They think that I have either crohns or ulcerative colitis. I have tried antibiotics, lialda, mesalamine enemas, with no improvement. After another colonoscopy they put me on prednisone at 40mgs, 30, 20, 10, then 5 decreasing weekly. Well the first week was okay. I had some of the side affects, insomnia, extreme hunger, and crazy. I could deal with that. But then when I decreased down to 30mg, my body flipped. I awoke from the middle of the night with burning pain in the knees. So bad I took 4 ibuprofen and threw myself in the tub with epsom salt. I thought okay that was weird because I have never had a joint pain in my life. I saw the gastroenterologist that day bc I was still having abdominal pain. He totally blew off the knee pain and said he had no idea what that was. I thought okay maybe it will go away. A few days went by and nothing. 3 days later and I awoke one morning crying in pain because of my legs. I called the on call doctor who also said he had no idea and go to the er. So I went crying hysterically for 4 hours. Even after 3 rounds of dilaudid I was still in pain. They suggested a Rheumatologist. So I went to one a week later who said I was going through steroid withdrawals. And there is nothing we can do but treat the symptoms of pain. I am now down to 10mgs have been out of work for 2 weeks and am absolutely miserable with severe leg pain, muscle weakness and fatigue. He also adjusted the drop down increments to 5 instead of 10. Anyway I will never take this drug again and I think they rushed to this one. Just wanted to share. I am glad I found this website because I went from a fully functioning physically fit 28 year old to a crippled crying crazy person. I think I was scaring my husband, honestly, until we both read some of your postings which were similar.

I am a 72 yrs old female. Put on Lisinopril-HCTZ 10-12.5mg 2 yrs. ago. Took Cozaar until drug provider (AARP) wouldn't pay for and told my doc to use Lisinopril. For a while I was ok...then the trouble started. Nausea, dizziness, headaches and swelling of legs and feet. All slow to happen. Then shortness of breath, cough and itching. Leg cramps got me up pacing and in agony several time nightly. Had a creepy feeling in the back of my neck, joint aches, tiredness, stomach PAIN, hot tingles in feet and toes late in the day. Slight weight gain, a runny nose and sneezing in the AM.. Hot one minute, cold the next. At some point I realized I had a feeling of ill-health, a def. loss of my usual feeling of well-being. I was edge, nervous and finally got depressed enough to call a psychologist. That's when I found this web site. Therapist told me to tell my doc and maybe get another BP med. instead of L. Ten days ago I stopped taking it and went back on the Cozaar...I will pay for it myself. I just want to feel good again. The mental anguish this drug has produced shouldn't happen to anyone. Also, I shouldn't have to find a web site that tells me I'm taking poison either. Last night I slept straight thru the night w/o awaking. First time in God knows when. Still some nausea but I can tell the effects of Lisinopril and lessening. Take hope all u people who have posted here...I think it will get better for you now that u don't take that snake juice anymore. I think it's good that we all stopped it before we started slithering through the grass of our front lawns. This too shall pass. Thanks for posting here for me so that I could finally feel good again. I owe you a huge debt for my sanity.

just another update on my other 2 postings. Things have really hotted up here, lets just say the doctors surgery will get a nasty surprise in the post!! I urge anyone who has been conned into taking this drug to make a stand, sooner or later the medical community is going to have to listen. Websites like this are a godsend, but....POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!! Give them what for, they can't brush this under the carpet for much longer and they have no right to make anyone take this drug. My doctor behaved as if nothing had happened, I nearly pegged it and they treated me like a nutcase! The most annoying thing is that I already have Crohn's Disease so I should never have been put on it, but they completely disregarded that fact, something they have been aware of for many years...NO EXCUSE at all. There is a definate cover up, have you seen the news this week??? More people are to be started on simvastatin because the government wants to save money on heart operations!!! They are either incredibly stupid (no surprises there), or have been completety sucked into the statin hype. There is going to be a massive strain on the NHS because of all the other health problems this drug causes, I saw 3 different specialists because of my sudden ill health, do they really think it will save them money??? Any one from the Government reading this?? get your bloody finger out and do something! Apart from not saving money, what cost to all that have been put on it??? what about their health? and by the way, I am the patient but I HAD to ask the doctor for a test for muscle wastage even though he knew this had been occurring, non admition of guilt then? National Health? NO National Joke and we are on the recieving end. I am not a lab monkey and don't want to be a test subject for these poxy drug companies and neither should anyone else, get RID of these awful drugs!

Dear Silke,
That must have been very frightening for you! I do not know much about seizures. There appears to be many different kinds-- from "petit mal seizures" where the person 'tunes out in a daze' for a few minutes, to falling on the floor, to "grand mal" or "tonic clonic seizures" like I had where you fall unconscious, convulse, eyes roll into head, muscles contract, jaw clamps down on tongue. I was unsconscious for 15 minutes after the seizure and even after I reached the hospital I was groggy, confused, uncertain what was happening to me, etc. I didn't know who I was. In my confusion I assumed I was dying.
Yasmin is REALLY not worth all that! Silke is right-- there is no point 'adjusting' to this drug.

Good luck to every one of you! I'd get off of it while you have some semblance of health. If you later discover that your side effects were caused by something else you can always go back on it. I truly regret I ever tried it. The upside: just look how Yasmin is uniting the world in side-effects and ill health. :)

geeDub here....giving you all an update since quitting Lipitor a month ago.

To refresh....I'm a 52 yr old male. I had four stents put in following a massive heart attack 5 months ago.....no warning...two in the Lower Anterior Descending and two in the Right Coronary Artery. Both shut down 100%. I flat lined twice on the operating table during the angioplasy/stent procedure. I was on a heart pump for a day and 1/2.

LDLs were 185...HDLs were a LOUSY 25. I've gotten my LDLs down to 113 and HDLs up to 31 (target HDLs is 50 at least). They're not sure if it was a "plaque eruption" that sent clots to the sites ....or if there was a low grade infection in my blood stream that clotted me up. Either way, they fixed me up very well. I literally owe my life to extremely fast acting Fire Dept/EMT guys and Virginia Mason Cardiologist...Dr. Wayne S. Hwang.

Although I appreciate the value of what the Lipitor is meant to do...I found after I'd been off of the statin for a month on my last blood work just the other day my numbers were still looking good due to WAY better eating habits and walking three miles per day now.

Lipitor had my muscles and joints hurting like crazy for over three months. I also was very dizzy at times. My memory was going cookoo....and I was twitching in various places constantly. Not to mention....I began to have extremely weak wrists, thumb gripping, arm strength and leg strength, and an overall feeling of ill health due to lack of sleep caused by amnesia that was developed while on the Lipitor.

I'm about 90% back at this stage. I'm still in hope that I quit just in the nick of time.....for me. I know that some have had success with the statins. I, personally feel they are of the DEVIL! LOL.

Good luck to anyone else considering quitting this stuff.

I have been taking Levoxyl for approximately 6 weeks and am tempted to stop. I have a continuous feeling of nausea, pains in chest and back, and numbness/tingling of hands and feet. In short, I have a general feeling of ill health!
