Within a couple of days of taking this medication I experienced numbness in the top of my right foot and up the outside of my leg to med-calf. I became unable to lift my foot up or point my toes upwards. When I walked my foot dropped down and I would almost trip when I walked. The first two times it happened it went away within the day. The last time was June 6, 2006 and it has remained since then with no sign of improvement. My doc called it dropped foot syndrome which is caused by a problem with a nerve in the side of my leg. I am still on the medication and hoping the problem will go away as I adjust to the medication. The medication thus far has had no effect on my hypothroid symptoms especially the fatigue. The muscles in my legs feel weaker than ever and the foot problem makes matters worse.

I am a 38 year old women who is diagnosed with Hypothroid. I was on Levoxyl for a couple weeks and got changed to Armour and was feeling pretty great more like myself. I got switched to Levoxyl again when I found out I was pregnent. I had constant headaches, rashes on neck, loss of concentration, muscle aches and heart palipatations.
I also have depression. I ended up loosing the baby and have some bad days most of the time. My emotions are all over the map.
I am switching my doctor so I am hoping that I can be put on armour again to start feeling like myself.

I've been taking synthroid for 8 weeks for hypothroid and I haven't lost any of the weight yet that I gained with the hypothroid. I have experienced hot flashes and water weight gain around my cycle that I never had before. Other than those symptoms, I feel 100% better.

I had most of my thyroid removed in 1997 due to a tumor attached to the thyroid. My thyroid was working fine but following surgery I became hypothroid. I started with synthroid and then quickly was switched to levoxyl. I have been suffering with arthritis symptoms for the past 5 years to the point of last spring being put on methotrexate. I Have pain in my feet and have difficulty walking most of the day...especially in the morning. I have joint pain and swelling in one knee, one wrist, and a couple of joints in one hand. Methotrexate is a chemotherapy drug used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. I have been diagnosed with RA but it does not show up in any blood tests. In addition, if you look at the signs and symptoms of RA I really only have around 50% of them. I just found this website and I am shocked to find so many people sufferning from the same arthritis symptoms while using levoxyl. I stopped taking the drug (levoxyl) two days ago after insisting my doctor remove me from this drug and switch to Amour thyroid. I took several of the emails listed on this website to help convince my doctor that there is a problem with this drug. I will post an email in a couple of weeks with any improvements in my condition. By the way, the methotrexate was not working!!

I took 50mcg of Levoxyl for 6 days and stopped on Sunday due to side effects. I am a 56 year old female 5'4' and weigh 108lbs. My only hypothroid symptoms were dry skin and nail problems, minor depression and semi high cholesterol. Each day the side effects got worse until I felt like I had severe PMS and had just had 4 cups of strong coffee. Sunday night I only got about 3 hours of sleep even after taking an over the counter sleeping pill. I notified my DR. on Monday AM and told her I had to stop taking it. She said to stay off of it for at least 1 and maybe 2 weeks and then she would try me on Synthoid 25mcg.
For me, Levoxyl was an evil drug and I would not wish the way I felt on it on my worst enemy. I was at least glad to find this site and learn that others had the same problems. Otherwise I might have felt that I was going crazy.

I had my son Oct 2008 and had Mirena inserted at my 6 week postnatal checkup. At that point I had lost about 15 lbs of baby weight and was feeling pretty darn good for just having a baby.
Since then I have gained back the 15 lbs plus 15 more despite exercising and dieting and NURSING for 11 months! I have had blurry vision, no sex drive, migraines, acne on my face and arms?!?!, and just been all around grumpy. I have also been diagnosed as hypothyroid since being on this - I don't know for sure if it is related to Mirena, but I do know that I was tested for it before becoming pregnant with my miracle baby because my husband and I were declared infertile!
I have spotted almost the entire time despite not having a "real" period since before my son was born. I do not want any more children (12 year old girl and 1 year old boy keep me pretty darn busy), but decided to take out the mirena after reading this site and seeing that other women have had the same issues. Removed on Tuesday (Nov 10) and guess what - I already feel better! There was no pain getting it removed and no cramping, unlike the insertion process.
I am looking forward to seeing the other side effects disappear. I wish that my OB would have focused more on possible side effects instead of how simple it would be. The past year has been a personal hell for me when it should have been one of the happiest times of my life! I hope that the rest of you find this helpful:) Good luck!
