My college age daughter was diagnosed with allergies and asthma last winter. She had a series of allergy test and results were grasses, dust mites, mold, cats, dogs feathers. Her main complaint was shorness of breath during exercise, boxing and lately tennis. She is a very healthy young lady that played tennis, ate healthy and stayed away from pop and junk food. This sudden breathing issue is baftling. She was put on Singular and the lowest dose of Advair. For 9 months she has been taking these meds and they don't seem to help. What's more baffling is that 6 months ago she developed an eye irritation, itching, swelling and redness of the eye lid. She has see 3 opthalmologists and 1 cornea specialist. They've all said it's "dry eye". Fine, but what is the cause.
I am one to read all the package inserts to all medications. As a professional, having sat on two Institutional Review Board for Animal and Medical Research at Henry Ford Hospital, I am well aware of all the possible side effects that can arrise with medications.
Recently I read up on Singular, I am confinced that there is a definite correlation of the eye problem with the Singular. I have told all the doctors and non seemed to want to speak with the allergist or work with him, or even consider that this is a possibility.
I intend to have her stop this medication and hope and pray that this will problem will cease. If any one has had a similar occurance with Singular, please respond.

I took levaquin, cipro and avalox in a 4 month period due to a severe sinus infection, back in Jan to april of 2006. I had tolerated it most of my life, but at that time, I had had 'neck surgery due to 2 pinched nerves, left shoulder operated on, major tears, due to extreme 'flat roof roofing repair' for 6 months trying to save our 'dream home from satan'. (we lost it, foreclosure)
I complained to my dr the next day, (and most every week) he ignored my halluciations, (actually "snickered" in my face), mood altered, ignored my complaints of feeling like a hot rake tearing my muscle and tendons apart. pain, told me to continue taking it:(, blame me for listening and NOT doing research soon enough, I learned later the dr is supposed to STOP the drugs immediately to rule out tendonitist to prevent pernanent irreverable damage AND it's not to be given to 'muscle challanged people'). after that 3rd round in a 4 month period, I told him I'd rather die than to take them again. mom always told me I was allergic to pennicilin, I wasnt, it helped clear my infection.
I now have hodgkins lyphoma, (affects men mostly, i'm female, 51 yrs of age), I shouldnt have 'this cancer'. My face started breaking out w/2 types of skin cancer, basal cell, and precancer A. keratosis eveywhere. I was 120 lbs, cut muscles, always had been physical. Now, flab, lost mucle strength everywhere. Every day now is filled w/severe pain and NO dr will listen, I've been called crazy so many times, I could puke. The dr's dont WANT TO KNOW because of the extensive lawsuits that will exist due to them NOT knowing side effects and stopping meds, it's their 'brotherhood', protect each other no matter what the patients 'cost' is, as in mine, complete mind and body destruction:(
To MOST people, this drug is okay. To many of us, it's a life destroying slow death. Cant work, cant get disability. Have reached for 'help to heaven' so many times, but never followed through:(. I still HOPE for some dr to listen and do necessary tests so I can sue the crap out of my previous g.p. He should have known . HOPE is a forbidden 4 letter word, yet I cuss like a sailor.
Peace my fellow quin sufferers, Sandie in S.C.

UPDATE!!
I was lucky enough to have found this site on October 10th. I am glad to say that I have been off of Lisinopril for 2 weeks now and I feel great!!
I just went to the doctor and TOLD him I was not taking this med and he suprisingly said OK.
I went back to a generic derivative of Tarka I was on before. The Lisinopril cost $4 and the Tarka costs $30 but that is no price to pay for my sanity!!
I now have no more side effects. My BP is lower now than I can ever remember and my head is out of the clouds and back at home where it belongs. I have no more heart palputations, asleep hands, dry cough, racing and pounding heart or vivid dreams.
Dont be afraid people to go and get off of this terrible for some drug.
Also I have been taking 2 tbls of pure unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar. I am not sure if it is helping but it does seem to give me a lot of energy. Reasearch it. I hope and pray for all the folks posting on this site that your recovery can be as dramatic as mine.
Good luck to all!!!!!!!!

hi guys! about four months ago my doctor switched me from ortho tri cyclen lo(which I had been on for two years) to yasmin. It was the worst experience I have ever had in my entire life. About a week into the medicine I started getting horrible headaches, terrible anxiety and suicidal thoughts. I was sooo scared from this medicine that I stopped taking it thinking that everything was going to get better! Well wasnt I wrong. I developed OCD really bad to a point where I would sit and worry that I would hurt someone I loved or that I would hurt myself. and I had disturbing thoughts in my head that made my anxiety worse. I have been off the medicine for like 4 months and I am now taking 50 mgs of zoloft for my OCD, anxiety, and depression. I am unsure that it is working yet it's only been two weeks! I hope and pray eveyday that I finally start feeling myself! It's been horrible! Has anyone had this experience from this medicine? and if so do you think that I should get a hormone test, because I am almost convinced from reading other posts that my hormones are wacky! Well thanks for reading! and I hope everyone feels better! :)

I received a Kenalog injection in December '06 to provide relief from an allergic reaction. My doctor did NOT inform me of any possible side effects other than drowsiness. Two months later a small dipple formed where the shot was given. I had no idea what it was and just assumed it was a part of getting older (I'm 30). When it began to get deeper, I became extremely worried. It has now been 6 months and the dimple has turned into a very large indentation. I still did not put two and two together and did not think it could have been caused by the steroid injuection. I visited my doctor, the same one who administered the shot in December, to find out what this could possibly be. He said he had no idea!! And even suggested it could be cancer!!!! I came home upset, obviously, thinking I was very sick, possibly even dying!! My sister did some research and found this site, and I am so relieved. But now I am angry at my doctor for not warning me of this possible side effect at the time of the shot AND then diagnosing it as a possible cancer!!! So now I am left with this deformity on my butt and a profound feeling of helplessness. Someone please tell me actions you have taken that have worked, both legally and physically. Will this go away?!?

Hi Silke and all of the ladies struggling with Yasmin,
Well, it is officially, as of now, I AM ONE YEAR YASMIN FREE! I thank God every day that I read these posts and associated my symptoms with the Yasmin I was taking Yasmin for 11 months. I stopped Yasmin in Jan. 2006 after a near death experience with my heart racing, leg pains and very high BP.
After the idiot doctor thought it was "mental" rather than hormonal, I struggled through 10 MORE months of hell on Paxil (which also almost killed me a month later), Xanax, and Effexor. With these psych drugs i gained 35 pounds! So, November 1, 2006 I went prescription free and guess what... I feel so much better!!!! I joined Weight Watchers and am trying to get back to a normal life, one year later. The psych drugs also raised my cholesterol, so I am working on that. My cycles are 29-32 days now, which I can live with. I am in my late thirties with two kids, a wonderful husband and I really needed to get my life back.
I am so upset that the doctor did not listen to me and refused to associate the Yasmin with the symptoms that I had. Why won't anyone believe me? I highly doubt that it is a coincidence that I am so much better without Yasmin and all of the psych drugs. I feel better now than I have in almost 3 years.
I hope and pray for you ladies every day. Thank you for allowing me to post my story. One year ago, I was an absolute mess because of the pill that my OB/GYN thought was so wonderful.

Ladies,
I FINALLY reached the Yasmin hotline to report an adverse reaction to YASMIN. I told the lady on the phone ALL of the effects that it had on me. She said that she would report it to the FDA.
I encourage all of you to call and let the company know what is happening to us. The phone # is 888.237.5394.
This has been such a nightmare (as my previous posts describe) and I hope and pray that they do something soon.
Good luck to all of you. Please keep posting your progress, concerns, etc... we are in this together.

Sherry,
as hard as it seems to be, I fear, we have to be much more patient about that horrible weight gain we're experiencing...
A few days ago I read about a woman, who had the same trouble after going off a bcp and gained about 40 pounds within a few months after getting off her bcp without eating more or doing anything different than before, just like me (it's really 40 pounds!!!! :-( ).
She wasn't able to do anything against it, everything she tried to do seemed to fail... And after about a year the weight gain eased up within a few months and everything got back in balance (the hormones and her weight).
So it seems to last a very long time for some women to fully recover from a bcp, however!! And I fear we are only two of them.... :-(
Everytime I feel that bad again and seem to loose hope completely because of this horrible look of my body I just think about the woman, which I wrote about before, and just hope and pray, that this happens to me, too...
Hang in there!!!
All the best and god's bless! Don't give up!!
Silke

Ladies,
I have had trouble posting on this site and HOPE and pray this one goes through! I have suffered TERRIBLY from this horrible drug, the most prominent side effect has been the unabated weight gain, which got WORSE after going off this HORRIBLE pill(my opinion!). I registered my complaint with both BERLAX LABS and the FDA. If anyone wants to write me directly use THIS email address and I can give you instructions on doing BOTH(I am unable to retrieve my password from this site which I have forgotten and had to REregister on my other email address):*****
Also, I have been working with a MEDICAL INTUITIVE for 3 weeks now. I worked with her for 6 months over the phone, to stem the tide of a chronic ailment and she was incredibly helpful. If anyone is interested in an ALTERNATIVE approach to breaking the cycle of this drug, I HIGHLY recomend working with someone like this. Oprah often has Carolyn Myss, a medical intuitive, on her show. I'd be happy to share this info as well. I have seen significant changes in my overall outlook(which this drug PRAYS on - having a negative, depressive attitude), and the way my body feels. We are now working on the weight gain piece of the puzzle, which will come as my hormones are more in balance. I only took YASMIN for 5 month and experienced bloating and weight gain by month 2(along with the persistent migraines and leg cramps), but the weight continued to SPIKE once going off. I have been off 4 months next week and am doing my best to keep a positive attitude, which I KNOW is very hard to do when you look and feel like someone else is in your body and your clothes don't fit, etc., etc.
I feel your pain; no question.
Another FURIOUS YASMIN user.

To Silke and all the other ladies with the weight troubles from stopping, Im not saying it will work for you but I use to drink apple cider vinager mixed in with water or another beverage like tomato juice and it would keep my weight under control because it acts like a diruetic and has endless health benefits. So try it and see. Its so cheap too. I feel for all of you! I happen to be taking yasmin and have taken it for 2 years. I can only hope and pray that I dont experience your troubles. I will switch in a heartbeat if I get a hint of what you ladies have had! There is a big lawsuit against the ortho evra patch! So many woman have died from using it so ladies dont switch to that whatever you do. Im praying for you all! Good luck. Silke, Sherry, all of you keep us posted. Love, Kim

Hi Ladies
I am now Yasmin-free for three days after taking this poison for four years. I have had so many side effects in the past years and had no idea I was taking something daily that was making me miserable. I developed acid reflux, heart palpitations, panic attacks, exteme mood swings, increase in migraines, fatigue and total lack of sex drive. I am lucky to have a very patient and understanding husband. My personality has changed 100% and I am tired of being sick! If I wasn't for finding this website several days ago, God knows how long I would have continued.
In the past three days I have suffered with menstrual cramps, very sore breasts, clumps of hair loss and a migraine so far, BUT my sex drive has SOARED and I cannot believe it. I hope and pray the withdrawl symptoms will subside.
I am rather dissapointed with my OBGYN office. I called my OB to advise her I had stopped this pill and of course could not talk to her, so I had to speak to a nurse. The nurse totally dismissed my side effects and said she could not possibly believe it was the Yasmin. She demanded to know where I was receiving this information. I told her I received it first hand from women on this website. She giggled and said she had not heard such a thing and said I had to come in to be changed to another pill..... No thanks, no more hormones for me. I will just need to think of another alternative.
Good luck to all of you :)

I am freaking out. I have lyme disease and I was prescribed Levaquin. After two week on this stuff I feel like a cripple. I am waiting for a call from my Dr right now but I have read enough to know to get off it right away. The pain in my joints was bad enough before the Levaquin because lyme attacks the joints, muscles and causes very painful flare ups but the Levaquin added has rendeded me almost lame. I am in great pain, I am unsteady on my feet, I am scared. I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping and my mood has been weird, I am not myself. I am very concerned about the long term damage of Levaquin. I appreciate all the feed back on this drug I was feeling desperate for answers. I hope and pray you all recover from the nasty side effects of Levaquin

I was treated with prednisone for interstitial nephritis in Dec '03. Started at 60 mg for 2 days, then 40mg for 4 weeks. Doctor tapered drug too soon and too fast. Experienced painful swelling of joints of hands, elbows, shoulders, knees and ankles. Plus large, red, hot and very painful rashes and welts on neck, torso, arms, legs, particularly uncomfortable at pressure points like waistband and bra straps/bands (sides of stomach and breasts felt as if on fire). Was put back on prednisone in Feb '04 at 20mg daily and symptoms (which now I realize were side effects) subsided. Currently tapering again starting at 15mg for 3 wks and now on 2nd wk of 3 wks at 10mg...rashes/welts and aches have returned, but not as severe. I will be seeing my doctor in 2 wks for further tapering instructions (kidneys are fine and fully recovered). I had concerns about my "symptoms" being lupus since I got a positive ANA result, albeit a weak one, and my problems stemmed from the initial renal insufficiency. A dermatologist recommended I see and allergist because of the rashes. Although I'm not ruling out lupus or allergies just yet, after reading all the side effects on this website, I would have to think these aches, pains, rashes and swellings are prednisone related and I hope and pray they will go away once I'm off the prednisone. I will persue a more definitive diagnosis if the side effects continue and/or worsen after going off prednisone, but if anyone can offer a timeline as to how long the side effect took to wear off after being on prednisone for about 5-6 months (including tapering period), I would appreciate an e-mail.

I am the Spouse of someone who is addicted to Ultracet. As I found another 50 pills hidden this morning I try to figure out what to do next. My spouse experiences nightmares often and I think her irritability is often due to her intoxification. I too have heard that this is supposed to be NON addicting, very false! I can only hope and pray that my spouse gets a clue and rids herself of this evil before it kills her.

No new side effects, just want to reiterate what Levaquin did to me. What I resent is that no doctor involved ever mentioned problematic and painful side effects of the drug, yet when I had to be admitted to the emergency room for severe muscle and joint pains, the first thing the ER doctor said was "Levaquin causes painful, swollen joints and severe muscle and tendon pain, including rupture of the Achilles tendon."
Amazing that an unknown ER doctor, who had seen my case for less than 5 minutes, immediately caught and explained the cause of my problems. Thank God I hadn't forced myself to exercise, which I had considered doing, as I have now read on this website that exercise exacerbates the problem and could have caused ruptured tendons.
My main symptoms, which gradually grew worse as I continued the drug for 10 days, were metallic taste in my mouth, feeling of tiredness and heaviness in my body, increasing muscle and joint pain, especially in my knees, eventually spreading down the back of my legs toward my ankles. When I finally gave up and went to the Emergency Room, I could barely walk in; had to hold on to walls, chairs, etc. just to stay upright.
The ER doctor stopped the Levaquin and started me on Ibuprofin to combat the inflammation of the joints. (yet another drug??) So far it has been 24 hours since I stopped the Levaquin and I feel a little better - can almost walk again. I hope and pray the side effects will go away quickly, but I'm concerned since reading other people's lingering problems.
Thank you for this forum; I wish I had discovered it sooner!

I have been taking Lipitor for years; 20mg I believe. While I have been watching for side effects nothing really powerful enough struck me to believe without a doubt that it was the drug bothering me. I had already had incidents with other statins prior to the Lipitor.
Recently the bottoms of my feet became very tender, but I ignored it because I am on my feet all day and I also run. I had also noticed that the back of my thumbs felt like I was pinching a nerve because they would "snap" and then become numb and tingle like they were "asleep". Finally I realized that my feet were getting steadily worse. They felt like I had been wearing shoes too tight all day; or wearing new shoes. I would especially notice them after I had put my legs up to rest for awhile. It would always seem worse when I stood back up.
I went off the Lipitor as the likely problem. My feet have improved over a month but they are not right yet. Then of course I start to doubt the original discomfort. But I generally feel better throughout my body (including an improved libido)so I am not going back on them if I can possibly get away without the drugs.
If anybody else had the specific discomfort to their feet I would really like to know.
