I had my Mirena IUD put in May 1st of 2007 and all the side effects that came along with it......the constant spotting, acne, itching breasts (which I thought was due to new bras that I had just purchased), nausea, depression (which I had to go back to taking Wellbutrin), no energy; tired all the time. My biggest side effect which I have not found any others to have is Allergies. I know it sounds crazy, but I have never had problems with allergies until a month and half after getting the IUD, extreme allergy symptoms, swollen glands, neck pain, very shortness of breath; to the point that I was down for a whole day here and there, I am having to take Allegra; had to get a steroid shot. Now that it is cold, I thought I would be getting break from the allergies, nope. I joined a gym hoping that it would help in giving me energy, nope.........I have talked to my Dr and the nurses that work with my gyno and they act as if I am making this stuff up. It is very frustrating when you know that your body has done a complete 360 in the wrong direction and everyone seems to think your crazy.

Well I am having my IUD taken out as soon as I can!

Hey you all......the lipitor saga continues. I posted #23428 on Sept 6th. On Sept 13th I picked a 30 pound piece of fabric up at work and there was a big POP in my left arm. Distal Biceps Tendon rupture.....TORE it off the Bone. I have been weightlifting for 20 years and never had an injury such as this. I am used to lifting much heavier weights with no problem. Had surgery to reattach 9/18...7 weeks post op and still in brace. Will take a year to fully heal. Both my doctor and Ortho said they have never heard of tendon rupture caused by statin drugs...but I am convinced that it was directly related to lipitor damage/side effects. I did have my doctor shaking in his shoes, I told him with conviction that I would never again take a statin drug and I held him responsible. Would like to hear from anyone who may have had tendon issues while taking this drug. I hope we all get better soon!
Peace
Brian

I got my Mirena put in may 07. it was so painful i was crying on the table while my OB was putting it in. i had NON STOP bleeding till about september then it finally went away. but the past couple of months i have been having SEVERE lower back pain. actually my whole entire back was in pain, and i thought my ob had something to do with it, but when i went to the doc he told me it could DEF be mirena. And mood swings like CRAZY. one minute i was nice and friendly the next i was a huge bitch. so Yesterday i got it removed a little cramping while she was taking out but it only took about 3 minutes no blood bo cramps after. Im SO happy its gone, and i feel like a new woman today. and hopefully ill lose some weight.

I decided to get Mirena after the birth of my second son. I seemed like such a great idea. I had it put in last Sept. My doctor is very good and warned me about some things that might happen after it was inserted. What I didn't expect was just how bad I bled after getting it. I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating, but there was a point where I was running to the bathroom every 15 minutes to change. It was horrible, but my doctor assured me that everything was normal and I should see some improvement within the next few months. Including the heavy bleading, I bled for about a month and a half straight. About a month of that was the annoying spotting. Since then, I haven't had a period, which I love...the only thing I love about it. The past year has been rough, but I never associated it with Mirena until now. I was starting to lose my baby weight but now I weigh about 5 lbs more than I did just after giving birth. My stomach looks bigger than my sister's and she's almost 7 months pregnant. I was put on anti depressants, but associated that with post partum depression...now I'm not sure what caused it. My husband and I have been fighting more and we even considered spitting up. I'm just not ME and he has even said it. I have acne like a teenager, weight gain (no matter what I do), very low sex drive, BLOATING, cramps, my memory is pretty much non existent, nausea, horrible sleep pattern which causes extreme tiredness all the time, sore body, constant discharge, and blurred vision. I've actually taken pregnancy tests because I felt worse than when I was pregnant. I've talked to my husband about the Mirena and wanting to get it out, but he's just worried that I'll get pregnant again if I get it out. He doesn't realize how bad I really feel cuz I'm not telling him. We decided that our marriage is worth saving so I'm trying to do my part by not getting mad at him for every little thing and not complaining about how awful I feel. He just started a new job, too, so insurance hasn't started at the new place and his old place of employment has already stopped it through them. I can't pay for a regular doctor's visit without insurance, so I guess I'm stuck with it for now. Sorry for babbling, I just don't have anyone to talk to, so once I start, I just keep going.

hi eryka,
don't worry i am exactly the same with the anxiety,i feel loads better than i did on yasmin and most days i feel pretty much normal, when i am ovulating i start to feel a bit more anxious and the same when i am menstruating. it still throws me now and again if it comes out of nowhere and does not coincide with my monthly cycle,i start to think maybe i am crazy after all and that i really do have an anxiety disorder instead of it being the yasmin, but i am sure it is the yasmin otherwise i would not have improved once i stopped taking it. just keep in mind that it will not hurt you and that it will get better, just laugh it off if you can.if you are prepared for it it is much less scary!

best wishes to you.

I have been going through the nightmare that is Yasmin for 2 months now and have been trying to help my body as much as possible. I have been taking a multivitamin plus a B Complex and a supplement that includes zinc, magnesium and calcium. Here is my question: about ten or twently minutes after I take all three vitamins I feel extremely nauseous for a couple of minutes and I have to lay down and wait it out. I have not actually gotten sick but this happens nearly every day. I have tried everything...taking the vitamins together, apart, at the end of the meal and in the middle.

Has anyone else struggled with this? Does anyone know if vitamins do cause nausea and why? I am nearly positive it is the vitamins because the nausea always happens right after I take them, no matter what time of the morning I take them.

Also, is it normal to still struggle a bit with anxiety even if I am not ovulating or menstruating at this time in my cycle? I do feel much much better on the whole, but I just want to make sure that even though I feel quite good most days, that it is still considered normal to have some hard moments. I think on my good days I get in the mindset that I am all better, and then I freak myself out if I do feel a bit of anxiety. I sometimes feel like I have to attribute the anxiety to that time of the cycle, due to coming off Yasmin, but if I am not in that part of my cycle, I get scared that I am crazy and that it is not Yasmin even though I know in my heart it is.

Any feedback from those who have gone through this nightmare would be appreciated!! Take care, everyone. You are ALL in my thoughts, all the time.

First, I must say that ADVAIR always did exactly what it it supposed to for my astma. Within two doses of the medicine it has always soothed my lungs and helped me breathe.

But I have always gained weight every time I am on it for more than a month, so I wait until my asthma is pretty bad (usually in winter time or while allergies are bad). I use it intermittently for a month at a time and that helps keep my weight normal. If you suffer from a lot of candida, like I do, you should also be careful and stay away from eating a lot of sugar.

My doctor thinks I am crazy because I don't want to be on ADVAIR all year long, but it seems to help the way I do it, and I think that is the most important thing.

Hi,
I have been on Linsinopril since 7-24 and I hate it!!!! My blood pressure still spikes 170/108, but in this last week it has stayed pretty stable at about 125/89. I hate the side effects though and my doctor's are acting like I am crazy. I just called to report them and they said that the side effects I mentioned are not caused by this medicine. This is pure Crap!!! Everyone I have talked to has the same side effects--the tingleing all over the body, dizziness, severe nausea and I have actually thrown up 4 times this week alone, but Doc said it's not this med!!! I don't know what to do??? I am only 35 and I don't want to go untreated with the HBP, but I can't live like this!!!! any suggestions??? I would really like to try and lower it naturally!

I have been taking 300 mg lithium for a few months. For some reason I never even considered it to be the reason that i feel terrible and throw up a few nights a week.

As for my weight, I lost 10 lbs when I started wellbutrin last december. So when i started the lithium i may or may not have lost a few more pounds. The scale has said about 111 the whole time, but everyone keeps telling me more and more how great I look as time goes by. Probably the lithium is causing me to lose water weight. Though I now carry a water bottle with me at all times!! Actually, I started to doing that with the wellbutrin and my cottonmouth has improved since the lithium. I use to wake up in the middle of the night over a nightmare about dying of dehydration because I was so thirsty.

I guess I am very lucky with regards to side effects of drugs. There are other bummers, like I dont drink anymore, and there is definitely a STIGMA attached to lithium. Even thought I technically have not been diagnosed as bi-polar. In all of 2005 I was extremely depressed and even jumped off a second story window and shattered my sholder. Then I went bankrupt. All I ever did was think about dead all the time.

I was so happy (and shocked) when Wellbutrin allowed me to stop thinking about death. Then we added lithium to keep me from crying all the time. Well my point is

1. Wellbutrin can counter the weight gaining effect of lithium (Or at least it did for me)

2. Does anyone else get sick at night all the time? How about HICCUPS?

3. I agree with the previous posting... I dont care if my family and friends think I am crazy or if I start to gain a lot of weight when I get a little older, I never, EVER want to be that sad ever again.

Best wishes to everyone reading this. I understand your pain. If anyone ever gives you a hard time such as because "others have it hard too", or "it's all in your head" tell them that I said for them to shove off. This is our only life, no one should have to be unhappy.

I know I wrote a lot. But hopefully at least one person finds this helpful. I use to spend hours on the computer trying to find answers. (The depression was so bad I couldn't leave the house to work.) I check ******weekly if anyone has any additional questions.

Hello Everyone!

I really need some help. I have been off of the pill for almost 5 months now and I still have anxiety. I was just curious if there is anyone else out there that feels or felt like they had obsessive compulsive disorder?? The thoughts are very irrational and very disturbing. It is very scary. Never had these thoughts before I got on this pill. I can tell that I am getting better but it is a very SLOW process. I feel like there is something mentally wrong with me. Just trying to hear from someone who has had the same symptoms as me. I feel like I am crazy and it is very scary. Please someone help!

I am nervous more than normal and I just can't seem to beat it. I am not crazy and am nervous (naturally) about tring to explain to the doctor because I think he will think i am crazy. Now I am staring to sould crazy. I really would like to switch to a new pill but I do not know which one to switch to.

Hello everyone. I am here to add my "two cents" about Yasmin. I have been off of it for about 2 months now, and I am feeling much better. I originally was put on birth control pills to control horrible cramps during both ovulation and my period. I am a 47-year old female who has been getting worse and worse pms and periods. I tried a couple other birth control pills, but my blood pressure was on the high side, so my OB/GYN explained that it might be worth trying Yasmin, since it has a diruetic in it. Like most of the other posts I have read, I don't know if I am "crazy" or not, but all I can attribute my symptoms to is Yasmin. I started taking Yasmin in the end of February, and by day two, I was nauseous and was constantly in the bathroom. Within a week, my entire lower abdomin was tender to the touch. By this past Easter (the end of March), I began running a fever and went to the Dr. I was put on Cipro, as they thought I had either a lower abdominal infection or diverticulitis. I was sent for a lower GI and they did see some small kidney stones and a 4 mm cyst on my right ovary. The cyst eventually went away and I continued to experience nausea and tenderness in my lower abdomin. After my period in the end of March/beginning of April, I went off Yasmin. ALL IS NOW FINE. Am I crazy? I don't know if this is a coincidence, or if these symptoms were caused by the Yasmin. I have never been so sick in my life. I am now hormone free - I will put up with the heavy painful periods for awhile longer!
Good luck to all!

VERY STRANGE SIDE EFFECT. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYTHING SIMILAR HAS HAPPENED TO YOU. I cannot find anything like it in the available literature.

I had forgotten to take my paxil the night before. I had about 3 cups of coffee about 5:30am. This side effect occurred about 10:00am. I was driving in bright sunlight into the sun. Suddenly, there was a strain in my brain and a loud snap or pop in my brain and sudden flashes of light like a strobe or lightning. It went away as soon as it was over (.25 seconds) and did not occur again.

I think my psychiatrist thinks I am crazy. She is asking now if I am hearing voices.

Where can I get some confirmation on this side effect?

PLEASE HELP!

James

I am a 32 year old male who has been on Lipitor for about four years. High cholesterol runs in the family, and recently went up to 40mg. I think this was a big mistake.

I have experienced some nasty side effects including chest pain, upset stomach, and horrible muscle cramps and tingling. My feet are always cold and have a tingling sensation in them. I did have some mild muscle cramping before upping the dose, but it defintely became worse. I have stopped taking any more lipitor for a week, but the symptoms remain. I also do get dizzy at times, and have trouble sleeping.

I have now stopped taking the drug for a week now, but the symptoms remain. I would appreciate if anyone could let me know if they have stopped, how long, if any, did the symptoms start to go away. I am worried that it has been a week, and I still have the foot tingling sensation and the muscle cramps in the legs. I hope this goes away.

For some good news, for people that have exprienced some chest pain or discomfort, I did find that taking a gas inhibitor did provide some relief. The chest pain is caused I believe by the stomach, like a heartburn. This did provide some relief, though I have not found anything that helped the muscle cramps and coldness.

I am off to the doctor and I hope to hear something that will make me better. My wife thinks I am crazy and thinks it will go away now that I have stopped. I hope she is right, because it is really starting to wear on me mentally.

I have never posted or complained about Lipitor before. I am not an angry patient, or someone who has a grudge to bare. I just want to feel normal again, and not feel so crazy and bad all the time. I am took young to feel this way.

Thank you for reading my story.

I was started on Questran over three months ago since I had reacted badly to statin drugs. I was taking 1 scoop twice a day. With that dosage I had some nausea and other similar feeling, but not unbearable. However, after three months of usage my overall cholesterol came down somewhat, but my triclycerides went up and my HDL came down. Very disappointing. My Dr. told me to take a double dose each day--before long I had what felt like a cessation of intestinal function---very constipated and a feeling of rawness in my inestine---and felt quite ill, along with having a lot of pain in my gut. The Dr. had assured me that this medication had NO side effects, but I think he lied. They do that a lot in my experience. Why they feel they cannot tell you the truth is beyond me, but they do it all the time. Especially if you are a woman. Besides that I have panic and anxiety disorder which I developed early in my life due to a bad home life and a marriage into more of the same stuff; however I am over that, but I think once you have it you are looked on, especially if you are a woman, as forever being in the control of those disorders. I also have fibromyalgia, and have had a lot of pain in my life, so am no stranger to it. Also I had seven children, without any anesthesia whatsoever with any of them, so I think I am not a baby when it comes to pain. However, in my experience many doctors overlook that sort of thing. I have now decided not to take any more questran until I get some answer as to what is going on here. On reading the message above I see that I am not the only one having this result from this medication. That helps, since I don't have to feel that I am crazy or something.

I appreciate any information I can get on this question. I am not taking any more of this stuff until I get an answer, and I know I won't get it from the Dr. He is new to me and I to him--the Dr. he replaced was my Dr. for about 15 years---we grew to know each other well and he respected what I told him. However, he has become very ill and apparently will never be able to come back to practice. So I am now stuck with a new one whom I don't know and who does not know me. Nuts.
Thanks for any help.

The Good:
I am 31 and have been on Yasmin for two years. I have been on the other pills since I was 14 due to very erratic periods. Yasmin has been the best pill I have ever taken for cramps, period length and bloating. I am 5"4, 110, and a
34- D. My boobs have only gotten slightly larger than they are when I am not on the pill. For me that has been a very good thing.

The VERY Bad:
BUT........ I have had horrible migraines, naseau, depression, fatigue, and the worst acne I have ever had. As a matter of fact, I am on accutane now to clear it up. My skin is also now covered in dark brown patches that will not go away! I have had chemical peels, and use skin lightening cream, but they will not go away. My husband thinks I am crazy because I am ALWAYS sick. As far as sex drive goes, forget it, there is NONE. My husband thinks I don't love him. What makes me so mad is that my doctor told me it wasn't from the yasmin it must be psychological! My doctor also blamed my acne and fatigue on something else as well. Boy was she wrong! My last pill is this Friday, and it will be THE LAST PILL I TAKE! Thank you for letting me know I am not alone. Maybe there is hope!

High cholersterol runs in my family and my has been high for years, it just lept up to 415. I was on 40mg of zocor daily and my ears started ringing and I felt that I was having constant panic attacks because my heart rate went up to 160 and was short of breath. My doc told me it was because of my thyroid was elevated. I stop my zocor for a week and then started again. After 10days the ringing of ears, shortness of breath, chest pain, tachycardia and a new one depression started all over again. I have an appointment with my doc I know that she will think that I am crazy, but I will not take this drug again.
