I have been on Yasmin for three years. I was put on it after I had an out of control year long period after being given a medication during knee surgery. Since being on Yasmin I have had several UTI infections including one that led to Clostridium Difficile and hospitalization after being on so many anti-biotics. I have had severe weight gain despite all imaginable efforts to lose it and I am always tired. I had no idea other people had the same side effects as me until I started to research other birth control pills to switch to.

1 minor heart attack 5 stents placed over past 6 years thru 4 angio episodes. each hospitalization plavix and statins prescribed each time the side effects started within 2-3 weeks, some times sooner . same crap as most...serious leg fatigue, joint pain, skin is tender to touch. But my FAVORITES are the chest/heart pain that mimic heart attack 'feelings' and the 3AM sweat and anxiety/panic attacks.......3 different statins all the same results symptoms
so intense that i have been admitted 3 times for heart cath, ALL false alarms
S-O-O-O DOC what the hell is going on????? ANSWER: must be reflux, must be stress, must be ANYTHING BUT THE STATINS!!!! each time i quit the statins soon after rehospitalization and each time the symptoms went away......last episode was Friday July 31st. i was really bad....constant chest pain and pressure, legs so fatigued that 1 flight of stairs felt like 10 ...shortness of breath...body aches like you feel when first getting the flu etc. etc you guys all know the crap
they rushed me in to the Cath Lab....nothing wrong...must be stress!! must be reflux!!! bullshit. I quit the Lipitor that day
Today is Tuesday.....I am WAY BETTER each time the same thing, on the statins ...feel like crap, get off the statins and feel almost normal within a week
I will NEVER take a statin again
I am lucky that I have been recovering quickly

54 year old Male, Retired Marine, Very physically active, with Type II Diabetes; 5mg. Thanks for this Website. Started Lisinopril 3/25/09. Took it for 25 days, found this website and stopped taking it immediately. I had severe JOINT PAIN. It started in my hands, then feet, knees were next, then moved into my shoulders. The pain was the worst I've ever felt. Approximately 60 days after stopping the drug I went to see the Dr. after the Pharmacist told me Lisinopril should have been out of my system after 2 weeks. The Dr gave me Steroids (Prednisol) which completely eliminated ALL pain in 2 days . I was tested for Polymyalgia Rheumatica, however the my Sed Rate was normal. The blood tests did reveal that my RHEUMATIOD FACTOR is elevated (34.3 where the normal range is 0.0-20.1 IU/ML). Was told that if the pain returned, then I would be referred to a Rheumatologist. 3 Days after finishing the dosage pack of Prednisol, the pain/swelling in my hands and shoulder has returned. Going back to see the Dr today to discuss next steps.

Although the doctors don't agree, I believe Lisinopril caused this pain, and although out of my system now, triggered something that isn't going away.

The rest of this describes the roving pains I experienced.

Hand pain included swollen fingers, inability to make a fist or type on a keyboard. After light yard work on Sat., shooting burning pain up the inside of both arms. Trying to close your hands into a fist, you can feel the tendons up your arm burn with pain. Motrin did not alleviate the pain. Hot water did not help.

Pain in my knees each morning. The pain worsened over night and frequently causes you to wake up. The pain was like your knees were being squeezed in a vice. No position is comfortable. Motrin sometimes helped, but after awoken, getting back to sleep was impossible.

Feet swollen. Couldn't wear any shoes for extended periods. Loosening the laces helps, but still caused pressure which becomes unbearable and the shoes have to come off.

Shoulders; This is the strangest one. First pain was in the left shoulder, like I had impacted a brick wall at a full run (actually no trauma occurred). The pain felt like someone had stabbed it in my shoulder in the socket. At it's worst, no position is comfortable. Had to put my arm in a sling. 5 Days later, the same type pain moved to the right shoulder.

My daughter was on Yasmin for a year, and almost immediately began experiencing a variety of symptoms including depression, mood swings, headaches, nausea, tingling and numbness in her legs, etc. Doctors checked her thyroid, gave her a cat scan, prescribed anti-depressants, anti-anxiety, anti-psychotic drugs ( she started hearing voices) and warned that she couldn't stop these drugs abruptly without causing their own serious side effects. After her second hospitalization for suicidal threats, the psychiatrist, at our insistence took her off Yasmin, the only prescription drug that she was taking when the problems began. She began to feel normal within a few months, and was able to wean herself off Prozac a short time later. We are convinced that this is a very dangerous drug.
In doing research, I found that there is a consumer watchdog group, called Public Citizen ( ******), which monitors FDA reports and has successfully lobbied to have a number of drugs removed from the market. They have Yasmin listed on their "do not use" list ( ******) because of the risk of increased potassium levels and blood clots. The British Medical Journal (******) also has articles suggesting a link between Yasmin and thromboembolisms.
I believe the first step for any of us who have had adverse experiences with this drug is to go to FDA.gov and "Report a Problem". My understanding is that the level of severity of the problem leads to a required response on the part of the agency.
I think the biggest problem is that this drug is very widely prescribed but that few doctors seem informed enough to make a connection when the serious side effects ( fully described on the label) begin to emerge.

2 1/2 years ago I had my Mirena IUD place. I had the normal weight gain and steady bleeding which were side effects I was warned about. Sure enough after 2 months or so my weight returned to normal and the daily bleeding stopped. In fact I haven't had any periods since, which I was really please about b/c that was the reason for having the IUD in the first place. I have 4 children and my husband is fixed, but my periods were so heavy I had a hard time dealing with my iron levels, so the Mirena was recommended. I have raved about not having my period anymore and the freedom it has provided.

However, recently I have been suffering major anxiety, to the point I am currently off work for 4 weeks. I am a stock broker so everyone is convinced its market related. But all along I have said I don't have more or less anxiety if the market is up or down. I just feel as though I have almost in a car accident and my body is in a constant state of "fight or flight". I have been placed on heavy med's to try and correct my current imbalance. These med's are very powerful, for the past 6 days I have been asleep of 17 hours out of 24. Anything this strong is obviously pretty powerful. I have been discussing my current condition with friends and saying my instincts tell me something else is going on. I've been suspecting that something else in my environment could be contributing to my imbalance. So i have been looking into my IUD. My first signs of anxiety were 9 months after having it in, but I treated my anxiety with exercise and healthy living and got on with it. Today I found a website with many women with my exact symptoms:*****
As a mother I have learned to listen to my instincts, and at this very moment I am convinced that my Mirena IUD has over time created an imbalance which is responsible for my current poor health, and tomorrow i'm getting it taken out!

I just spent the last 4 days in the hospital due to "status migrainosus" (a severe migraine that can only be treated by hospitalization/IV. I never had a migraine until 2 years ago when I was put on Yasmin to treat endometriosis. Since then I have been anxious, extremely emotional, experienced insomnia and had bad migraines. After reading all the comments on this site, I am convinced this is not a safe drug (at least for me) and have stopped taking it.

Hi to all,
I wanted to take a minute to say Thanks to all who post and search for answers to this drugs confusing and serious side effects. To all who have taken the time to contact the FDA and file a report to help others.Dr.Sarah Sellers is no longer the person to contact at the FDA,she has moved on after concluding her end of the investigation on Singulair. If you have a serious side effect please still take the time to file on the official FDA site for adverse event reporting. In NY. state we are still searching for legislation to help with the notification process for these serious side effects. There are to many Doctors that still do not have a clear idea of the updated side effects, and are not reporting as they should.
Letting your doctor know that good medicine is all about follow up on complaints, such as researching the singulair website to rule out that it may be the drug or it may not.Just dismissing the patient and prescribing another drug is how these drugs go undetected for so long.We want this to stop and only the unfortunate recipients of the horrors of this drug can make this happen.Again thank you for your efforts to change the system with follow through and perserverance. Our horror story is one of many and we want to help those who have survived the ravages of this drug, OUR CHILD DID NOT. Kate and Dave M.

not too sure if this is a side effect of taking this medicine, but thought I would ask if anyone else has experienced this after taking it. My now 4 year old son had a case of Giardia (aka Beaver Fever) when he was 3 years old, he was hospitalized for 5 days or so. He was put on Metronidazole for 7 days, he got better and haven't had the Giardia since...but we started to see intolerance to certain foods, and now behavioral problems...basically symptoms of Autism/Sensory Integration disorder. I can pin point these issues to occurring after the hospitalization and the taking of this medicine....perhaps it isn't the medicine but the Giardia that caused it...

Thank you to this doctor for posting a response to Singulair problems. He has experienced problems with headache (actually 18% according to the Europeans). He has a patient who has been cutting and had a serious hospitalization possibly due to Singulair.

My daughter has been off Singulair since March 29th. In my previous posting I explained that she had taken it for 2 years and last December started to experience stomach pain, and she became very anxious, agitated, and obsessive compulsive. We had every test possible and her anxiety only grew worse as the weeks went on. In February she was admitted for panic attacks and was given Paxil and Risperdal. When we stopped Singulair we noticed definite changes with her mood swings, personality, and affection. We saw a side of her that over time we forgot existed. She is so much better, but still on the medicines from her hospitalization. We have an appointment to discuss reducing these meds. But has SINGULAIR been out of her system long enough? She endured so much emotional stress that I know just stopping the Singulair will not be the cure all. Any input from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I am repeating one of my post regarding the Swedish study of the side effects of Singulair. When I read that parents have complained to their doctors about side effects and been dismissed, and told to continue the medication, I truly questions whether these doctors are giving their patients the right to INFORMED CONSENT.

I have been told by doctors before something like this "That is my professional opinion - I stand by it ." And I have said right back-- I understand that is your opinion. But if you don't have the time to tell me what I need to know then I am not giving you my informed consent. I get an entirely different attitude after that point. Because, that is how doctors get sued. Parents/patients didn't understand.

1. Have parents been told the complete reasons why it would be absolutely necessary, just necessary, or desirable to take Singulair and why?
2. Have parents been told what the alternative treatments are and the possible side effects of those treatments?
3. Have parents been given an option of another treatment when they complaint about the side effects of Singulair?
4. Do parents know that headache is a side effect that occurs in 18% of patients? These headache have indicated some serious events in European hospital reports. They are not just sinus headaches.
5. Do parents know that Singulair can cause serious events that require hospitalization as referenced in European hospital reports? These reports have described the event and provided laboratory test results that prove that Singulair was the cause.
6. Singulair in NOT an anti-histamine. Can your doctor fully explain to you how Singulair interacts with the receptors on the mast cell (cell part of the immune system)? Can your doctor fully explain how the mast cell will be changed by this? The mast cell has a number of receptors that interact with each other to tell the mast cell how to function normally; when it's time to die; when it's time to be replaced; and when to tell the bone marrow to send a replacement mast cell. Singular CHANGES the immune system---- good or bad???

So here is the report from Sweden to take to your doctors. Would your doctor give consent for his/her children after reading this? Maybe he/she would BUT at the very least that doctor would be looking for side effects that could mean trouble.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: I have spent hours searching scientific data bases for articles on Singulair. So far this is the most direct reference to adverse drug reactions and Singular.

For anyone who wanted to print the article from the Swedish researchers that stated that their study suggested that montelukast (singulair) should be investigated for adverse psychiatric drug reactions, I was able to find a link with open access to the public. So far, this is the only article that I have found. I am still searching through databases. This link should work if you cut and past. I am sure that all doctors would appreciate the opportunity to read it for themselves to see what they think.

Update...Today is the 11th day my 7 yr. old son has been Singulair free! He was taking it for "cold induced" asthma. He never had the typical asthma where he needed an inhaler. He got RSV when he was almost 3, then whenever he got a URI it seemed to go straight to his lungs, so the dr. prescribed Singulair and Xopenex (to be used with a nebulizer). I had asked the dr. a few times to take him off Singulair because he seemed to be doing much better and I wanted to see how he would do without it. The dr. would say "oh, let's wait until summer or let's wait until allergy season is over" and kept putting it off. I just had some sort of bad "feeling" about it. Of course, I look back now and know with certainty that his wierd behaviors started around the time he started Singulair. I am relieved now because his erratic behaviors are almost totally gone!!!! When I heard the news I decided to take him off the Singulair immediately. I was nervous because he had a cold and a bad cough, but did it anyway. You know what? He is fine! His cough is almost gone now without the help of Singulair! He is much happier and can actually focus on doing his homework without getting up from his chair until he is done. Before he would get up about 10 times and just couldn't sit still. He has a better attitude about everything now! He is doing great! I hope everyone who was taking this and stopped is doing better! I learned a valuable lesson from all this. I won't put him or my other son on anything until I research it! I will not trust anything anymore, and that in itself is sad, but true. Good luck to all!

I am a 32yo male and a Paramedic and it has been a living hell for the last two years. Here are my side effects and then my story. Anxiety, anxious, Irritable, high heart rate, leg calf pain, horrible sleep, bad nightmares, depression, suicidal thoughts, thoughts of hurting people, hate being around people, fear of heights (I used to rock climb daily), dizzy- if I move my head too fast or spin around with my son, weight gain(could be unrelated) arm cramping, frequent urination, and mood swings from crying to anger in just a few minutes. Not like me at all! First few years looking back, I was just became irritable and short with people. The last year has been horrible depression and anxiety along with the other side effects. I like many of you who have written here have had many of the exact same side effects. I had a stressful job at times and worked 24 hour shifts. I have always loved people, and enjoyed meeting new people. Not any more!! Two years ago my mother who lives 3.5 hours away asked me why I was in such so anxious all the time. She said, you are not the laid back and carefree man I know. I thought it was just due to some stress about being recently married or the job. The changes took time and I did not realize them or see them. Looking back, others knew something had changed.
Knowing about medications for my job and how to research them, I looked into every possible side effect and how Singulair worked before I started taking it. Looked good in 2004 with no major side effects. A little over a year ago my father became sick. He was going to battle cancer, but before he could, he would find out he needed a heart valve replaced. He got the surgery, went into cardiac arrest at home a week later, and was given CPR by my mother. A local police officer shocked him and got the heart out of V-fib. I slept with him in the ICU almost every night. He died a week after that and my wife was 7 months pregnant. Talk about stress. The baby came and I stopped working to raise our new little boy. I became short with my wife and started to pull away from being around people. I started to have bad dreams with twisted and morbid outcomes. I had suicidal thoughts out of nowhere and would wonder, where did that come from. Just as soon as they would come, they would be gone or I would think about something else. I got dizzy all the time and started to get carsick if I wasn't driving. I used to be able to read while riding backwards or sideways in the ambulance without a problem of feeling sick. That was not like me at all. I would snap at anything and became almost OC about everything. Thinking all this time the last year that I was just depressed about loosing my father whom I was very close too. Our little boy ended up having some medical problems and the insurance company would not pay the bills. More stress! My wife an EMT-Intermediate blew out 2 disks in her back on an ambulance run, more stress again. More insurance problems. I became a basket case! More anxiety, more depression, never got a full night sleep, mind racing, calf pain soo bad I would ask my wife to rub them, arm pains and finger joint pains at night. I also had a high heart rate of 100 almost all the time. Heart palpitations and a few times it felt like my heart was empty off all the blood and would beat very hard in the middle of the night lasting only a few seconds to a minute. Weight gain, moody all the time. I thought just due to all the normal stress in life.
Two days ago I went for a hard hike and came back with a pounding headache. Excedrin always does the trick for me. Not this time! I had seen a second of a news where the anchorman was talking about Singulair. Googled "Singulair problem" and found this site. I freaked out!! Almost all of you are talking about all the problems I have had as well!! This medication is making us go completely mad!! Tried to go to bed two nights ago and my mind was just racing. It has been Singulair the whole time. The only medication I take. It has made me nuts. My head was pounding the worst I have ever felt and my heart was coming out of my chest. I was awake since 3:30am and read the story of Cody Miller. This poor boy had no chance with this drug. He brain was not fully developed like an adult at just 15 years old. He wouldn't be able to fight the suicidal thoughts like I can. I have been to a lot of hangings, suicide shootings, and drug overdoses. I have seen plenty of death.
I called his mother a few hours later and explained to her that by them going to the media and getting the story out, prompted me to look into Singulair side effects. And that they just saved my marriage and my life. I explained to her that she did nothing wrong by giving Cody the medication for his allergies. It works great for the asthma and allergy symptoms for me. But, it ruined the last year of my life! I felt like I was going to have a stroke shortly after talking to her. I had my wife check my blood pressure and it was 154/100 (normally 120/82). Got grandpa to watch the boy and went to the ER. After my lab results came back and talking with the doctor, we decided it was a panic attack and who knows what the side effects of coming off this drug will be? I had stopped taking it the night before. Thanks to all of you who posted here and thanks to Kate and David Miller for speaking up. You saved my life. This medication got worse over time for me. It got worse as the stress level went up. I have been off it for two nights and already feel much more calm and was sleeping fine, until the little boy woke up and wanted a hug, or bottle. I hated almost everyone, I was short tempered, anxious, OC, and wanted to hurt people for no reason. I want my life back. I want the old me, the care free happy go lucky guy! I already feel better and will write hear as the days and weeks go by. I will never take Singulair ever again!! Not one stupid pill!! Look to those close to you and see if they notice changes. Even those of you who have been on it for three years like me. The drug company knew what was up the whole time. Bad men and women who want money over telling the truth. Maybe not everyone taking Singulair will ever have the side effects soo many of use have been living with, but to those of you that notice changes! Throw this medication away now and never touch it again. Get your life back!!! Be the old you again. I will go back to Albuterol (the only medication I used to take). Read the stories about the two year olds and the five year olds that cry all the time and are angry all the time. Little kids tell it like it is. It's not until they get to work for large drug companies as adults due they lie about side effects and wait years to publish paperwork saying that post marketing research shows all these negative side effects. They knew all along.

Headaches??? Really i have been getting headaches recently
I hate the new HFA inhalers
I have been a chronic user of the old inhalers for years and i never complained, I actually really liked them. I have been on a ventilator 3x and I am only 24 years old. The most recent hospitalization was the worst. I have been found to have an under productive heart. They did exploratory lung surgery and also gave me a chest tube and took numerous lung samples. I honestly believe that this was due to the new inhalers. Whenever I take the new inhalers I feel slightly better (not much) approx. 1/3 of the the way the old ones made me feel. I feel slightly better after about 15 minutes, but as soon as I take it I actually have a harder time breathing and it just SUCKS!!!

I am 16 and soon will be turning 17 years old. I have been on 10 mg. Singulair for about six weeks. I am already having side effects. I am on Prozac already, this med was to help calm me down, especially about my dad who will be having his fourth brain surgery. At first, I was really nervous and we thought it was because of my dad. After taking Singulair, things went downhill. It made me feel worse and I've had two sinus infections in these 6 weeks. After 2 weeks of starting this medication, I became really nervous and began to pull out my eyebrows. I haven't stopped and now I hardly have an eyebrow,I wear eyebrow pencil to cover it up, but it feels as if I can't control it, if I don't do it, I'll get really grouchy and irritated. I already have to go to a doctor for my stomach and Singulair has just made it worse. I don't care what my doctor says I WILL NEVER take Singulair again!

I am not sure if this is from Avelox--but I found this site because my mom called me today telling me she has blood in her urine. It's really blood, a lot of it, and not "dark urine", and yes I am very worried. She stopped taking Avelox because of some other side effects 2 days ago. She was prescribed the drug because of a gastrointestinal flu that was going around. (As you may know flu's are caused by a irus, not something that can be stopped by an antibiotic) Now she also has weakness and abdominal pain on the side.

She had ovarian cancer 7 years ago, had an accident one year ago and was hospitalized and had surgery, so we are extremely concerned--especially so because apparently doctors don't ever seem to take her precondition serious when prescribing treatment for any other minor illnesses and injuries, instead in one instance the eyes lit up and they xrayed her 5 times instead of one, when she had NOTHING against my will and her feeble doubts at one time. I am sure her sensitive condition--all those toxic substances sitting in her organs-- was NOT taken into account this time either, and she only has one kidney. As you may know, all antibiotics are hard on kidney and liver, so i was really shocked to hear about the known side effects of this one prescribed to someone who had so much hospitalization and toxic substances in her body already. At this point they have brought blood samples to a physician. Nobody seems to feel like hurrying anything, while she has blood red urine every time she goes to the bathroom!

i wonder if the precondition affects the range of possible side effects as well? The last straw that broke an organ? Probably. If you have any input on this, I would appreciate it, it will only be hard for me to check it because I will go stay with her and they have no internet.

Needless to say, Warfarin almost killed me. I was put on it after an apendectomy gone wrong which then turned into a bowel resection. In between the two surgeries I ended up with pulmonary emboli. I was put on Warfarin and also had a vena cava fiter put in. I'm a 40 year old female and have never felt so sick in my life. I was exhausted, constantly throwing up and had chronic diarrhea. Also my INR elevated to an 8 after constant vomiting causing the need for a plasma transfusion. Ugh! I kept telling my Drs. that I thought it was the coumadin but no one seemed to listen. As a result of my last hospitalization (7 admissions since 12/5/2008) they finally took me off of the coumadin (Warfarin) and now I am a totally new woman. The stuff took a week to get out of my system but thankfully I feel great. I hope this is helpful to anyone suffering.

Ladies!
When my mum pointed out this website, and blogs bout Yasmin,
and after reading just a few,
i bursted out crying.

after just 3 months on Yasmin
i was completely, utterly depressed.
being a 15 year old then, it was the worst thing
in the world.
i am a highly trained athlete,
and this pill made me gain over 7 kgs.

training 8 times a week, and 3 dryland,
and STILL packing on the kgs was
unimaginable.
i became completely self conscious,
and stopped eating for days on end.
training suffered, but my muscles and body
suffered more.
all my muscles got completely fatigued and
i lost most of my fast-twitch muscle fibers.

apart from this i obtained a COMPLETE
Fluid retention in every part of my body.
thighs and face the worst.
i couldnt move my joints very freely,
and nothing would let this go.

the absolute worst part was the depression
and anxiety that came from this all.
i remember having 2 weeks off school,
and all i did, was stay home, in bed and cry.
i broke up with my boyfriend, and didn't want
a n y o n e to care about me, i even made a list,
of everyones names and crossed them
off as they hated me.
i cut myself, and hurt myself, especially on my legs
where my mind just hated seeing them,
and feeling this way.
could NOT stand being in my swim-wear during training,
i would run out, and cry if i saw someone look at me.
paranoia.

to feel this out of control with your own body,
is the worst feeling in the world.

i would cry.
everyday. every night.
and i couldnt stop.
i would be moody, and angry, and hopeless,
and start verbal fights everywhere i went.

and i didn't even know why.

after reading this all,
suddenly, everything made sense.
my doctor, told me, in specific words

"they call this the 'luxury pill' its the most expensive,
and has least side effects than any of the others."

i showed her this website.

after i went off it, i had the three day blues,
mum said, just like after pregnancy.
i cried, and cried and cried.
would be sitting in class, and bursted out in tears.
things were horrible.

its now about 6 months later, of not being on anything,
my periods just began back after not having them

I have been taking Zetia(10 mgm) for over 6 months with short breaks when I was sick or took antibiotics. My gut has not been right since. I have had severe gastritis( NOT caused by bacteria) and recent bouts of lower abdominal pain requiring ER visits and a hospitalization for suspected diverticulitis. All extensive tests negative for that or any other reason.. Surgeon called it IBS but I never had anything this bad ( I am 65). My prescribing doc said to stop the Zetia--and I am NOT going to take it again.
I got similar complaints from a couple of others.

I was given 20 mg of Prednisone for 10 days for a rash and joint pain.
The pain went away and I felt great the rash got a little better. Two days ago I took my last pill. I woke up that night and my knees gave out. By morning I was great! Next night I woke with knee problem again had to slide down the stairs to the living room. I got to wondering if the knee thing could be associated with the Prednisone. I got on line and read all this terrible stuff. I am so Horrified! Today I am in pain like my body is bruised and my face is swollen a little. I have acid reflux as well. Non of this is typical for me. My knee thing is ok again, but I am just appalled! I have no MED insurance. I hope this isn't the beginning of worse things I am not taking that drug now. The Dr. didn't say I needed to taper...

I hope I have not damaged myself by taking this drug! My heart goes out to all of you! My question is - Why are the Dr.'s prescribing this terrible drug?

I posted a question to anyone who used Tri-Sprintec before, but now it's been several months & I'd like to let everyone else know how it's worked for me! Tri-Sprintec has been the best birth control I've ever taken. I have been on other birth controls over the years, and up to this point Yasmin was good but I still had some side effects. I've just started my fourth month on Tri-Sprintec, and I feel more like myself again. I don't have any crazy mood swings, my skin has cleared up, my periods are regular again & my appetite has gone back to normal. I recommend Tri-Sprintec to anyone who is looking for an affordable & reliable birth control (it's offered at the Wal-Mart pharmacy for $9 a month if you don't have insurance.)

I suspect Advair is responsible for my having come down with pneumonia, stabbing chest pains( which the Dr. at the ER suggested was Pleurisy) and severe back pain in my lower back. I haven't been able to sleep in bed for at least 6 weeks and must sleep in a chair with my feet propped up on an ottoman.I have used Advair since July 2007, first 250/50 then 500/50 and now back to 250/50 in order to reduce hoarseness. The pneumonia is gone after 5 days hospitalization; the pleurisy pain has just subsided with pain killers and anti inflammatory meds . But the severe lower back pain is still there; my orthopedic Dr. has recommended physical therapy which I plan to initiate. However, stopping the use of Advair may be exactly what I need to end the back pain. I would like to mention that I did experience Thrush upon using Advair and I found that it completely went away when I started drinking pure Pomegranate juice. It doesn't taste great but it was recommended by friends during the time I had pneumonia, and lo and behold, it seems to have done away with Thrush. The Advair along with Siriva does seem to help my asma but these suspected side effects are very debilitating.

I began taking Doxycycline after hospitalization for MSRA. I am currently one week into Doxycycline after five days on IV Vincamycin in the hospital.

Since being home from the hospital I have had bouts of extreem dizziness with an overwhelming feeling of being disconnected from reality.

I am normally a motivated, high functioning person, now I feel overwhelmed, depressed and on verge of tears ( I am not a crier) almost constantly.

The MSRA responded well to the Vincamycin. I experienced extreem dizziness on the fourth day of Vincamycin, but it passed quickly. The dizziness I am experiencing now lasts for a long time.
