I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis at the end of 2007 and have been on prednisone since then. I started on about 105mg a week and am currently trying to reduce it but it is really hard as the moment the dosage goes down I lose all mobility and cannot even get out of bed. I am only 23 years old and really feeling the disease to the extent that I cannot even cope with my life. The prednisone has really taken its toll on me and the side effects are crazy! I just want to go back to my old self as I am finding it sooo hard to get through a single day. My side effects include:

Insomnia, tooth sensitivity, depression, anxiety, mood swings, moon face (my face is so swollen that I cant stand looking in the mirror anymore, dizziness, temper, feelings of uselessness, nightmares, night sweats, water retention, and to top it all off the arthritis is getting worse and I am in constant pain. Is there anything anyone can suggest then please help me!

Hi, I've been diagnosed PCOS at the beginning of 2007. Since then I'm on Yasmin and Metformin, but I've been reading so many terrible side effects... they say PCOS is a genetic disease and there is no cure for it, so I find it quite frustrating the idea of being under medicaments until menopause... I'm only 28, I would like to have a child or two and I am quite concerned about the risks of cervix and breast cancer. I am living in Italy and they seem to have the same view of doctors in the UK and US about PCOS. I have never had any particular problems before being diagnosed PCOS, no big pain before period, no acne, I just gained weight during university studies in the UK, but I do not think it is the only cause of this illness. I had also a lot of trouble at the beginning and I cannot tell if it was the combination of Yasmin and Metformin: I had nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc... It's my 3rd year under this treatment, I think I will do it till the end of 2009, then I might stop. Anyone knows of any alternative method, such as acupuncture, or homeopathy or something natural?
You can contact me for anything at: ******.it, as I'm not often on this website.

I would like to know who is NOT experiencing side effects from Singulair.
We are not.
My 7 years old started Singulair three months ago because of allergy issues. She had asthma attack every other week, running nose all the time, she was so miserable, she missed many days of school and she couldn't exercise .Since she started to take SIngulair her allergy improved, no more asthma, no more running nose. SIngulair did not change her way to be. She is doing very good in school (she is above the average..) she does piano, ice skating, she is purple belt Tae Know Doe, speak two languages, she is doing great in everything. Of course she has her "bad moments" but which child does not?
I tried homeopathy, but it did not work, she got worst and worst. I was supposed to give SIngulair to my daughter a year ago, I did not because I was afraid of the side effects. But I wished I had started before because I could have avoid so much steroids since she had asthma most of the time. The doctor convinced me to use this medicine when she said " You think SIngulair has side effects, yes sometime it does, but do you know the danger of using steroids so frequently in a little body?" Then I thought I had to give a try. I am glad I did. Of course I keep watching my daughter behavior closely and reading all the possible side effects of this medication. I forgot to say that beside singulair my daughter is also taking Pulmicort, two puffs once a day.

My 3 year old is on 5mg of singular daily for her constant allergy issues and has had NO trouble at all with it. Her personality has not changed.. she's happy, outgoing, friendly and MUCH better than she was before she started the medication. Prior to starting she was constantly dripping from her nose, she had both ears filled with fluid, had bags under her eyes and was tired and grumpy all the time, due to allergies we could not get under control with other over the counter or prescription meds. Since being on Singulair she's been 100% better than she was. I'm sad to hear that others are having so much trouble with it, but I can say that I am happy my little girl is feeling better.

Took Limbrel for 1 week and started experiencing fevers for 7+ days some of which were over 103+. Had significant body aches, diarrhea, weakness and fatigue. Stopped taking the Limbrel, but did not make the connection until the second time. Same thing happened. I stopped and got well, but I also used many other remedies such as homeopathy and vitamin IVs. Stayed off for 3 weeks. Then decided it couldn't be the Limbrel, so tried it the third time. The first one I took gave me a fever about 12 hours later. I am calling my doctor first thing in the morning to report this. Very dangerous.

I am so glad I found this site as it has confirmed many of the suspicions I've had about advair for quite some time. I've had the hoarseness, dizziness, memory loss, major weight gain, and major cramps and leg pains. I was even diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis because of the non-stop joint pains etc... The doctors too insisted that non of my troubles were due to the advair and I find this completely maddening that they lead patitents to believe that something is safe when it is not! About 9 months ago, totally fed up with the state my health has fallen to, I began alternative medicine-- acupuncture and am starting homeopathy soon-- and the results have been very promising. I am not using rescue inhaler at all and am weaning myself off the advair. I am starting to feel best I have since I was diagnosed with adult on-set asthma. I would encourage anyone to explore these safe alternatives and would also like to know if anyone has found any "safe" replacement for advair which does help control asthma symptoms w/out the HORRIBLE side effects?

hi I'm 28 yrs old and have been diagnosed with endo. i have been taking the Lupron shot since August 07. I'm only suppose to be on them for a year. 2 weeks after my 1st shot, i started getting severe headaches w/ nosebleeds. also, I'm so exhausted all the time. after my 2nd shot i started passing out with severe headaches. i told my doc about it and she took me off the shot til i got a cat scan which came out normal. at the beginning of February 08, i was back in the er room 3x in a matter of 48 hours, thats when an ob/gyn at the hos. gave me another shot of Lupron. since i got this 3rd shot, i started having severe migraines and passing out again along with extreme exhaustion. I'm very angry my doc won't do the hysterectomy. she says, I'm too young. but the shot sends u into perimenopause, whats the difference. i was taking the hormones as well before my doctor took me off the shot but they made me really, really angry all the time. when the doc at the hos. gave me the shot, she didn't put me back on the hormones. this shot is suppose to help me but instead its ruining my life. i have severe headaches and exhaustion with the shot and severe pain without the shot. i don't know what to do. I'm not suppose to have any pain after i get off the shot for up to like months or years i was told. the shot started to where off at the end of January and i had to get it again in February when i was originally suppose to take my 3rd shot. i still have pain in my stomach, it just makes it tolerable. my other side effects r: mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats, no sex drive, extreme nausea, depression, stomach pains, swelling in my stomach, weight gain, and of course severe headaches. this is effecting my life so much. i do not recommend getting the depro lupron shot to anyone. of course everyone is different, but if the shot effects u like this, i recommend u not taking it. i will not be taking my next 1. i will be calling my doc 1st thing tomorrow morning cuz i passed out Friday with my 6 year old daughter here and no one else. i have been so afraid of this happening with my kids here and it has happened. as a mother u don't want your children to have to go thru something like that without no one else around. has anyone else had these side effects? i can live with most of them, but i can't live with the extreme exhaustion and severe headaches with passing out. thank u for listening.

I had three shots over Feb-July of 2005 to clear up severe eczema before my wedding. For whatever reason, my eczema stopped responding to the usual homeopathic remedy I take for it and I had to clear it up quick! Kenalog worked well but definitely having "menstrual irregularities." I've had periods that last two weeks or longer; lately they run 9 days with another "period" shortly after (bright red color). My last shot was July and I've returned to homeopathy but four months later I'm still having "irregularities." Today, during my "side effect" period, I've soaked through a regular tampon every 1.5 hours! How long before this works out of my system!? Arrghhh!

hey dianiella and all the newbies "intelligence lies in learning from others experience, everone wud learn from theres".and my experience as with manys says that trying to find any releif for asthma/allergies or thinking to do away with side effects of the steriod/antibiotic medication ,from the conventional western medication system is like trying to grip sand in ur hands, the more u try the more it slips.ok the western/allopathic docotr has already done the best he can.now take for granted that theres no use from him.
my years long browsing/research says that one shud try
1)chiropractic if he is in USA and has insurance cover or is willing to pay big ammounts.i ahvent persoanlly tried it but from may messages from peoplelike me i did find it has some relevance.
2)homeopathy.the mystery medication.but it takes long time to find complete releif/long time because already our systems are toxicated.the system works stepwise and the first symptoms to leave the body wud be the deadly side effects we already have.i am willing to writemore if one is interested.

above all i want to say that every on neednot go trugh the time taking ardious task of researc and finding the right cure.disease or watever we all r united and each persons experince is like a valuable source of information which wud have been gathered by years of brain storming.so let us unite and make this ordeal a healthy one.

I just received my second shot for Lupron. I took my first shot three months ago and had very mild side effects. I have some hot flashes, back pain, occasional migraine, and food cravings, but overall I feel better. (I have metastatic breast cancer that has spread to bone, which is why I'm taking Lupron, along with Femara and Zometa).

I also continue to take excellent care of myself (which I have for years), including working at a job I love, taking daily long walks, some yoga, very clean diet, acupuncture, homeopathy, and supplements. Taking 200 mg of alpha lipoic acid with meals and eating many snacks throughout the day seems to help with the migraines as this evens out my blood sugar.

Overall I'm pleased with the drug and all my doctors agree that I'm doing extremely well and, amazing as it seems, after quite an ordeal, getting well.

K
