Hey Guys,
I'm new to all this but just wanted to share my story with everyone so I feel like i'm not so alone! I'm 23 and was diagnosed with SLE 3 years ago.
It started in my joints and then moved to my kidney's real fast. I now have stage 4 nephritis, finished 6months of cyclophosphamide in Feb and have been on no less than 40-20mg of pred for about 2years. Just when things were starting to look better it has stared in my blood so they are trying to up my dose again. It has thinned my bones so I am on special meds for that now too.
I know taking the pred is something I need to do to live but it comes at a really high price. I don't even look like the same person I used too because of the moon face. I know it's shallow but at 23 it is almost as bad as having to live with this disease. I now have really low self esteem and get anxious all the time, which is affecting my job. As much as I want to come off I also worry that I would have to stop work again as the pred is what keeps me going. All I want to do is get off it though! Anyone know any alternatives? Also, just wondering if you guys are still drinking alcohol while taking pred?
Thanks for listening guys!

Hey guys. I just had a few questions that I wanted to ask before I go back to my doctor and spend another large amount of money for some more useless information. I started taking the Dexpak 6 day yesterday afternoon for 'contact dermatitis', though the doctor refused to run any tests or even ask any questions about what I thought was going on. Anyway, Since yesterday my rash of tiny red spots has gone away, but now my face is red and splotchy, as well as the top of my chest, shoulders, and back. There is no swelling or itching, just a slight warm sensation. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Should I go back to my doctor? Thanks for any and all information you guys can share!

It seems that everyone is having similar symptoms. I have been on Doxy for about 14 days now and I'm feeling worse every day. I am on it because i had been bitten by a tick and contracted Lyme disease. I don't know much about the disease but it has me freaked out. I started taking the antibiotic 2 weeks after being bitten; losing my balance and almost falling to the ground. I also had a couple of dizzy spells after eating. I seemed to feel a little bit better the first week of taking it but started feeling the side effects. It started out with the occasional dizzy spell then came the exhaustion, anxiety, depression, lower back aches, soreness in the back of my eyes, stiff neck, headache in the back of my head, flu like shivers, racing heart, and complete body aches. I also found out the hard way not to go out into the sun while on Doxy. Felt like the tops of my hands were being pricked with a million needles and burning. I wish I could stop taking the drug and be done, but I am already scared about the outcome of the Lyme disease. I hope I can feel normal again soon.

Hey guys, just wanted to thank you for speaking out. I just had a baby three months ago and so my doctor suggested the Mirena. Two months after my pregnancy I had it inserted, however 10 days later I started having these exact symptoms: dizziness/foggy head, anger/anxiety/and moodiness, I new something was wrong. In addition, the string attached to the IUD hurt and irritated me down there. Realizing my gut instinct is usually spot on, I decided to research a little and thankfully found you guys. When I went back to my doctor and informed her of my symptoms she said the symptoms were due to sleep deprivation from the baby ( but I am a stay at home mom, and therefore take naps with my baby) hormones, and that it takes a while to adjust to my body. She said I should stay with it. However after a good 21 days, I had her remove it. It has only been two days and I am still feeling dizzy. I guess it takes a while for the drug to exist your body. My mom has been in the medical profession and has always informed me that the drug companies withhold many truths as they are a franchise and optimally want to make their money. The sicker we stay (sometimes from their own drugs) the richer they become as we now need another drug to counteract the first. Be careful ladies and lets stick together. We know our bodies better then any one else!

Hi I am 45 an been taking 5mg Lisinopril daily for the last 5 years, I am also a very active racing cyclist. Over the last 12 months I have seen my performances drop by 50% and I am so tired all the time, I also feel short of breath, been to docs he ran all the normal tests, nothing showed up, also,I now get terrible headache above my right eye whenever try any exercise. Watch out for grapefruit, it must react with the meds, my throat swelled up almost closed, horrible experience, I now ger blurred vision and muscle weakness. Not on, I have taken myself off the meds to see if things get back to normal, I will be able to monitor the situation based on my cycling performance results and will report back.

Hey guys, quick update from my last post, I went to my doctor yesterday and she said that although the spotting between periods is normal, I shouldn't be spotting all the time. She said I need a BC with a higher dosage, and now she's putting me on Desogen, which is a generic version of Ortho-Cept. If anyone has been on this, please let me know your thoughts.

Hey guys i was given LEVAQUIN for a Bacterial infection, maybe a UTI or some other types pertaining with E-coli. At first i was fine. I was given 750 mg for 5 days. Today is 9 am of the 4th day and i have one more pill to go. First night was fine. Had a few nightmare, specially one pertaining to my umbilical cord poping out of my belly. VERY WEIRD... Second day was ok felt a little weak from the drug, but have severe anxiety attack. On the third day i started noticing. Some sores most probably thrushing form the drug ( years infection ) but more like sores in circles on my tongue. The fourth day i was the worst. My mind could not stop racing. I was very anxious. I could not even sit through a movie without going crazy. I had bed tremors. Left very HOT real quickly and started sweating and then feel cold when there is too much air blowing. Weird things like that. I got a lump in my throat. NOt sore but more like i can swallow my spit. I had no headaches at all from this drug. ( I THINK YOU GUYS NEED TO REALIZE THIS, headaches are caused by this drug if you do not drink A LOT OF WATER. I am now drinking about 4 to 5 liters of water a day. It helps with the JOINT ACES and headaches. BUT NOT the physiological effects. Man those are killers. I think i am going to take my last pill this evening at 7:30 and hope for the best. I have had no fever at all but soem fluxuation in degree of temp from 97 to 99 degree in general. Please if any of you guys have similar symptoms like mine, specially hot and cold sweats and mouth dryness and soars on your tongue. Please email me back i would like your input.
I am going to call my doctor today and ask him what to do but i am sure i ca continue on this drug.
thank you so much for all your post this put my mind at ease !! Because honestly i though that there was something wrong with me.
btw i am a 28 year old male

Hey guys....I'm 27 and have been on this for about 2 years and everything was ok, until a month ago. First... abdomen uncomfortableness, not really pain. Then, I was driving and it seemed like I just couldn't hold my neck up and it was so tired. I just wanted to lay my head down. Weird random muscle pains in my legs like the calfs and thighs. Then one night a pain in my left shoulder blade.....more muscle pain. Oh...and really crazy sweaty feet and sweaty joints like in the back of the legs and in the arms. This went on for about a month. I am posting this because I want to get the word out that it doesn't matter what age and totally normal healthy people can get this. The side effects were not Terrible but weird and not fun. You don't have to have the whole gam-met of anxiety attacks and insomnia. I have been off for 2 weeks and it got a little better...we'll see. Time to take fish oil instead. I will post later. Cya

Hey guys I liked the NuvaRing when I 1st got it from my earlier post and I wasn't able to get the prescription filled in time( some financial stuff happened so I was going to sit this month out) well since I have gotten off it I feel much better no more nausea, or moodiness and my vision has returned, but I have noticed now that my left eye twitches. It took bout a week for the hormones to leave my body and I was an emotional wreck. I was crying more and snapping at my boyfriend over stupid stuff. ( I cried because I couldn't get the "Pirates of the Caribbean" dvd) I liked the comfort but the side effects s...

Hi Everyone,
I have been taking Topamax 25 mg for 1 week. I can't stand it. Today I am to up my dosage to 50 mg.I am not sure if I want to do that. The side effects suck.. I think I would rather just deal with my migraines, at least I know how to do that since I have had them for over 25 years. I have tried everything and nothing has worked so the Dr. and I thought we would give this a try.
I am trying to keep my place of employment happy with trying to cut down on the migraines but nothing works.
Most days I just want to give up.
Hopefully we will be able to figure something out.

I can't stand the pickhands and feet, the stumbling like I am drunk( and I dont' drink) nothing tastes right anymore, I have the shakes and I ache.
And all it does is makes me sleepy and like I am in another world.
I went to work today and made it half an hour before I came home because I stumbled and almost fell over. And when the boss talked to me it was like I wasn't there. So I came home. I don't know but I don't like it at all.

Hey guys. I can't seem to figure out what's going on here. I've always had anxiety but I've been able to control it. About 3 years ago, I started Yasmin & the anxiety raged out of control. I get very severe dizziness/vertigo. Stomach problems, backaches, severe breast soreness. I didn't even start to make the connection until recently to Yasmin. I don't take any other medications (I'm mostly a naturopath) so this is the only chemical I'm putting in my body. I think I need to get off this medication. Thoughts?

It's been 9 days since I stop taking my Yasmin pills and boy do I feel so much better, no more numbness, no more panic/anxiety attacks, no more sickness, I sleep good, I eat good. I feel almost like myself again. I still get some anxiety from time to time but it is going away. Thanks to everyone who post their stories. It really helped me.

To all those who are going through this...hang in there! The ride will end soon.

Hey guys,

Been off Yasmin for a week, still having issues with anxiety, stomach and abdominal pain... I'm trying a new vitamin powder called AllOne - hope it helps... I hate feeling like this... This is kinda gross, but I'm also having this thick, milky discharge. Right when I'm getting my sex drive back too. Nice. Hope you all are hanging in there.

Hey guys! I stopped with Yasmin after I read so many posts here about horrible side effects and now my period is late, well, only few days, but I'm afraid how long is going to take before I start to get my periods regularly! I was on Yasmin for 4 months before that was taking Jeanine, but they start to make mess in my body (two months didnt get period even I was taking pills) and my doctor gave me Yasmin. Now I realized all those pills are bad and I just want to clean my body. In year or two I want to have kids, just hope I'll be able to have them after these pills. I'm so scared now! Someone knows how much time will pass before regular period starts?

ps. sorry on my bad English :)

Hey guys, I have posted on this before...I was on Yasmin for about 6 months, had horrible side effects when I tried to skip my period (anxiety, insomnia, etc) Went off it for 2 months, then went back on it at the advice of my psychiatrist, but felt I wanted to to be off it all together. I am still having horrible nervousness every morning when I wake up...I am also taking klonopin to help me through this time. Anyone using anti-anxiety medicine during this withdrawl period, and how long will it take to get back to normal if I was only back on it for a month?

Hey guys, i was just recently put on advair to assist with my breathing. I have been weezing since allergy season has started. I have never had to use it in the past. I have only been on it for a few days now. my question is - does this take a while to kick in? Cause I still feel I cant breathe that well. I havent experience any of the side effects mentioned, however, I want my damn breathing to improve. I am perfecly healthy according to my doctor, and i have never had asthma, but sometimes had to take an inhaler when i was younger for my allergies - thats all! Any tips on how long this takes to start working?

Hey guys,

I just got out of the hospital after suffering a near fatal pulmonary embolism (blood clot in my lung). It has taken me two months to feel normal and I am permenantly off the BC pills and am on an antidepressant to combat the fear and anxiety that wont let up.

If you choose to be on Yasmin, or any BC for that matter, please be careful. Clots are no joke and I am one of the lucky ones who survived to tell the story.

Hey guys, I am a nineteen year old with PCOS. I am so amazed by what I've read here. You all hit it dead on, with the headaches above/behind the right eye, the dizziness, the breast swelling and tenderness and the nausea. I've had a continous period for nearly 6 weeks now..I was given hormones to induce my period, but my gyno said that it should only last 2-3 weeks at the most.. After it started, I took the Yasmin and have been bleeding ever since. I'm only taking Yasmin to regulate my period. I haven't had any problems with my skin, but I have problems when I stand up, just a very lightheaded feeling..I'm constantly hungry..but I walk a lot, so my weight has stayed about the same. I think my vision has gotten worse and I've had the fatigue that you are all talking about. Now that I know that other people are having the exact same side effects that I am, I'm getting off this pill! If anyone would like to talk about this, email me at
fresno_refugee@hotmail.com please!
