I am a 65 year old man in reasonably good health. I had never experienced BP issues until recently, and when I found it was elevated, went to my internist about 2 months ago for that, and a general wellness assessment. After many tests, he determined that excess weight, and the BP should be addressed, so I was prescribed a fluid pill Chlorothalidone 25 mg and lisinopril 10 mg. After a week or so, I noticed a marked effect regarding the taste of food. Things I always ate ceased to appeal to me. Otherwise, I was feeling decent. About 3 weeks ago, I went back in for a checkup, and my BP was not responding to suit him, so he increased the lisinopril dosage to 20mg per day. Within 2 days or so, I began having trouble sleeping, tossing and turning, and having spazzed out dreams to the point of halucinations, and was up and down all hours of the night. More significantly, it felt like my guts were being blasted by a flame thrower, or for a better description, a leprechaun slinging a chain mace around in my insides 24/7. During this process, I have experienced momentary vertigo, and have lost what I feel is 75 percent of my energy. I am not a couch potato, and work 5 days a week. I am sluggish in the morning, and by 1 or 2 in the afternoon, could lay down on my office floor and go sound to sleep. I now have chills and flu-like symptoms off and on throughout the day. I have taken every conceivable antacid, pepto, milk of magnesia(which oddly seems to help) where nothing else does. The bottom line for me is that I feel this drug has transposed a fairly healthy person into a virtual zombie within about 6 weeks. My wife found this site on the internet, and after reading these responses of so many of you, having absorbed your comments, with the exception of the cough and shortness of breath, I am suffering identical effects. I will not be taking this medication again, and also will not take a brush-off from my physician. I have determined, because of these increasingly debilitating side effects, it would be far better to live with high BP or switch to another medication, and and at least drop dead in peace and comfort in a relatively high degree of normalcy, rather that what I have been going through. It has been rather easy for me to be able to tie my symptoms to this medication, given the information I now have on it, because in all my life, I have never experienced what has been happening to me in the last 5 or 6 weeks, described best in my mind as having constant influenza. I have taken my last lisinopril, and will see the internist next week in this regard.

Hello All,
I am so greatful to God that I saw this website. I was prescribed Yasmine two and a half months ago for the reason of acne. I wanted Diane35 since I used that in the past for the same purpose i.e to cure acne and it worked very well but this doctor wanted to put me on yasmine stating it has less side effects. Now the first week of taking yasmine i HAD BAD ANXIETY ATTACKS. I had a feeling it was this pill but I wanted to cure my acne so bad that I continued I had to go on anxiety medicine I was not sure it was yasmine but since I have been taking Yasmine I am suffering from bad depression crying almost every day on stupid things without any reason getting cranky with my husband. My acne has gotten even worse. now I am in the middle of third pack but I just want to stop. Is it okay to stop in the middle.

The first of the nightmare was the cramps, aches and pains in my legs. eventually it spread to almost all over my body. I felt like could not wlk across the drive way without struggling. I am 51 years old and, without exageration, I felt like I was 81. It came on so slowly that I did not relate it to the Lipitor at first. A client of mine was the one to happen to mention one of his family member's experience to Lipitor and that's what clued me in. I stopped it that day. I have listed symtpoms below that I am suffering from. At least we can commisurate and e-mail with others who understand and know we are not making this up.
1.) extreme muscle/joint aches and pains
2.) extreme fatigue (falling asleep almost anywhere) loss of energy
3.) weight gain and bloating, especially in stomach area without any increase in food intake.
4.) urinary incontinance
5.) sweling in left leg and ankle
6.) swelling and pain feet
7.) depression
8.) memory loss
9.) loss of mental accuity
10.) increased oiliness of skin and hair
11.) loss of equilibrium
12.) diarrhea
13.) eyesight deteriorated rapidly
14.) irritability
15.) itching ended pretty soon after I stopped taking the Lipitor.
Most of these symptom come and go but someof them seem like they are here to stay. Is there a class action law suit that might prevent this happening to more innocent, unsuspecting people? Is there a list of things people can do to help the symtpoms? Another friend in need - Rebecca

I am 34 yrs old and new to oral contraceptives. Have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for about a month and a half and have noticed the following symptoms: shortness of breath, sore/tender breasts, vaginal dryness, extremely dry patchy skin (from otherwise having very oily skin), 2 periods in one month, hungry all the time - which has lead to overeating and weight gain, feelings of despair - lots of crying and mood swings, periodic tingling sensations in feet and lower legs.
My first period on the pill was shorter and pain was dulled, but second time the period was longer and had pain every day of my period which is unusual for me.
I think its time to jump off the Loestrin 24 ship...

I took Lisinopril(10mg.) for the first time last week. Within 2 hours my neck started to hurt and stiffen. By the evening it was so stiff I couldn't turn my head and the pain was intense. I decided to not take another pill. The stiffness and pain took 5 days to lessen completely. My MD agreed it was not for me and I now taking a prescribed diuretic. Everyone should read the "Seattle Times" article on the standards for high blood pressure..

I too had chest pains!! That is something that they do no tell you.
This medication definitely needs to be re-evaluated by the FDA, to determine what damage it may do to your heart.
I was already seeing a psychiatrist for Panic disorder so I had valium at home. However, I still ended up in the ER for my chest pains after getting no call back from my dr for two weeks telling her that I was having all of the other side effects ( except the hair loss), tingling in the hands and feet, fatigue, moodiness, different tastes of things, especially colas.
Nevertheless, I was diagnosed at the ER with having a panic attack....DUHHHH, how could I possibly be having a panic attack when I had taken about 2 1/2 10 mg valium to try to get my chest to stop hurting. I explained to the ER dr. that I had started taking the topamax 3 weeks prior...There absolutely needs to be better education of this drug and its terrible side effects!!!

I have a history of stomach problems (H. pylori infections and acid reflux) and was doing great until I started the nuva ring. Since then, I get sick every night- my stomach hurts and i feel nauseous and I just feel cruddy. I don't know if these things are connected- anyone else have stomach pain with the ring? I also tried to skip a period with the ring and my period has been going on for a week now, when it usually lasts about 4 days. grrrrrrr...

I have been taking Lisinopril since Jan 07. Since I started taking the medication I have noticed blurred vision along with floaters. My eyes feel as if they have sand paper in them constantly. My stomach is bloated and hurts. My joints and muscles ache constantly. I have had several episodes of confusion. TIRED!, I am tired every day, having to take daily naps. I sleep 8-10 hours at night and wake up exausted! I feel unmotivated because I am tired most of the time. I also have the constant tickle in my throat along with a cough. I woke up the other night coughing so much I left the room so not to disturb my husband.
I am glad I found this site. I might have continued to attribute these side effects to getting older, not quite over the cold I had 3 weeks ago., eyes are bothering me because I work on the computer all day. I never had these symptoms until I began to use the Lisinopril.

I was given Levaquin (500mg) for 20 days back in 2004 for what the doctor believed was a sinus infection. In fact, I was actually experiencing an eye infection for prolonged contact use. After two days on the Levaquin, I started feeling really tired. My eyes were extremely heavy and I had a difficult time staying awake. I called the doctor right away, as I tend to be very medication sensitive. I told him what I was feeling and asked if it could be a side effect of the meds. He said he never heard of such a thing and to continue on the antibiotics. I wish I had not listened to him. The fatigue in my eyes continued for months afterward. I also began having abnormal bowel movements, which led to a colonoscopy and small bowel follow-through. All tests came back negative, and my doctors shrugged their shoulders in confusion. They said I had IBS and I would have to live with it. My eye fatigue eventually went away, but the bowel issues continued on and off for over a year. Now, the bowel issues are gone, and the fatigue in my eyes and acute insomnia have replaced them. My doctors continue to shrug their shoulders and now insist that I am suffering from depression. D'uh! Of course I'm depressed. Look at what I'm going through. It has been two years now, and I am really hoping for some relief. I'm convinced that due to the bizarre nature of my problems, those 20 pills of Levaquin in 2004 are to blame for the constant issues I deal with daily. Anyone else suffering like this? And if so, please say it gets better. I need it to get better. I would appreciate anyone who would post updates on their conditions. I know this poison can wreak havoc for years, but I hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I have been on the ring for one year and in this past year I have had sudden and unexpected weight loss from a normal 135 down to 122 and I am 5'6". I have also had nausea, trembling in my hands , and most notably a series of panic attacks. Whether in the middle of the night, or on a train, plane or bus, for the first time in my 40 years I am suffering from sudden, frequent and severe panic attacks. Three doctors appointments have sent me home with a clean bill of health. I am seeing a specialist this next week and am considering a link to the ring.

Took Lamictal for about a month and a half for depression, starting June 206. Did help flatten out & stabilze mood. Started with small 25mg dosages and ramped up. By the time I got to 175mg, for some unknown reason, I started to get bad "pins/needles/elctric shock-type" pains in hands & feet, then progressed to arms, legs & trunk areas, with some body twitches and deep, inner aches. Symptoms started in mid August 2006 and still remaining today, mid November 2006. Fearing these symptoms will never cease has me under alot of anxiety. Hard to get to sleep at night. Has made life very difficult to manage. Has anyone else experienced these side effects? Was not taking any other med at the time.

Firstly I am Male, aged 48. Suffer from really bad Hay Fever for years now and the same Doctor has administered Kenalog to me for about 6 years, once a year but twice this year. I am suffering dreadful pains in my ankles and lower back and a different doctor today has suggested it is the onset of Arthritis. After quizzing me more I mentioned having taken Kenalog for several years ( I thought it had no relationship whatsoever my current ailment) she has lectured me NOT to use it again. She suggests that it could be a contributing factor to my "Arthritis"( hope I'm spelling that right) Anyway, now I know! But, trouble is, what to do next summer..I really will suffer without it.

I am a seventeen-year-old and I have been prescribed Omnicef twice for strept throat. The first time, a few months ago, I noticed that I became more aggressive and agitated a lot easier (here I might add that I am normally an oddly happy teenager). This is my fifth day on Omnicef and I am suffering from severe depression, for no apparent reason. I've heard of others experiencing the same, and my aggressiveness that disappeared at the same time as my medication the last time around is back again. I wonder if this is connected to the crankiness described by the parents of the toddlers?

I am 39yrs so i decided to visit my gp. to change my birth control pill (conova) he recommend that i use Yasmin i started the Yasmin in June of this year approximately one month after taking the yasmin i realised i got nervous scared that i would faint i dont want to be around anyone the nervousness was the worst . I decided to revisit my gp. and i told him in detail how i felt, he said i am suffering from panic attack/anxiety attack he recommended lexotan i still had that same feeling when i didnt take the medication i didnt want to get hooked on it ,so i decided to revisit him a week later i told him i noticed this happening since i took the yasmin his reply was no that cannot affect you that way you are under serious stress thhats the cause of your attack. that day i went to 3 different doctors they all had the same to say I did thyroid test and all other blood test they all showed normal I also try a herbalist doctor he told me the same and he gave me other herbal medication for this panic attack. i got no relief so decided to search the internet and learn about panic attack . I was not satisfied so i continued to do further search until i found your site i have learnt alot and i think it is the yasmin causing these attack i had one this morning i took a lexotan it calmed me down but from yesterday i decide to stop the yasmin I also made an appointment with my gyno. so he can recommend some thing for me probably the coil. thank you very much i have learnt alot . may god bless each and everyone of you who have given me hope.

It's been 7 months since I was poisoned by Levaquin. I am suffering every bit as much now as I was months ago. No improvement at all. My entire body feels as if something is in the entire inner system, just racking everything with pain and indescribable feelings, like gripping, weakness, shuddering, etc. Dear God, why do doctors deny that this is happening and that Levaquin is the cause. Why do they get angry and space out your visits for two months and even threaten to drop you because you persist in believing that Levaquin did this? Why?

I am suffering very serious side effects including: slurred speach, loss of muscle mass and strength in right arm and hand, sore right foot, muscle tremors, severe cramps in legs and abdomen. I stopped Liptor 6 weeks ago. Cramps have stopped but little improvement in other conditions.

I have gotten my second Lupron shot out of three this week. I looked up the side effects for Lupron before I started the shots. The main side effect for me, are the constant headaches. I am suffering from them everyday. I have tried over the counter pain meds, but they are not working. I have more bone pain, but I had that off and on before the Lupron shots. It is more acute than before. No weight gain, at this point. The hot flashes and nights sweats are starting to effect me. The Lupron has ease my constant bloating, due to fibroids. I do not need to take fiber pills now. I have felt some of the benefits, but the headaches are killing me.

I've been on it for 3 months. I am suffering, anxiety attacts, sharp pain in bottom of lung (even when I'm breathing well). Sharp pain in middle of back and lower back, extreme fatigue atttacks. Mood swings (extreme depression and euphoria).
Drug was working at first, and I no longer needed to use my Ibuterol inhauler, but now I'm back to using it every day.
I've found rinsing mouth well and brushing teeths and tounge gets rid of the dry mouth symptom.

Hi
I started taking Yamin 3 weeks ago because I have terrible cramps due to having endometriosis. My doctor said to take Yasmin continuously (without taking the placebo) so I don't have a period. I thought I was being a hypercondriac but I am suffering from headaches, nausea, I gag once in awhile and now I have calf pain. After reading these notes from all of you I am wondering is this going to get better once my body gets used to it or will I be feeling worse. Plus I am extremely tired and I was wondering if anybody feels that too. I am at a loss because without something I can't function with all my severe cramps. I am not sure to switch pills or keep going to see if things get better. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Lynn

I was out of the county where I contracted a supposed bacterial infection. The doctor prescribed Levaquin 1500 mg (500 mg x 3) for five days. Within days, I was experiencing the most severe back pain (to the point where it would have been preferable to have been doused in gasoline and lit on fire), both arms went numb, my heart rate skyrocketed to 130 bpm and I began passing out. I seriously thought that I was going to die and here I was in the middle of Africa with no one to help me. I finally got home after a 35 hr flight that has to be the most traumatic experience of my life. Five months later, I am in constant pain with numerous trigger points and extensive connective tissue damage in my back. I can no longer write because my fingers are so destroyed by arthritis-like symptoms. I am suffering from anxiety attacks and depression. I have chest pain and palpitations on a regular basis and now my knee has suddenly developed tendinitis when I have not exercised for 2 weeks. This drug has destroyed my life. I am 27 years old and was healthy before I took this drug and now I have become completely debilitated. This drug should be pulled from the market immediately! I will be pursuing legal recourse for my pain and suffering and I encourage others to do the same.
