I am a 38 year old female on Lisinopril for approx. 2 months on and off. I am in excellent physical shape and ideal weight with a family history of hbp. I immediately noticed negative side effects from this drug. Extreme fatigue and confusion the first day I took this pill. The first month it was in combination with water pill and that was a disaster. I could not stop craving salt. I stopped taking this on my own and went back to the Dr. She then prescribed the Lisinopril w/o the water pill and the salt cravings were not as severe but I was constantly hungry! Yesterday I decided to not take the pill and see how I felt and of course I was NOT tired or having any unusual hunger issues. There was an immediate difference! I also have the dry cough which until now I thought was something I had p/u from one of my children and could not shake. This drug is ridiculous. I have taken meds for bp on and off through 2 pregnancies over a 10 yr. period and the pills are worse than being pregnant as far as exhaustion and cravings!!!! This is very scary and I know hbp is deadly, but there are other meds which do not come with all the negative side effects. I will keep experimenting until I find one that works for me. This pill is headed for the trash!!

I, too, am trying to get off of Lisinopril. I am 49, and 10 lbs over my ideal weight. Went on the drug in December 2008, 2.5 mg a day. Since then, I have been depressed, tired, had a dry cough, sometimes a pounding heart and most recently, I am now losing my hair! And, yes, my bp is normal while on the Lisinopril. I have to say, that while I knew it was making me feel lousy, the hair loss was the last straw of side effects. I went on it at a time of high stress in my life and for now, life is calmer and my bp ranges between 135/80 and 145/90 when I am off it. Thinking of some natural, healthy approaches to lower my bp. Perhaps lose that 10 pounds and get more exercise. It is the worry of a high bp that makes the lisinopril hard to give up. The side effects though tell me it is bad for my body. I appreciate this website and reading about the experiences others are having while on this drug. I am hoping my hair will come back in if I stay off of it. Has anyone else had their hair grow back?

All I can say is that since having it inserted in Oct. 2007 I began rigorous training to lose extra weight for a breast reduction, I found it extremely difficult to lose 1 POUND let alone 20. Went to the gyn who inserted it and she was not sympathetic at all she said women over thirty just have those problems.....What problem? Walking/jogging at least 5 miles three times weekly, drop your caloric intake by more than half AND STILL ABSOLUTELY NO WEIGHT LOSE?? I am at my ideal weight, just the far end of it and seriously after 7 months training not one pound lost. New gyn thought Mirena might be the cause, I had it removed two days ago and I already feel a difference in my energy levels!!

I am a 43 year-old female, and have been on Lipitor for quite sometime now, at least 6 years. My doctor told me to watch for muscle pain as a side effect. After being on it for a year with no muscle pain, I was told my chances of developing a side effect at that point was very slim. About 2 years ago I developed severe foot pain which was diagnosed as plantar fasciitis, I went through PT and was put in a brace. Eventually I stopped the PT, not that the pain was gone, but I didn't feel that it was doing any good. I have not been without pain for the past 2 years. Since I am 15 pounds over what "they" consider my ideal weight, the foot pain has been blamed on that. I now have pain in the sides of both my feet and in the past 2 month its progressed to the the inside of my foot just below my ankle. I get pains which I can only describe as what feels like nerves snapping when I'm standing or walking. It is so much worse when I rest for awhile and then stand up. I feel like my walking days are limited. In addition to the foot pain, about 7 months ago I developed pain in my left hip. The first time I noticed it I thought I had bruised it in some way, but that also has gotten progressively worse. And about a month ago I've developed pain in my left elbow. Libido? What Libido???? I never considered any of these symptoms to be related to Lipitor until my husband recently mentioned that one of his co-workers was taken off Lipitor by his doctor after being on it for years because of joint pain that he developed.
As luck would have it, I only have one pill left--my prescription needs to be refilled, but I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor instead. I hesitate doing so, for the same reason that I've haven't gone to the Doctor about any of it after having had gone through PT---I don't think I'm going to be told anything other than I should lose the extra 15 pounds I'm carrying. But after reading all these postings, I can't help but think my problems are very likely related to the 6 years or so that I have been on Lipitor and I don't want to be on it any longer.

Which there are not!!! In fact, my boobs are bigger, i have lost 5 pounds , i was not over weight at all , and am not under weight now. just fyi, anyway all of the postings are like crazy, all these people complaning o im moody my boobs hurt, SUCK IT UP!!!, everyone responds to medicine deiferently and posting what happened to u is fine, but dont complain, anyway, i just wanted to post this for anyone who is getting freaked out by all of the other information. I am using daily low dose Lupron injections in preparation for an IVF surrogacy. This is my second try as the first embryo failed to thrive. The first cycle, the Lupron clouded my thinking and caused severe aches and pains. This time around, though, I am having more frightening symptoms of heart palipitations and chest pains that keep me from sleeping at night. It's hard to know when a doctor should be seen about these side effects or simply wait them out, as they seems to be common with this med. I am required to take this med, there is no other option, but I want to give a word of advice for those using Lupron for the treatment of ENDOMETRIOSIS- I HAD LESIONS CAUTERIZED WHEN I WAS 23 (6 YEARS AGO) AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD COME BACK INDEFINITELY. THE CONDITION IS CAUSED BY AN EXCESS OF ESTROGEN. THERE IS A SIMPLE,SIDE EFFECT FREE,AND CHEAP WAY TO REMEDY THIS CONDITION. YOU CAN GO TO A HEALTH FOOD STORE AND FOR $16-25 YOU CAN BUY A NATURAL, PLANT DERIVED PROGESTERONE CREAM THAT YOU SIMPLY RUB ON YOUR SKIN. IT WORKS! I PREVIOUSLY HAD 2 MISCARRIAGES BECAUSE I WAS LOW ON THIS IMPORTANT HORMONE. A MEDICAL DOCTOR WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS TREATMENT BECAUSE THEY ARE TRAINED IN ARTIFICIAL MEDICATIONS, NOT NATURAL. GO TO A NATURAPATHIC DOCTOR IF YOU LIKE, OR SIMPLY DO THE RESEARCH YOURSELF, AS I DID. SYMPTOMS OF LOW PROGESTERONE ARE TROUBLE SLEEPING, WEIGHT GAIN, THROID PROBLEMS,LOW LIBIDO, UNABLE TO SUSTAIN PREGNANCY. When I am not preparing for an IVF cycle, I have been using it faithfully beginning the 12th-28th days of my cycle for 6 years. You would not believe all the health problems that hormone imbalance causes. I am now in great health(sans Lupron), ideal weight, have no problems with my thyroiditis (I have not needed meds), have no trouble sleeping(normally), and have not had a single fibromyalgia flare up since (again, before Lupron) and I was able to sustain a pregnancy to have a wonderful son. AGAIN, DO NOT EXPECT YOUR DOCTOR TO INDORSE THIS, MINE DID NOT AND I HAD 2 MISCARRIAGES BEFORE FINALLY TAKING MY HEALTH INTO MY OWN HANDS. GOD IS GOOD!
