I am so happy symptoms and conditions

Hi there!
I have to say, I am so happy that I have found this website. I feel like I'm crazy!! I have been taking Yasmin for a little over a year or so and within the past two month I have noticed significant stress, anxiety, depression (which I have NEVER experienced in my life). Although, over the past year I have noticed I have been tired, overall low energy, and snappy for no reason. Really high strung. I never knew why.

I do have to ask though, those of you who have stopped taking, or switched from Yasmin...have you noticed a shift in mood for the better? Have you noticed a difference in depression? I am planning to make an appointment for my OB/GYN tomorrow to get off this pill. I just want some hope that things will indeed get better, you know??

I am so happy to see these responses, because I was really starting to get frustrated with myself, not to mention my boyfriend thinking it was him and that I didn't think he was attractive anymore. Since I have been on NuvaRing, I have completely lost my sex drive. We used to have sex at least once a day, and I loved every minute of it. Now, after using the ring for 6 months, we are only having sex maybe twice a week, but I am not interested in it at all. This has, obviously, caused a lot of problems in our relationship. I am constantly making excuses like "I'm tired" and "I'm not in the mood", and my boyfriend is just getting annoyed and frustrated and is now thinking that it's HIM. I told him it's not him, because it's not like I see a hot guy out there and am like "I have to have him NOW." No one turns me on, and I have no interest in sex. Until I read other people's responses about sexual side effects of the Ring, I thought something was really wrong with me. I have one extra ring for next month, so I will be starting a new pill in January...maybe Yaz? I heard good things about Yaz. Ah I miss wanting sex!! (And so does my boyfriend...I feel so bad he thinks it's him...)

Oh, sorry I forgot the lack of sex drive, continual nausea, muscle aches like the flu, lithargia, paranoia and the red spots. I am so happy to find this website and to finally know after two weeks of hell that I am not going crazy! Like others, the symptoms came on slowly so I didn't put them together. And some things I thought were just life happening and age. I can't wait to tell my husband that I will be back as soon as this last dose leaves my system! I will not take this again and will research anything further. I had similar side effects to an anit-depressant, Lexapro 3 years ago and have sworn off EVER, NEVER taking another anti-depressant. Oddly though with the side effects of this medication I started thinking I needed an anti-depressant again. May God bless this website and its readers!

I took Doxycycline Hyclate one night before going to bed. Big mistake. It was still in my throat when I woke up the next morning. I assumed the pill would eventually go down on its own. Boy was I wrong. The pill was stuck in my throat for approximately 4 days. I finally called a local clinic and one of the nurses told me to take some maalox and drink warm water. The maalox helped the pill go down. I also tried goggling with warm salty water. Then two day later, I had a headache so I took a ibprophin and drunk some apple just about an hour later. I started feeling nausea and I had stomach pains for about 15-20 minutes. All of a sudden, I began to vomit apple juice. I took a nap and when I woke up, I ate lunch and I had no problem eating. I no longer felt the heartburn while eating. I didn't even feel the pill. I am so happy that the pill is gone. I guessing it was the acid that's in apple juice. If anyone is looking for advice on how to make it go down, I'm pretty sure you could skip most of the steps I took and just try drinking the apple juice.

ANY BIRTH CONTROL (INCLUDING YASMIN) MAKES ME CRAZY!!! THANK GODDDD I had a friend who had the same thing happen to her, and she pretty much made me get off, b/c she knew how I started acting was b/c of my birth control. It almost ruined my new marriage...I would cry because of anything and it was SO NOT ME. I even started waking up with anxiety attacks. I was totally depressed all of a sudden, after a year of being on it. I got off of Yasmin and it was like some one turned ON the lights. I am totally back to normal,,now I cry b/c I am SO HAPPY! and looking back I really was crazy, and I couldn't have done anything about the way I was acting. I am SO happy now and my husband doesn't mind the "natural family planning" method b/c he has his normal confident wife back. I guess women do have a needy crybaby stigma.....they're all on birth control. If you're crying for no reason....EVERYDAY.....GET OFF BIRTH CONTROL!!!

Here it is almost 1 in the morning and my fiance and I are worried sick thinking that my soon to be mother in law was either having a stroke or heart attack...this site may very well be a life saver!!for us all. After going to varoius websites trying to narrow down my mohter in laws symptoms and her refusal to go to the ER .....we went to the medicine cabinet and began to look up side effects of her prescriptions...and wouln't you know it there is the bottle of Lisinopril....I am scheduled to go the Dr. with my mother in law tomorrow and I will be sure to take all this information and the bottle with me. Although, we are not 100% relieved I have some piece of mind knowing that she may not be suffering a stroke or heart attack!!!. The past three days she has been suffering from the chills. night sweats, numbness/pins nad needles in her arms, sever headache and nausea.....and she has been sleeping more than I have ever seen her sleep in my life!! and not to mention the coughing!!!After reading all the side effects that everyone else has posted the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fit! Thank you so much to everyone for sharing your information it has been most helpful and somewhat comforting....it just goes to show that as always prescriptions are a money making racket and drs will prescribe anything to anyone to make a buck!!!!

Girls everywhere . I have one question and please you can reply in private or on here, whatever you like. Did any of the doctors that prescribed Yasmin to you ever give you a hormonal test? I have been going through really bad emotional mood swings for a white but did not have insurance so never really go myself checked out. So last month I went back to my home country and visited a gyno(where medicine is not so overpriced) who has been recommended to me by numerous people and he did a bunch of hormone tests on me concluded (by blood work) that I have a hormonal inbalance. Before the tests were done he obviously asked me a bunch of questions and I warned him that last time i had gone on a losely prescribed birth control(which is was suppose to be very low hormone dosage) I went practically nuts. After seeing my results and finding my inbalance he has prescribed Yasmin to me because apparently I have too much estrogen and other things I couldnt really understand because I am not a doctor but I think one of the things it does is to block some of these hormone from going to your brain. So My point after all this rambling is that ALL of our bodies are different and all birth controls are different and have different hormones which could drive a normal person insane with or without taking the pills SO my suggestion if you are having trouble with Yasmin is to get your hormone levels checked, Yasmin may be the devil to you but its probably because you dot need certain components that are in it or lack some. Get real tests done!

OMG, I am so happy I found this site. I have been on Advair for two years. I do feel it has helped my asthma, but I have been having other problems that I didn't relate to asthma until I saw a commercial tonight and heard some of the side effects.

I have had chronic leg pain and have even had problems walking. I am an avid walker and have been walking at least 3 miles every day and I am gaining weight!!! I am really going to continue reading these posts and bring this to the attention of my doctor.

I took the Nuva Ring out about three weeks ago for reasons unrelated to any symptoms. I just happened to find this site today looking at something else. I had no idea that the things that were going on with me could be related to the Nuva Ring until I'm reading these posting today. I've always had migraines so I didn't attribute them to the Nuva Ring - however several months ago (I started using Nuva Ring in March) I had to go to the hospital because I had a severe migraine for over three days and the Imitrex that usually alleviates the pain - sometimes even temporarily did not work at all. Also I had suffered from depression before taking Nuva Ring but over the last several months it had become severe. My moods were out of control. I had anxiety, crying all the time, extreme mood swings. I've had extreme fatigue but just thought it was related to the increase in depression. Last month I went to a psychopharmcologist to have a medication evaluation because I felt the depression meds weren't working anymore. The doctor doubled my dosage! I've had weight gain but just thought I was eating more than usual - no idea the Nuva Ring could have been causing the increase in appetite. I've had night sweats and during the day I'm always freezing no matter where I am. At work I use a sweater and a small blanket for my legs. This is crazy. I just thought my office was too cold (maybe it is). Some bloating but nothing I couldn't live with. I have not had any problems with bleeding or unusual cramping. No vaginal discomfort at all. Sex has been good. No problems with dryness. I found it completely convenient. I just had no idea the problems I was having could be associated to the Nuva Ring. I am so happy I found this site. I was going to start back on tomorrow but I definitely will not.

I am so happy to have found this website. I started taking Yasmin 2 months ago and was only on it for 1 month. I began a round of Prednisone at the same time due to hurting my back. Well, while tapering off of the pred (going into my 3rd week of Yasmin) I had one night of NO SLEEP. In the morning my muscles were so tight and painful I could barely walk. My heart was racing, I was so dehydrated I could barely speak, my vision was blurry, I couldn't form sentences clearly my head was in such a fog and I had lost 5lbs literally overnight ( I am already extremely thin naturally, so this is not a good thing for me) I was skin and bones. My normally thick, shiny hair became dry, thin and brittle and my skin broke out horribly and I had painful diarrhea. This is just the physical symptoms. The mental symptoms were out of control. I was crying all the time, yelling at everyone and just being completely irrational. I truly thought I was dying. My doctor thought maybe I was having withdrawal from the pred. This continued for a week until I started researching about Yasmin. I immediately stopped taking it after reading the side effects people were having as they were the same as mine. Strangely, they were also the same as prednisone withdrawal, the only problem was that I was off the pred and still having symptoms. Over the following 2 weeks, they slowly got better. Then, it all started again for my next cycle just to a much lesser degree since I was off the BCP. This makes me certain that my symptoms were absolutely from the BCP and not the Pred. I am reaching the end of my period today and my weight has gone back up and I am again starting to feel better. I just hope next month will be normal again. The thing that makes me the most angry is that my doctor refuses to believe that any of it had to due with the BCP. I have been on plenty of BCP's and NEVER experienced anything like this. This stuff needs to be pulled from the shelves or doctors need to be more aware of it's potential side effects and quit discounting our intelligence. Thank you everyone for your posts.

I was on Lisinopril for 4 months. I had some coughing, the gag reflex, and a general feeling of malaise. My depression was bad at times and I imagined myself committing suicide more than once. I also began to grind my teeth at night. I have been off of the poison for 8 days and all side effects have subsided except for the teeth grinding. My teeth and jaws ache all the time. I had never experienced that problem before. I too went to the ER in the middle of the night about 2 months ago because I was sure I was having a heart attack or stroke. I finally made an appointment with a therapist 3 weeks ago to deal with the depression. She told me about Lisinopril side effects and I quit taking it. I owe her my life. I feel re-born. I am so happy to be alive!!!!

OMG I am so happy I found this post. I was just telling my co-workers and my friend that for the past 4 days I get so mad at work. I get really annoyed,angry and super bitchy.... which is so not me. I mean everyone is always saying what a sweet girl I am blah blah blah."Well I have felt a total 180 and I have only been on Yasmin for a week! Is it possible for it to kick in so quickly. I mean I get really angry so angry that it had me trying to figure out the root of this "new found evil" side of me lol. But I am going to call my GYN tomorrow and demand a new medication. It's making my life unbearable and hits me worse the minute I step into my office... (granted going to work isn't fun) Now I also notice I have been very sleep. I have been sleeping fine at night but no matter how much sleep I get I am sleepy. Has anyone felt this? I used to use some other BC I think something called lo overal and i was fine, I loved it. Anyway I am very grateful to have read these posts.

My husband went on Lisinopril in Feb 07, his bp went down and was regulated his headaches almost left but then he had sinus surgery in mar or apr. He has now developed muscle twitching and now the "doctors" say he has Motor Neuron Disease.... I refuse to believe after reading everyone's side affects that this 41 year old with no family history of this other than 1/2 siblings with high bp that he has this disease. He has experienced neck stiffness like it is broken (had MRI) no broken bones or slipped disc, he has had the chills, hw has vision blurred issues, heaviness in his legs, left side of his body more prominent than the right, he has crazy dreams and thoughts, he feels like he is dying, he doesn't however have any coughs, he has anxiety which they put him on anti depressant. After reading others comment I researched this med, it was developed by venom in a poisonous Brazilian snake. My husband as a child would get bitten by wasps, fire ants etc.. they would rush him to ER for meds and he used to take shots if stung, swells up like a balloon. So in my theory this med has the snake bite affects and I believe this has caused him to have this neuron disease but I can't prove it. His muscles twitch all the time. I believe this drug has been slowly poisoning him to a eventually paralysis to death. I have begged the doctor to take him off. He has but now he is on Atenolol, which is not much better but has no snake venom or ACE inhibitors. Please people email me. I am desperate we need to band together.

man im only 17 and ive had this awwwwfffuuullll cough twice a year for like 3 years now and it stays for a month. today my doctor gave me advair again...ive had it before in the past but i had forgotton all about it. i only took one dose of it when i got it..and man i just remember why i hated advair so much. i feel like i am on speed. im shaking and twiching and cant relax my body it feels like i just took an illegal drug! my head hurts and i can barely sit still. my dad things im just trippin but im not i kno its that advair. i am so happy that i found this site. lets me kno that im not going crazy. does anyone else get the case of the shakes due to advair?!!?

WOW. I am so happy this site is here. I have been on NR for a little over a year now and have been so moody and mean. I have completly lost my sex drive and gained 12 pounds over the past year. I am only 21..... My dr. told me that i need to switch birth control and try the IUD but i am not getting great reviews about that either. I have learned to start researching my medication before i just say yes, because this is my body and the doctors just arent getting it right.!

I hadn't been on birth control in a while, but getting into a new serious relationship, we both agreed that we should have some extra protection. I have only been on Yasmin for about 3 months. The first month was OK and I felt fine. But the past two months I have been experiencing extreme anxiety, nervousness (grinding my teeth), depression, stomach problems, and I just didn't feel like myself. I felt so low and didn't want to do things. My boyfriend noticed the changes in me too and I was taking a lot of things out on him just because he was there. I also haven't felt very sexual, like my libido totally dropped.

I know you are suppose to wait until you get your period to discontinue taking any type of birth control pill, because you can throw your whole body off. But I stopped taking them today and I can tell you I feel so much better already. No more pills for me! Back to good old condoms!!

I am so happy that I found this website and read that others have been feeling the same way. Now I feel like I am NOT going crazy. I know that not everyone feels these things and it could be good for some people, but it wasn't for me.

Hi Ladies.. I am so happy to see so many postings on this pill. I have been on this pill over 2 1/2 years and didn't think anything was wrong with it until 6 months ago. I stopped getting my periods and at first I thought it was because I was working out 6 days a week but when the next month came around and I didn't get it again I thought it was strange. Now 6 months later I have only had my period once. I talked to my midwife about it and she said it was perfectly normal. I have been on the pill for about 12 years and I always got my period. I also have noticed that after 6 months of working out and eating right I am not losing any weight. The only time I lose a couple pounds is when I am suppose to be having my period and I am taking the sugar pill. I also have been experiencing headaches but chalked it up to my life of working, with two kids and maintaining family, house etc. Recently blood clots have come up with a few of my friends and it just makes me think that this pill has something to do with it. I am not ready to have another child, so I would really like to find another pill to try out. Any suggestions??

I had taken Prednisone two years ago when I had pneumonia that would not go away, and realize now that a lot of the problems I had during my two months of sickness were due to this drug. I do not remember how long I had taken it back then. I could not do any work and what little I attempted, I kept making mistakes that seemed right to me. For example, I had started to address Christmas cards and put all the stamps on the wrong side where the return address goes. When my husband came home, he pointed out what I had done. I had finished a big batch of them and it had never occurred to me that the stamps were on the wrong side. I cried for no reason and had weird mood swings constantly - don't remember how I slept. I was taking so many medications and it was a busy time of year for me that I thought my problems were due to the combination of all. I now know differently, which brings me to today.

I am on my 5th day of a 7 day dose (30mg first 2 days, 20mg thereafter) to relieve inflammation from a persistent cough due to sinusitis that started Dec. 27th. I have numerous symptoms! The worst being the mood swings, confusion & lack of sleep (averaging 3 hours a night). I thought I was going crazy. The side-effects surfaced pretty quickly. I had a rush project due today that I had started last Sunday. I am usually pretty good working under pressure and deadlines - not perfect, but pretty good, and there was enough time to finish all assigned to me. It took me forever to finish simple tasks and I made some mistakes that I never would have. This was a first time working with some colleagues who all must think I am a nut who cannot produce. I had a weird meltdown in front of the team leader and was totally not myself. My husband has been so worried about my erratic behavior that he refuses to let me drive. He dropped me off at an appointment and upon his return home found our front door wide open. I had walked out the door without closing or locking it. Now, granted I have been sick and am under stress, but I have never had the mood swings or lack of focus that I have experienced in the past few days except for the time I had taken the drug earlier. I was prompted to do a search on prednisone when I realized the similarity in symptoms. When I found this site, all the symptoms I had been experiencing and discussing with my husband were right here - I cried twice while watching Top Chef on TV Wednesday. Along with symptoms mentioned, I have a strange feeling in my stomach, numbness and I have a loss of appetite rather than hunger. Anyone else find that? I just looked at the clock and found that it took me over an hour to write this post. Thank God for spell-check!

All the posts are extremely helpful! I really feel for those of you who need to take it for long periods of time. I hope they find alternatives for you soon.

I am so happy I found this site. I've been on the medication for about three weeks now. Last weekend I thought I was having a heart attack in the middle of the night and was scared to death. But I think alot of it was due to acid reflux. And I have the nagging cough as well. I'm on the phone all day at work and can barely get through a call without putting my customer on hold and having a drink of water. I've been having leg cramps as well. I'm going to call the doctor on Monday!

I am so happy I found this site. We thought our 10 year old son had anxity disorder. But when I read all the reports people had wrote I thought there may be hope. I took him off the medication last night I hope it will work. My son was always worried he was going to die, that he could not breathe at night, he had night terrers all the time, he would wake up around 2 a.m. wanting to go see the doctor, he felt like there were things crawling under his skin, he would cry all the time then at a drop of a dime he would be really angry, he also complained of a sore throat, head aches and stomach aches all the time but I thought he was just finding something to complain abou. I cannot beleive I would not beleive him, I feel so terrible. I hope other parents read this before they give their children this medication. I cannot believe they could sell such a product and not list these side side effects. I hope i can have my happy go lucky child back real soon. How long does the medication stay in their system?

You have helped me so much. Just knowing that I am not alone is biggest part. I think you have made a good point that it is all about control. When I have those grim thoughts, I often wonder if I am going to spin out of control. Thus, the panic attacks. I have to remember that I have not lost control before, and know that I would never actually do the things that my brain conjures up. I am still horrified that Yasmin can do this to a person! Anyway, I appreciate your words, because it took a lot for me to write about that. That, in my opinion, has been the worst part of this for me. It felt like hell. That and feeling numb. Looking at my loved ones (and my cat!) and feeling nothing was awful. I am so happy to say that everyday I feel like I am coming back to life and have started feeling again. I will never take true emotions for granted again! But I am so glad that I shared this part of my story, because if it can help someone feel to not feel as alone, I have done the right thing. so this is my story and I would appreciate any comments. I am 21 and have been on Yasmin for a little over one year. I am SO happy I found this site!!!! First off, I had some anxiety issues before I took this pill and I dont think that it has had any affect on them. I do not have panic attacks anymore but I am in general an anxious person which never used to be. I am so angry and hard to please now and I was never like this! I snap at my boyfriend for everything and he has even told me I am a negative person and I have changed. I thought it was due to stress but I can just feel myself changing its awful.
Second, I notice I shed....ALOT. Hair sheds about 50-100 hairs a day but I just see my hair clumping in corners and all over my clothes. I cant tell if this is me being anxious but I grab my hair and I feel like it used to be thicker. I looked at pictures before the pill and it looked so beautiful and shiny now it is dull and flat.
I guess my majors issues are the hair and the awful mood swings and bitterness.

Question: Will this get better if I change pills?

I am so happy to hear that I am not alone! I have been taking Yasmin for about 8 months and stopped taking it one week ago.

For the past 8 months, I have had the following symptoms:

* Sore throat in the morning (feels like I'm getting a cold)
* Extreme fatigue - there are days when I can't get off the couch
* General aches and pains
* Extreme bloating- I have gained 4 pounds since taking it but have been so bloated that I can't wear anything that doesn't have an elastic waste band. I am only 4'11", so these 4 pounds look like 10 on me!
* Extreme hunger
* Cramps when I shouldn't be having them

On a positive note, Yasmin did wonders for my acne. In fact, my dermatologist put me on aldactone, which is chemically similar to the DRSP in Yasmin. I hope to get the same results without the effects of the estrogen.

Here is my question for all of you.....

1. Did any of you experience weight gain/extreme bloating with yasmin?

2. If so, how long did it take until you started to lose this bloated feeling?

I have always been thin and have continued to exercise. I have been watching what I eat carefully, yet feel like I have developed a "pot-belly." I'm very frustrated and would appreciate your input.

Sleeplessness
Depression
Sadness
Feeling Crazy and Insecure
Can't focus on my job, marriage, children

Has anyone experienced numbness in their knees while sleeping?
