My son is 10 years old and has been on 5 mg. singulair for 3 years. He has been getting frequent headaches, and is in the bathtub right now screaming with one! Also alot of depression.I just came upon this website accidently ,by searching the internet for what might be causing such headaches in a child. I was shocked at all of these symptoms! I am not going to give him any more singulair. But what is everyone doing to replace it and deal with their kids asthma problems? My son has had so may behavioral issues and being so unreasonable and always thinks were picking on him.To extremes! Very hars to deal with, constantly! TC

I started the pill when i was 14, trying to control my cramps and acne. I have now been on the pill for 4 years. I constantly felt depressed and "blocked" in everything in my life. I gained over 40 pounds in my adolescence and never knew why. I'm taking control of my life now and have lost about 20. I went off the pill about a month ago and I can say with all of my being it was the best move i ever made. Then the acne came. I was devastated. I went back on and feel blocked again. My weight loss has come to a fault and my cravings are out of control. I am going back off of the pill again immediately. However, i don't want my acne to come back. Does anyone know of a great way to control it? creams don't really work for me so I'm not sure what to try. Mabye an herbal remedy? Any suggestions??

hi eryka,
glad i was able to make you feel a little better. i have no idea how long this phase lasts, i was the same as you, doing better for a few months, then started to feel a little worse again,i am now at month 8 without yasmin. it is definately getting easier as far as the anxiety goes.i do still get raging pms symptoms (never had pms before i went on yasmin!) but the way i see it,i would rather have pms for 10 days of the month than be a nervous, tired aching mental wreck the whole month like i was! i do feel that each month i am more and more like my old self,i am able to do most things that i used to do pre yasmin,it's not easy but i get by because i have too much too live for to let this drug take any more of my precious life. i am sure you are the same. like you i am not very keen on western medicine any more. i am going to have acupuncture to see if that will help ease the last of my symptoms and i am also taking a herbal remedy to help balance out my hormones.will keep you posted after i have tried the acupuncture!
best wishes.

My daughter has been taking Singulair for only one week and she is experiencing a bumpy rash on her body.....and red, inflamed cheeks on her face....also kind of bumpy. Feels like a sunburn. After reading all these entries today she will not take a single pill again. Unfortunately, it stopped her wheezing completely. I will try that herbal remedy someone mentioned.

About 2 months ago I was having terrible problems with anxiety, nervousness, feeling of dread and doom, feeling of being detached from myself, shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, gastrointestinal upset, palpitations, feelings of panic, parnoia, fatigue and leg cramps. I would just feel sick at my stomach all the time. I did not want to be around people except for my family. I did not want to be in public places. I could not understand what was going on. I felt like I was losing my mind. One day I was trying to find a way to help my anxiety when I found this site. I was so thankful to find it because I realized I was not the only one feeling this way and had not linked my Yasmin to these problems. Once I found the site I realized my problems had begun after starting Yasmin. They had gradually became increasingly worse until I felt like I couldn't take it anymore. I stopped taking Yasmin soon as I read the postings. I called my GYN and she said this was probably not the reason for my problems, but to stop taking Yasmin to see if the symptoms went away. She said these were unusual side effects, but according to this site they are not so unusual. After a week of being off I still did not feel very much better so I started taking a herbal remedy as a cushion to help me make it until this was out of my body. It has been 2 months now and I feel physically better, but the emotional side effects still linger. Some days are good but I have days that have waves of anxiety, panic and irrational thoughts rush over me. I just want to be my old self again. Does anybody know if you ever get back to your old self?

Hi Viv,
Wow you take 1800mgs 3 times per day. Well I heard the top dose it 5000mgs per day from my shrink. Right now I'm on 2400mgs starting today. So far it seems to be just starting to help w/ the IBS. I only found the dizzyiness and the high as a kite feeling just after increasing my dose but nothing extreme. Maybe he put you up to fast. I started out on 300mgs per day and then upped it only 300mgs every 3 days. Maybe your doc jacked you up to fast to the maxium. My doctor says its a safe medication so I am going to give it my best shot and hope it helps with my IBS it seems to be just starting to slow my mind a little so maybe that will help my gut and I can find better ways to deal w/ my damn stress and learn to relax I have tried every herbal remedy out there and to no avail nothing worked. I'm really rooting for this Neurontin because its costing me my full copay there is no GENERIC for this drug which is very dissapointing if it does work its going to cost me some money to continue to take it. Maybe my doc will write the script for more than one month otherwise I don't think I will be able to keep taking it its very expensive I don't know what people do without insurance to afford their drugs. Anyway hang in there and ask your doctor about going up slow on the drug maybe you did already I don't know. I don't find the side effects to be that bad.

I HAVE HAD THE MIRENA IUD FOR 11 MONTHS. I HAVE GAINED 11 LBS OF UNWANTED WEIGHT. I CONSTANTLY HAVE ABDOMINAL PAIN, BLOATING, AND DISCOMFORT. MY PANTS (EVEN THE LARGER SIZE) CAUSE A STRANGLING PRESSURE AROUND MY WAIST LINE. I OFTEN HAVE PAIN WITH INTERCOURSE. MY MENSTRUAL CYCLE HAS DECREASED BUT THE PMS SYMPTOMS HAVE NOT. I ALREADY HAD A PROBLEM WITH OVARIAN CYST AND THEY HAVE NOT DECREASED. I OFTEN HAVE STRIKING PAIN IN THE LOWER ABDOMINAL AREA AND IN MY PELVIC AREA. I HAVE MIGRAINES HEADACHES, BUT ALSO SOMETHING I HAD PRIOR TO IUD. I ALSO HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A LOT OF CONSTIPATION PROBLEMS, UNKNOWN IF RELATED TO THE IUD OR THE MULTIPLE CYST. MY ENERGY LEVEL IS LOW AND PRIOR TO IMPLANT I WAS OFTEN HYPERACTIVE. ONE BENEFIT IS THAT SINCE MY ENERGY LEVEL AS DECREASED I NO LONGER HAVE INSOMNIA, SOMETHING I HAVE HAD FOR YEARS. I WOULD RATHER BE UP ALL NIGHT, THEN DEPRESSED AND UNCOMFORTABLE EVERYDAY.
I HAD HOPED SOME OF THESE SYMPTOMS WOULD SUBSIDE TO NO AVAIL. I CANNOT LIVE WITH THE INCREASED WEIGHT, DAILY CRAMPS, AND ABDOMINAL PROBLEMS. IF THIS IS A RESULT OF THE MIRENA IUD THEN IT IS TIME TO HAVE IT REMOVED. I WAS LOOKING AT THIS DEVICE TO HELP DECREASE FEMALE COMPLICATIONS I WAS ALREADY EXPERIENCING AND AS I HAVE READ IN THE OTHER POSTED COMMENTS THE IUD HAS ONLY INCREASED AND CREATED MORE SYMPTOMS FOR ME. I ONLY WISH I WOULD HAVE FOUND THIS SITE A YEAR AGO BEFORE THE IMPLANT. I WILL BE CALLING MY OBGYN TODAY FOR AN APPOINTMENT. THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT.
