I am currently on Loestrin 24, and have been for four months. The first month, I experienced breakthrough bleeding after two weeks, then it went away a couple days later and I had a very, very light period. Then, The second month, everything went well and I had a normal period. In the third month, I experienced a light period, again. Then, in the fourth month, i experienced the weirdest things yet. Now, keep in mind I was stressed out from moving, but I had a full-fledged period in the second week of my pills. Then, things were off and on because I kept on taking it late, or forgetting until the next morning, for three days. Then, because of this, I had a light, ovulation period again, like not even a period at all. Finally, when I did get to my brown pills, I did not even have a period, except for some spotting (again) on the last brown pill. i still have it now, although I haven't taken the first white pill of the next month yet. I am really quite aggravated, and worried that it isn't working and will not do it's job at preventing pregnancy. I have also been experiencing sharp headaches since taking the pill, loss in appetite for sex, moodiness, and bitchiness the day before I get my period, and most recently, for the past two nights, I have not been able to sleep.

I have been on this for about 5 months. Had breakthrough bleeding here and there and was told it would be okay. One month I had my period so heavy I was bleeding in clots. I was told put my feet up for the weekend. I take it every day at the same time and got my period last Sunday.....not supposed to happen until Wed. ....it is now a week plus one day and I STILL have it...I have the most horrific cramps....and I am middle aged..not some sixteen year old. I don't know what to do, but am thinking of calling again to get off it. I get the feeling the nurses at the dr. office think I'm crazy....and it will work itself out....well in the meantime I'm in agony!

I am 31 yrs. old and have had 2 children. I had the mirena inserted in late August. Since then, I have had light spotting EVERY day and periods about once a week that last for a few hours. It is so annoying. I am a runner and I can't stand the inconsistency and cramping all the time. I also have had severe acne - which I have never experienced before. Until tonight, I thought it was just a mid-life crisis of acne... but now that I have read all your stories, I am convinced that I too, like all of you, am calling tomorrow to get this taken out.
Thank you all for your stories - they have helped me tremendously.

I am still experiencing hot flushes even though I am post menopausal. I reckon it could be down to the Lisinopril pills. My dose has been doubled to 20mg from 10mg. Could this be the case? Has anyone else had these symptoms?

I googled 'vomiting', mood swings' and 'fatigue' and this forum was the third result and since I'm currently on Yasmin, I figured it must be related to what I'm experiencing, and I was right. The first month that I started Yasmin (December 2006), there were little or no side effects, only minor nausea and headaches. I got married in January 2007 and the side effects started to intensify but I attributed them to other things like stress and nerves. I get frequent headaches, some minor, some major and would vomit almost every month right before my period. My husband has also noticed and commented on my constant change of mood throughout the six months that we have been married and that I appear depressed at times. He says that I have become a different person. This inconsistency has often led to arguments that I cannot seem to find the root of until now. My sex drive is also much like a yo-yo nowadays, I simply feel disinterested most times even though we're both in our prime and it is not helping with my marriage. Therefore, I have made the decision to stop taking Yasmin. I might opt for a different pill or just stop altogether. I am 22.

OMG!
It's hard to admit this, but I thought the symptoms described here (forgetfulness, fog, inconsistency) were being HELPED by the drug. I gave up coffee and most caffeine as I got older, also.
Once upon a time I was extremely anxious- I took Ritalin for ADHD, it became too much, and tried some things before landing on WB about 10 years ago. I took it during my pregnancy (perfect child, BTW- so smart and beautiful, not just to his mama) after trying to go off. i just found out I have thyroid disease, and I suspect it's played a huge role in the lethargy and spaciness.
SO... I called my doc to go off. The key for me is getting enough rest and exercising, along with meditation to stay grounded. I will check back to let you know how it goes.
I do have to say- man-made drugs are the invention of Western medicine, and while they have no doubt saved lives, there are other cultures that use far more natural remedies that have been successful for centuries. Do your research- don't put your faith in one doctor or philosophy. Drive your own good health!
