I'm 23 years old and had the Mirena put in 6 weeks after our first daughter was born. The first 2 weeks of having it were fine... other than a little struggle implanting it all was going well. Exactly at the 2 week mark I wound up in the ER with what I thought were a bladder infection, hemorrhoids, and swollen lymph nodes in my hip-flexors. Now none of this has been linked to the Mirena, so it could be a fluke, but none of the doctors could figure anything out! My urine sample was clean, my pap was normal, they couldn't find hemorrhoids, and it was a frustrating un-diagnosis. The doc sent me home with pain meds and a local numbing cream, but using the bathroom hurt so bad I had to bite down on a towel to pee! Taking a poop... HA... I've been putting it off for days because I feel like my rectum will tear open! Has anyone else had any of these things? Maybe I'm just ill with a strange disease, but this site has me curious if it isn't the Mirena!

I was diagnosed with epilepsy thirteen years ago. I never had seizures where I would pass out; in the beginning I only had vibrations and this lasted a few days. After several occurrences and ignoring the doctor, I finally went on Neurontin and that worked fairly well for ten years. Over the last three years, however, I've been having periods where I become confused for twenty seconds or so and then come back to reality. I know it's happening and when I try to communicate it's mostly incoherent nonsense.
Since these seizures have picked up, I've tried every medicine in the book! Dopomax, Tegretol, Kepra; you name it, I've tried it. Finally I asked my doctor about Dilantin; I remember my cousin taking it when we were young. I remember him having to get his gums cut and stuff like that but I was out of options.
With the medicine, I seem to be doing okay. I still have periods of confusement, usually at night but when you teach 7th graders that's bound to happen! My question pertains to possible hemorrhoids or skin tags. Has Dilantin been evaluated in terms of causing such discomfort? I had the actual surgery years ago, so my rhoids have been under control for the most part, however, since I started Dilantin, it seems like my butt is always sore.

I was prescribed Z-Pak on Dec 31 2008 and it did help my bronchitis and pneumonia, however the side effects are horrible.....I still have a nagging cough but my breathing is better. I had to take gravol for three nights with this med as I was so nauseated and dizzy. Worse, I have agitated sleep and needing 10 to 12 hours of sleep because of awful sleep I am getting. I stared with diarrhea and hemorrhoids, and vaginal yeast infection. Losing urine with coughing which is due to my age and past pregnancies (53 years old), sore breasts and very sore nipples. Heavy period started 3 days ago.....which has shaken me...... as I went through menopause 11 years ago, yes 11 years ago! I had ringing in my right ear (never before) for 24 hours this week and have altered and less hearing in ear now). This is my 53rd birthday and I will call doctor Monday and see her asap. I am freaked out! Is this all from that med or do I have uterine cancer???

Oh God. i am on the Depo Provera shot. My daughter is 7, I have been rotating between the patch and the shot every other year, because the doctor says its not good to be on the shot for more than a year, something about osteoporosis. Mind you, I haven't had any problems before, but i have been back on the shot i wanna say 6 months, well whatever, i'm on my second dosage. And I am blowing up!And now that i am putting 2 and 2 together, I do have a lot of headaches. i don't know what to do. I have to have birth control because I LOVE SEX. And it helps with my cramps. I mean when I'm not on birth control, I have the kind of cramps that make you feel like you are going to vomit. I'm still small but I have gained 20 pounds! That will not leave! Now i'm debating on getting off birth control all together!!! The patch was cool, but that big ass band-aid is not sexy! It looks like a Nicotine patch. And I was considering the mirena, but you said you gained weight off of that! Oh lord! And I can't take pills because they give me yeast infections! What other methods are there?? Is you know of anything Side effects or what i should consider, email me at ****** Thanks. P.S. All the problems that I was having I didn't put 2 and 2 together until a coworker's hair started falling out due to a Birth Control pill she just started taking. Side effects that I am having are: I have gained 25 pounds and I don't eat shit. Fatigue. Hemorrhoids. Small portions of acne around my hairline. Fast heartbeat sometimes. I felt a kicking feeling in my belly about 3 times. Last week when I caught a cold my vision was blurry. Can't walk up a flight of steps without breathing like a 500 pound woman. A slight headaches. Not excruciating just a dull pain that will not go away until I take some aspirin. Irritability. And gas. This makes me not want to be on any kind of birth control period. I am researching different methods now.

I am taking 20 mg in combination with 12.5 HCZ. It has kept my BP in the normal range of 110/75. In the first day of my lisinopril regimen, I experienced a strange tickle at the back of my throat. My doctor said it was probably nothing. That gradually, over 6 months developed into fits of coughing that hit 2-3 times an hour and continued throughout the night. It was the coughing that made me finally decide to stop the drug. I also had constant mucus drainage down the back of my throat that I'm convinced is connected with the Lisinopril as well, although my doctor disagreed and said I had a low-grade, long term infection. Well, after 3 courses of 3 different antibiotics, it was still there. In the last week, I developed increased coughing fits, and was having an allergic reaction causing rashes under my arms, and itching in all the tender places. Doctor said the rashes and itching was a reaction to the Hydroclorothyazide. I'm now on Norvasc 10 mg. Hopefully this will be a better experience and still give me good control of the numbers.

Just started taking zocor 3 weeks ago. I have noticed some of the symptoms listed by others. I am having trouble with constipation. Now my hemorrhoids are flaring up. My whole bottom is hurting. I also am having charley horses in my legs. I haven't had this problem for years. Has anyone noticed these problems?

I can't say for sure if it's the Simvastatin, but for a couple of weeks I've had hemorrhoids, followed by an intense, hot, gnawing pain in my left hip joint and the side of my left leg, which is also sensitive to touch. This is sometimes accompanied by a chilled feeling.

I have asthmatic bronchitis. In June 2006 I came down with an infection in my lungs, which also set off my asthma. Between the two I was hospitalized and put on 240 mg of intravenous Prednisone and the antibiotic Levaquin. I was cured of the infection and was able breathe normally again but it took a great toll on my body It took me 3 months to taper off of the Prednisone and almost a whole year to feel myself. I was a strong, physically active person before this happened to me and I have not gotten my energy level and endurance back to what I was before I was sick. When I was released from the hospital I went from 160 mg of intravenous Prednisone to 80 mg of pill Prednisone. That step down was too severe and I went through intense joint and muscle pain in my body that it woke me from a sound sleep in the middle of the night. I luckily had an old Vicodin that I took which only made the pain bearable. I should have upped the Prednisone to make it go away but I wanted off. This pain lasted one week with each day getting less. The side effects I experienced from then on were so plentiful that I almost can't remember them all. The physical problems were, thin skin that bruised or ripped and bled profusely with the slightest bump, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, muscle cramps in my legs and hands, sleeplessness, dry mouth and frequent urination. My stomach bloated and got stretch marks. I didn't have any before that. The muscles in my thighs and upper arms atrophied so bad that I could not walk up stairs w/o using my arms to help. My arms were also very weak and I got hemorrhoids; another muscle that was affected. I had a bad case of the drops. I couldn't hold on to anything and broke many glasses. I got moon face that took a couple of weeks to go away after I was off the Prednisone. Because I was on such high doses, my hair died and stopped growing. About 40% of it fell out in one month. It took 6 months to grow back and it all grew back curly. On January 30, 2008 my bronchial tubes closed again due to a sinus infection. Again I was hospitalized with 240 mg of intravenous Prednisone and Levaquin. This time I responded much better, because I jumped on the infection/asthma instead of waiting. I stepped down from 240 to 180 to 90 to 60 and decrease 5 mg a day until I was off. This time I did no lose my hair land did not get hemorrhoids. The other physical effects were pretty much the same but much less severe. However, this time the emotional effects of Prednisone were much worse than last time. I was not a nice person. I was short tempered and argumentative and even had to stop myself from resorting to violence a couple of times. That is definitely not who I am. Prednisone stops your adrenal glands from working and adrenaline is you chemical way of coping with stress. I have been off of the Prednisone for one week and still find it hard to cope with the slightest controversy. My brain is still in a fog and I get confused easily. I cannot handle too many questions at once and forget things. My face is still round. Both times, I have found it the hardest dealing with the Prednisone at the very end and even after I finished taking it. I think it builds up and even though the chemical is suppose to be out of your body in 24 hours, it's effects stay a lot longer. I thought I knew what to expect but the second time was different again. It is a horrible drug but my trade off was breathing. Sometimes I think, that if I have to go through this a few more times, the side effects will kill me before the asthma. I wish all you Prednisone users loads of luck and stay positive.

I have borderline 142/78, I took 5 mg for less than a month,
and all of a sudden I have hemorrhoids. (Never had them in my life before this) I never really had it bad, till on day playing golf, I had a headache. I took some Bayer asprin
and I guess the blood thinners in lisinopril and the asprin.
I had a bloody stool that night and a hemorrhoid since.
I just wonder if anyone else experienced any Gastro-Intestinal
problems. Prep. H is helping

I got a shot of Kenalog by my dermatologist on 3/9. The next week I had a severe case of constipation, followed by hemorrhoids. Once those cleared up, I started my period (an unusual thing for me as I have an underactive thyroid and am taking synthroid for that and to help regulate my periods). As of this writing, it has been 28 days and counting of non-stop bleeding. My OBGYN has even put me on birth control pills to try to control the bleeding. Does anyone know if birth control pills will help stop the bleeding or does it need to run its course? How long before this stuff gets out of your system?

Ive been on the nuvaring for like 6 months and about 2 months ago i realized that i had a lot of edema (swelling) in my arms and legs. I felt like my body was just filled with fluid and yet i felt very dehydrated. I was also gaining weight. I was horribly irritable and snapped on almost everyone but it was the same time every day. I also realized that i had become extremely constipated and developed hemorrhoids but then i would have occurrences of diarrhea in between which was weird for me. I've never had hemorrhoids of any sort ever. I never even thought of it being the nuvaring and i forgot to put it back in this month and i feel like i lost all this fluid ive dropped 5 lbs and i am not irritable like i was. I just figured id post this because these are some of the less common side effects adn just wanted to let people know.
