hey guyz. I'm writing this all the way from Greece.
Im 26 and this is the first time i used contraception. Im in a relationship for two years now and i thought it would be a good idea to give it a try. I am a smoker (not heavy one, smoke like 5 to 8 cigarettes a day). My doctor gave me the Nuvaring as he said there are no side effects.
I am by my nature a livey person expressing my feelings and stuff. Im wearing the ring for two days now and i feel already nauteus. In the beginning i thought it was ok but my mood is turning really bad... Im scared with no reason and feel awkward... I don't know if that is all in my mind or because of the Nuvaring but when i found the website and the lawsuits and all the complaints i took the ring of me and never let it back in... I prefer to suffer a little bit more with my boyfriend (which by the way is amazing and waaaay to supportive) and go back to condoms than to risk my mental and body health. At the bottom line whats the gain if you do unprotected sex when ur not mentally healthy???

Anyhow thats all from me. Good luck to you all :)

I'm trying to determine some sort of pattern based on each woman's experience with different brands (estrogen/progestin levels) of birth control... Recently my gyn prescribed Loestrin 24, I have yet to begin a cycle but am trying to gauge possible side effects.
Generic Ortho-tricyclen: AWFUL!!! Reeked havoc on my emotional stability. Bitchy, moody, impatient, weepy (constantly), and weight gain. I did not notice any sexual side effects though.
Yaz: Better than Ortho... Random periods (heavy one month, non existent the next). Emotionally and sexually I feel fine, but hard to measure after taking Ortho and Cymbalta.

Please share thoughts and experiences

Just got the Mirena out today. I am SO hoping that I can go back to my normal self and not be plagued by anxiety and panic attacks. Can anyone tell me when I can start feeling normal again? I so want this to be over. I was ok for the first six months whilst I bled constantly and then when the bleeding stopped all together panic and anxiety set in. I plan on keeping everyone up to date with how I am going as I think we all need to stick together on this one. There are so many of us out there, I am sure after reading all your posts that it's not just us, we're all in the same boat. I am also excited about all my hair hopefully staying attached to my head from here on in!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, you might think I was the THE spokesperson for Mirena when I previously posted. What I was trying to convey was that we can have similar symptoms even without the IUD if our eating habits and lifestyle are not healthy and if we have our hands full with raising little ones. I didn't want to mislead anyone into thinking that I was symptom free myself. I had many, many good days of feeling great once the 6 month of unpredictable spotting/bleeding was over. However, I have a laundry list of things that were not right and recently had the Mirena removed. The things I'm reading on the site are pretty right on: Fatigue, no to little sex drive, weight gain (expect 7-10 pounds), pain at times during sex, did I mention FATIGUE?, bloated (looking 4-5 months prego at times). After 2 years, I had one whole week of cramping no period and was starting to get sharp pains. I had had enough and had it removed. I need to say that I have never felt better. I had a big period the moment it was removed. I think it's bogus that it thins the lining of the uterus. If that were true, I would not have had a period for a while. It was just the opposite. I had a real heavy one. But boy was it a relief. I don't know what to expect in the coming months with PMS and so forth. I am banking on eating right and exercise and limiting caffeine, sugar and any thing that would affect my emotions and weight.
I'll post again later and let everyone know how the weight loss is going. I did lose 3 pounds after a couple of days. Whew! I had gained 10 with it in the first year. Blessings to all! John 3:16

I started taking Yasminelle (its dosage is much lower than Yasmin's) about 5-6 months ago; the side-effects I endured during the first two months keep coming back as soon as I start a new packet. Side effects such as nausea during the first week of taking the pills, continuous breast pain. These side effects are completely making me seem like a total freak when I am out- I am always complaining about how sick I feel and I also can't drink because as a result i feel queasy and I'd have to stop. Does any one else feel the same way on Yasminelle particularly? i have been searching online for discussions regarding Yasminelle but I have found none at all...anyone else on Yasminelle and do you consider it a good form of birth control?
