one year and seven months ago i was given a coarse of laviquin--750 mg--for seven days.after 5 days I was so sick i thought i would die and at times wanted to--I had severe depression, diarea, musle pain a weakness, ancles ,knees, back and shoulders hurt so bad that I had trouble getting out of bed. my heart was raceing at 120 beats per minute and blood pressure was very high. I also had a lot of pain in my butt muscles and could not sleep, then I got to where i could not breathe and had to go to the E R
now it has been over a year and a half and still have trouble walking because of pain in knees and ancles. shoulders are sore all the time and I can not sleep more then a couple of hours at a time. my butt hurts so bad that I can not sit in a recliner for over an hour with out extreame pain.. I changed doctors now tree times and none of them will consider that the laviguin was the cause. the last one did send me to a hospital for a rectal exam but they found no problem. now that I know what caused the problem, the depression is most replaced by anger. this drug should be recalled and the drug companys should be made to pay for our care. I am 67 years old and been in pain now all that time and think I will never be the same again. my advise would be---DON'T TAKE THIS POISON--AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Just started taking lisinopril (2nd dose today, 20 mg) for HBP. I have had HBP for about 15 years. I was taking HCTZ, a diuretic, plus atenelol. That stuff makes you feel miserable, depressed, paranoid along with major constipation and very low potassium blood levels. I changed doctor and he has a completely different approach. So far my only side effect from lisinopril has been slight weakness in my lower jaw and the nagging dry cough. I guess you have to get used to these and other side effects. Anything is better than being depressed. Maybe the side effects will lessen as time goes by. I'm optimistic.

I used the Nuvaring for over a year and experienced no side effects. I am sure that the symptoms that these other women experienced were very scary, but I just wanted other women out there to know that this does not happen to everyone. I also used this site when I changed from the Nuvaring to Loestrin 24, and was scared to death by all the things people had posted on that board. So to women who are thinking about taking Nuvaring, do not be discouraged. I would highly recommend it. But like with any other drug, talk to your doctor to see if Nuvaring is right for you.

i was originally prescribed bendrofluazide for high bp but this caused gout. a locum doctor then changed the prescription to lisinopril. i have been taking it for a couple of years and since then i have had various problems. i had severe itching of my hands and then all over my body. a friend suggested this could have been caused by the pain killers i was taking - paracetamol and codeine - so i changed this to to a different one (paracetamol and dihydrocodeine). but although the itching lessened it still goes on. also i have discomfort in both my big toes (could this still be gout?) when i visit the doc my bp is high they tell me, but when i take it at home it is within the correct limits. i suffer from anxiety anyway so tend to put any symptoms down to this but having found this site i realise that maybe this is wrong and that other people have also had similar problems to those i have encountered.
i am not happy with the big drug companies as so many others of you also feel. i was put on strontium ranelate for osteoporosis but the aspartame in this made me so ill i had to stop taking it. the drug company says it is not going to take this ingredient out despite several people getting in touch with them.
i don't know what to do about the lisinopril as i am worried that if i just stop taking it there may be other problems. i have been on bp drugs for around seven years. i am coming up to my seventieth birthday. any ideas would be welcome please.

I originally went on 10mg of lipitor a day in January,2007, experienced leg pain, muscle ache and weakness,so after 3 weeks went off the drug on my own.In June 2007 after talking to different Dr's I went back on Lipitor,10mg, figuring that I had not really given the drug a chance as sometimes side effects do subside after a while.I saw my Dr on July 3rd & my cholesterol had gone down to 170 in about 3 weeks.I told him about my symptoms, which were the same as before & he told me to let him know if they got worse.By August 30th 2007 I just could not tolerate the pain and achiness all over my body,I was not sleeping well as every time I turned in my bed I woke up from the pain ( We even got a new mattress fguring maybe that was contributing to the joint pain) My joints became swollen & red,I could not lift up my arms, they were so sore and weak,my neck was so stiff that it was hard to drive and have to turn my head,I had a constant headache and what seemed to me like a"fuzzy brain"I am 63 years old and have never experienced anything like this,I am an active woman with a great deal of energy and people who know me could not believe what was happening, instead of scooting ahead of everyone I was barely keeping up.I found myself not wanting to eat as my stomach was constantly bloated & in pain & I was gaining weight too.
I went off Lipitor on September 1st and the withdrawal sypmtoms have been horrendous, I went to see my Dr yesterday & he put me on an anti inflamatory drug ,I have taken 2 dosages & am already feeling an improvement. This web site really helped as I felt I was not alone suffering from the side effects of Lipitor. Many people I have talked to have experienced the same symptoms but were attributing them to aging.

Thank you God! I thought i was loosing my mind....
I have been on the NR for about 6 months now. at first it was great! i didnt have really any problem at all. (I have had issues with Depression in the past and i had been doing better but i found on the pill i had some mood swings so i changed to the NR to try and fix that. BAD CHOICE.) About 2 days before i was supposed to take it out the first time I had horrible cramps and headaches and i thought it was normal. But since then my moods have been INSANE. I am on my "off" week and so far i havent started my period. I am NOT gunna put it back in this month. it just doesnt seem to be worth it. I am terrible to people that i really love and i dont know why. I have gained about 20lbs and im working out more than i ever have. I cry all the time. I get sick all the time. I just called my dr. and set up an appointment. now that i know im not alone, something definitely is gunna change.
Has anyone else completely skipped a period due to the NR? As of today i have skipped and while i dont see how i could be pregnant (only had sex once this month due to my complete lack of wanting too which im realizing now could be contributed to the NR) I am still a little worried.
Thank you so much ladies!

I hated it, I was always tired, retaining water so horribly that if I pushed on my leg a mold of my fingerprint would remain. I had sore breasts and my skin was a bit more oily. Loss of libido as well. I changed to Levora and within a month my legs were back to normal, my chest is no longer sore and my libido is back.

I'm a 36 year old triathlete. I started taking Advair 3-4 years ago. I noticed immedialty that my wheezing stopped. For this reason, I thought the medicane worked well. I also noticed that heavy excersion activities became a little harder. Initially I thought it was allergies. I had less wind. I kept taking Advair because it stolpped the wheezing. 3 months ago I changed my dose from 100 to 250. My lungs started feeling heavier and it was harder for me to breath. I decided to stop taking Advair 3 days ago. I'd have headaches once in a while with Advair but I never noticed any other problems. I've stopped taking Advair for 3 days now. I feel like I can take deep breaths again. I also feel like I'm going through a withdrawal. I've had an intense headache. I'm sure it will go away. The big test will be over the next week. I'll see how I feel when I'm training. I'm not sure if my Asthma is bad enough to take medicane but I'll see. I'll keep Albueteral close by just in case. I'll post again in 1-2 weeks.

The Mirena was inserted in June 2004. All was good until last Summer. I started to put on weight, I went from a size 8 to a size 12. so I exercised even more and reduced my intake of carbs and fat. In fact I changed my diet, more veg and fruit. I have always had a great metabolism, but I have none at all. I thought it was a tyroid problem, but doing some research, where I seem to have the same symptoms that I had with the Depo, it made sense. Thus I am having it removed in August after my honeymoon. Unfortunately this all happened whilst getting married, so not happy. I would rather put up with periods, then be the fat person I have become. My husband had the snip, so birth control is not a worry. I know it is different for each person, we are all different afterall.. Good luck to all

Out of all birth control's this has to be the worst i have tried (apart from regular Coil), since having it fitted on 23/08/06 i have gained many many pounds and after eating i bloat to the extent that i look 8-9 months pregnant, have constant hot flushes, tired to the point were i have to drag myself out of bed, mood swings and loss of libido. After it was inserted i had a light brownish/reddish discharge for 2/3 months, which left in the only way to describe it, a bleach stain on my underwear (has anyone else had this? Sorry for being so graphic!), i am constantly buying new underwear, not that i mind that too much!! My G.P. told me yesterday that he thinks it has nothing to do with the Mirena (i suffer from IBS), he changed my medication and advised that if i felt it necessary to come back for blood tests. My birth control before was Yasmin, i changed this as i gained weight, bloated, had constant mood swings and loss of libido........Why??? I have now come to the conclusion that i have made my contribution to Mankind and maybe it is time for sterilisation!!!

Hey all!!! Those crazy symptoms are the hormones making your body feel like you are pregnant. At least that's what I have been told by my doctor. I was on the patch but OH MY GOODNESS I was soooooo sick!! So I changed to the nuvaring....only been on it for 2 weeks but I am back nauseous again and feeling the heartburn. I will stick this one out but hmmmm never had any problems on the shot...Time to rethink my situation.

I have been taking a 5mg dose of Lisinopril for a while now, maybe a year. I was having problems with HCTZ. In Novemeber I changed several things that I was taking. I bought a vitamin brand that was for weight loss. I started noticing a climb in bp. But I didn't think anything of a relationship. So I went to see the physcian's assistant and he upped the dose to 20mg. The BP problems have increased. But I read the small print on the bottle and found out that the vitamin for weight loss contains caffeine! (as we all know this is bad for BP) I have stopped the vitamin in favor of another that I have read the label on. Still a Problem. Going back to the Doc. for a different med.

I changed jobs and thus switched insurance plans. I had been on diovan for about 2 years with no side effects at all. Now my new insurance will only cover diovan with a pre auth, so I have to try this Lisinopril. I'm on day 4 and I feel horrible. Tired, unmotivated, headache, feels like I'm having a hard time breathing through my nose. This is just really really bad.
and I also need to lose weight, but after reading that some people are actually gaining weight from using it, I'm really scared about that. This really stinks.

I have never taken pills except for mild anti-depressants when I was younger. I am 24 and I took this pill for 6 weeks at which time the Doctor wanted to up the dose from 100mg/day to 200mg/day, until the increase in dosage I have been sleeping more than usual, once I changed to 200mg/day within a couple days I started having progressively worse sleep until I couldn't sleep at all. Also it didn't get rid of my headaches just made them more manageable. I have been off Topamax for 2 months and my sleep was so screwed up during that time, I still haven't gotten back on track and now have to take prescription sleep aids and/or controlled substance benodiazepines. STAY AWAY from this pill!!!!!!!! It is not worth the trouble

Since comming off Dianete for a lower dose pill which the doctor recomonded to me Yasmin. I wish she hasn't, i wrongly was attracted to the possitve side effect as it apparently can induce weight loss, which i needed after being on such a high dose pill for over a year and gaining a stone in weight,
My sex drive has pretty much curled up and died since I changed pill, i changed pill as soon as i got back from holiday and have barely had the urge to make love to my partner since June...and this is unusual for me, i have never had a problem with my sex drive and it's frustrating for both me and my partner.
Just over the last few days I have had a constant headache, and a panging head rush whenever i stand.... at first I thought it was just a migraine but after reading through this site i have quickly booked a doctors appointment tomorrow.
My head is killing me, my brain is foggy as is my eye site.
This pill has also made me incredibly tired, constantly, no matter how much sleep i get i am still always exhausted.
I just hope that these headaches clear when i stop taking the pill quickly, as it's making me very very unhappy and i leave for university in a week.

I feel really embarrassed to have to comment on this but I really need an answer because I am really bothered in the bedroom. I love the weightloss and I am losing hair which I was unaware it was related to the topamax to thanks for that info. I get extremely lubrigated/wet in the vagina (even when I am not aroused). That is not even the worst part I found that when I came there was a strange odor. I changed my diet and everything and it didn't change. I know I don't have an infection because I went to the gyno not long before. Am I alone???

i cannot believe this!! everything is starting to make sense to me now!
i have been on the BC for 5 years, i started with yasmin for a little over a year then i started getting bad migraines. i even put up with it for another few months because i needed the relief i was getting from my cramps!
i changed to ortho-low and loved it till i started to gain weight! for the sake of not having to buy new clothes i stopped taking that, but switched back to yasmin.
i would have loved to just be off the pill alltogether but, again, i needed relief from cramps! and... my mother (who has worked for a gyno. for over 20 years) was completely convinced that this pill was right for me! she pushed me to take it. even my gyno said it was good for me (being that i was only 18) b/c it would help my teenage skin problems.
i have been back on yasmin for over 2 years now and in that amount of time have experienced the following problems (yasmin related? after reading this forum i think it is possible!)
- anxiety (i am on zoloft now)
- severe sinus problems
- pains in the neck
- restless legs at night
- fatigue
- bad heartburn that comes and goes
- one eye can see better than the other!
- headaches
i think the FDA needs to read this forum!!!! i am getting off of this pill IMMEADIATELY. i will update my withdrawl symptoms.

I love the RING. I was on the pill FOREVER then I changed to Seasonal. I hated that because i ALWAYS had my period. Then I switched to the patch. I loved that but hated the tan lines (i know.... very vain). Also, the risks seemed MUCH higher than any other bc (health wise). So, I got on the ring. I love it love it love it! I don't have any breast tenderness before my period. I used to ALWAYS have breast soreness for about a week before my period.
The one drawback i have with the RING is the DISCHARGE!!!! It's pretty gross. I pretty much hate the constant discharge. But.... i fee like it's worth it.... not having to remember to take a pill, no breast tenderness, no severe moodswings.... I think it effects everyone differently. I think if you lead a fairly healthy life style, the side effects will be few to none. but i'm not a doctor. try it yourself to see....

I was on Mevacor for a number of years due to high levels and family hx. I changed doctors (insurance change) and started on Lipitor 20 mg. for a couple years. Muscle pain started but was attributed to 'getting older'. I've tried to exercise rigoriously and diet to lower levels w/o success. Now I'm on 40 mg. and the physical attributes of muscle ache, memory and hearing issues persist. I can see that there are nmany others out there with similar symptoms.....what can we do?

I am so glad to have found this page and learned that I am not the only person going through this. Yasmin is Horrible. The worst part is that I am only now realizing it after more than 3 years. I was such and outgoing happy party girl. Then I changed.. Depressed, anxiety, panic attacks, nervous, insecure, angry, short-tempered, thought I was going crazy, heart palpitations and the list goes on and on. Oh yeah and my sex drive non-existent when I always had a very high libido. I didn't understand what was happening to me and never thought the pill had anything to do with it. I also had beautiful thick hair which is now a few strands of oily limpy hair. I stopped the pill and it's been about two weeks. I'm not sure if it's withdrawal I'm having from what I read from other women but my heart palpitations are horrible, I'm restless, my hands are sweaty, I feel confused and dizzy, nauseous. How long until I detox my body? I just want to go back to the person I was. I went to the Gyno 2 weeks ago and mentioned my low libido and asked if Yasmin could be the reason.. The Answer: No, You need more four play. I didn't believe her and that's when I started researching the internet. I can't believe we have all gone through this and these stupid doctors don't care. If you tell them you have anxiety they give you Zanex. I just want to go back to how I use to be. I will never take birthcontrol pills again.. Yasmin should not be in the market. I've read other posts and I'm hoping my third week of post Yasmin gets better.

Hi Ladies,
I'm on day 17 of my first pack of Yasmin. Thank God my doc gave me 3 months worth of samples because I don't think I want to buy this pill. Anyways, I've been having symptoms similar to most everyone else on here. I get a lot of cramping, back pain, feels like my hips are going out on me, not able to eat, constantly thirsty, extremely dry skin, etc, etc. I started taking my pills before bed. After spending a week and a half with these symptoms, I changed the time of day that I took the pills to the morning. Made me feel worse taking the pills in the morning rather than before bed. Went back to taking them before bed and I'm back to "normal". By "normal" I mean taking Yasmin. I called my OB's office and was advised that they do not want to take me off this pill until I've been on it for 3 months to see if it will help my condition. I have not had a normal cycle ever in my life, and I got pregnant while on the pill all 3 times. I had an ultrasound done last month, and was told that when I have my period, the lining of my uterus is not leaving. I was told that my lining is 17-18 cm in diameter when it should only be 4-15 cm in diameter. My doctor wants to see if this will help me shed the lining of my uterus and have a normal cycle. Needless to say, I have noticed a few "good" benefits from Yamsin, I can't eat as much, therefore I'm losing weight and the hair that I've lost from my last 2 pregnancies is starting to grow back. Ladies, if any of you are Yasmin for the same reasons as I am, let me know if this has helped or worsened your condition. I would be grateful for any advise you may have.
Thanks,
Georgette

I was prescribed to take 30mg/day (Prednisone) to try to reduce the inflammation brought upon by Ulcerative Colitis. I have taken Prednisone before....up to 60mg/day, when I was first diagnosed with UC. I don't really remember all of the side effects I experienced, but I do remember my calves and feet swelling, a bit a of moon face and very little weight gain due to the UC. Does anyone have any suggestions to how/and when I should take the daily dose of Prednisone (early morning, with food...what kind of food)? Also, I would love to hear from anyone with Ulcerative Colitis and how they are coping with the disease. From their diet when in remission to during a flare-up! Thanks...
