I started the NuvaRing on Oct 1 and felt a flu coming on Oct 5. Oct 6 I had a horrible headache and fever which has been between 99.3 and 100.5. On the 10th I awoke vomiting and developed a yeast infection. It just dawned on me it might be the ring. I googled and found this page. I'll see my general physician tomorrow, not the OBGYN who sold this on me when I complained about heavy periods. I'm using this not as a birth control but pre-men stabilizer. I'm thinking to yank it right now...?

Hi Everyone,
After reading all these posts, I am just hoping that this pill caused me all my problems.
Back in march i had what I could now call a panic attack.. I started sweating and thinking i was going to faint and die.. I managed to run to the coffee shop.. and after a chocolate and few mints resting I was ok..so i thought my blood sugar may be low..... during April and June i could feel my legs very week...i thought i was not eating properly.. so ignored it..At the end of June on my third day of holiday I got the same feeling as i did in march i thought i was fainting and dying...After this episode I had shaky legs all the time..thinking i could faint at any time.. my heart was beating very fast once a day.. I had a blood test done just for thyroid and it was ok... after three weeks of thinking i was dying inside I started feeling very strange like if it was not me.. I was anxious..scared of my dreams..scared of my thoughts.. very anxious in the morning....feeling like i was in a dream and disconnected from my body.. I stopped the pill and it has been two months..i could say i probably got 5% better but i still not feeling like this is my body and my life..feeling I am going crazy.. i am not able to think properly..some sort of brain frog..it feels like if i didn't exist in this world..It has been horrible...headache everyday however I dont know if it is my anxiety or if i have something in my brain..
I just hope this feeling goes away and i can come back to be my old self... i used to love life ..every bit of bit...with bad and goods.
Do you guys have a similar experience?

I have been taking Ambien CR on and off for two years. I began to get migraine headaches two years ago which my gynecologist told me was as symptom of menopause. I then began to note everything I ate and all medications I took when I got these debilitating headache. The only thing in common was I had taken ambien cr the night before. I had massive headaches that even prescription medication would not cure. They would start near my temple and radiate up the side of my head. I would always get them on the right side. I began to notice that when I did not take any ambien for a while, no headaches. As soon as I had one dose of ambien cr, the next day I would wake up with a horrible headache. I have since discontinued taking it and I would rather be awake than live with that kind of pain again.

I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe two weeks ago today. I first accredited the bad period symptoms to just that, bad period symptoms, but after reading this, I realize it was the pill. I was paranoid and stressed out and cried three times, and for someone who's generally laid back and cries maybe twice a year, this was a little concerning. But, I'm willing to stay optimistic and chalk it up as being the first week on the pill to blame and not evidence of anything that will continue.
Yesterday, I had light spotting, but I assumed it was resultant from some rough sex my partner and I had had. Today when I wiped, there was a significant amount of dark blood and I've got cramps like I'm on my period. It's only been two weeks since my last one! I'm kinda freaked out and plan to call my doctor tomorrow morning to find out what's going on, but I'm assuming it's just an effect of the extra hormones that's got me jacked up. It's a little weird, though, since it resembles blood spotting I get halfway to late in my period week rather than the first day, because it's so dark.
Aside from the spotting, I've had a day where I had a horrible headache, but it was no worse or better than severe allergy migraines I've had in the past (it's fun being a severe allergy sufferer *snort, reassert glasses*.) I broke out along my jawline when I first started, but it was only slightly worse than what I normally get during my period. I haven't been bloated, but I do find that I have the munchies more often, so I'm working to control that to avoid weight gain. I have been a little moody and somewhat paranoid lately, but I think it's a combination of family stresses, finals, and basic worries that come with being in a new relationship.
It was mentioned earlier that the last four pills have iron in them, and it is important that you talk to your doctor or do a little diet research to determine whether or not it's even necessary because taking too much iron can be bad for you. They are there because during and around their periods, women generally are iron deficient, but if you are getting plenty of iron in your diet (especially if you take vitamins) you really don't need this extra dosage. That is, after all, what the Fe in the name is for, by the way. ;)
So, aside from seemingly having started a whole new period two weeks after my last one and having some mild mood swings and a single day of headaches, it hasn't been so bad. I had worse symptoms after taking ortho tri cyclen for three months. No pill is ever going to be completely symptom-free, so we must all keep that in mind.
I'll post when I find out more about this strange spotting deal.

I have been taking 500 x 3 each night of Depakote for 7 years. It caused me to gain 50 lbs. I used to take walks every day at least 6 miles a day after i started taking Depakote, my motivation to walk and do much of anything at all, went away. All i wanted to do was sleep.
I still suffer from depression which was my main problem in the first place and the main reason I went to the Dr. and I still do suffer from depressions.
I used to write poetry, now I can't do that anymore because I don't have a single inspirational thought coming to my mind about anything.
I don't notice the beauty in things like nature anymore as I used to, Basically I just feel like a walking half-zombie. A wall of partial numbness.
Recently, now I have been having short term memory loss and it is very irritating and I find it getting worse with each week.
The thing I hate the most about this med is the fact that it has made me physically dependent on it, because if I miss a day, or if I am some hours late with taking it, I get a horrible headache, and everything starts to get real bright to my eyes and I feel nauseated and I get stomach pains, which worsensw by the hour that goes by without me taking it.
which means I have to always make sure I have an extra dose with me in case I go somewhere and don't get back in time for my next dose. I hate being controlled by a med like this.
I am afraid to stop taking it because I have heard stories that if you just stop taking it suddenly, your body will shut down and you can drop dead. I have actually heard this. and I am afraid to tell my doctor that I don't want to take it anymore.
Reading about the hair loss is scary, so far that hasn't happened to me.
If it does, you can be sure I would end this med faster than anything.

I started taking Aviane maybe a week ago and i've never felt like this in my entire life. At work yesterday I just wanted to snap at everyone, and today i woke up with a horrible headache. I'm dizzy all the time, my vision is is weird, I'm getting pains and numbness in my right leg and arm, I feel very weak, I'm getting very bad pains in my chest and shortness of breath, i'm nauseated and I'm so grumpy and sad all the time. Today i've wanted to just cry for no reason. This was bothering me so i looked up the side effects on the package and i have most of the severe side effects. This scares me so much ! I stopped talking birth control almost a year ago because i was very forgetful, i was on alesse, so this time they gave me this pill because it was cheaper (even though i am fully covered) I was concerned and questionable about it but the assured me that it was the same as alesse just generic. well i'm going to stop talking it as of now and going back to my doctor.

I just started taking this little nightmare yesterday. I'm glad I came here and read this. I had a sinus infection and now I thought I was catching the flu.
I was up most of the night with a horrible headache, nausea, and diarrhea.
Now I realize that it's probably the Avelox. Time to call my doctor.

i had my mirena taken out October 08 as i am 40 this year and wanted to have another child.i had suffered with terrible back aches and tiredness with the coil in so was revealed to finally have it taken out thinking all would go back to normal and that it would only take me a short time to conceive as i always had done in the past. now i find that my cycle will only last about 3 weeks and a couple of days. after i have ovulated i find that i feel very sicky really really tired, i feel dizzy and find it hard to focus sometimes my boobs will stay very tender right up until my period has kicked in and i can feel very low for no reason. i never had any of these symptoms before the mirena and i am still trying to fall pregnant. i no my gp will say its my age but i don't believe that i am still very young for my age and take care of myself. this is all since having the mirena.

I'm 21 years old and I started using the NuvaRing over a year ago. It was great at first not having to worry about my birth control every day. I was able to control my period, and it was always light.
Slowing I started experiences certain side effects that go along with the NuvaRing, but I didn't realize that they could be related to the birth control until my mom showed me this site, and strongly believes that the NuvaRing is the reason for my horrible headache, weight gain around the stomach, irritability, and mood swing, fuzzy vision with contacts, depression, and just wanting to sleep all day.
I plan on using a new type of birth control instead of NuvaRing, These side effects are too much for me.

I have been on Advair since Feb. of this year, I have had a lot of these side effects but didn't really realize it was from this med. At first I was told to take it 2x a day, reading the directions it says it has to be 12 hours exactly apart. My work schedule didn't allow that so I just took it 1x....Working 2 jobs I just thought when I couldn't sleep and was always tired, it was from working a lot. When I told the Dr. about not being able to sleep more than 4 hours, I was told since I was taking the meds 1x a day that wasn't it. After a bad cold and bronchitis I was told I had to take the Advair 2x a day, now i'm more tired than ever, still can't sleep and have a headache that won't go away even with migraine medicine. I'm even jittery and forgetful--kinda ditsy now and itchy off and on all day...After reading this blog site I see its not in my mind and i'm going to stop taking this med. I think i'm going to the health food store and find something natural.

After 8 months, had to switch from Lexapro to Celexa because of the cost. Hoping it will work just as well.
However, terrible and constant headache, even though switching from almost same drug. Some tooth grinding, too.
Had this headache when beginning Lexapro, and it went away after about 3 weeks. Don't know why it would begin again with the Celexa...and the tooth grinding, geez.

I think some of the severe symptoms reported here are just that.. severe, and as advised on the drug information insert they can happen, and should be reported to your doctor. We are led to believe our doctors will stop the meds and try something else. If they are not willing to do that, or try to convince us it's all in our heads then... we should stop the meds ourselves and find another dr. These side effects are real, and scary. I've stopped cholesterol meds for that reason. I don't need a dr. to tell me to stop... I know my body, and how I feel and know when something isn't right.
I've been on Lisinopril for two weeks now. I was initially on the diuretic Hydrochlorothiazide, but had so much arrhythmia that I thought my heart would jump out of my throat. The dr. discontinued that after less than a week, and put me on Lisinopril. I am a bit dizzy sometimes, and do have a mild cough, but I had the cough before the meds so I can't really blame it on that. However, for all those with the problem of coughing and headaches... I read at drugs.com that you should take this medication with a full glass of water, and drink lots of water throughout the day. This tip was not in the drug handout and I thought that odd. Something so easy, and yet left out. Luckily, I drink water at my desk all day at work. This weekend while home I didn't drink water and had a horrible headache the entire time. I never connected it until I read that you should drink lots of water. Back to work today and drinking water and my headache is gone. It's worth a try, it might help. My husband is on Lisinopril/HCTZ combo, has been for at least 3-4 years with no adverse side effects.
We are all different, medication effects all of us in different ways. I hope I never experience the kinds of side effects I'm reading about here. If so, I'll be off the drug in short order. My dr. told me there are loads of other medications we can try. While there are side effects to everything we take, mild is ok but no one should put up with life altering and/or life threatening side effects like what I am reading here.

I was prescribed /TWP DS 800-160 for a urinary infection. I have taken this medication before with no ill effects, but this time my hands itch all the time and I have a red, itchy rash on my back and stomach. I finished the prescription today, ao hope it goes away and so far the UTI I had is better. At least I don't have as much pain, but it required two prescriptions before is worked. I have taken this before with no noticeable effects. Is this serious?

I have been taking Yaz for a month and a half. The only medication I have been on in several years.
At work yesterday, my head started getting foggy. And my perception, was all messed up. After about 15 minutes of this not getting better, I started to lose my speech communication. I couldn't finish sentences or words. Stuff was jumbling together. In my right hand, two fingers went numb, then the whole hand. A client ended up driving me to the ER. I tried to call my receptionist, but I couldn't get the words out, my client took the phone and told her I was going to the ER. By the time I got to the ER, feeling started coming back, and I could communicate, in full sentences, if I paused between. By the time I was checked in and saw the doctor, I was able to tell him all that happened. With no problem, then a huge headache came on.
He wanted to rule out stroke, so did the CT scan and MRI. The nurse had some trouble getting blood from me. She kept mentioning that the blood kept clotting. The doctor sent me home saying my brain was perfectly healthy, and to go see my regular doctor.
A friend told me it was the birth control, because she could not take it, as she has lupus, and could have a stroke. She said it causes clotting. All of this was making sense to me. I looked up the side effects I had and found the "stroke symptoms", listed as rare, on Yaz.
My opinion of what happened, I had a blood clot that ended up passing through, and it could have become a stroke.
Another thing I read, besides the clotting. Was that oral contraceptives increase the potassium in your blood. I had been eating a banana for breakfast, 3 mornings in a row (the third on the day of this episode). The added potassium, could have been related to this episode.
How is anyone to know they can't eat something like "bananas" with birth control? I certainly didn't.
I am afraid to try any form of birth control at this point.

I was prescribed this drug for a UTI. I've been on it for 6 days already (10 day treatment) and thankfully have not experienced the severe side effects that some people on this site have. I noticed that a few of the entries mentioned that people with penicillin allergies shouldn't be put on this. I'm surprised that my doctor put me on it in that case, but I haven't really had any allergic reactions to it.
However, I have had a few minor side effects. A couple days ago, I had a horrible headache. As for anxiety/depression, I was suffering from that anyway due to real life circumstances so it's impossible for me to tell whether or not the pill had any effect on it (I don't think so, because I feel fine now). As for ongoing side effects, I have actually felt extremely gassy lately, and I know it has nothing to do with my diet. The first day on this pill was fine, but after that I started experiencing this problem. I also had some diarrhea when I first started on it.
Well, I'm done with this pill in four more days. The good news is that it COMPLETELY cured my UTI and I definitely feel much better than I did when I was running to the bathroom every five minutes.

I've been taking levoxyl for 8 years now with mostly good success. My endo doctor recently upped my dose due to lab results (I think the test results were bad). Now I feel horrible. Headache, dizzy/lightheaded, blood pressure increased, tightness in throat, and muscle cramping. I've been to many specialists concerning the dizziness - everyone says I'm OK; cardiologist, ENT, and neurologist. The symptoms started a few weeks after the dose increase, and have worsened in the last week or two (about 2.5 months out).

I was diagnosed with severe sinusitis a week ago, and my doctor prescribed omnicef for me since I was allergic to PENICILLIN. After the first day on Omnicef, I felt fine, perhaps a little better. As days continued to pass, however, I began to get some horrible reactions. They started out mild, and now (after taking it for the seventh day) I have major tongue and gland swelling in addition to a horrible headache and weakness. I've felt close to fainting several times throughout the past several days. I went through a random bout of depression a couple days ago, too, and there was no reason why. I feel more irritable, but I've been attempting to control it. I haven't lashed out wrongly at my loved ones yet, but I've come pretty close. I have some pain in my lower abdomen (where the intestines are located) as well, but only when I walk in a quick manner. No diarrhea, yet, but I think that's because I normally have digestion problems (constipation). Some of the joints in my hands are acting funny. They aren't as strong as usual, and they've been going numb/cold more often, causing their movements to be a little slower/stalled.
I'm seventeen, and when my mom contacted the doctor yesterday, the doctor said that "these aren't allergies/side effects" of this medication, and that I need to continue taking them. So I took them again yesterday (the seventh day), and that's when the swelling of the tongue and glands in my throat took place. When my mom called today and notified the doctor of that issue, the doctor said that..oh, how was that worded... That "it's the first time I've had this reaction" (while on this medication), and that it isn't caused by that medication but from something else. I'm sorry, but I'm not taking any other medications, and I haven't eaten anything strange/new that would cause me these difficulties. It's definitely the medication.
I'm done with this medication. After doing research on it this morning, I've learned that at least ten percent of those allergic to penicillin is also allergic to omnicef, and I'm allergic to penicillin. Why my doctor is being so stubborn about these reactions, I don't know. I guess this is just an example of a doctor who isn't well-educated and sticks ONLY to the side-effects/allergic reactions listed on the prescription bottle. If problems persist, my mom will take me to another doctor. For now, I'm going to stick to the Neti pod and nasal spray to try to rid me of my sinusitis. Maybe it'll work out alright and my problems from this medication will go away quickly. I'm sick of being sick all summer.

I had Mirena inserted after the birth of my 2nd daughter - November 07. Things were going ok (at least that was what I thought) until about two months ago. I really did not think about the Mirena much. Maybe that was because my sex drive has been soooo gone that I have only used the benefit of the Mirena about 3 times. The problems I guess really started when my period disappeared. That happened 3 months after I got in inserted. I thought that was going to be great because my periods usually last 7 days from start to fully finished. But with this thing, I did not bleed but I definitely was still having a period. Bach aches, mood swings, headaches, bloating, etc. I started to think something was really wrong when I got a headache that lasted about a week, and I don't normally get headaches that last longer than a few hours. I could not figure out what was wrong with me. I even went to the emergency room to have them tell me that there was nothing wrong and it was probably just stress. I started to think that maybe it is the Mirena. I started doing searches on the adverse side effects of the Mirena and thank God I found you guys. I have most of the symptoms described here and other Mirena side effect pages. I will be having this awful thing removed in about two weeks. I don't know what my husband and I are going to do about birth control. We both do not want anymore kids but I am only 28 and do not want to have my tubes tied.
Headaches
Joint Pains
Low Back Pain
Mood Swings
No Sex Drive
Massive weight Gain (I have not lost any of my baby weight plus i put on a few more pounds)
Breasts Double in Size
Fatigue
Dizziness
Depression (low self-esteem)
My feet have even grown (probably because of the weight gain)

I had Mirena put in July 6, 2007. It was 2 months after the birth of my son. I felt wonderful before it was put in. I was excited about being a mom to child number two and surprised at my energy level. Three weeks after getting mirena on July 28, 2007 I went to church feeling normal when suddenly I started having severe cold chills. I had to leave the service. It was hot that day and I went outside and sat in the hot sun. I couldn't get warm enough, I laid flat on the hot sidewalk to absorb the heat. Next I put on a sweatshirt, then a jacket, next I sat in a hot car until I got sick from the heat. I got nauseous and a horrible headache from the heat. When church let out we drove home. I slept for two days straight. When I finally got out of bed I was dizzy. I stayed dizzy until yesterday--two days after I had my IUD removed, One year after having it put in. I also had many other symptoms including the following: extreme fatigue, slurred speech, loss of coordination, numbness-tingling-burning sensations-in my limbs, blurry vision, brain fog, inability to comprehend simple questions such as "what is your name?", excruciating muscle pain and stiffness, joint pain, depression, short temperedness, acne, bloating, decreased sex drive, sinus congestion, shortness of breath, psoriasis, and probably more. I didn't think the IUD was responsible because I was told it was virtually side effect free and that the hormone in it was "localized" and didn't circulate through the body. Because of that misinformation I can say that this has been the hardest year of my life. I started out bonding wonderful with my newborn son, however it is hard to bond with a newborn when you are so dizzy you feel like you will drop him. Let alone the fact that I couldn't see straight, had no coordination, and was extremely tired among my many other problems. I'm not saying we didn't bond, we did, it was just so challenging. The only way I could was to lay still with him. I am usually a fun and energetic person and my baby didn't get to see much of that during the first year of his life:(. I wish I had been informed about the possible side effects or at least been treated like it could be a possible cause. Instead, I was told there was absolutely no way my Mirena could be causing my side effects. Well, now I know otherwise because every symptom I listed above has either gone away completely since I had the Mirena taken out or at least subsided dramatically. It has only been out for three days. Another thing that causes me concern is that for the first couple months of my sons life he was a very happy baby and very content. A couple of weeks after I got the IUD he became a very fussy baby. At first I thought it was colic because it was around the age that babies get colic. The fussiness lasted until I stopped breastfeeding him. I have a feeling he was having some side effects also. I wish I would have researched the Mirena more. I actually wish I had prayed about it because I have a feeling I was supposed to. I just want to say that if you or someone you know is having any health issues and they have the Mirena, please have it taken out before you do anything else. It may save you a lot of grief. I have been to the doctor so much. I have had my thyroid tested, blood tests, seen a neurologist, diabetes test, been back and forth to my doctor and a chiropractor for the muscle and joint issues I had. All I needed to do was lose the Mirena. I was told I most likely had Lupus, fibromyalgia, or MS. I am so angry at this point. Why can't they just say that it is a possibility that Mirena could cause all the side effects people are having. My children would have had so many more good memories if I had been told that. Good luck ladies! I hope Bayer finds itself in a class action lawsuit and all the doctors learn something from it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

500mg 3 times a day for 10 days, vomited once, have had a horrible headache that started day b4 yesterday, still kinda have it, comes in waves, sux real bad lol
i have Sinusitis, Bronchitis, and a severe respiratory infection.
i see some guy on here mad cuz the doctor didn't tell him he would have bad headaches, like the doctor was going to know in advance he would. this anti-biotic affects different ppl different ways, its really not his responsibility to go over every single side-effect this very common anti-biotic is going to have, thats why the pharmacy gives you a huge pamphlet informing you on the medication, if you would had read it then you would see that headache, diarrhea, and constipation are all common side-effects
i didn't read it however, until i came here and read what i read, which is comforting really cuz at least i know why i have the headache so bad, and why i lost my lunch yesterday, was actually worried maybe i had an infection in my brain and thats why i had it, i know, sounds dumb, but what can i say, im paranoid lol
