I have been on synthyroid for at least 7 years, and I still constantly battle fatigue and mood swings. All the doctors thought it was in my head and the last one suggested anti-depressants which I wouldn't go for. I feel depressed because I wake up tired almost every day or at least after 2 hours of being awake I can still just lie down and sleep! It's awful when just the thought of having to walk a block takes huge effort. I used to go to the gym every day but now it takes so much effort to do the smallest thing. I finally have a new doctor who has started to additionally give me Liothyronine (T3) which has given me new hope. I seem to feel better. We are still tweaking the dosage, first it was too low, now too high, but I am hopeful with the right "combo" we can get it right, if not I am considering going to a homeopathic doctor or just going off the stuff entirely, except I am not sure whether that will be worse.....If anyone has any advice or comments, please reply!!!!

My son is 10 years old and has been on Adderall XR for 2 years. About 6 months ago he started pulling his eyelashes out, they are all gone. He can't keep his hands away from his eyes. I am happy to have found the 2 others who have written about their hair pulling experiences. We are now in the process of finding another alternative medication or taking him off completely. I gave him a lower dose yesterday and I did not give him his medicine today and immediately he is better. What a relief for myself and most of all for him to know that he does not have to go through this anymore.

I'm not someone affected by Levaquin, but my boyfriend took Levaquin and now he has blurriness, visual snow, static, and halos. He's having really bad vision, yet his doctor says he has 20/20 vision. He is becoming suicidal and doesn't want to live anymore. He's been to over 30 doctors alone in a few months to find a cure and none of the doctors want to put a blame on Levaquin. He is losing hope and I'm losing hope. He seriously contemplates suicide everyday. Please someone help or e-mail me with anything you did to help your vision if you took Levaquin. If you saw any retina specialist or special doctors that cured the problems that Levaquin damaged. He's willing to fly anywhere in the world to get this fixed. He's going to try acupuncture for the eyes. What other remedies or things should he be trying? My e-mail is ******

Find a good homeopathic / natural homeopathic doctor and go on a diet instaed!!!!
I have always had really bad acne, and I went through all the usual treatments(Antibiotics, accutane....) never helped....
Now Acne is usually caused by some combination of these 4 ROOT CAUSES: Hormones imbalance, liver problems(actaully it could also be other sysetms that clean you body : lungs, kidny, stomach), unhealthy diet and bad skin.
now THE IRONY in it is:
Accutane and antibiotics could help remove bacteria from the skin but they completly fuck up you liver(among other thing). Now whats the point of cleaning you skin if more pimples are going to keep coming out because of bad liver?????????
Also antibiotics and Accutane make you skip MUCH more sensitive(Accutane casues dry skin for evrreybody!!!!!!!!) , so if you stop taking you medication the acne is going to come back 10 times worse cause you just fucked up you liver AND your skin..
SO you cannot reallt stop taking the Meds, kind of like who came first the chicken or the egg.
After my blood test showed that my liver is fucked I didI did the following things
1) Stoped taking any meds
2) Went to a Asian Doc that gave some pills to balance my hurmons and liver, it helped alittle bit, but I still head acne.
3) Then I went to A natural clinic(I think it was called True Star), the put me on a diet( No artificial staff,No sugar no spices no milk no bread products no tomatos dont remmeber the rest) Basicly the idea is they reintroduce all these food back into your diet to see which one casused the acne. I dont think I was diagnosted as "alergic" to any of those food. But my acne did improve becase of the propper diet.(Now I only try to avoid Artificial staff and pure Milk(for some rason cottage and staff like that is better for you ))
4) Went to a homeopathic Doc she fixed my liver and my acne went completele Away!!!!!!!!!!
I guess the lesson to learn is that it is always easier to go after the symptom (acne) with fast "magic" meds, but the right way to go is to cure the root causes of your ilness

Be very wary of this drug! My son was on it for a year and a half ...the last six months were a veritable nightmare for him. Severe anxiety issues (had to be hospitalized at one point ) and depression. Doctors kept saying it was not the medication but when I googled the drug side effects and stumbled on a blog about singulair problems , I told my son and off the medication he went. Within a month he was back to his normal self .
Thank goodness he was old enough to tell me how he was feeling ( 17 years old at the time) but what about very young children on this drug...how can they voice their problems when they don't have the vocabulary or knowledge of what is "normal"?

My beautiful 11 year old daughter was on Adderall XR 20 mg per day for 4 years. After about 2 years she started to develop some minor facial tics. After 3 years the facial tics were worse along with severe head shaking and she also started to develop trichotillomania (obsessive compulsive hair pulling). The hair pulling continued until she was almost bald. Her grades began to drop and she withdrew herself from her friends and family. Finally, we took her off the medication in October 2007 at age 12 and she immediately stopped the tics and hair pulling. We have found 3 other families whose daughters have developed these same symptoms after being on this medication for at least 2 years. We have filed a report with the FDA as our own doctor had no idea that this medication was causing the hair pulling. Now 5 months later her hair is growing and the tics are approximately 97% gone. We have taken her to a homeopathic doctor and she is doing absolutely great now. Marks have gone up and she is smiling and socializing. I am so happy we have our daughter back. The side effects of this drug was definitely not work it.

Does anyone know how to purge this crap out of your system? I've only taken a small number (5) for kidney stones. I had 2 of them back to back...I'm completely clear now -thank god!
I took the last one 10 days ago and the side effects just won't go away...I drink lots of water and finally went to a homeopathic doctor for help...My urologist was of no help. I'm scared that it'll never go away...Can anyone help?

I was on Deltasone for a week prior to Brain Surgery and two weeks thereafter. I weighed 118lbs when I started to take the medication. Within 8 weeks my weight had increased by 62lbs. The increased weight first appeared around my waist then spread. My urine became bright green with large amounts of suspended protein visible to the naked eye. I developed what I was told was IBS which is how the health care system accounted for the blood in my stools. My urinary P.H. level went from a average 7.0 to a 5.0 and below beacuse I no longer absorb potassium. Unusual mood swings, severe anxiety attacks, insomina, muscle spasms, because of the severe heartburn my Zantac dosage was increased leading to more side effects from the Zantac and at one point (for 5 months) my bladder just barely function and I could only pass urine in small quanities even though my bladder was full and painful. After an ultrasound the first urine I passed was 75% gravel to the 25% urine. An average blood pressure reading for me is now 95 over 59 with an elevated pulse. Still the Nova Scotian Health Physicans either did not know or did not believe me that it could possibly be drug side effects. After all I was only on the Deltasone for 3 weeks. I am now seeing a Homeopathic Doctor, an Osteopathic Practioner and a nutritionist. Deltasone/Prednisone should be recognized as a dangerous narcotic.

I have been experiencing all of the same side affects as everyone else here... Pains in legs inability to walk the usual levaquin poison effects. However, when my Western Doctor said there was nothing they could do and I just had to wait it out I decided to take matters into my own hands and see an alternative medicine Doctor. I prescribed the homeopathic single remedies Sulphur and Phosphorus to clear out the levaquin from my body. After a week of that treatment along with various chinese herbs I was given Ginseng & Astragalus Combination a powder tea. (Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang) and another homeopathic remedy Arsenicum album. It has been 3 days since I have seen the Doctor and I went from a wheel chair to a walker! so there is rapid progress. No miracles here just the human healing process at work. I am not telling anyone this will work for them I'm just saying safe effective alternatives are out there. Consult a Homeopathic Doctor and see if they can help! after all no one else is doing anything for the sufferers of Levaquin!

Kim123 - you poor thing, I will have you in my thoughts.
My main side effect has been SEVERE panic attacks and anxiety that of course comes with insomnia, nausea & chest pains.
I am trying very hard to recover without further medication and I'm trying to do it on my own. Sarah, another lovely lady on this site, has been very helpful in regards to this and has suggested some helpful tips.
Have you tried perhaps going to a homeopathic doctor? I tried that and he gave me some teas to help with my nerves, I just started yesterday and I think I need to give them about a week to find out if they work.
I also have an overwhelming feeling of sadness, for no reason at all. I'm just hoping it passes soon. I have been off this pill for three months, and I also took it for three months - so cheer up your recovery time may be less than mine.
All the best kim, and my advice is to distract yourself, keep busy doing things like washing dishes. I know sometimes you feel there's nothing that will help at which point all I did was cry hysterically and cry and cry, after that believe it or not I did feel a bit better.
If anyone has completely recovered, please let us know how many months you have been off yasmin.
Good luck ladies.
Claudia.

I mostly feel good. I had a thyroidectomy in Jan. 2005 and am on 137 mcg. I developed pop up rashes on my hands and arms mostly and they would disappear overnight. I was getting them every day until I went to a homeopathic doctor who gave me stuff to boost my other gland that suffer when the thyroid (the big dog) isnt perfect. In a couple days the rashes disappeared as well as dry skin. I no longer need lotion. The latest issue I have is my tongue seems too large so that it hurts against my teeth especially when I lay down at night. Has anyone heard of that?

I was put on Yasmin several years ago to control symptoms caused by ovarian cysts. I was told this was pretty much the only solution. Against my better judgment, I went on it. Things were ok for a few months but I started having mild side effects. I didn't feel like myself and my sex drive was definitely gone. Two years ago I had my thyroid levels checked and found out my TSH level was very high. After doing some research, I found that birth control can affect thyroid levels. I contacted my general doctor and he confirmed my findings. I took Synthroid to control my thyroid for two weeks and had to get off of it. I was like a zombie. I called my general doctor back and asked about stopping everything. He said to contact my ob/gyn and if she ok'd it, then it was fine by him. They agreed but also said there is no connection with the pill and thyroid. Red flag #1. After being off of the pill, my sex drive has not returned. It has been two years now. I asked my ob/gyn to do a hormone profile and they said I was too young to be having any problems like that. Red flag #2. I was tired all the time and had no energy at all. My general doctor gave me pills for depression (which the main side effect is extreme drowsiness). I was so disgusted at this point, I went to a Homeopathic doctor. I was told I had adrenal fatigue (which can be caused by the pill). I have been on a course of natural supplements for a few months and have felt better than I have in a long time. However, the sex drive is still gone and due to the pill, may never return. This has been a horrible strain on my relationship. It's upsetting when you know you should be feeling a certain way and you just don't. I have given up on traditional medicine and the idea of pills being given out without knowing long-term side effects and causing even greater problems. Ladies, if you are experiencing problems on or off the pill, see your doctor. If they offer no help, find another doctor! Also, after looking up Yasmin in a pharmaceutical book, it is listed as one of the WORST pills and listed under definite do not take. Use this pill at your own risk.
