Hi Guest 31031!!
Well, out of my experiences with getting off Yasmin, everything looks "pretty normal" (as far as you can say so though....) what's going on with your daughter!!
I've been off Yasmin for about 1,5 years now and still struggling with those problems around ovulation and the time, where my period should start (didn't get it regularly ever since stopping Yasmin!!!).
And another thing: 4 weeks off Yasmin isn't really much, I fear! How long had your daughter been taking Yasmin?
I had been on it for about 5 very long YEARS... And therefor I think I'm having harder times to get back to normal than someone whou only took it for about 1 year or even shorter...
But give it more time, please! At the time of 4 weeks I still felt totally ill and down. And after that time I had those problems every few weeks again, and always around ovulation and starts of my period!
The only thing that you could do is stand by the side of your daughter, keep her going with always telling her, that it WILL get better again after a few days or weeks. And this is one thing I CAN REALLY PROMISE!! It WILL get better again!!
That's what everyone around me (my husband and my parents) always kept telling me, when I was again at that point, where I thought I couldn't go on any longer. And it was the only thing that helped me not to loose hope!! And they were so right!! The nightmare always stopped again after a few days or weeks and I felt myself getting better again!!
Hormonal problems are nothing which can be solved within a few weeks. And the Yasmin-poison takes much longer to get out of your system than only a few weeks. And only when it is completely OUT the hormonal system can start to rebalance without that artificial hormones.
I can imagine how hard it is to see your daughter in such a bad constitution. It was the same with my parents and husband. They were all so worried but a very important thing is: Don't let her know, how worried you are!! Always try to stay strong and sure in telling her, better times are ahead!!
I wish you all the best and god's bless and I swear, you'll get through this with your daughter. And please tell her, that she's not alone, we're all feeling with her!!

@ fairsjk:
It is DEFINITELY not enough to be off that Yasmin shit for 6 weeks to fully recover!!!
I've been off that drug now for 5 months (!!) and I'm still not really back to normal!! Especially the mental symptoms take much more time to get back to a normal level!! I know what I'm saying!! But at last there are very good days between the worse days. Well, but everyone should give it much more time that a few weeks or months.
My research in the internet and talking to my family doctor brought out that it might take nearly a YEAR to be back to 100% normal. That depends on how good your hormonal system is working. Therefore ( and unfortunately in my case...!) it may take a pretty long time until the hormones are finally back in balance again and all the symptoms brought on by Yasmin may disappear.
Just stay strong everybody, there are better times ahead!!!
I'm now taking a natural medicine called "Mönchspfeffer" here in Germany (other name: Agnus Castus) which should help to get the hormones back in balance a little bit faster and lighten symptoms of PMS, such as depression, water retention, headaches, and so on. I've been on it just for a week so that I can't already really say if it works. It's a natural medicine, so it may take about 3 months to see it it's really effective and working good for me. Maybe it's just a little hope for some of us.
All the best to you out there!!

Hi,
I always had terrible hormonal problems, but even doctor don't believe me. I used Yasmin for about three months because of my irregular periods, it was OK for that time or at least not worse than usually and my periods had been regular. I decided to quit just because I am always scared of hormonal medizines and pills. I have been the last weeks on the internet searching for all my actual physical problems and I found out that Yasmin has been even worse to my hormonal system. Since I quited Yasmin, three months ago I don't get my period, my hairs is falling like I were poisoned, the heart goes faster, I am anxious, depressed all time, and off course, there is no need to talk about the 3 or 5 kg I gained. And, what is very strange, is the problem with the "dying extremeties", specially legs. I thought my lately lack of interest on sex was just because I have been feeling so bad lately, specially with the acne, which seemed to be better for a while with the pills, but now it is even worse.
I wouldn't say that Yasmin is completely guilty about the situation, but maybe some women have a very sensible hormonal system, always ready to collapse. Perhaps Yasmin, as usually hormonal treatments are, finally destroyed my already week hormonal system. I love this page, because usually hormonal problems make women feel so strange, that other people, and off course doctors, prefer to diagnostic psicologic problems than real physical hormonal problems.
I wonder if somebody is going through my same problem, slow metabolism, hair loss, heart palpitations, lack of period, over weight, anxiety, sadness, "dying legs", extremely oily hair, and acne. By the way, while I was taking the pill I didn't realized that the hair of the legs had been really growing much faster than it is now.
If somebody went through the same problems, and could tell me how long it took until feeling better, or some recomendations, I would be glad of hearing that.
Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences.

I am a 19-year-old female pre-med student who has been taking this nasty drug for exacly 1 year now.... The amount I am on continues to change, for my disease keeps returning and leaving remission. I finally get down to 10mg from 40mg, and have to go back up when symptoms return!!! This is SO discouraging. The worst part is, no one understands the physical and emotional agony this drug brings on. I'm 19 and feel like I'm 90. My body aches, my weight is constantly fluctuating, I bruise from simply being poked (being a clumsy person, I look like I am beat!!), my bones feel as if they are about to break, and I am SEVERELY despressed. Being in college and taking rigorous classes, this is just too much for me to handle anymore... My 5-year relationship with the love of my life/best friend is falling apart because of my horrible mood swings.. don't blame him for leaving. I feel as if this drug has ruined my life more than the disease itself...Does ANYONE know if one's body and mind returns to "normal" after FINALLY being off this drug??? I pray to God the answer is yes... I would appreciate someone's reply and/or insight, because my Dr. fails to tell me about ANY side effects until I mention something. PLEASE REPLY!!!
