Honor roll symptoms and conditions

My son now 12 has been on Singulair for 5 years, ever since we moved to Florida and figured out he is allergic to half of the crap that grows here. The only problem my son seems to have is that twice he has gotten thrush from it, from not rinsing his mouth out and then eating something right away. While I am now watching him for the other side effects listed here. He is still the same charming funny bright child he has always been. Still on the Honor Roll and still in gifted classes. Singulair isn't for everyone, but it does work for some!

I am an 18 year old senior in high school and I have been taking Singulair since I was in 7th grade (figure 12 or 13 years old). I could never understand why as of 7th grade I changed so much and when the reports for Singulair came out in the news, I originally did not pay it any mind, but I decided to see if there was any truth to it. Then, I came across this message board and I was reading exactly what I have been going through for about 5 years. This is amazing. I thought that there was something wrong with *me*. I felt disconnected from my siblings and could not understand what was happening. I never even thought there was some connection between my emotional state and the medication I was on.

I used to be a straight-A student and as the years have progressed, I have been one who cannot even hold a spot on the honor roll. Also, all of a sudden, I lacked confidence in social situations and was afraid to raise my hand in class. I was a completely different person.

I used to want to kill myself for the littlest thing or even NO reason at all. There was a time I can remember where I held scissors to my wrists with the desire to cut them. There have been times where I'd just go into the fetal position, cry, and generally freak out. There were times where I would just cry for no reason. Almost everyday, I cry for NO REASON, which is why I finally decided to see if these claims about Singular were true.

Reading the messages on this board have pushed me to stop taking Singulair. Thank you! :D I plan on posting an UPDATE in about a week and seeing if my emotional being changes.

My daughter who is 8 has been taking singulair for about 3 years. Her behavior has changed so much and the doctors said it was normal kid things......
She went from a sweet child to one who seems to have these horrible mood swings which cause her to lash out and say mean things, nobody loves her, she wants to run away, she hates me. She gets so angry and slams doors and acts like a child having a tantrum. She has had stomach problems which we went to doctors/specialists for a year......stomach aches at night/sometimes 24 hours a day. She has nightmares and wants me to sleep with her. She does not want to open her curtains because she thinks monsters will come in the windows. She has bad OCD related to germs. She now wants me to go with her when she plays at a neighbors house, she seems to want to know I am close by.
She is very independent and to start this clingy behavior this past year is not normal.
A relative is a doctor and thought my daughter has a touch of ADH but she is honor roll and very well behaved in school so maybe my relative is noticing anxiety in her. I need to call the doctor today and take her off this. I don't know if there is another medication to put her on or if she should be on it. She takes qvar and abuterol inhaler along with claritin D.
I just feel sick reading all these horror stories. I was being told her behavior is normal tantrums to get our attention. Now I know none of this is true.

I have a 9yr that was placed on Singulair about 3 or 4 years ago with Concerta for ADD. He was always coughing at night and the doctor said it was allergies and told me to give him 5mg every night before bed. And the school said he had ADD. Well needless to say, my son weights 48 lbs and has had headaches. But he also doesn't act like a normal 9 yr old should. He does things destructively (breaks toys and destroys things in the house) and states that he doesn't know why he does things. He doesn't want to clean his room, shower, brush his teeth like he used too, and he acts depressed all the time. I ask he whats wrong and he says he doesn't know. He doesn't want to play outside or do anything remotely fun. After reading all these post I'm wondering if I should take him off the medication he's on and see what happens but I'm afraid of more side effects. The doctor says he needs to be on this medication. He has problems going to sleep at night is this a side effect? Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

My name is Krysten im 14 and im in the 8th grade. I'v been taking adderal for almost 4 months now. Before taking adderal I wasent doing good in school, I would always get into fights. My life was miserable. So I asked my doctor if I could try adderal agian. Before when I took adderall my stomach hurt and I wasent feeling the same. Then I wanted to give it a try. A week after I started to feel my self agian, my family and my teachers noticed a huge diffrence in my academics and my ADD. I went from getting E's and D's to getting on the honor role last quarter. I got the most improved in my grade and I was very happy. Now its the final quarter and now im feeling that adderal isant helping as much as it use to I'm worring about if I'm going to do as well as last quorter and im feeling a little anxiety. I went from taking 30 - 40mg in less than a month, Since I take 10mg after school. I also have been exeirencing weird things. When I get up from sitting down, I sometimes get a huge headach, I cant breath for about 30 seconds, I sometimes see stars and Its like a black out also, I get up then I cant see anything its all black, then slowy I can see agian. I would really like to know if i should raise my Mg higher for me to focus more and be happyer over time. I think adderal was a life changer for me. Please answer my question as soon as poosible!

My son is on concerta and has done much better ifocusing in school. I do see mood swings when the concerta wears off and he has been running his fingers through his hair and just told me he is pulling at the hair. Has anyone else experienced the hair issue with this?

My daughter is 14 years old and 2 years ago her allergist put her on Advair due to her asthma. She lasted on Advair for approx 4 months. Within that 4 months she could no longer read, could not concentrate, her grades went from honor roll to straight F's, her vision got worse and she suffered from depression. Two years later she still suffers from depression, memory lose, although she is back on honor roll she still has problems concentrating, and comprehending what she reads. She gets angry very easily, she used to be a very happy person.. I went against her Allergist recommindations to take her off of Adviar and although she refuses to look at the possibly of these reactions I am convinced that this MAJOR changes in my daughter where indeed caused by this medication.
