I'm glad to have found this website posting as tonight I decided it's time to do further research on Singulair and check the issues I'm experiencing. I've decided tonight that I'm going off so I can do some testing and rule out whether they are causing the following side effects for me:
I've been on Singulair for almost 6 months. When I first started, I had a heck of a time getting through the drowsiness but it got easier each day and gradually after a month, I stopped being so "spacey". I started Singulair primarily to address my asthma issues and the tightness in my chest and as an added bonus, it helps my allergies so I went off the Claritin as well. Singulair has done wonders for my asthma and I have rarely had to use my inhaler or have asthma attacks. (I should note, I wanted to eliminate steroids in my life since it causes acne etc. etc.)
Meanwhile, I've noticed changes in myself. I'm more lazy, take naps on the weekends, less hyper (which is a good thing on my stressful job) but I've lost my "edge" where I should be quick on my feet and responses. Recently, I've noticed that I'm slurring my words and having speech problems. I have got lost a couple times in my train of thoughs. I also seem to experience being dyslexia - I frequently type letters and numbers jumbo'd around. Very unlike me!
I also have severe dry mouth almost like an infection. I tend to get itchy around my neck and arms for no reason - almost like a mild form of nerves twitching simulation. I've got more sinus infections but that could also be due to not using Claritin and perhaps, I need to be on it at the same time.
I've cut back to 5mg (I cut my pills in half) for a few months and felt less tired but my speech and other side effects are still present. Heck, it could be a sign of aging or other things occuring but I need to start somewhere. I am sad that it could be Singulair because it's the best drug for my asthma but I have concerns about the other impacts it might have on my health and well being. I'll post updates in a few weeks.
Feel free to email me to talk about anything offline - I'm eager to hear from others!

Oh yea and the other thing is that when I was Yasmin, I only got my period for three days and only one of those days was "kinda" heavy. Now I have my period for 7 full days, even longer if you count the spotting before... I haven't had 7 day periods since I was 17 and that's why I went ont he pill to begin with then! I am sad that I had to get off of Yasmin, but I am certainly not going to stay on this one!

My husband went on Lisinopril in Feb 07, his bp went down and was regulated his headaches almost left but then he had sinus surgery in mar or apr. He has now developed muscle twitching and now the "doctors" say he has Motor Neuron Disease.... I refuse to believe after reading everyone's side affects that this 41 year old with no family history of this other than 1/2 siblings with high bp that he has this disease. He has experienced neck stiffness like it is broken (had MRI) no broken bones or slipped disc, he has had the chills, hw has vision blurred issues, heaviness in his legs, left side of his body more prominent than the right, he has crazy dreams and thoughts, he feels like he is dying, he doesn't however have any coughs, he has anxiety which they put him on anti depressant. After reading others comment I researched this med, it was developed by venom in a poisonous Brazilian snake. My husband as a child would get bitten by wasps, fire ants etc.. they would rush him to ER for meds and he used to take shots if stung, swells up like a balloon. So in my theory this med has the snake bite affects and I believe this has caused him to have this neuron disease but I can't prove it. His muscles twitch all the time. I believe this drug has been slowly poisoning him to a eventually paralysis to death. I have begged the doctor to take him off. He has but now he is on Atenolol, which is not much better but has no snake venom or ACE inhibitors. Please people email me. I am desperate we need to band together.
Thanks you Joann

I have been on Desogen for 6 years, within the past 4 months i was switched to Apri. I just now realized that maybe all of these emotional problems i have been having are from this pill. i was somewhat depressed in highschool when i started taking it. so i have figured that this whole time i am just a depressed person. i went off antidepressants cuz i didn't like how i felt and now that i am 22 and i still have this crying all the time crap (that i thought i had mostly just inherited from my mother even tho my sister doesn't have it) i get some days even weeks were i am sad depressed. i always over analyze things which i have heard could be a symptom. So now i am doing all this reseach and i found that in the Side effects of desogen that it says "stop taking this medicine and consult a doctor if you experience any signs of depression (sleep problems, mood changes, etc..) WTF!! can i say that seriously i can't believe it.. and now i am just waiting for my doc to call me back. i dont know if i should quit completely or switch. in a way i would like to quit because i want to know who i am.. what i am normally like! its been 6 years!!! o my goodness phamecuticals are evil!

I am sad and angry. I am a singer. Advair was prescribed for me about 7 months ago because of slight emphysems. I had already quite smoking (It's now almost 11 months since I've smoed. I was afraid of Adviar because it is a steroid, and i very early noticed some hoarseness but was eassured by my doctor, so i continued. Actually, I used it only about half of the time because of my fear. After about 7 months, I developed significant hoarseness. Now a ENT and my GP have both expressed the opinion that it is the Advair that casued the problem. I always rinsed my mouth and my throat and also gargled after using the Adviar, but it didn't work. I have not taken the medicine since Jan. 23, and there is some improvement. My GP says it might take 2 months. My breathing went from the 58 th to the 75th percentile after 6 months of not smoking. I also do a lot of cariovascular exercise, so i think i'll be all right without the medicatiion. What I want is HEALING for my VOICE. Do you know of anything i can do?

I've been taking Yasmin for almost a month. Although I am sad and depressed all the time, I just connected it with that my serious relationship with my boyfriend is gradually, painstakingly coming to an end. I will be leaving for college in a couple of weeks and am sad to leave family and friends. These are all things I would naturally be upset about, but my mother tells me that there's a constant cloud over my head. I've read other postings and can relate to others' symptoms. I am just sad all the time. I leave my tv on at nights so I can have some other kind of "noise". I can usually fall asleep in 10-15 mintutes, but lately when I'm lying down in complete silence, I analyze everything I'm depressed about (namely my boyfriend) to where I can't go to sleep for hours. I had nausea for the first week or so. I found that if I ate breakfest before hand, it was better. Speaking of food, I have no appetite. I actually become nauseated from not eating, but when I go to eat, I feel like I'll throw up if I take a second bite. Clothes are fitting better, but I have no energy from not eating.
The same life routine irregularities (sp?) are what happens when I become depressed about certain issues, so it's difficult for me to differentiate what's natural for me and what is caused by the pill. Insight anyone???

Hallelujah, its OUT!
I got mine out today!!! I made sure to take ibuprofen before I went in and thank heavens the removal was NOTHING like the insertion! Quick, easy and pretty painless!
I sure wish I could go "au naturel' at this point but my husband and I just can not risk pregnancy right now. I am grudgingly going to start on a low hormone pill on Sunday...
I will post in the future to share what changes happen now that the thing is gone!
Good luck to all you ladies!
