PICAPEACH - I'm a little confused...you can have sex with as many guys as you want and you're not a slut if they wear a condom? How dumb are you? Make sure you sign up for some sex ed classes at Harvard...oh, and if you want to start debates over trying to prove how much cooler and smarter you are then everyone, they have other places for that. They're called chat rooms. Not medication discussion boards where people are trying to get help and advice. Seeing how ignorant you are it's my guess you slept your way to the top for that scholarship, its OK though, I am sure you made them all wear condoms.
Have a fabulous day!

I was on Yasmin for 4 months. I HATED IT!!! What is the point of being on birth contraol if you never are able to have sex? I was constantly bleeding after the 1st month. It was as if I had my period for 3 striaght months - every single day. And not just spotting, heavy flow. I was depressed, miserable and in so much pain. I had constant cramps and back pain. I went to the ER 2 times because of this and I was told the 1st time that it was just my body's way of getting used to a different pill. After I was on it for 3 months, I went to the ER a second time because I was in so much pain and bleeding so heavily, that I could not get out of bed. I actually had to wear Depends, pads were not nearly enough! The dr at the ER the 2nd time told me that he has had a ton of cases with girls on Yasmin with the same problem and to stop taking it immediatly. About 3 or 4 days after I stopped taking it, everything was back to normal - Thank God! I was extremely hesitant to try another pill after that, but I decided to give Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo a chance and I love it. No random bleeding, no cramps and my periods are always light. Yasmin should be taken off of the market. I have a bunch of friends who tried it and went through the same problems I did.

This is all very interesting, but it's all anecdotal! Can you PROVE that Singulair is responsible for all this stuff?

What other meds are you all taking? In what doses? Under what conditions? Do you have a family history of ? Are you under stress? Or are at least SOME of you just hypochondriacs who, reading this stuff, say to yourself, "Say, I get headaches -- sure, it's gotta be the Singulair!" C'mon, now -- hair loss?!

I've been taking Singulair for over 10 months, and if I'd been as damaged as you all, I think I'd know it.

Without rigourous medical studies to show what is REALLY going on, you lot are just gossipping.

This site is obviously trolling for a class-action suit.

I personally haven't had any problems, I have lost about 5 pounds and my skin has cleared up.
I think that a lot of the mood swings are in the mind and the weight gain shouldn't be blamed on this pill, just keep the food out of your mouth.

I was given topamax to treat headaches and cyclical mood disorder. I was not given any info about side effects or that, at the time(April of 2006), the drug was not FDA approved for treating mood disorders. I took about 3 25mg tablets a day for 6 weeks and started noticing pain in my chest, stomach, back, and neck, my heart felt irregular as well. Towards the end of the 6 weeks, I felt so bad that at times that I had to crawl to the bathroom at home because my body and heart felt so weak. I weighed 135 pounds before starting the drug and 117 after, lot of weight to lose for me in such a short period of time(my weight very rarely fluctuates at all). I started noticing that when I would eat a large meal, I would then be hungry with an empty stomach an hour later, and about 15-20 minutes after taking my 2nd pill for the day I would feel shooting chest pains and become slightly dizzy, I would take my third pill at home a couple before bed and the symptoms were even worse. I called the on-line nurse late at night a few times and they would say it was just anxiety, my friends and family that knew about all this would also say that I was just worrying too much. I decided to take matters in my own hands and started doing research on the drug. I found all the information I needed, that was not given to me, decided I was experiencing some of the specific side effects people had noticed. I finally decided on my own to stop taking the drug after my doctor told me that all this was because I wasn't taking a high enough dosage, I still can't believe that she said that!!

Now that I've had some time to look back and gather myself a little, I know that I also experienced side effects such as dizziness, loss of taste, decreased sex-drive, Loss of wittiness, feeling like being in slow-motion, slurring speech, heartbeat going from 64bpm sitting on the couch to 128bpm after walking to the bathroom to pea, difficulty breathing, basically felt like crap but was too drugged up to really notice.

It did stop my headaches and stabalized my mood but I think the improvements in mood were primarily due to the fact that I wasn't all there. DEFINETLY NOT WORTH ALL THE SIDE EFFECTS!!!

As soon as I stopped taking this, I felt much better in the head, noticing that I was probably running on about 70% for the past few weeks. Also gained back all the weight very quicky. I felt like myself again and was rejuvanized in my life!! Primarily all the side effects disappeared and I moved on with my life. Unfortunately the chest pains slowed down but did not disappear. I felt like, and still feel like, I had a broken Sternum. I went to the same clinic and had numerous tests done(EKG, blood tests, X-rays), everything came up clear. I have had to tell some of my friends, numerous times in the past year, not to restle with me or hug me too hard because it hurts.

I have not been taking any perscription drugs for the past 14 months because of all of this and now have recently started feeling increased pain in my chest(the chest pains never completely went away) . I do not have health insurance but am going to get this all checked out ASAP, I will post again once I find out what's going on.

All you are Hypochondriacs. If one person says this medicine is causing this, then of course; you all have the same problem "some how." Isn't this weird? It is called the "placebo effect." Normally all the people involved in the testing are given "Lisinopril" (or some other drug), then the placebo group is given a vitamin supplement, the group receving the vitamin supplement is being told they are receving "Lisinopril." Mysteriously?, the "placebo group" is all feeling better and their symptoms are gone. This is due to the fact that all these people in the "placebo group" have interacted with eachother and have told eachother "I feel better" than of course everybody feels better. So WEIRD!! So, my point is this forum is all your peoples "placebo group." If you guys never heard of these side effects from this forum you would have never experinced them. Hypochondriacs all of you are. This is a very good medicine that is helping all of you make up for your peoples lack of self-disipline to control your diet or exercise enough to lower your blood pressure naturally. So be thankful. Lets not complain about false side effects because John has them. I wonder what the side-effects of that cheese burger are that caused high blood pressure. It is funny, I don't see a forum for that. So deal with your so called "side-effects" that are associsted with "Lisinopril" or go on a diet people. Get over it!!

I have had 7 injections of Kenalog, and if I knew of all the problems I would have I would have never agreed to it. I am having them for pain management all recommended by my workmans comp nurse. I never questioned the treatment as we have sought others witn no success. I first was miserable with stomach and menstral cramps I believed brought on by the first series of shots. My "pain doctor" said that it was not from the medicine and to keep taking my medicine. I am also taking Baclofen a muscle relaxer to help with the cramping the injections may cause. I am so miserable with leg cramps, dizziness, tiredness, arm cramps, stomach cramps, feelings of disorientation, and now a never ending period (I am on day 15). Again the doctor denies any of this relating to the injections. I am going to see my family doctor just to rule out anything else, but after reading this site I am sure that I am right assuming it is from the injections. I am 37, so the pain doctor said I could be starting my "change". I am sooo tired of the denial and as I notice my doctor is not the only one in denial. I am glad I started doing research I just hope it is not too late. I could really use some legal help now.

Hello again, I also wanted to let everyone know that I as far as I can remember, I haven't ever noticed any side effects from Yasmin before! I wasn't sure if side effects can suddenly appear like this or if I need to check into other possible problems. Also, this may seem like a ignorant question coming from a 23 year old, but would anyone suggest that my boyfriend and I use an extra form of protection in addition to the Yasmin? I had never thought one was necessary, as the reason people begin taking BCP is to protect themselves from pregnancy and that another form of protection shouldn't be necessary. Anyways, thanks for your time in reading this!

Ignorant people should not respond on this web site. By ignorant people I mean people that have absoluetly no clue or sympathy for what devastating side effects this Kenalog shot causes! The shot caused me to loose 10 pounds of weight my body should not have been able to loose. I was grossly thin. Still I developed indentations where that damn shot was given. My indentations developed in my upper back where there is hardly any fat! People that claim people on this site are crazy for sharing their horrifying stories, should find their own site of ignorant people to talk to!

Well, would be nice to hear, WHO is writing such here in this forum. But it surely can't be someone who read the whole page through with hundreds of similar stories of YASMIN users! And surely not someone who was in this, too! If you never experienced such a nightmare before and just whilst or after taking Yasmin, well, how many other reasons do you expect to be there for all this???

It surely may not be a fault to perhaps see someone to talk to about all this. Maybe it would help, maybe not. Everyone has to try and decide by him-/herself. For some it even might help to take an antidepressant for a while, just to get over the worst months. But it's so clear to me, that we're all victims of that "wonder drug" Yasmin after reading each and every post here for about 2 years now!!

But such posts as the above only make people like Kim feel worse, I'm pretty sure, because I was the same 1,5 years ago. And very miraculous: Without going to a therapist, psychiatrist or taking any other medications, just waiting and waiting and hoping I finally got better and better by myself over the months.

And there is still someone out there telling such stuff out there "it might not be Yasmin"?????? Dear, I'm getting angry about such naive words. Mostly sounds as if even one of those ignorant docs, we all had visited may have written it???

Murph70: Sorry, I don't really know what that "hcg" is for? Is it a hormonal thing or something else??

To that poster who mentioned the two colds in between only a few weeks and sore throat and so on: I know that I'm repeating myself, but please GET YOUR IRON LEVELS CHECKED!! And not only the normal bloodwork, but the "Ferritin" (sorry, don't know what's it called in English). ALL of your symptoms (Soar throat, Chest tightness/ congestion, Fatigue, splitting/breaking nails, dry skin, Feeling down and depressed) sound like and iron deficiency!! If you won't believe me, please check it by yourself over google!!!

Best wishes to you all!! Hang in there!!! You're already halfway and there's really a light at the end of the tunnel!!

hi murph 70,
not sure if this site will help you work out your results,i looked my tsh level up on here.
www.pinelandpress.com/faq/hormonelevels
you could give it a look. i am also having problems with my cycle. i have started to ovulate again (thank goodness!) my periods are still coming between 33 - 38 days instead of my old pre yasmin cycle that was 28 days on the dot. i have some periods that are really heavy and some that are so light they are more like spotting. i suffer pms (with mild anxiety) about 12 days before my period starts until 2 days after bleeding starts. i get an outbreak of acne about 10 days before my period and savage backache just before my period too! all are symptoms of pms,i never had any of these symptoms before i went on yasmin except for the odd monthly spot on my chin! i really wish i had not messed with my perfectly normal cycle but i was totally ignorant to the fact that any of these awful things could happen just from taking a pill,i was told it would improve my life not wreck it!
sorry for the rant murph 70 but i find once i start on the subject i can't stop! hope the site i suggested is of some help.

silke.
my heart goes out to you...... remember you are strong and you will beat this! please feel better soon!

I have actually not started my Lupron injections yet. I am scheduled to start tomorrow and I wanted to do a little more research before I start and after reading some of these posts, quite frankly I am freaking out. I have had a total hysterectomy due to endometriosis, adhesions, cysts and several other conditions. Now I am thinking "why do I need these injections?" I don't want to have these side effects. I have felt better in the last 6 weeks (since my last surgery) than I have in 4 years. I am scared now if I start these injections I am going to feel like crap again and I feel like my family just got me back. If I no longer have any female organs, why would I be put on Lupron? My doctor says to prevent anymore endo from forming, but doesn't endo form only if you are producing hormones? I feel so ignorant about all this and it is my body. How stupid am I for not knowing all this?

you are quite right, my backache is also by far the least bothersome of my post yasmin symptoms! i just wondered how many people suffered the same effect,it's unbeleivable how many aspects of your body can be effected by your hormones,i must admit i was completely ignorant or their effects before my yasmin experience prompted me to look into it. knowing what i do now i will never mess with my hormones artificially again!

I'm 15 and I've been using it for most of my life... I don't notice any side effects though. Then again, I'm very ignorant and I notice nothing! Or maybe I've been using it for so long that it's impossible to tell. Who knows. I've been a pretty chubby kid, maybe that's due to Advair. (Lol) But I really don't know. All I know is, an overdose makes you kooky. I strongly advise you to try to prevent that as much as possible. You should be fine!

ive had so many side effects theres just too many too name. im in pain constantly because of this poison. i took it for 8 days and for the last month my life has been hell. im only 19 years old but i feel like im 80. this drug should only be prescribed in life or death situations like severe pneumonia. but not for sinus infections. my muscles, joints , tendons are in constant pain. my skin has been blistered due to an extreme sunburn. im going to doctors continously trying to find out how i can heal my ravaged body. my life has been destroyed. DO NOT TAKE THIS CRAP, UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO GAMBLE YOUR LIFE.my body has been destroyed like thousands of others, because of ignorant doctors and drug companies who only care about money and not human suffering. DO NOT TAKE THIS POISON!!!! I WOULD RATHER DIE THAN TAKE THIS CRAP AGAIN.

Responding to the latest poster.

No, no improvement for me in 6 months.

So sorry to have to say that. For you and I and the rest of us.

I just came back from a rheumotologist who has done many, many tests on me. I shared with him my belief that this all started within 1 or 2 days of taking only one medicine ( and after not taking "any" other medicine at all for 1 or more years before this ) and that is Levaquin.

Immediately the subjcect of psychiatric help was brought up by him and his feeling that it is very easy to read other peoples emotional responses such are posted on this board into your own situation.

He did give me the time and chance to at least present the idea to him regarding the "fact" that all of this began shortly after I started taking my 6 day dose of Levaquin. When I told him about the thousands of "exactly" matching experiences by you other posters, he shifted in his seat and stopped me and told me what I just recounted in the previous paragraph.

After repeating individually all the medical tests that have come back negative on me and repeating his hope that I get back on anti-depressants, he then shook my hand with a look of pity on his face and said something like, I hope that my allowing you to unload your concerns on me helped.

I am 54. I am not so ignorant that I don't understand and appreciate the importance of relying on well tested, scientifically solid and proven facts when it comes to making decisions about almost everything. But there is something wrong here. I can sense it. And yet no doctor will give "any' weight to what you and I and others are honestly pouring out here on these boards.

The "fact" that thousands of people are saying the same thing after almost all of them report only one thing in common ( the taking of Levaquin and or Cipro and usually just this one medicine alone ) is simply emotionally unstable nonsense motivated
by people who are suffering from something other than Levaquin or Cipro side effects and proabably mental in nature.
And their physical testing results are thier God of logic here.
If 500,000 people were reporting what we are reporting, and they didn't have the 30 different clinical test results to back this up they would probably say this was some form of mass hysteria.

It is a very sad and actually frightening statement about the almost crazy mind closing mentality of our medical community and their educational conditioning.

Of course there aren't many studies and clinical test results of people who have had such serious side effects like ours from Levaquin and Cipro. These powerful antibitoics haven't been around for decades and there is proabably 100,000 times more money behind trying to prove these drugs work and are fine and "not" that dangerous, than the monetary amounts and motivations behind trying to show that they are indeed much more danagerous and damaging than anyone will admit.

My depression and anxiety took off "after" I started taking Levaquin, not before! My leg weakness and soreness and other limb pain is "not" coming from my depression. And all these other unprecedented and extreme cases of insomnia, itching arms and scalp, weird wincing pains, stomach problems, shuddering, tremors, weird pulse rates, incredibly heightened sensitivity to cold and then immediate turns to feeling too hot, uncoordinatided gate and a few other carzy symprtoms started only after 1 or 2 days of a 6 days dose of Levaquin for me. And I have never, ever experienced anything like this before in my life ( with the exception of a few panic attacks, like who hasn't had those ) until I started taking this Levaquin.

I have written to so many major media outlets asking them to start looking into this situation of ours and so many like us. I will "never" just cave and accept my devastatingly changed life by simply accepting every doctors explanation that I am just a loon because their test results aren't shwoing them any results that would explain this.
WRITE...write to everyone you can about this. There is massive money behind trying to make you believe there is nothing wrong here. Stand up and be courageous here. You may have to take anti-depressants in the search for the truth and cure...but what other choice do we all have? JB

To redaurora:
I am completely angered by your story!! I can't believe that an OBGYN would be so ignorant to think Yasmin didn't play a role in your mild stroke when it's one of the risks listed RIGHT ON THE PACKAGE. Honestly, it seems like we all have to do our own research on these things... it's the only way we can get trusted information (which I have thankfully gained from all the women on this site).
I did some research and found that doctors claim their number one source for information on side effects are the pharmaceutical companies themselves (like they are going to admit there's a problem). Also, I have a friend involved in marketing pharmaceuticals and you wouldn't believe what kind of perks docs get from drug reps! (conflict of interest??)
It really makes you wonder....good luck with your recovery from yasmin. I am 4 months off Yasmin as well and still suffering...

all women need to be careful with hormone like this. i was on yasmin, and it was horrible. my autoimmune system crashed, and now i have autoimmune thyroiditis. hypothyroidism.
this is a condition i will live with for the rest of my life.
i was a size zero before i went on the pill, now i am between a four and six. that may not seem like much, but within six month, i was almost a size eight.
after two years off i havent made much progress....
i wish my doctors hadnt treated me like an ignorant idiot when i asked them if the pill could affect someone in this way.....

I would advise any woman to not take yasmin. I am in college and getting my work done has been a challenge. I have struggled trying to study and keep my grades up in the midst of all this pain. This birth control pill from hell almost ruined my life. I began taking this pill back in November. By December, I was rushed to the emergency room with chest pain so bad I thought I was going to die. I was given a steroid, and it went away....for a while. Meanwhile I started haveing dizzy spells so bad that I was scared to drive. I became very emotional and often wondered why I could not stop thinking about certain things. It was like I could not control my own mind!!!! This was the anxiety kicking in. Later, I began to have panic attacks, but it wasn't until this month that I knew what they were. Life for me had become hell. Things that used to make me happy did not anymore, and I could feel on top of the world one minute and like hell the next. The reason it took me so long to link these things to yasmin is because there were so many factors such as college, etc. that I thought could take a toll on me. I was ignorant to the fact that bcp could do this to me...until now. Now, I will never take another bcp in my life! It's not for me. I can't speak for all women, but I personally have thought I was going insane or losing my mind. Even when I had no physical pain, I still felt sick on Yasmin. Since december, I have been to the doctor more than 10 times, mostly trying to find the source of my severe chest pain and heartburn. I have had an echocardiogram, EKG, Chest CT Scan, Upper GI endosopy, blood drawn, and two chest x-rays. Every doctor tells me I am perfectly healthy, even though I feel like death is around the corner. From my first doctor's visit in december, I asked if Yasmin could cause my pain, and I was convinced by every doctor since then, appox 6 doctor, that Yasmin could not be the source of my issues. Three doctors have tried to put me on anti-depressants such as Prozac, paxil, and zoloft, but after reading the horrors of these drugs I decided not to. You cannot solve a problem with a problem. If you find yourself on an antidepressant, stop the birthcontrol, give it three or four months and see what happens. Many of the anti-depressants have side effects similar to the ones we are complaining of. Don't let a doctor convince you that you're crazy if you know in your heart of hearts that you are not. I have been off of Yasmin for three days now in addition to seven days of the white pill, and I have began to notice that not only do I have chest pains, but I have random aches and pains all over my body. They are very sharp and move quickly. Sometimes they tingle. Mentally, I feel so much better. My life is mine again. Now I just have to get rid of the physical symptoms. So far women have had strokes, blood clots, parts of their lung removed, gallbladder removed, and contemplated suicide. What will it take for us to see that man-made hormones don't mix well with most women's bodies. I, for one, am ready to be free. Before Yasmin, I was stressed, but I am now a different person. I can't wait to get back to normal. Don't listen to doctors if it doesn't coincide with your heart. Also, if you are taking this just for acne, look in the mirror, I am sure there is a beautiful face there. Don't go through all this hell on the inside just to look good on the outside. I am taking my life back one day at a time, and I hope you do too. To decrease my anxiety I have drastically cut my sugar intake and my caffeine intake as well, this may help you. Also, exercising regularly will help you destress when anxiety/depression seems to set in. A friend of mine also recommended that I not eat over-processed foods. She said that simpler foods are easier on your digestive system, and they don't have that draining effect on you. So far I have lost approx 5 months of my life. Good Luck ladies.

I had only taken this monster for three days when my head felt like it was going to burst, pressure in my head was so bad I couldnt think. I am a cardiac nurse with high blood pressure and an irregular heart rate. I took my blood pressure which is ususally 120/80 and what do you know it was 230/122 it was the paxil making me have high blood pressure. I have atrial fibrillation so a rapid heartbeat or higher blood pressure is definitely a bad bad thing..I called doc and told him how my pressure went up so high and he said go on and increase to the 25 mg from the 12.5mg i ws currently on. I told him I was not taking any more Paxil cause it was not goingg to help with depression, it was going to give me a stroke. He said Paxil doesnt have any affect on heart or blood pressure, I told him he better study up on his drugs because they do cause highblood pressure and irregular heart rate in some patients. He told me he could not be my doctor anylonger as i was not compliant with the treatment...lol who is he kidding I dont want a doctor so ignorant.....nita

I was prescribed Levaquin (500mg x 10 days) for bronchitis and ear infection. I'd already taken heavy regimen of Augmentin a few weeks prior, but my symptoms only abated temporarily and then returned 'full force'. My case is a little different from the typical poster, as I was not ignorant of the possible nasty s/e of this drug. In fact, when the Levoquan was first prescribed for me, I read this message board (among others) and was scared enough by what I read that didn't start this medication right away. I went back to my MD to discuss my concerns; he acknowledged that some people do experience some bad side effects from this drug but indicated that these effects tend be pretty rare and didn't think I would have a problem - given my age (32) and otherwise good health.

After waiting a few days and debating whether to try this medicine, my upper respiratory infection worsened and my ear pain became so tormenting that I finally decided it was worth the risk to at least try Levaquin...hoping I'd be one of the lucky one who experienced few, if any, side effects.

After taking the first pill yesterday, everything seemed fine for several hours. In fact, I almost immediately noticed improvement of my URI and ear ache. However, last night before bed I noticed that both of my knees felt swollen and walking felt uncomfortable. I also noticed an audible "clicking" sound in my knee joint when using stairs. Today, I called my MD to report my symptoms. My doctors nurse called me back and suggested I not taking any more doese until she was able to discuss this matter with the doctore (who was out of the office but due to return tomorrow). By the time the nurse gave this advise, I'd already taken the second dose of Levaquil earlier in the day. Tonight, my knee pain (especially right) is much worse and it hurts to get up and walk around. I'm starting to feel like an old man. I've never had any joint problems or tendonitis prior to taking this medication. Tomorrow I intend to ask my doctor for advice. I don't plan on taking any more of this medication. I do fee a little conflicted though, because now after taking the second dose of Levaquin, my upper respiratory infection seems almost gone and my ears have completely stopped aching.

If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated. Should I expect that my knee pain will resolve in a few days after stopping this med? Again, I'm a health 32 year old male, and hope that this drug hasn't done anything irreperable (sp?). Thanks for listening.
