I took Levaquin 750 for 10 days for a sinus infection. I took first 5 doses, went to see my doctor again 6 days later because I was still sick. She prescribed again 5 does of Levanquin 750. I am still coughing and I feel very tired. It did not help at all. I am still sick and I have muscle pains in my two calves and stress Achille tendon. I am a runner and I have sometimes problems with my calf: I have been not running too much recently and I was wondering how come suddenly I had those muscle pains in both my calves. I am not sure if it is related to Levaquin, but when I read all those comments, I am worried. Why I have been prescribed this antibiotics if it is obviously dangerous?

Omg! thank you all so much for stepping up here! I was supposed to have mine inserted on Nov 4th. I just got a call from a friend and her boss was on the this IUD and she lost so much hair she looked like she was going through chemo!! she ended up cutting it really short. I wonder if the doctors are aware of just how bad these side affects ARE.
I don't know about anyone else here but I am so sick of doctors and pharmacies messing with us like we are test rats! For people that don't know, doctors get major kick back from pharmacies for pushing these drugs on us. I am talking not just wined and dined but all inclusive vactions and such! Friends of mine are doctors....so yes I learned this straight from the horses mouths!

I was prescribed this drug for a fungal infection. I will never take it again, I cant think straight, I'm weak, have nausea, jittery, I feel like a bowl of jello on the inside and I'm soooo tired after I take a pill. Its throwing off my balance, cant ride the horses. Hey did you know that this is a drug I give my horses? Its no wonder they hate taking it, I do too. I think I will have the vet give them something else and the doctor can definitely find me something else, this is a horrible drug.

I spent yesterday in the emergency room with my 20 y/o daughter. She was experiencing severe cramping and twitching of her right side, swelling of the joints with shooting pains from her shoulders. The symptoms were those of a person with Parkinson's and severe charlie horses throughout their body. After many tests, I was floored when the doctor told me that he believed that it was YAZ that was causing this. She is also anemic, which she has never been. She has been on this medication for a little over one year. I came to this site to convince myself that the doctor was wrong..... isn't this supposed to be the wonder drug? After reading just a handful of the postings, I have found more symptoms that I have dismissed as 'stress from college'. She was placed on this medication for poly cysts caused by accutane! - Now this!!! What is going on with the FDA that they are allowing so many of these horrible side effects!

I have been on Singulair for about one month and am experiencing extremely painful cramps/charlie horses in my legs. I am taking Singulair for adult onset asthma. Have a horrid cough, been told over the past 20 years, yes, 20 years, it is caused by allergies but no medication stops the coughing. Then they figured it had to be caused by acid reflux. So prilosec is prescribed. Still have the cough. Now this specialist deems it to be adult onset asthma. The Singulair does not stop the coughing - so what is next? Major leg cramps/charlie horses.

Hello Fellow Women Against Mirena (WAM! O.K. I'm going to copywrite it) I am so, so, so relieved that I'm not alone. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wish this ....on anyone, but just like the support groups for any cancer (which I have to take a blood test for), or disease, it helps to know your not alone. I know that sounds corny, but I have always been a person who's feet hit the floor at 5:30a.m. and don't stop until 11:30p.m. and was able to lift 75lbs over my head, handle a charging stallion (not the hubby as noted by you all...not happening), now I am 50lbs overweight, don't eat at all, I used to be a grazer, ate little bits all day long just like my horses. Now if it wasn't for them waiting for"Mom" with their big brown unjudging eyes, cuz animals don't care about you being fat etc, but they do want their Mommie time back. I think that we should keep our removed Mirenas in little viles or zippys and chuck them on the desks of the CEOS who manufactured this demon ...then ask them to try their product out on their wives, girlfriends, daughters. mothers...I bet they wouldn't...I think after surgery to get it removed, I'll be mailing a package to Bayer and the company who makes it in Finland.....Look out Bayer in Wayne, NJ...your going to get your product back and I want a refund!...Thanks WAM, you have lifited my spirits..and if I happen to flat line in surgery, guess who I am going to haunt!!!

I have posted before with all the pains I am experiencing but just began with a new one! I am now getting charlie horses in the arches of both my feet. When will this runaway train ride end? How much can a person take and be told the FDA does not recognize that something criminal is being done to the public!

I started taking Yaz 1.5 months ago. During the first pack I saw little to no side effects, period lasted 4 days and was drastically lighter than before starting Yaz. Before Yaz I would bleed for 5 days and go thru a bag of super pads, with Yaz I barely bleed enough to use 6 pads in 4 days, BIG difference!
Now into the second pack I had a headache for 3 days straight, I am having stomach pain, I eat only because I know I have to or I wouldn't eat at all, I have no sex drive even though I think about sex and things excite me I just don't want to be bothered with the physical act, my breast are tender all the time, my lower back is in pain, charlie-horses in my calves and back of thighs, I am constipated, and very gassie!

Hi everyone,
I am a 25 year old female who was diagnosed with Crohn's disease one year ago. I stumbled on this website and wanted to share my experiences to let others know they are not alone and that their side effects due to Prednisone are completely normal.
In Nov of 2007, I was in the hospital for a Crohn's flare up and was put on prednisone through IV (240mg/day). After a three days I was released, but one week later, had another flare up and was back in the hospital in December of 2007. This time, I stayed for 6 days and was on 240mg/day again through IV, along with taking Flagyl and fluids for my flare up and infection.
At first, I lost about 10 lbs due to the flare up and all of the medication I was on. However, within 3 weeks time, I gained 28 lbs and was a complete mess. I looked different, felt different and was emotionally and mentally drained.
My side effects included: Severe moon face, buffalo hump, increased appetite, hair thinning and severe hair loss, night sweats where I would have to change pajamas 3-4x a night, OCD to the point where I would have to clean my entire apartment (even if it was already clean), restlessness, anxiety, no sleep and sometimes I would go days without sleeping, increased thirst and dehydration, swollen eyes and headaches, depression and mood swings, upper and lower abdomen swelling and weight gain (28 lbs in 3 weeks), suicidal thoughts, unbearable muscle and joint swelling and aching, forgetfulness and memory loss, blurred vision and dark hair growth on my face near my sideburns and underneath my chin and on the bottom portion of my face. Bottom line: it was unbearable and nobody warned me about the harsh side effects of the drug.
When I left the hospital, I was put on 60mg/day and eventually weaned off Prednisone over the course of 2 1/2 months and took my last 5mg dose in mid- February 2008.
It is now 2 months since I have been off Prednisone and as of now, I have only lost 7 lbs, but much of the moon face has gone away and I don't seem as swollen in my chest. My appetite returned to normal the day I stopped taking the drug and my mood swings subsided one week after stopping Prednisone. I still have the buffalo hump, but it stopped hurting and I am now able to sleep through the night. The fluid retention seems to have moved south towards my legs, arms, and lower abdomen. My doctors say that within about 6 months after stopping Prednisone, most of the fluid retention should go away and they recommend walking for 45-60 minutes/day to help with the fluid/weight gain.
Overall, prednisone helped to save my life and put my Crohn's into remission, but is one of the WORST drugs I have ever taken. My heart goes out to anyone who has had to take this drug and trust that you are not alone--and the side effects are real and they are harsh. I am slowly seeing that it takes time for the prednisone to leave your system and my doctors say that every day there is less and less in my body.
Stay positive, stay active & stay Healthy!!

I've been on this drug for almost two weeks. About one week in I noticed my ankles were swelling. They look like an egg has been cut in half and applied to each side. I rarely have any swelling. It's not painful but looks bizarre. I've also been having tingling/numbness on the bottom of my feet - mostly the ball of my foot and up into my toes. In addition I'm having tingling in my forearms and hands, also my thighs, and a bit in my buttocks. It's bizarre. At first I just thought I'd pulled a muscle somewhere but as it has progressed I've decided it must be associated with the doxycycline. I have two more pills left and I'm hoping everything subsides once I'm done with it. The only painful thing was a neck crick, which I'm not sure was associated with the drug, but could have been. Also, I've had charlie horses in my legs probably a half dozen times since I've been on it. I haven't had one in probably 10 years prior to this. I've never noticed this kind of side effect with a drug. It has certainly cleared up the infection that wouldn't go away and as long as all these side effects go away it was worth it - no question - but these are odd side effects.

Please don't take Yaz if you have any alternative at all!
My 30-year-old, fit, non-smoking daughter is currently in the ICU after just the third pack of this KILLER drug, with a pulmonary embolism (major cause of sudden death in young women) and a clot in her leg. Thank God we got her to the ER in time--don't let it happen to you and your family. If you're taking it and get pains in your legs for no good reason, run, don't walk, to the nearest ER.

Hi
I started taking 10 mg. daily ofLipitor 8 yrs. ago and about a year later I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. There's no test for Fibro, just blood tests to elimate everything else ex: Lupus, RA etc. I've been suffering so much from muscle pain, all the tender points as in Fibro and also diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. Three doctors diagnosed me with Fibro. and chronic fatigue. I had most of the symptoms everyone else is complaining about also. The pain in my stomach muscles are just about gone too.
It reached a point three weeks ago when I was having sharp pains all over my body and muscle cramps and charlie horses at night and I could just about walk up the stairs my hips hurt so much that decided to stop Lipitor. I was so tired all the time and in constant pain.
My doctors said it couldn't be the Lipitor. The pain in most of the tender points are just about gone but I know it will take a while to get out of my system. I lost muscle strength over the years and hope to get that back. I'm 64 years old and know it will take awhile .
I went to my doctor Tuesday and told him I took myself off the Lipitor and that I now remember being diagnosed with Fibro shortly after going on Lipitor. He got so mad at me and said that Lipitor doesn't cause a disease. As I said there's no test for Fibro and it's not a disease it's a syndrome or condition where the brain sends pain signals to the tender point muscles but there's nothing actually wrong with the muscles. I told him that 6 years ago when I tried going off Lipitor for 3 months and joined a gym, Curves, I felt fine and thought I was in remission. Then when I started taking Lipitor again I couldn't do the exercise in Curves and had to stop going. It never dawned on me it was the Lipitor.
I now have a problem with my heart, one condition I might have been born with but the Arrthymia I don't know about. My heart beats too many beats and it beats 4 beats and the 5th beat is backwards. Now I'm on 25mg of Topricin (the generic) beta blocker to slow down the heart beats. I don't know if this is caused by the Lipitor or not. My cardiologist said that Lipitor can affect every muscle in your body and she suggested that I get a RX for a blood test to tell whether I have muscle damage. I went for the test Tuesday but haven't received the results yet.
I'm going to change doctors, I don't like my doctor's attitude with me over the Lipitor. These doctors think they're God. When I told him on Tuesday about the 3 months that I felt fine 6 years ago he said that there are other drugs besides statins to lower cholesterol. I don't want to go on any drugs and the non statin drugs can cause intestinal blockage, he got upset when I told him that too. I'm going to try to lower it with flaxseed and fiber and see if that works. I go to Weight Watchers and kept 17 lbs. off for 6 years now, I do try and eat healthy.
I can't believe it cost me almost 8 years of my life in pain. It's even hard for me to get down on the floor with my granchildren, I have to crawl to the couch or chair to lift myself up and I get tired so easily. I just hope I get back to normal.
I'm so glad I found this website and figured out what was wrong with me. I hope my writing helps someone else dignosed with Fibromyalgia and taking a statin.
Thanks for listening.

After 5 years of a totally sporadic period, I decided to go back on the pill. My OBGYN prescribed Yasmin. I started taking it in March of 06 and stopped taking it October of 06. In that time, I was miserable. I started having migraines on a weekly basis, my joints hurt, but worst of all was the leg cramps. I had such bad Charlie horses, I was ready to cry pretty much all the time. I would wake up numerous times a night with them. My muscles were so sore that some days I could barely walk. I was constantly limping. One night I discovered a large lump on the inside of my calf by my knee. I thought it was a blood clot and had to go for an MRI. The doctors couldn't tell me what the lump was. As soon as I found the lump I stopped taking Yasmin and within a week my headaches and the Charlie horses went away. I still have the lump, but it is slowly going away.

I am 27 years old, male, and have had type 1 diabetes since I was 8.
My doctor prescribed Zocor repeatedly in 2007(for high blood pressure) and I was reluctant to taking it because I have no respect for any of the miracle drug companies and feel that they are only looking to make money, not help anyone with their health problems. I finally started taking Zocor (generic) in Nov 2007, then started getting some strange side effects that my doctor never mentioned when I asked him.
My side effects were, but not limited to, muscle pain in the legs and back. I noticed sharp pains in my knee like arthritis and Charlie horses in the calf during time at sleep. I noticed these after about 1 week of taking the drug and lasted through till the end. I stopped taking the drug in Dec 2007 and been off it since. I have yet to talk to my doctor about it, but I talked to his nurse and she recognized the symptoms. I reached my conclusion long before speaking to her however.
Now 2 months have passed since I stopped taking the drug and the pains in my back and legs have disappeared. The arthritis type feeling in the knee has gone away. I have more flexibility and none of the pain that I felt while taking the drug. I am astounded that the clinical trial for this drug doesn't note the muscle pain; at least the notes from trials I found on the internet didn't note it as a side effect.

I noticed I didn't put my side effects. They are "Charlie horses" or leg cramps, I don't eat like I use to, back pain, tingling shoulders, neck pain, bloating out of this world, chest pains, and heart palpations. The bad thing is I called my local health unit and they told me to continue taking the pill. What should I do?

Haven't been taking this medication very long started March 1st or so with 50mg once a day. But felt didn't need it so took it kind of sporadically the first week, every other day, then I tried just half the second week 25mg. Then I had to go back to full 50mg this past week, so basically 50 to 25mg for three weeks or so now, and I feel AWFUL. Now that I have dropped back to the 25mg the side effects have lessened but the anxiety is unbearable! My arms and hands go cold and numb. When taking it at 50mg felt very sluggish, cloudy mind, doomed feeling. It just doesn't feel right. I am only 33 years old they did a stress test on me this past Friday and 2-D echocardiogram. Tomorrow they are going to do some blood tests and a get a holter monitor put on me for 48 hours. To see if I "need" to be on this med. I dont' think I do, if it truly was something I needed or helped my body, it would help it not bother more. I truly think I may have some other underlying reason for the high heart rate, my BP has always been normal except when I was hospitalized and then once they had me hydrated and my sugars back to normal (I'm hypoglycemic) my BP went normal I just had the tachycardia off and on. So that's why the doctor in the hospital said to begin the Toprol Xl b/c it's SO SAFE I GIVE IT TO PREGNANT WOMEN!! His words. I pray for those women. After just the one week straight of 50mg when I dropped to 25mg a couple days ago it felt AWFUL to do that as well, today is much better Thank God. But can you have such strong withdrawals after such short period of time? And if so, that is scary in and of itself.

I have been on the ring for almost three months, and def notice some side effects. Besides feeling way more sensitive and moody (aka psycho) I get severe muscle cramping in my feet and calves, once even in my chest. They feel like charlie horses. I am assuming this is related to the ring, considering it has never happened before. As well, I get a yeast infection and irritation the 3rd week. Also slight weight gain (@ 5 pounds) but I can work with that. I really have moments where I feel crazy and depressed- but I do not want to get pregnant, so...
Does anyone else have these cramping issues? Do you know of any supplements to relieve it?

A pharmacist heard my breathing and told me I was over medicated. My doctors prescribed 20/12.5 Benicar, olmesmartan, twice a day for systemic hbp and Toprol once a day for pulmonary hypertension. I gradually stopped taking the Benicar because I could barely function, felt like I had been beaten down all day, had the sharp pains from one point to another and couldn't remember anything short term. I'm also allergic to sulfa which is an ingredient in olmesmartan. I'm only taking Toprol. I feel 200% better. The "charlie horses" aren't nearly as bad and the sharp pains and muscle tenderness are gone. My short term memory is better as well. I drink lots of water and take a potassium supplement. As a result, I retain much less fluid.

I posted side effects on Jan.9, 2006 - Guest #15065. I have not taken Advair since that date, so am on my 12th day without. I am sleeping! I have had only a couple of mild arch cramps compared to the charlie horses that brought me to tears. My breathing is okay, even though I live in the mountains and have been in some cold winds. I have not gone on a mountain hike yet, and that will be the test. I will repost after that. Advair is DEFINETELY a drug I can do without.

I took Levaquin for a sinus infection March 26th... 5 doses of 750 mg. I felt slightly better initially but that lasted only a day. I think it was prescribed wrongly, I had a virus and was getting over it... not a bacterial infection. The problems started about a week after the 5 day course ended. I ended up in the ER feeling like I was going to die, some strangeness in my breathing and feeling as if I was having a stroke... like I was going to pass out. They found nothing wrong except an elevated blood pressure and did a d-dimer to see if it could be an embolism (at my insistence, I had no idea this could be from levaquin and thought I was having a stroke. After the ER visit, I just felt like I had the flu, but I didn't... weak, extremely tired with some muscle aches ... two weeks out I had a lot of pain in both legs, like charlie horses that didn't go away... that lasted several days to a week... the weird depersonalization and the anxiety has been intense throughout. Constipation (never ever had it before this drug) started about a month out from taking it. I still feel pain in my legs from time to time and a feeling like there is a tight band across the top of my left foot... like when you tie your shoe too tight and need to loosen the shoe strings, but I am not wearing shoes.
