I was started on Bactrim 7 days ago. The first two days I felt fine, but the 3rd night I got cold...very cold and could not stop shaking for about two hours. My heart was racing and I was nauseated and couldn't focus. This went on for about 8 hours before going to the ER. Upon arrival I had elevated BP and pulse, but after a couple of hours it went down to normal. I saw a new doctor who said it sounded like I had a hypoglycemic attack!! I never had one of those before!! So, I'm figuring I'm getting sicker and maybe it is not from the Bactrim so I take it again and last night was another horrible night!! Racing heart, confusion, and urinating every 30 minutes. Thinking maybe I'm having another attack I get up and eat some applesauce and my husband gives me some sweet tea. I promptly threw up a few times and then we went to the computer to look for ourselves the side effects of this drug. Guess what? It causes hypoglycemia, racing heart, confusion and does something to your kidneys and makes you urinate too much and could be very dangerous!! That was it for me!! I didn't sleep the rest of the night but slept on and off during the day and felt like myself today for the first time since taking the drug. I don't know if it has done any permanent damage, but I will let everyone I know about this awful awful drug!!

The more posts I read, the more I'm beginning to wonder if Effexor is causing some of my physical problems. I have DEFINITELY had the weight gain (40+lbs), low libido, horrible night sweats, very dry scalp. The vertigo went away as well as the extreme fatigue but I still sleep a lot. I remember when I first started it, however, that I almost got into a car accident because I dozed off while I was driving; when I woke up I was going 80 and was in the other lane (thank God no one else was on the road near me). I do feel somewhat better but this is a drug to use with caution in my opinion. I will be discussing weaning off of it with my dr. sooner than later.

OMG I am so glad I found this site!!! I have been taking YAZ for 4 months. I have been on/off several birth control pills, some with no side effects and some with. These are the worst!!! I felt like I was going crazy until I found this site. At first all I noticed was moodiness, instead of having PMS a couple days before my period I had it all month except for before and during my period. Then about 2 months into it I started feeling fuzzy headed, unable to focus, started having tingles in my arms and legs like when your foot is asleep. If I take the pill at night I have horrible night sweats and if I take it in the morning I am tired all day and have horrible dreams. The worst of it was I was having severe episodes of vertigo, the room starts spinning and I have to grab hold of stuff. It was really scary, I am a single mom and was scared that I might fall at home and my toddler would be unable to go for help. I thought maybe my iron or blood sugar was low so I went to the doctor and had a full work up on my blood - everything came back fine. The doctor wanted to send me for a CAT scan and I didn't want one as I had started wondering if it could be the pill. I am calling my gynecologist today to get it switched. Thank you so much for all your posts! Me, my family, and my job all were thinking I was going crazy or just a hypochondriac.
On a side note - I do have 3 teenage cousins who take this pill and have no side effects. However I have always been very sensitive to medication. This pill may work for some, but not for me.

Well after reading all of this I feel really stupid. I've been on NR for 7 years. I got on it when I went to college and never tried anything else. All these years I thought all these things were just something wrong with me. I had migraines that would last for up to a week in which I had to get a shot from my doctor to get rid of. I had horrible night sweats and horrible anxiety talking to new people. The worst part is the sex drive. I've been married a little over a year now, and can honestly say that i never want to have sex. I feel horrible, but it never interests me. After reading all of this, I decided to take it out. Here's hoping that things change and I can remember who I was back in high school !!

I do not even have words to describe how I feel after reading the study on the ALA website. What is going on? Please, where do we go from here to inform and REFORM? Did anyone read the numerous accounts on this website alone? If so, did it read like a daytime soap opera, or just some people out there with nothing better to do than make up stories about their children?

Since posting months ago about my 4 year old I have done everything I can think of to get changes started, all to no avail. I know my daughter is living proof of Singulair mind altering side effects - she is now completely without the horrible night terrors, she smiles, hugs and is overall a perfectly "normal" 4 year old.

Help......we need to bring the troops together to form one unit to bring about change. Anyone is welcome to contact me to join up to provide any help or information.

I was prescribed 750 MG of Levaquin after a ER visit on Saturday, August 16th for a sinus infection. Both Saturday and Sunday I had diarrhea. I took the second pill on Sunday and I did not sleep the entire night. I was sweating so much. I felt out of sorts and scared in my own home. I started to turn on the lights. I even tried to sleep with my bedroom light on. It was an awful night to say the least, I won't go into all of the details. But I did start to question not only my physical health but mental. I knew I had been stressed out, but this never happened to me before. I was not able to work Monday. I took the third pill Monday not realizing this was all a reaction to the antibiotic. I was speaking to a close friend late Monday afternoon about my horrible night. I did not tell her what I was taking. She informed me that one time she was taking a antibiotic, Levaquin, and that she had a similar reaction and even hallucinated. I was relieved to know that I was not loosing my mind but it was the medication. I called my doctor's. office and they said stop taking it. They said they were aware that this had happened to some patients. Gee, thanks for telling me in advance. They suggested I take Benadryl to help me sleep. Needless to say, what a horrible experience I had. And this night was worse. I was sweating even more, could not sleep, tried to take a shower to cool off and then I started to hallucinate. I tried talking myself out of it, but the medicine was too strong. I called my God Mother and she talked me through it. Again, all the lights had to be on, I felt very anxious and scared. IT WAS AWFUL. If you have a sensitive system I would not take this! It is now August 21st and I still can not sleep. I am still out of sorts. I wish I knew in advance. All I know is I am telling everyone I know, DON'T TAKE LEVAQUIN!!!

I have been on Paxil off and on now for about 5 years.... the current length of treatment for the past 1 1/2 years. I need to be on it ( or something for that matter ) for my panic disorder. I am a 36 year old nurse/ manager and some days was almost debilitated by panic attacks. Depression was part of it, but not nearly as much as panic. I must say, that I have been experiencing memory loss now for about a year.... I thought maybe it was due to overwork/ stress...which I do understand it COULD be. However, I find it interesting that I am seeing so many more people with memory loss than I imagined. Is it due to stress in this type of people's lives, or is it in fact, the drug Paxil?
Keep in mind this is an SSRI ( Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor ) ~~ even though there is no solid evidence (YET!) this is a side effect of the drug, I would bet my license on the fact that that it is!
I have tried time and time again to wean myself off of Paxil.. ( with and without my Dr's advice )--- I did succeed for a few years to be without the medicine, however being on a slew of other meds in the interim did not help as much for the panic as does the Paxil. Paxil, honestly, scares the hell out of me!
Besides the "numb emotions", memory loss, sexual appetite decrease, yawning, lack of sleep, etc... the side effects of coming off of it are worse! As I read earlier, it IS addictive, indeed! The brain gets used to the drug being there ( as with any addiction ), and the "surges" of dizziness, sweats, and out-of-body-like experiences I experience coming off of the drug are excruciatingly harder to bare than the depression itself. Those above symptoms of withdrawal are just that....withdrawal!
Once your body is "allowed" to reuptake serotonin (as it is supposed to), this is when those symptoms raise their head...sometimes for weeks or months until they subside.
I would welcome anyone with help on this matter---is there another Drug out there that can help with anxiety/depression symptoms, and not cause the plethora of side effects we have all discussed here?
Diane

I was on Yasmin for a number of years and had chest pains. I also have 2 red "dots" on my hair line that formed about a year ago. I noticed my hair thinned out too. I never made the connection that it could be related to the Pill. I also had frequent headaches, but would just take some Aleve and be on my way.
Anyways, I went off in February, and it is now June, and I still have no period. I've seen the gyno, tried to take Provera, and nothing is working to help me get my period. I ended up getting some bloodwork done. My estrogen levels are extremely low (like someone that is in menopause). I AM ONLY 25!!!! I am guessing it is related to coming off Yasmin somehow. Please contact me if you have similar things, as I am now getting all the symptoms of menopause (severe hair loss, night sweats, hot flashes, uncontrollable moods).

Makes my stomach hurt like a gas feeling and burning really bad.
Night sweats are horrible. I have to change my PJs about 5 times a night and the bed is soaking wet. It really messes up my sleep. It is helping with my anxiety I think. I'm just not sure if it's worth it with all these bad side effects.
Now I am getting tingling on the tops of my feet and tops of my toes.
It's all so strange. I also have depression and this is helping a little.
I feel unmotivated lately and tired...oh did I mention weight gain because it makes me eat more? What a mess I am.

In reply to concerned-dad and all others with chronic congestion, etc. I have heard several people that have tried the "Eat Right For Your Blood Type" (in bookstores) with incredible results. Even if they have not followed the most strict food do's/don't for their blood type, and made minimal changes they noticed a dramatic difference with congestion and asthma symptoms in children and adults.

I am not endorsing the book - but I will however give it a good hard try if my daughter's symptoms return that she had prior to being put on Singulair. And yes, you are so right to be concerned with the timing of Singulair and any new behavior issues - I still stand my ground when I say it is NOT normal for a toddler growing up in a loving home to have such horrible night terrors, screaming in fear.

My 4 year old took her last dose 3 weeks ago after a 2 year run on Singulair not an hour has gone by without her dad, sister and I still feeling waves of shock. She has completely changed from an unhappy, moody, unemotional girl into a loving, well-mannered, well-disciplined, even tempered 4 year old. Unfortunately, since the side effects have been so secretly held, all parents have been chalking all the behavioral issues to "toddler" years.

As I wrote to the FDA rep, this would be a classics Deceptive Trade issue for any other company in our country. Quite simply, when Singulair first rolled out it was sold with "ABC" treatments and "XYZ" side effects by the pharm reps. In February the FDA website notes they have given Merck 9 months to investigate (THEMSELVES) the many consistent complaints of side effects received for Singulair. And since the FDA did not give them a time limit to communicate the ongoing investigation and recently added side effects, my pediatrician and pharmacist as of May are still unaware. Same old commercials airing with the original "mild" side effects as sore throat, etc., same pharm reps visiting my doctor without informing of recent changes to the originally selling points.

Had my pediatrician been aware, I would have not received the answer I did when asking her what a toddler could have so horrible in their life to scream and cry through nightmares - "Some children react in their dreams if perhaps they saw a spider earlier in the day that scared them". I figured it would have to be a spider the size of my car to get that kind of nightmare, but in her defense had she been aware of the updated information with Singulair she would have zeroed in on the "bad/vivid dreams" Merck has now added to their website.

Hope this helps someone and if anyone has given the "Blood Type" eating regimen a try would love to hear comments.

My daughter has been on Singulair, 4mg chewables for almost a year. We have had problems with her aggressive behavior, mostly hitting - her brother and now other children at school. Her teacher and I met today and both were at a loss for her continuous aggressive, impulsive behavior because by every other account she is a sweet, good natured child. We have tried everything - rewards, taking away things of importance to her all to no avail. She says she cannot help it but she is trying her best and I believe her. She is so sad after one of her impulsive episodes. For the heck of it, I thought I would look up Singulair side effects online and cannot believe all the information on side effects in children. My daughter also has been having very vivid nightmares and coming into my bed in the middle of the night. She also has leg cramps and pains in the middle of the night very frequently. I am taking her off the Singulair and pray that I see some positive change in her behavior.

I have been on the NuvaRing since September. Not only have I lost any appeal to have my boyfriend touch me, I am an absolute bitch the majority of the time. I have horrible night sweats where I wake up soaked. I also have a lot of acne and random bumps all over my body. My cramps start about 1 week after I put the ring in and are sporadic over the menstrual cycle. Every time I put the ring in, I throw up for the first 24 hours.

Since going on Effexor 3 years ago, I have had similar side effects, as well as withdrawal symptoms when trying to go off the drug. My symptoms while on it are: night sweats, being hot all the time (sweaty hands and feet), rashes all over, excema on my scalp and neck, "lightning flash" type feelings in my brain/head, extreme depression, an inability to feel intimacy (although no sex drive problems), extreme weight gain (despite frequent exercise and good diet). During my pre-menstrual period, I am pretty much psychotic, to the point of wanting to hurt myself and others. With the weight gain and depression, I really AM better off not taking the drug. But I find it impossible to take two weeks off work to simply stop taking a drug. It is not possible to stop taking effexor and work or function in ANY CAPACITY. I really feel for the moms out there who have had to do it. One other thing I have been experiencing is severe joint pain. I would like to know if others have experienced this.
