I must add my recent experience with Prednisone to this forum:

I have been suffering from constant lower back pain and a torn shoulder injury (rotator cuff) for the last several years. A week ago I got a slight case of Poison Ivy. My doctor gave me Prednisone - starting at 60 mgs. a day, tapering down to 10 over 12 days. I was unsure as to whether I wanted to be on a steroid , especially after reading some of the testimonies here at this forum. But I went ahead and took it. I must say this has been one of the most amazing experiences for me.
Not only did my Poison Ivy immediately begin to go away, but lo and behold, practically ALL my back pain and shoulder pain went away. I also found myself with this amazing positive mental attitude. I began to get up and enjoy my job everyday (normally I am somewhat depressed and stressed out). It was such a major change for the better - I feel like I have been living the resurrection!! Yet I know it is only due to absence of pain and increased energy brought on by the Prednisone. I feel like a happier, younger version of myself. Prednisone has even helped me sleep better! So, evidently, for some people, prednisone is a wonder-drug.
I did note a very slight manic edge at times, but never unmanageable and always very positive. As soon as I decrease the dose, the pain and inflammation in my back and shoulder starts to return. What a shame that this drug causes osteoporosis and other long-term affects. I wish I could stay on it forever!!

My freiends I have been diagnosed with everything disease a person can have over the past ten years. I have taken every single anti dep... and alot of other meds that make me misreable. I am convinced that most Dr do not have a clue what they are doing. Im not a Dr but heres a question. If the meds don't really do that much for you why are you taking them still. Ever notice how Dr will increase your dose and encourage you against your own will to stay on them. God the years ive wasted trying to medicate a problem that cant be medicated. Its a soul sickness.. I call it the hidden life of SELF. Dr say that we need to take care of it, we need to help it and we need to make it feel good. but I tell you this Self is a slave to all sorts of desires and lusts that carry spritual power over the faculities of my soul,,, Ie the mind will and emotion. are you one of those who is always doing the very thing that you don't want to do.. Have you ever wondered why,, have you every thought that it is going to take God himself to rid of the self inside that never has enough. Self is a bottomless pit. I do believe in mentel illness but I believe it is caused when a person fights in the mind and in there thinking and reasoning against the spirtual lust in the body. It is this battle that we will always lose ineviatably that makes us manifest the symptoms of mentel illness. there is a way out... THE CROSS AND THE WORD "GET IT IT AND EXCHANGE YOUR LIFE FOR CHRISTS

My Girlfriends' Dr. suggested she get this shot. After reading everything I've read I'm not sure if this is the correct thing for her do to(She asked me to research it for her)... Heres the situation, She was in a pretty bad car wreck at the end of March and a mild wreck at the end of June she has been taking skelaxin for theinjuries to her back and shoulders. She was at Doc. today for a follow up and her neck and upperback was extremely swollen. She has irregular periods already possibly from other medication and doesnt take birth control anymore. Shes slighty overwheight and takes xanax and Effexir(SP?) with the meds shes already on and everything else is there any thing positive about this? We would like to have kids in the future and I'm worried that this shot could have all kinds of adverse affects on her now and down the road....Any suggestions on what she needs to do? The Dr. made it sounds like a cure-all but now I'm not so sure...

Thanks

Hi,

I was on Yasmin for abt 19 months. I decided to stop the pill somewhere end of March after reading all the bad side effects. My last pill was somewhere end of March, i got my period as scheduled after i finish the last pack,

However for my next period which was suppose to be on the 21st of April, it came late on the 26th of April instead and it was not a normal flow of period. So i thought yeahhh at least my period still comes but..................

Heres the thing, I didnt get my period on the 26th of May, i took a pregnancy test somehwere on the 30th of May, it came back negative.

Its now the 22nd of June and I have yet to get my period. I am really worried that my period will never come again. For those who has gone through this post yasmin hell, is this a normal thing and how long did it take ure body to adjust to having normal periods again?

Do u guys thing that this is something to worry abt and i should have it checked out? I am freaking out abt not having my period, cause my body feels yucky, likei hav cramps now and then on my lower abdomen and my nipples are sore, (but strangely enough not my breast) cause usually before i get my period, my breast are the one that are sore!

Please help! I am going out of my mind with worry!

i have been taking singular for several years now. for about that time i have had really strange symptoms and they are just getting worse. i found this website by accident. what ive read here are the exact same problems i am having. i never made any connection to the singulair. anyway, heres whats been going on with me. insomnia, bad indigestion and reflux, dry mouth, itchy skin, extreme forgetfulness/confusion/clumsiness, dizziness, inscreased heart rate, palpitations, weakness, extreme fatigue and all kinds of weird things. i have had every test under the sun to try and figure out why i am like this but they all come back normal. who knows, it might be the singulair, it might not. only way i will find out is if i stop it. after reading everyones posts i am going to stop it anyway. inhalers seem like a much safer and effective option.

In November 05 i went on anxiety medication tried muliple medications and nothing worked i was having more and more panic attacks...THEN...i went away for the weekend and got stuck for 5days without my birthcontrol. Had to stop taking it and wait for my period to come and restart it...Well I was off yasmin for almost 2 months and never felt better in my life!!! I was happy no more irraitablity, mood swings, no more bloating, no more anxiety!!! Started taking it again within days I was miserable again! NO more hormones for me!!!! Ughh Yasmin my worst experience in 24 yrs!

Dear Chrissy,
heart palpitations have subsideddramatically and even though at ovulatoin time this month i had some they were SO MUCH BETTER than last month, have noticed that pulse has slowed at times so its not racing every minute of everyday as it wsa on yasmin and the past two months, is that how it went for you.... Took my pulse few times this week at its slowed a lot so thats encouraging and the blood pressure thing not too sure as i am going to be rechecked in a month as i was just stressing so much about that i thought give it another month and pay it by ear, another sign i guess that the anxiety is easing as a month ago i would have gone to hospital with worry, so when i think im not doing better i look at all the little steps like you said and then you realise its no where near as bad as the past month so heres to hoping its all on ths up for now.
I will be away from the 17th thill the 25th off to perth for a holiday wit my husband and children so i hope you stay well and i look forward to catching up on all the reading on the site when i get home.
big hugs
lisa

Have a great new year

To the girl who asked about getting on antianxiety meds: Heres my story. After 9 months of being off Yasmin and still experiencing anxiety, sleepwalking nightmares that i NEVER had prior to taking that crap fo four month, I decided to get help. I started seeing e therapist who prescribed BUspar. I took it without reservation, but unfortunately it made me feel HORRID. I had the most horrific and gruesome nightmare, woke up screaming for three days in a row, soaked in sweat. The next day I felt like i was stoned, I was paranoid and foggy and had no depth perception. So no more of that I decided and then they gave me zoloft. I couldn't bring myself to take it due to the fact that I KNEW it would be a struggle to get off due to the experiences of my friends who are/ were on it. I decided to just tough it out. Now it has been almost a full year off of it and I am doing better. The anxiety is only about 2 times a month, like when i ovulate and before my period. It is like a tiny wave not a tsunami this time either. Hang in there you will get better but in the meantime i would read HOPE AND HELP FOR YOUR NERVES by DR CLAIRE WEEKS. I swear to god, had Inot picked up that book on AMzaon.com I may have killed myself. Good Luck

Mood swings, upset stomach, WEIGHT GAIN (50+LBS!!), forgetfullness, paranoia, hallucinations, feeling invincible, muscle weakness, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, thin skin, fatigue, not caring about anything, talking a lot, feeling hot all the time, excessive sweating resulting in body odor, not liking things that fly( I was especially freaked out by bugs and birds) lack of tactfullness, I'll add more when I think of them.... and heres the clincher......

one day when I was driving on the highway, I was suddenly convinced my car's engine was on fire.
