I have been taking lipitor for probably 6 years. About 3 years ago, I experienced sciatica in the left leg for at least 9 months. The pain only lasted about 2 minutes but recurred 15-20 times a day. Now for about 2 years, I have had weakness in the left leg. Within the last 5 months or so, it has gotten to the point that I am constantly off-balance and feel as if I am walking like someone who has had a stroke. Others comment on this. It is embarrassing because I stumble and lose my balance like a drunk. Within the last 2 months, I have recurring pain in the right arm and shoulder - it last only about 5 minutes but is extremely painful. The balance problem led me to worry that I had a small stroke but after seeing this website, I am wondering if it is the lipitor. I am going off of it for at least a month and see if the symptoms disappear.

After by-pass heart surgery in 2002, my cardilogist put me on 40mg of zocor.
I was in good health with no physical limitations. I had no heart damage. The restriction of heart arteries were found due to my stress test that was performed each year as a part of my annual Physical. After surgery I was on zocor for three years, during that time I experienced a little tiredness, little weakness, a little muscle aches. some tingling in my right arm and shoulder. I went to my heart doctor Jan. 2006 and he changed me to vytorin (10mg zetia and 40mg zocor). about 6 months all of the about symptoms got worse.
By Jan. 2007, my muscles became so stiff, I could not walk, had balance problems, severe muscle aches and cramps, numbness and tingling in both arms and hands, also stifness and pain in my hands, stiffness and pain in both feet, stifness and pain in my back and weird nerve sensations over my entire body. During Jan. and Feb 2007, I was seen by my family doctor, a neurologist, and a muscle doctor. Thanks to the internet, I found info on zocor and zetia, which is the drug vytorin. Warnings described the same symptoms I am experiencing. I stopped vytorin, I am not taking any statins drugs now. My doctor order a blood test to check for muscle damage, It indicated severe damage, a Creatine level of 770. This level should not be over 200. After being off the drugs for 30 days the creatine level dropped to 645. My condition has improved by 25%. I am walking a little better, but I still having muscle problems, there is improvement. I think there will be a very long recovery. There seems to be some evidence that these Statins affect people of age much more than the young. I am 70 years old. PLEASE PEOPLE, IF YOU ARE TAKING STATINS DRUGS, STOPPED NOW! SLOVE YOUR CHOLESTROL PROBLEMS BY OTHER MEANS. Since I stopped my cholestrol has gone from 157 to 280, but I am not going back taking these drugs. I am trying the natural way now. I have read post after post on many web-sites of people with the same symptoms that were using these drugs. The drug companies and the FDA are responsible for the the degradation of people's health taking these statin drugs.

I have been taking Synthroid since Jan. 2006, am on 100mcg per day and all test results have been 'normal', I have been told to take this medication in the morning an hour before eating anything, if I do this...I have headache all day, I can't eat after an hour because I am so sick at my stomach there's no way. I feel hungry, but feel like if I eat it's coming right back up. Am having serious joint pain in hips, knees, elbows and wrists, my neck hurts really bad as well. I wake up to arms asleep anymore and just feel like I haven't slept in months...am very weak and very tired all of the time.
I have found that if I take my pill at night this gets a little better, but holy cow, don't tell your Dr. your taking it before bed...no, take it of a day. (don't know why this is a major thing?)
Anymore I feel like I am walking around with flu symptoms constantly, and the Synthroid hasn't done anything weight wise with me, because I was so HYPERthyroid before the RAI, I was very thin and looked like a bag of bones, have been waiting and excited about putting on weight...at one point I stopped taking the Synthroid and let myself go HYPO just so I could gain weight, it worked and I got up to about 130 pounds, was very HYPO so they told me critical that I get back on meds...I lost it again because it makes me so sick I can't eat.
NO-ONE can tell me the Synthroid is not the cause of this problem, if I stop taking it I feel WONDERFUL, but my test reults are bad. After a while of course my feet become numb and I end up having some bad hypo symptoms, have tried breaking pills in half....oh Lord no, need it all...
Have been told they are thinking about raising my dosage again anyway, I can't do this, I will break down in the office if they try to raise it. Right now my TSH is fine but my T4 is 'a tad bit' off. I am already an emotional wreck, if they raise my dosage I am going to try and go a different route with this, am on my 3rd Dr. at this point anyway...

I have been taking 70 mg of Fosamax weekly for 3 years or more. At first I noticed numbness at the end of one big toe. Some years later the numbness and tingling has spread to all toes, the whole foot and the ankles. I feel that I am walking like "stiff dolly". Now my feet are cramping regularly. I am also taking Lipitor. Which drug will I blame??
My hair is also falling out and I have mental lethargy and difficulty sleeeping.

I am 27 yrs old. I took OrthoCept for 9 years. Off one year and on Yasmin cuz doc says its the "best".
Started in Jan.
In perfect health, never been sick, hospitalized or have any illnesses, nor taking any additional medications.
Started with mood swings, anxiety and up and down. Blamed it to the 3 month "adjustment period".
9 months later, still "adjusting".
I have experienced alot of the side effects. I have felt as if I were depressed, but have NOTHING in my life to be depressed about. High Anxiety. Very scary panic attacks (never had one ever until this past 6 mths, have had 8) increase in breast size, breast soreness and tenderness when not having period, headaches (never had one before this yr either)NO SEX DRIVE (not even for pocket rocket) cramping, constipation (serious) I tried changing diet, fasting etc, nothing works. Lots of bloating.
I have layed in bed at night with my cell in my hand waiting to call 911 because I was certain I was going to have a heart attack.
Panic attacks have ruined my life. I do not go out. When I have one, my heart pounds and my mind races. I cant think or breathe and just feel like I am a freak.
I have seriously thought I was crazy. I have wondered how long it would take my friends and family to commit me. I am unable to focus on anything and I feel like I am shaking inside. I often feel like I am walking through a fog as if my life were not real, just a dream.
My relationships/friendships have desperately suffered. I have lost many friends because I have lost all interest in pretty much everyone and everything.
I have nothing to be depressed about. But yet I am not living.
Often when I sleep, my limbs fall asleep, this also never happened before in my life.
I quit Yasmin one week ago and entered therapy cuz I was convinced I had a chemical imbalance or an anxiety disorder but after reading this board, I am pretty sure I may be okay.
I have been having really bad headaches though since I went off and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this? I read on a health board it was common but I was wondering if anyone knew how long it lasts? How long before all the Yasmin is out of your body? If you want, post here or email me please at ******
I think I am going to let my body be for awhile. Let my hormones do their own thing and feel normal for awhile. TROJANMAN......

I have been on Lipitor for 5 1/2 years. About 7 weeks ago I got severe pains in both hamstrings. I could hardly walk. I had my G.P take me off the 10 mg. that I was on June 24,2004 because of this website. Started taking 200 mg of COQ10 and I have had some relief, in that there is no longer the shooting pains. I am walking with a cane for the last 2 weeks because I wobble a lot when getting up from a seated position. The G.P. sent me for nephrology after testing for CP or CPK which was elevated at 280,to see if he could understand the problem or hasten the solution. So far urine test shows elevated proteins. Next up 24 hr urine and ultrasound of kidneys. Suspects not Lipitor, but not completely ruled out, but maybe Celebrex or Diovan.

I dont think these are new but I would like others to know before they take this medicine.I took levaquin for a prostate infection for 16 days -was supposed to take it for 30. I had many side effects including poor sleep, vivid dreams, muscle and joint pains, ringing in the ears, dizzines, fatigue, and most of all an overall nasty feeling-everything looked ugly. The medicine seemed to be working so I stuck with it in spite of these side effects. On the 16th day doing nothing more than just normal walking in my house I tore a muscle-ligament in my right calf. Now I am walking with a limp and severe pain and my urologist told me to immediately see an orthopedist as torn tendons are a possible side effect of this medicine.I wish I was told earlier.Take my advice dont take this medicine! You are just going to trade one problem for another.

Fluoroquinolones interfere with thyroid hormones. IMany of us (from another site) have found that we have Hashimoto's, which is that our autoimmune systems are attacking our thyroids. Also, there's a possibility that your adrenals are shot too. Now that I am on Armour (pig thyroid) all of the horrible tendon issues, anxiety, fibromyalgia and chronic-fatigue-like symptoms have abated. I am walking long distances again. Suggest that you all have these tests done: FREE T3, FREE T4, and thyroid antibodies test in addition to the TSH test that they will always do. Also, be aware that your TSH test score should NOT be above 2.0. Your docs will erroneously insist that anything under 5.0 is ok. WRONG. My scores were in the 3's before being floxed and in the 4's after. I also take tiny amounts of Cortef for my adrenal fatigue.
