON and FERRITIN test. My Iron was at 3% saturation, and my Ferritin was at 3, my Hematocrit was 12, and hemoglobin, in the 30's. I could have died! I had the start of what is called a anemia induced heart attack. The red blood cells were to tight in size to carry oxegyen, and I was short of them.
I urge everyone number one to get off this pill, and get a CBC plus Iron, Ferritin, liver panel, electrolyte panel, crp, and a folate test. These are all blood tests. Then I would also get a saliva test done to check your hormone levels and your Crtisol, and DHEA levels, these control your Adrenals, which are tied to your hormones and vica versa. My horone levels at last check, which was summer 2006, were worse then a POST-Menopausal women. I have aged tremedously because of this, and gained the weight. I barely had any Test. Prog., or Estrogen. The doctors seemed totally unphased and uninterested in this fact, and yet I am ony 42, and I have been battling all this since I was 38. Actually first battle was wghen I was 34. Make sure you get a copy of all your blood work and all your tests, don't take their word that all is okay. Do research, ask questions and be persistent, it is your right to see your medivcal records.
I have since been dropped by my insurance due to all the severe problems I had. I don't go to the Doctor any more, except for a blood test and a yearly GYN visit. Still my past medical expenses during the 3 year Yasmin nightmare, make me look like a bad client.
I urge all of you to change your diets to a more vegetarian diet, it has been shown that balancing your ph is helpful in overcoming most medical problems. The ph Miracle, by Dr. Young is a good book. Eat Organic! All the added hormones in the food today, can cause more hormonal imbalances. Be pro-active in your own health care. Times have changed, pharmacuetical companies and insurance companies run medical schools, and the medical feild now. The Mayo clinic is the only Western Medical place I found that had doctors who seemed to be interested in taking the time. Sadly they like most other medical practices know little about hormones. Ladies we have been Guinea Pigs long enough.
We can be a loud voice if we organize and speak together. This site and the others are good places to learn and vent, as I said I hope to soon have a place where we can start calculating data on our side effects, then maybe a law office will take on the makers of Yamin and shut them down, and bring awareness to what all these pill companies are doing to women.
You know that they linked Premarin with breast cancer, this is another hormonal drug.
Let's not lie down to big medicine ruining our bodies any longer.
By the way has anyone else suffered GI bleeding, or other excessive bleeding?
Or Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue, Adrenal Fatigue?
Also the info on Magnesium is very good and important, Floradix is a great product for naturally and safely raising iron and B vitamins, also take the Omega 3's like UDO's Oils or Nordis Fish oil, and Bcomplex, and C. Don't forget to get your blood work insist on it. God Bless you all! Tricia

I am so glad I found this site!!! I started Yasmin last month and had some weird side effects that at first I blew off. Right leg muscles cramping, severe indegestion, and shortness of breath. Along with a heaviness in my chest and breast area. The leg pain and cramping was the worst---although I did lose over 20 lbs. the first month. I started having pain in my left arm and went to the ER afraid I was having a heart attack! Everything checked out, no clot in the leg and my breathing eased. Then my cycle came(lots of bleeding and clotting) and the migraines started.....my gyn said all was ok.
So I restarted the pill and felt a lot better(thought it was just the first month sdjustment). Turns out I realized I'd started the pack wrong side up and been taking the placebos pills...feeling like an idiot I started the pack right last night and within hours the cramping returned and the heaviness in my chest returned! I was afraid I was having a heart attack! I am done with these pills and am seeing my doctor on Monday to check for any heart damage! Has anyone ever filed claims against this pill? All these forums with women and their horrible similiar side effects seem like a reason to recall the pill.....?

Flowerbabies:
You should check out if your magnesium level is low, that's what has caused my irregular heartbeat. Like I said in a previous post, I felt a heaviness in my chest as well. I finished my last pack of pills on Sunday and I will not be staying on Yasmin. I have never had any heart problems or health problems at all really until I started on birth control. I've read enough to know I don't want to wait until my symptoms get worse to figure out I need to get off of it. Hopefully my BP will start to normalize soon too. I'll keep you all posted.

Has anyone experience re-current chest pain? I'm talking about 8-9 months of it? My chest often feels heavy but sometimes with pain as well?
I have read that several women experience the heaviness, I'm just wondering after 9 months and 4 months of being off Yasmin, it will go away?
Otherwise, please ladies, save the long dialogues to personal phone calls if you would be so thoughtful because think of all teh women joining this site on a daily basis, trying to gather information in 2900 entries? Its hard to deduce and find between personal dialogues.

VOICESI, FLOWERBABIES, SILKE and all the women who have suffered or are presently suffering:
I've been off of Yasmin now for almost 3 months. I've noticed that several people experienced a heaviness in the chest and chest pain? Can all of you say that? My chest pains started in May of this last year. i went off of Yasmin in August. They come and go now, less so, but especially around or just before the on-set of my menstual cycle. Do you know what this could be caused by? I had an EKG and the RN confirmed that I had a slight murmur but that that was not something to be concerned with. There are times at night while I am lying down that my chest feels very heavy, like I can't take full breaths. Is this normal? Does this go away and if so when?
I am between jobs so I only have major medical and I don't want to be panicked about this or rack up more medical bills which I can't afford on this plan or in my current financial state but I wanted to see how common actual chest pain is among users former/current? What is it caused from? It started on the left side in May. Than in July radiated across my chest (felt like it was coming from underneath my breast bone and now when It comes its mostly on my left side. Is that where the heart is or is that rumor?
How and what is the best method to replenish the body after 2.5 years on Yasmin? I've never been fond or responded well to taking vitamins however I've been sick now for all of September and October, two weeks in November and again now for the last week! Alot of chest congestion, stuffed up sinuses and a cough. Sometimes headache. Is getting sick like this for months afterwards common as well?
Unlike many women here, I can't say I experienced anxiety on Yasmin. The prescribing Doctor actually recommended it for anxiety. It helped that enormously however I was in a "fog" alot-tired. They recommended taking it at night and I am now afraid that perhaps the slowing of the heart it created, on top of sleeping and an already tremendously low blood and pulse rate put me at risk otherwise?
I am presently on Orthocept but afraid of going off of it because of the emotional upheaval in the midst of having just moved back across country, looking for full time work.
After reading through so many of these writings now for the last couple of months, I'm absolutely astounded by how many problems women are experiencing. And it is being so heavily advertised I'm sure there are so many more women out there, starting it every day. I see their writings here just starting it...and I just think, this is crazy.
I'm struggling with how to be healthy now and be off of BCP's and stay away from the anti-anxieties and otherwise because my body is so sensitive I've just had so little tolerance for any of them.
HAS ANYONE BEEN ON YASMIN AND GOTTEN OFF IT AND GOTTEN PREGNANT? I'M 37 TOMORROW AND WONDERING HOW SYNTHETIC HORMONES AND ALL THE SYMPTOMS THIS PILL IS CAUSING-HOW IT COULD EFFECT OR IS AFFECTING THE POSSIBILITY FOR PREGNANCY AND HEALTH OF BABIES!!!
HAS ANYONE REPORTED THEIR SYMPTOMS TO THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY AND IF SO, WHAT HAS BEEN THE RESULT?
Many thanks in advance,
Jasmine

I am 65 years old and went on 10 mg for BP about 5 weeks ago. Never having taken anything stronger than a asperin in my whole life I thought I was becoming a hypochondriac.
Besides the somewhat constant coughing which I can tolerate. I am constantly fatiqued. Getting up suddenly makes me very light headed and dizzy. Even raking and bagging leafs was a chore. My wife comments to every one that I exhibit about 25% of my former energy level. I experienced chest pain and a heaviness in my chest the second week on Lisniopril.
I am not a "doctor" friendly person. I hate hospitals and doctors but I have scheduled a appointment with him next week instead of a three month recheck to discuss these symptoms. If it was not for this web site I would have figured this was all in my "head"

Most important, the propoxy took away all the migraine pain. However, I also had ringing in my ears and a heaviness in my thighs when I walked. Not pleasant. I think I'll try to get by for now with Extra Strength Tylenol.

After reading this (I have been taking 25 mg. of Lisinopril for three years or more), I'm beginning to question whether or not it is right for me.
I have begun having strange side effects that match many of those written about here. Odd tension in my neck; occasional breathlessness; fatigue; cough; heaviness in the chest that is NOT related to my heart; inability to lay on my left side without discomfort; and this very annoying sensation as my heart "skips" (actually an extra beat) which started a week ago and has not left yet.
On top of everything else, now my blood pressure is very occasionally SPIKING.....the night before, it might be 137/72, then I wake up and it's an astounding 189/105!! If this drug is supposed to LOWER my blood pressure, why is it swinging so wildly?
The doctor's answer? He is pushing hard to get me to try beta blockers, actually arguing that at lower doses, I probably won't have the associated risks! That is pure garbage! If you take a beta blocker and then suddenly discontinue it without weaning off, or miss a dose, you risk a HEART ATTACK or a severe STROKE!!
Drugs, drugs, drugs.....there's got to be a better way. I'm looking for it right now.

I have been suffering from almost consistent sinus infections since moving to the Virginia area. I never had one before moving to this new climate, where I have been told there a more mold spores and other allergens in the spring and summer. Having no doctor here I went to a walk in clinic for some relief. I was prescribes a 10 day course of Levaquin. The course ended three days ago, and the sinus irritation is still present, now it is more like sinus pain.
Although the yellow and green mucus cleared up, I still have the sinusitis it seems AND side effects from the Levaquin including light-headedness, blurry vision, heaviness in my legs and stiffness in my joints/hands. I also for the past few night have not been able to sleep, waking up every few hours with nervousness or anxiety for no reason. I am only 39 and otherwise was healthy. I am taking vitamins, drinking alot of water and taking cod liver oil now hoping these symptoms will go away.

This is my second day taking methylpred for lumbar vetrebra swelling which causes pain down my left leg. I know I've taken this before but don't remember how I felt on it at that time. This time it's like I'm on high speed. I hardly slept last night. I had to end up take 1/2 xanax just to get a couple of hours of sleep. My pain in my back and leg is already feeling better. I do sense some anxiety and a little heaviness in my chest but I don't know if the medicine is causing this since I do have little bouts of anxiety every now and then - which I think is normal.

I started having Pain again 1 month after my surgery. So My doctor decided to put me on this 6th month treatment of Lupron. Well to be honest I would have rather had 1,000 surgeries then EVER be on this stuff again. I have had even worse pain ever since I started it. I have terrible Hot flashes, Night sweats, and Insomnia. Not to mention It being hard to focus, Being exhausted all the time, and Now Tingling and heaviness in my feet and hands. This medicine has even Made my heart beat so fast it would wake me out of a sound sleep. Its so hard being 16 and Having to fight for your fertility. Some women may find this medication Relieving, well its hell and it has made me miserable from day one. I think I would do Just about anything If I could have never had Endometriosis. Girls I just want you to know I feel your pain and I'm so sorry and Im very sympathetic if you are as miserable as I am.

I took lisinopril and immediately felt a overwhelming sense of panic and doom. I fought to maintain conciousness inasmuch as this is a side effect-- that of fainting-- that can go away during treatment. Then I felt a sense of heaviness in my chest and felt very tired and fatiqued. I didn't feel like I was in my body for awhile. I was having an out of body experience . I didn't take the drug again.

My son is now 6 and was on Singulair for 4 1/2 yrs, since age 18 months. After finding this site I immediately took him off of this medication 6 months ago. He was having so many of the effects listed. Everything from easily upset stomach to "leg heaviness/discomfort", aggression, ADHD type symptoms, frequent skin rashes, telling me he only had bad dreams and not good ones, tantrums. We have also been unable to completely toilet train him. He still wets his pants during the day frequently unless reminded constantly. I have seen some mention of this on the site. All of the other symptoms and behaviours I just thought were normal "boy" things until he started Kindergarten and it was brought to our attention by teachers they were not. When I read this site I realized that nearly every entry seemed to describe my son.
We saw a decrease in aggression and a "settling down" almost immediately after discontinuing Singulair & bathroom accidents decreased & leg/stomach complaints ceased, but still having the bathroom problems w/physical causes ruled out. I am afraid that, after so long on this Medication, the remaining problems we have may be ingrained and habit now. We are still struggling w/school behaviours, etc. After about 6 school conferences w/teacher and principal, etc in Kindergarten we are also checking for ADHD. It scares me to realize that all of this could have been triggered by this medication and I have no way of knowing if the problems will continue. Has anyone else had their child on this med so young for this length of time and had the above problems? If so, how long did it take to resolve the problems after discontinuing the medication (or has it resolved)? I am still seeing improvement since discontinuing the medication but it seems very slow. All of the information on this site makes me wonder how many of the kids out there on meds for ADHD take or have taken Singulair.

After 9 months on Norvasc the symptoms intensified. Very dizzy, weak, nausea from spinning head, insomnia. Num feeling in left hand. Within 24 hours after stopping Norvasc the symptoms started to subside. The heaviness in the chest was there but I thought it was a bad heart. Tests show I have a health heart. I'm diabetic, no meds, and have high blood pressure, I also take Accupril for my blood pressure.
