Since changing from Synthroid to Levoxyl almost six months ago, I've gotten worse. I have much of the same symptoms as the one's i've read ie: headaches, swelling, numbness in fingers, fatigue, body aches, depression, hot and cold, but the latest one is very concerning for me, I never had allergies before, and now, my throat is always itchy, my ears are itchy, and it's making me crazy. Also, my fingers get numb and now at night my hands get very hot and itcy also. Can anyone out there relate? Thank you

I'm glad I wandered across this page. I have been on Yasmin for almost two weeks and I finally decided that I couldn't take it any more. I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and the pill exacerbated the effects. I was barely able to get out of bed and missed several days of class. Yesterday, I experienced some slight vertigo and when I lay down on the bed I experienced a spinning sensation. At times my heart beats fast and at others I get chest pains and it feels like my lungs are burning. My complexion has gone to hell. I have a lot more acne than usual. Also, hot and cold flashes. Yesterday I felt feverish and thought maybe I was getting sick. Sometimes the nausea gets to the point where I think I might vomit.
These symptoms are in no way bad compared the Ortho Evra patch that I tried a couple years ago. It made me paranoid and lethargic. I threw up a lot. I locked myself in my room and had horribly violent dreams. I also developed a severe rage problem that came out of absolutely nowhere! There were times when I thought that I was loosing my mind. I think maybe I was a bit. The paranoia was awful and it fundamentally changed me as a person. I think birth control is sceary. I think I'm going to stick to condoms and spermacide from now on.

Was prescribed 750 mg pills of Levaquin for bronchial infection (am also asthmatic). After first pill, had very intense headache - I took 2 Advil Migraine pills and couldn't get any relief. Had quickly and dramatic shifts of temperature being hot and cold, was dizzy, disoriented, confused, couldn't see clearly, eyes hurt. The strangest side effect is that I felt like I needed sugar. If I drank some fruit juice or ate something sweet, I felt a little better. Sleeping overall was impossible - I was wide awake and exhausted - only feel asleep for short intervals of time totally about 2-3 hours a night. I generally felt absolutely miserable on this medication and quite frankly, it wasn't making my bronchitis any better. I gave up on it finally after 4 days and called my doctor. I was then prescribed 400 mg Avelox which I am taking now. I can tell you that after just one pill of Avelox, I feel better than I did yesterday and I do not have any horrible side effects.

I am 70 years old. I got bursitis in my right hip after climbing up and down a ladder during a kitchen remodel. The doctor gave me a shot of Kenalog in my sore hip and within a week I had a small lump at the injection site. Within a month it was the size of a walnut. The doctor gave me 2 different doses of antibiotics followed by surgery to remove the lump. I went into shock during this simple surgery and was in bed for a week. Less than a month later I started experiencing severe hot and cold flashes. After $250 blood/urine tests, the doctor said I was going through the 'change' again and I am now on Premarin (hormone) At 70 years old??? Why? In addition, the scar from the surgery is still red and inflamed and it's been 6 weeks.

3 year old son, prescribed this med, due to possible allergic reaction last spring, with Amoxicilian, for a sinus infection, this year for ear infection. Took his last dose today, of 10 doses, began with a temp, yesterday of 102.4 (spike), and noticing, daily, cheeks getting progressively red, today the worst and still fever. Looks like an allergic reaction also, and I'm seeing the beginning signs of small red dots on his trunk, also increased urination, with hot and cold sweats. I'm hoping this clears up now that he's finished the Sulphameth, another red alert.

I was so scared, I had hot and cold flashes, my legs hurt, blurry vision, anxiety, panic attack. I stopped taking the medication and I called my doctor. If you are prescribed this medication think twice before you take it.

I've read 20 to 25 writeups across the last 12 months from people taking this drug for bladder infection. A re-accuring grouping stands out: hot and cold flashes, loss of appetite, fever, restlessness, inability to sleep, and accasional diizziness. I've experienced these plus a call to the para medics thinking I might be having a heart attack because I was prespiring heavily, was dizzy and had passed out.

am taking 100 dox 2x daily for 2 weeks after being bitten by a tick. wasn't concerned when they told me to start this medicine, didn't expect much in the way of side effects. i will also add that take thyroid meds and they were adjusted downward 3 weeks ago.
i am also being menopause. The first things i noticed were the hot and cold sweats. bone chilling deep inside you cold. menpause? Then the ringing in the ears. Waking up hungry in the middle of the night after the anorexic effect of the medicine wore off. blurred vision ans swollen face. not enough to tell the doctor, but around my eyes especially.
A couple of nights panic attacks and sleeping but not really knowing it. Next came the waking up dizzy with the bad headaches and or having neausa and stomache aches after taking it.
irritability on occasions as well as chest pains. was surprised at my low level of tolerance to noise. i'm stopping this today even though have just one day left.

I was prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim one week ago to treat a urinary tract infection. For the first four days I seemed to be ok although I was very tired and had a loss of appetite which I thought was due to the infection. On the fifth day, after my second dose I began running a fever. Throught the entire evening I experienced hot and cold flashes. I though that I was coming down with something since I have been working alot lately. The sixth day the fever started early. I felt dizzy, skittish and delirious. Again I was up all night with hot and cold flashes. I was suffering from joint pain and neck pain, red spots appeared all over my body. My eyes also became sore. The glands on the back of my neck and behind my jawbone became extremely swollenOne of my co workers looked at my prescription and told me that I may be allergic to sulfer. Since I was already at the end of the medicine and the infection almost gone I decided to try taking benedryl and tylenol. The fever has stopped as well as the dizziness and delirium. The red spots seem to be going away and I have an appetite again. I still feel a bit tired and my neck is still swollen but I dont' want to start all over again on something else. In the future I will tell my doctor that I am allergic to sulfer and cannot take this medication..

Took this for a UTI - stopped taking after 6 days because of:
Fever (101.5) - hot and cold sweats
Severe headaches
Nausea
Dizziness
I would think twice about taking this drug again. It got rid of the UTI fine but the side effects were horrendous - couldn't move out of bed for a whole day.

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism 2 years ago and originally I was prescribed synthroid. I was tired and cold all the time. I was switched by my doctor to Levoxyl 50 mcg about a year ago. I am only 10 lbs overweight I still have not been able to lose. Over the last 4 months I trained and and completed a 26.2 mile marathon and 3 different 13.1 miles half marathons (running) I have not lost any weight.
My enodocrinologist has recommended that I get checked again to see if the dosage needs adjustment. I have a feeling it is too high.I have recently had some symptoms such as hot and cold flashes, headaches, heart palpitations. I have more energy now than ever in my life. Other than the hypothyroidism I am healthy and should not have heart palpitations. and my endo says that the amount of running may have shocked my body into working more efficiently. I am to be tested in a few weeks. I don't know if this is true but I also heard that if you buy medications that are on the shelf too long that they lose some of
their potency.

Following an op on 12th Sept I was given a self administered morphine pump, (Safe measured doses??). Within 6 hours I was experiencing extremly dry mouth, and De-jevous (I knew what was going to be said or done before it happened.)Then the most terrifying hallucinations. My senses were wide open. I could hear every conversation in the ward and outside all at once and it was all going on in MY head. The smell of flowers at the other end of the ward was overpowing.
Along with this came hot and cold sweats even though my temp and pulse were normal. I had the shakes and was VERY confused and frightened and became paranoid. I ripped out all my tubes and phoned the police to say they were trying to kill me. The hallucinations lasted about 4/5 days and the rest about 3 weeks. All this was made worse by the fact that neither Docs or nurses accepted all I was going through. I had no sympathy understanding, counselling and was expected for the most part to look after myself.
I now have post traumatic stress due to how I was treated in hospital during this personal crisis.

I have been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis. Sarcoidosis is a multi system disorder characterized in affected organs by a type of inflammation called granulomas. I happen to have it in my lungs. I was started on 50mg a day of Prednisone for an entire month. During this time I went periods of up to 4 days unable to sleep in spite of being prescribed sleeping medication. I have, over the last 8 months been taken down from 50mg a day to 10mg a day. I have gained 30lbs, my completion is a mess, my skin is oily, I have hot and cold flashes, I am always stuffy, and my mood was so altered I was put on anti-depressants.
My temper is easily agitated and this drug even strained my marriage. I went from a loving husband to a baby having temper tantrums.
This drug is horrible.

I have been on yasmin for three weeks and have never felt so bad in my whole life. I've cried so much, over the most stupid things. It makes me irrational and depressed. In addition, I have the worst nausea and stomach pain, I get hot and cold flashes, can't eat, and have dropped maybe 7 lbs in jsut three weeks because of the nausea. I have a doctors appointment at the end of the week, to switch this BC. It is the worst thing I've even taken in my life, if you have these side effects get off of it.

I was recently prescribed 500 mg of Levaquin per day (for a total of 10 days) to treat a sinus infection and a staph infection of the eye (the systemic Levaquin was in addition to Ciloxin eye drops).
I have almost always been prescribed Zithromycin for infections in the past, which I have used without incident.
All I can say is that I'm on day 7 of the Levaquin now and I'm having several very weird side effects.
I'm anxious as hell, irritable, terrible nightmares, flashes of hot and cold that seem to have nothing to do with the actual temperature of the environment. This Levaquin seems to be having effects on me that are more akin to a psychotropic drug than a regular antibiotic.
I did some research on the web and found out that fluoroquinolone antibiotics compete with GABA receptors in the brain, which means that, at least for some people, the fluoroquinolone antibiotics such as Levaquin will have an effect on them that is pretty much the opposite of valium . . . instead of calming you down . . . it ramps up your central nervous system and can seemingly cause all sorts of weird things.
At least for me, I don't think I'll be wanting to take this Levaquin drug ever again. I can't say it's bad for all people, but it's been a very unsettling experience for me.

A month ago I posted my wife's problems with Levaquin, namely, hot and cold flashes, sore joints and muscles and tingling sensations in body. Since then we have seen a doctor that knew about Levaquin reactions. He said that the problems generally last 2 to 3 weeks and suggested she take A.B. American Biologics "Ultra Infla-zyme Forte" tabs 1x3 times a day and Metagenics "Inflavonoid Intensive Care" tabs 2x3time a day. These are available over the counter in supplement stores. According to my wife they offer some, but not total, relief from the symptoms. After a month she is feeling somewhat better but has, I sorry to say, a long way before she's totally over the negative effects of this drug. Good luck to everyone posting on this site.

In February after receiving Zometa, I twisted my torso to look in the backseat of the car and developed a muscle spasm in the quadratus lumborum muscle in the lower back. This lasted for 3 weeks, and finally resolved with much massage, ibuprofen, and hot and cold therapy to the site. In April, after the treatment, I developed a spasm in my upper back, in the rhomboid and trapezius area along the scapula. Again, it developed after and activity of putting a shelf together. This spasm has lasted for 4 weeks now, massage, ibuprofen, and hot or cold hasn't helped. The only relief I have is at night while sleeping, lying flat on my back in bed. I'm due for another Zometa tomorrow and this time, I will try to not do anything physical right after the treatment. I had no side effects from it up until the last two months, and had been receiving it since August 2002. All of my lab work (calcium, phosphorus, creatinine, and magnesium) has always been normal, along with the electrolyte levels. Any ideas what causes the spasms?
Thanks a lot

I began taking sulfameth about 1 week ago. Everything seemed ok until one morning I woke up and my neck was completely stiff! I started getting the hot and cold feeling and a splitting headache with nausea. I took tylenol and it seemed to improve a little. That evening I woke up every ten mins, just unable to get quality sleep. Next morning I woke up (after no sleep again), COVERED in hives. I mean, from my head to my ankles, these huge, red, itchy things all over! My throat, too. You know how it feels right when you swallow?..that's how my throat felt constantly. I was completely freaked out as hubby was at work and I was home alone with my 4 kids. So we hauled booty to the clinic and sure enough, allergic reaction to the antibiotic. I'm actually allergic to penicillin as well, so the doctor I saw said she was really surprised my other doctor would have prescribed a sulfer drug to me as it has a high instance of causing allergic reactions. hhhmmm...thanks.

She said Claritin won't make you drowsy and will knock it right out (you should take benadryl instead of claritin if you're breastfeeding though). That was yesterday, and besides some weird mottled look on my legs (leftover rash), all seems well.
