My experience with this pill pretty much sounds like everyonelse's. I had horrible mood swings and I lost so much hair and gained weight. I also had several yeast infections! It was horrible. I decided to stop taking it, and I still can't lose the weight that I put on with Yasmin. I work out and have changed my eating habits and nothing! It's horrible.

I am a retired Psychologist and former nurse. In April 2008 I went for a post -op check-up following ankle reconstruction surgery in July 2007 ( nine months after the surgery). I was still having a little pain and a lot of swelling in my ankle. The Orthopedic MD gave me a 1 c.c Injection of Kelalog and 3 C.C. of Lidocaine. He knew I am diabetic and didn't take this into consideration. He didn't tell me what he was injecting just got the shot and put it into my ankle with no information or explanation, telling me about risk factors or getting my consent .Three days later my lower legs became very heavy, weak and numb. The next day these feelings moved 12 more inches up my legs, and continued to move up my both legs anf then up body until it got to the middle of my chest and I was having a hard time breathing. I went to the local University hospital and was admitted to the neurology unit. After three days they couldn't figure out what the problem was and discharged me falsifying the discharge diagnosis saying that I was getting better. The neurology residents and their attending MD's emphatically refused to even consider that the injection of Kenalog was the problem. And so it was with another three neurologists I was referred to see. From then until now six months later my life has been hell. My diabetes has been out-of -control ( I had it under good control before the shot). My electrolytes are crazy, calcium high, potassium low, I have had three MRI's, 2 CKat scans, 2 EMG tests, nuclear scans of my para thyroid glands, at least 100 lab tests, dimpling in both my ankles and lower legs, and the heaviness, weakness and numbness coming and going in my legs so bad that I can hardly walk at times. I contacted Bristol-Myers to ask if there is any treatment. Their response was to get records form my doctor--I thought to help me--- but a phone call to their office made me realize it was to cover their own ass's and they don't give a S--- about me or how this drug had messed up my life.I had to cancel two consulting jobs to do Professional presentations costing me over $5000.00. I am 75 years old and now six months later all I can do is wait until this crap gets out of my system and hope I can get my diabetes back under control. I have been put on at least 6 more medications to control my symptoms including insulin shots. What a nightmare!

I was given 20 mg of Prednisone for 10 days for a rash and joint pain.
The pain went away and I felt great the rash got a little better. Two days ago I took my last pill. I woke up that night and my knees gave out. By morning I was great! Next night I woke with knee problem again had to slide down the stairs to the living room. I got to wondering if the knee thing could be associated with the Prednisone. I got on line and read all this terrible stuff. I am so Horrified! Today I am in pain like my body is bruised and my face is swollen a little. I have acid reflux as well. Non of this is typical for me. My knee thing is ok again, but I am just appalled! I have no MED insurance. I hope this isn't the beginning of worse things I am not taking that drug now. The Dr. didn't say I needed to taper...

I hope I have not damaged myself by taking this drug! My heart goes out to all of you! My question is - Why are the Dr.'s prescribing this terrible drug?

There has been at least two documented cases of women having extremely high acid levels due to taking Xeloda. These high levels ultimately caused their deaths. All drugs cause side effects but death is not one listed in any of the literature that Roche presents with this drug. If you are taking this drug please make sure that your acid levels are checked regularly and if you know of someone who had the same complications from Xeloda please contact us.

A round yellow pill with "klor-con 10" printed on pill; I had trouble digesting the tablet. my potassium level would drop too low. Up to 6 to 8 pills, twice aday. Some of the pills would pass thru still intact, no wonder my potassium level was low. ATE foods in high potassium.Still low. Must have a very tough outer skin that I could not absorb. Now take Klor-con M 10,a long white pills, no tough skin, take 4 capsule twice aday along with food with high potassium and the Level is 4.2. I have CM.

Yasmin's diuretic is a potassium sparing diuretic. That's the difference. What that means is that while it flushes out fluids, it spares potassium-thus the risk of high potassium-and hyperkalemia a potentially fatal state!

To your question on research, as electrolytes get out of balance, so does muscle control. IE the number of women here who have suffered muscle twitchs from toe/feet to heart. In particular when the balance of magnesium and calcium is off-set, one experiences murmurs and muscle flacidity!

So have your magnesium, potassium and calcium levels checked pronto!

hi All

Well, the results are back from a blood test an RN took and while I don't have them in front of me, she advised that my potassium is "little bit high". The normal range is 3.6-5.2. i am at 5.7.

so after all I've been reading and the article on Hypokalemia and its risks from yasmin because Yasmin increases potassiium in the blood-I am wondering....??? 6.0 reading is where they recommend an ECG for arrythmias and treatment! And i've been off of Yasmin now for the last 3 months!

I just started a Calcium and Magnesium supplement 1000mg each as I'm convinced the high potassium threw the balance off of these two which regulate heartbeat and rate!!!

Anyone experience high potassium rates? It is one of the greatest risks with Yasmin!
