I was on simcor, which is heavy dose of niacin plus simvastatin. Was taking simvastatin alon and i was fine.
my lipids and trygllicerides were very high so put me on this medication''
I'm sure its the niacin that is the culprit. sever itching on back and inner arms.

Was very red and hot to the touch.

I am now off of it for a week. Continue to have the itching and rash.
It has to be a reaction to the niacin, as that is when it started, I refuse to live with this, Will not take again.

I've been taking fosomax for 16 months. In the last 10 months I have developed a hoarse, cracking voice that has become progressively worse. An evaluation finds a blister on one vocal cord. I don't know whether it is related to fosomax or not -- but am wondering if anyone else has a similar story.

I had the Mirena inserted in March of this year (2008)! I hate it! Shortly after having it inserted I developed huge painful cysts on my ovaries. The doctors insit that the Mirena didn't cause the cysts but b/c there isn't enough hormones in the Mirena, they cyts aren't going away on their own. I had the cyst aspirated which caused the remainder of the fluid to leak out causing an infection in the lining of my abdomen. They put me on a heavy dose of antibiotics and hormoned to get rid of the cyst. For about a week I felt better until the pain came back worse. The cyst had not only come back but gotten bigger. I have to take a double dose of birth control pills now to get rid of the cysts.
For the past week I have been having pain again and not wanting to tell anyone b/c I know they are just as tired of this as I am! I can't sleep at night which makes it nearly impossible to get through the day. My doctor had given me pain medication the first time I had the pain to sleep at night but they are gone and I'm afraid to ask for more at the risk of sounding like a drug addict! I can't take these pills during the day b/c they make me loopy and tired and I am a single mother of a 3 year old little girl plus I work full time! What kills me is the that I had the Mirena inserted b/c I can't handle the extra hormones or remember to take the pill everyday! I can't deal with it anymore. I have gained almost 12 pounds in the last 2 months and I am afraid to exercise b/c of the cysts. I am hungry like I was when I was pregnant and tired all of the time and don't enjoy the things that I used to do. I cry at everything..good or bad...and I just can't take it anymore.
I will post back more when I have this thing removed and hopefully will have some good news.
I do feel like I have to say that I hear about Mirena from a co-worker who absolutely loves it!! She has had no side effects and has had it in for 7 years now! So it's not for everyone...but if you feel side effects...listen to your body and have it removed!!

I have had severe pain for the past 5 years, stemming from 3 herniated discs, and then a fractured thoracic in 2004. I became so addicted to the pain, ( narcotic), meds, and didn't even know it. The pain meds kept me "high", until I went through physical withdrawls ( aka DT's), and never got relief from the pain as I did with methylpred. Last year, I was prescribed 4 mg. in a 5 day pack. This was a very heavy dose, and my nerves were shot! Thanks to our phamacist, I was able to get a prescription in a bottle, rather than a heavy dose by the "pack". Being able to take it "as needed", took the pain completely away. Unfortunaltly, if you have liver problems, as I do, it can take it's toll on your body. After high liver enzymes were revealed, I knew I had to get off of them quick. It is a good alternative to narcotic meds, but then , we all have pain in different ways. I prefer to suffer it out, but if I need meds, I'll only take Methylpred.

Beware of Doxycycline! I was taking it for an infection in my tubes. The ER doc perscribed a heavy dose and now (10 years later) I still experiance the side effects. I am extreemly photosensitive. Here's the thing, if I go out in the sun for any length of time (over an hour) my lips and face swells up. The swelling has gotten so bad that I can't eat - except using a straw. Anyone up for a liquid diet? Not fun! So, I thought the use of sunblocks, etc would help. Nope, in fact it makes my reaction WORSE. How has this affected me? I can't go to the park, I can't do water sports, I can't do snow sports, I can't go to the water park, I can't do pretty much anything that requires me being outside for any real length of time. To this point, doctors have not been able to do anything for me. In my opinion, it simply is not worth it. I hope this makes some of you consider talking to your doctor a little more. I sure wish I had.

my daughter was prescribed singulair at 3 years old after several visits to the ER. her asthma was controlled immediately, but her behavior changed too. she is now 6 (singulair dose upped to 5mg) and has slowly transformed from an intelligent, happy, fearless, excited child to someone who was having trouble in school concentrating, depression, scared of everything, tummy aches, heart palpataions, chronic sinusitis.

we went through several tests from cystic fibrosis to blood work for white blood count and also chrones testing because of the constant stomach irritation and cramping. i finally looked up side effects to singulair two weeks ago...read all of this and took her off of it, and off of zyrtec (please look up zyrtec...BAD STUFF) she is slowly back to her old self but absolutely not angry, depressed, and crying all the time!!!!! just had teacher conferences and her teachers were shocked at her personality switch. they were floored at her drive for learning and her attitude adjustment. they wanted to know what had changed so rapidly!!!!

she still takes advair 100 and i now have her on a heavy dose of vitamins/minerals (including quercitin, omega oil, vitamin a, vitamin c, etc.) recommended in a pediatric asthma health cures book i read. we are working toward a balance in controlling behavior and asthma and i hope to god this works. it is so nice to have my happy daughter back!!!

please, if anyone knows about other successful homeopathic approaches please let me know.
