Prescribed Avelox after previous antibiotic could not clear up sinusitis. Avelox cleared it up within three days, but I feel worse now. Extreme agitation/anxiety, tremors, twitches, no appetite, boughts of depression, dizzy, lack of coordination, accelerated heart rate, leg shake, cold extremities, very strange, vivid dreams. Doctor told me to stop taking and side effects should clear up in a few days ( I hope). This is nuts. I feel like I am going insane. I could not go to work for three days due to side effects.

I am being treated for ulcertive colitis. I have been on prednisone since Sept of 08. I started out on 40 mg. In late Oct. my doctor started tapering me off 5mg per month. Each month following the tapering date, I would get sick. As I look back, all the signs of withdrawal were there. This Jan. I tapered once again, but the window was only 3 weeks. I hit rock bottom. If there was a symptom, I have it. Nausea, burning in my digestive tract, diarrhea every time I eat, muscle ache, numbness in my legs, swollen feet, sore bones and joints. ( The worst was in my feet. I ended up seeing a podiatrist. He thought plantar faciaitis until I told him about being on prednisone. The small bones in my foot were swelling, The muscles in my calf were buning they were so sore. That was last week. Today my other foot started. I can hardly walk. In addition to that, I am lightheaded, have elevated blood pressure, and fatigue. I also had some vision problems that sent me to the doctor. I went through a ton of testing which all were negative. It seems that pseudotumor is another symptom of withdrawal. I have a history of that. It would have been nice to know that. As I look back each month, I had different muscle and joint pain that lasted about a week. I was put on an acid reducer in Dec. to help my stomach, but in all of this time, I was not told that these all may be withdrawal symptoms. I have been off work for two weeks now in addition to the days I missed each month. My physician is now controlling the tapering procedure. They up the dose to 10 mg again. They plan on weaning me by 1mg doses. This has been a terrible experience for me. I have only been severely sick one other time in my life. This pain is awful. It is chronic. This drug may be beneficial, but it is like poison too. Anyone who takes this should really ask a lot of questions, and be careful..

I posted a note about all my aches and pains on the 16 of this month and have since done a bit more research and I found several sites that have posts from people on their experience with certain drugs and Lipitor seems to be the one main drug that every one complains about. Granted, there may be a few that have no ill side effects from Lipitor, but you have to remember - - - we are not all alike. But to have so many people complain about the same drug with about the same side effects has got to tell you some thing . There must be a way to make these doctors and the pharmaceutical companies realize that the BENEFITS DO NOT OUT WAY THE SIDE EFFECTS ! And that a LONG TERM study MUST be done on any drug for human consumption !!!! And not to use us as their guinea pigs.

My doctor prescribed me Prednisone on May 3. I'm on 10 mg. I start out on 3 tabs 2x a day for 4 days, then 2 tabs 2x a day for 3 days, then 1 tab 1x a day for 2 days. I was put on this for a sudden attack of joint pain/stiffness/swelling of my elbows, wrists, hands, knees, ankles and feet. I was in extreme pain. So far this drug has given me no side effects other than needing to urinate a little more often than usual. My pain is gone, as is the swelling. I'm almost scared to go off this b/c of the fear of the pain coming back. My blood tests came back on Friday and my doctor told me that I had Rheumitic (sorry, I know that's spelled wrong) inflammation and if the pain did come back after I stopped the Prednisone that I'd have to do more blood tests. I just turned 30 and I'm scared to death what else might be wrong with me.

Hello,
I was on Yasmine for 2 years and I have been off of Yasmine for 4 weeks. I had a fast heartbeat while on it and it has become worse lately. I also feel nervous and exhausted, but can't sleep very well. My blood pressure is also elevated sometimes (never had high blood pressure before this pill).
I also had bad stomach aches while on it and started to react to certain things (like eggs) I had never ever had a problem with. All kinds of intestinal complaints but of course the doctor says it is IBS - I wonder if it is the progestin that messes me up so bad. It is so strange. I want to get healthy again but feel really crummy right now, don't want to stand up to long, but try to keep going and doing chores etc, feel like I will pass out and takes a long time to recover from it. Could it bring on the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue or problems with blood pressure on standing???
The fast heartbeat is bugging me. I had an EKG and a sonogram of my heart, stress test 3 years ago and everything was normal (for chest pain while on Ovcon 35).
I hate this and wish I could get well. I've tried magnesium and B vitamins, sometimes I feel more wired-exhausted. This is weird but when I used to get that weird gnawing/stomach hunger while on it I would use baking soda/water to calm down my stomach, this seemed to help some of the other symptoms too??? Maybe sodium is off???
This is really driving me crazy. I have a microbiology degree so I understand a bit about the medical side of this drug but I don't feel like it was researched/tested thoroughly before it was sent out for human consumption!

If any doctor can answer this for me: WHY do you all discount the birth control pill when we women complain about health issues that have only started occurring in conjunction with the taking of the hormones???!! I'm certainly not a medical professional, but I'm intelligent enough to realize that hormones play a HUGE part on the wellness and activity of ones body. To tell a woman that her pain and symptoms are all in her head, to me, is neglectful, insensitive, and downright ignorant considering yours is a field based on a machine as mysterious as the human body is.
For those of you who have had horrible side effects, I urge you to contact Berlex who is the manufacturer of Yasmin in the U.S. The phone number is located in the Yasmin Forums link above. You will speak to a live person who will take your information down and note it. It's very important that if this crap isn't safe for human consumption, that it be taken off the market.

There are actually two components of milk that one can be allergic to - the protein (casein) or the sugar (lactose). My daughter was allergic to the protein at birth, and we (pediatrician & I) knew it was the protein not the sugar, b/c mother's milk is super high in lactose, albeit human lactose and not cow but still is lactose. All babies born into the world have lactase to break down lactose in mother's milk. But some of us must have stopped producing lactase. Wanting my kid to be normal and eat Goldfish, mac 'n cheese as other kids, I tested my daughter at 12 months with Lactaid milk. Diarrhea right away, just like with infant formula. Same thing at 18 months, and at two, I tested her with cheese and organic whole milk. Again, diarrhea. HOWEVER, the only thing she can eat is RAW CHEESE. I would test her on raw milk too if it was legal in my state, but it's not. So my conclusion is this: those who cannot tolerate dairy products or Lactaid may be allergic to casein or milk protein as well. From what I've read, cow milk proteins are very hard to digest, not truly meant for human consumption as much as for cows and calves not only drink the milk raw from mama-cow replete with enzymes but they have four stomachs to help them digest the milk, proteins and sugar and all. This is why some of us have better luck with raw milk (even without 4 stomachs) and why many of us eventually have problems with commercially sold milk from the supermarket that's pasteurized even if we didn't always have problems with it.
