Ok I am going to tell you of a different side affect I have had. I am 19 only took this for one day and my dizziness (when not constantly drinking water) is crazy-horrible. I feel like I could fall over. I don't really think I could do to much its just so bad. I just had laparoscopic surgery 5 days ago. They gave this for minor infection just to be safe. (just finding out my surgeon is in trouble for another patients infection going out of control) I am constantly wanting to sleep just to make it go away.

Last night I bought 2 new shirts, was completely disgusted with my stomach and mid section. I had went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago for a cold, and when I was weighed, I had gained about 10 lbs in a month. I am completely disgusted with my stomach. I had a pooch down there since having my baby, but she is 19 mos now and since I had it inserted in April, I feel like a growing marshmellow. Sometimes I cant stand to even have my husband see me change clothes. Im about 195 lbs now...almost my PREGNANCY weight and I hate to get it taken out now since I just had it put in - in April. Also I have NO SEX DRIVE. My husband complains about it constantly and Im so tired all the time, I'm always saying how I could fall asleep. I keep attributing it to having a 19 mo old and working full time, but she sleeps through the nights now and I'm always tired. I've also had several dizzy spells that I can not explain. I'm going to keep reading these comments and it seems like I may have found what my problem is! Thanks for the help. I should have done my research before I went through the pain of having it put in. That would have been smart right?

I'm on 240 mg a day and its no fun at all. I've built up a big tolerance to it, so much that even at this high of a dosage, I could fall asleep in no time at all. I've been at this dose fir like 4 years now. The good thing is that I have lost a lot of weight and managed to keep it off - going from a juniors size 11 to a 3 is the best thing thats happened though. Probably the only good thing. Otherwise, its made me different in many ways. I get to feeling that I just want to be left alone a lot so I can do my own thing, whatever that may be cause it varies. Some days I have a lot of energy, get lots done (cleaning, errands, some exercise classes, stuff like that), and other days I just feel like doing nothing. Mood swings are not uncommon for me, but I have always been that way I guess. Oh well, I guess if it works for you, take it. Its worked for me, but its about time I start to think about getting off of it as its effectiveness has run its course, at least I think it has. And I don't want to try anything else, its simply time to quit the ADD drug scene entirely. But like I said, if it works for you, then go for it. Just watch out cause it can build up on you fast like it did me, and you don't want to be taking as much as I do. (Its prescribed that way for me, BTW. I don't use it illegally).

I went on Toprol 50mg and feel awful. I could fall asleep at any moment,I have a rash that moves from one place to another every few days, I can't focus on my work & I keep forgetting things. Funny someone mentioned hearing loss I too have experienced that & I am only 42. I did not take it over the summer and was able to loose 30 pounds and the doctor put me back on it and all the things listed above started up again plus I gained all the weight back that I had lost. We are running blood tests to make sure this is the cause but my doctor is changing my medication . Glad to hear I am not the only one having these side effects.

For me GEODON has worked miricles! It is the first mood stabilizer that has actually worked. I started with 40 mg twice a day for a week, then 60 mg and on up to 80 mg x2 daily.

The morning geodon seems to make me feel alive. Before Geodon I ALWAYS felt tired with no motivation what so ever. Now I wake up around 7:30 am rather than 3 or 4 pm, I get up and get busy with household chores, running errands ect. ect. I feel energized.

When I take the second pill around 8:30, within an hour I feel sleepy. I go to bed and actually sleep sound all night. Before Geodon I'd be up and down or toss and turn all night long. I wasn't getting much rest and always felt tired. I'd sleep a hour or so then be up for a couple hours before I could fall asleep again. That went on every night all night long. Usually around 5 or 6 am I'd get to sleep then I wouldn't want to get up. I was really bitchy and irritable. I had zero patience and was constantly snapping at people. I knew I was being a bitch but I didn't care...I just wanted to be left alone to drown in my own misery. Geodon changed all that! I feel like a new person. I just hope it lasts. A few years back I took Trazadone, it worked well for me for about 6 months then all at once it stopped working and I went into a deep depression for months.
At one time I was taking 16 different psychotropic drugs for my bi-polar dissorder. What a nightmare that was! I didn't like ther person I was then at all. I was doing what my doctor told me to do without question. Then one day I WOKE UP...I realized that I DID have questions and I wanted answers. I was tired of feeling like a puppet so I decided to take control of my life. Since then I went through 8 different doctors before I found one who was willing to work WITH me, and listen to me instead of treating me like a pill popping lunatic.
I'm bi polar but I'm NOT stupid, it has nothing to do with intelligence!
Back to the point, even tho I am doing well on Geodon I have noticed a few side efects. I've developed a twich in my left eye and I constantly run my tongue over my teeth. both are a little bothersome, especially the tongue thing because it makes my tongue sore! =)~ But I'm hopeing it'll go away and if it don't, I'm willing to live with it. Seems a small price to pay in return for normalcy.

Here's a great place to check for drug interactions if anyone is interested. I just finished running a check for my mother and was suprised by what I found out. Alot of doctors these days are just plain pill pushers. They get kick backs from the big pharmaceutical plants for prescribing their drugs. I don't want to get started on that...it's a huge pet peeve! Ok, here's the link...www.medscape.com

I started out on the HCTZ for two months, but I was experiencing tingling in my left hand. My doctor decided to switch me to the Lisinopril (20 mg. daily) to see if the tingling would stop. Unfortunately, it didn't stop; rather, the tingling is increasing, and now it tingles and feels like rigor mortis setting in, and then it recedes until the next bout. About the cough: mine is very bad, especially when I first wake up. I keep spitting up long "threads" of clear mucus; it wracks my body until I could fall to my knees. Once it stops, I'm okay till the next morning, although I do cough during the day. The only other comment I'd like to make right now is to say that, before I was ever diagnosed with HBP, I was fine; now I'm very tired and sluggish. I've also been entertaining suicidal thoughts lately, so I stay off the roof, just in case. My doctor told me last night to quit taking the Lisinopril for three days, then call her and let her know if any of my side effects had receded or disappeared. That's where I am today. I feel any medicine that makes you sicker than you were to begin with should be removed from the shelves. I'd rather take something that works, with no/little side effects, even if it IS a medicine that's been around a long time.

i was prescribed this drug to help depression/gad/ocd. i chose the drug myself after much research. while i feel much better since taking it, it seems that since my dose was increased to 150 mg that i toss and turn for about 2 hours a night - while i'm asleep. this is what my husband tells me. last night he timed my tossings and it occurred about once every 5 minutes for about 2 hours. i also get somewhat violent and have punched him, but that is rare. i'm going to start experimenting with the time i take my dose, which is at night. rather than take it a couple of hours before bed i'm going to take it right before bedtime and see if it stops.

i also notice that around 2:00 pm i get very drowsy and feel like i could fall asleep at my desk at work. this mostly happens when i eat a heavier than normal lunch.
