I was prescribed Doxycycline by the Student Health Center at my college for alleged Bronchitis. I've been taking 100mg twice daily, and I definitely noticed the intense nausea immediately. I've always had a strong stomach, so I was a bit surprised by how I reacted to it. Luckily no vomiting. But within 2 days, I noticed that my vaginal area was incredibly irritated, itchy, and red. I thought it was just random irritation, but it has persisted for three days, and I finally realized it wasn't a temporary thing. I've never had a yeast infection before, so I spent an afternoon researching them, and was terrified that it was a symptom of an STD (even though I'm well educated on the subject).
In my research, I somehow stumbled upon the name of this drug, and immediately searched for further side effects (since my doctor only told me to take water and food with it, avoid sunlight, and not to lie down within 1/2 an hour of taking it). What do you know, but yay yeast infections.
Basically, I'm furious with my practitioner for not warning me about all of the things I've read on this site. I've stopped taking the medicine and have no problem with dealing with a cough if it means the yeast infection goes away. I'm never taking this drug again.

I had been on lisinopril for 3 yrs until a couple of weeks ago. I was taking 10mg in addition to 25mg atenolol(which I have been on for 10yrs). Although I did not notice any serious side effects when I first started on it, it ended up seriously affecting my quality of life. My energy level, which has always been very high, was gradually reduced over the course of the last 3 yrs to a level so low that it was exhausting just to get through the day. I had undergone extensive lab workups to try to figure out what was wrong. I would also have episodes of severe muscle weakness and aches that kept me confined to bed. I was tested for every disease known to man. All came back negative. On top of this, for the first time in my life, I was becoming very depressed and unable to cope with the least little thing to the point where my family became concerned. I also suffered several serious anaphylactic allergic reactions involving serious stomach pains, plummeting blood pressure, pounding heart rate, faintness, swelling of my extremities and shock. I was referred to a specialist and after 4 wks of bloodwork and skin testing, I was incredibly allergic to NOTHING. But I have to carry an epi pen at all times since I don't know when or why a reaction will reoccur. All of this time, I never ever suspected lisinopril as a problem. It was not until one day I was particularly tired and lightheaded and found out that my BP and pulse were way too low (90/50), so I did not take my lisinopril that night (or since then) but only my atenolol. The next day I felt better and within a couple of days incredibly better. My doc has agreed that lisinopril is a problem for me and increased my dose of atenolol to 50mg, which takes care of my BP just fine. Now my energy is returning, my depression has lifted, and I can actually look forward to each day instead of just trying to get through it. I feel like my spark for life is coming back. Like others, I was in a downward spiral and wondered if this is what happens when you turn 50 and if I would ever feel good again. I knew nothing of this website during all of this and wish I had found it long ago. Maybe, just maybe, I would not feel like I missed the last 3yrs of my life.

I really, really regret ever having started Lamictal to begin with. Even though lamictal has greatly helped me with my social anxiety/ocd/gad/whatever it is I have (lol), it has caused too many damn side effects.
I started taking it sometime July and now it's September 21st, so it's been in my system for a couple of months now. When I first started on the starter pack, the 25 mg didn't have any effect on me- and then it started making me really, really anxious. I'd have super big physiological reactions to stress, but then I was advised to take it at night. Of course that started insomnia, and when I increased it to 50 mg I was really sensitive to light. It also caused my eyes to twitch and not stay closed when I tried to sleep- which was really, really annoying.
When I was first doing the 100 mg, at one point I became manic (I couldn't stop talking, I had racing thoughts, energetic- felt like I was on top of the world) and then I crashed. It was really hard going from being manic to really depressed, but that's the shit that happens on lamictal lol.(for me at least)
Anyways, so finally the 100 mg started to level me out- but I still have the rapid mood swings. I also feel incredibly spacey all the time and have trouble focusing/concentrating. Oh yeah, and my short term memory is shot. And my libido- which is really important to me. I hate having freakin' vaginal dryness and not really wanting sex- so irksome.
My advice to anyone reading this: don't ever try lamictal- it's not worth it.

Hi
I have been on topamax for 5 months now. I first learned of this drug after holidaying in USA (i'm from UK!) and after suffering from horrendous migraines for years, with no relief, finally this drug has really helped. However it is certainly not without its side effects. One thing that i have noticed but no one else seems to have noted, so i'm not sure whether it is peculiar to me or not....is dry eyes??? My eyes are so dry all of the time. I am using eye drops 3 or 4 times a day and this is only since i've been on topamax. I'm interested to see if anyone else has noticed anything similar?
Also, noticed facial tingling..(pins and needles like) and feel like i have a chest infection all of the time. I also am very forgetful and where once i was incredibly articulate, my memory is definitely impaired. VERY frustrating and embarassing in business situations....BUT i rarely have a migraine and for that i am thankful!

The first few times taking this drug I had extreme nausea even though I had tolerated most previous antibiotics and pills pretty well up to this point.
I thought it was a little odd, but that it would pass.
The nausea finally did pass, but for the past two weeks I have been taking it I've been doing almost nothing but sleeping, and having extreme spells of tiredness.
Gradually every day has just gotten worse and worse than the next while on these pills. I don't want to get out of bed and lately have looked at the clock to see that I've been in bed for twelve hours at a time.
Now, I'm also in very advanced college courses. I initially attributed my sudden inaccuracy and inability to focus on the fact that I was just nervous about the courses, the material, but each day my concentration got worse, and worse and worse. It feels like I have ADD or something, which I've never had.
I felt like I was going insane when I could not even get through a page of material without wanting to jump up and shake myself around (also because of the numbness I got in my legs and arms). Not like me at all.
I have been dizzy, weak, incredibly tired and cold all the time, and entirely unable to focus all since I've started taken these pills. Unlike many of the other people's symtoms posted here, I've experienced severe chills and cold/ numbness in my whole body rather than heat? Except when I go in the sun, which then feels like I'm burning up.
Today was the last straw when I couldn't even get up out of bed, drive normally I was so dizzy, could not normally read one page of material, and the sun felt like it was burning my eyes out.
And reading some of the even worse symptoms others have had, this drug is not worth all the pain and possible permanent damage just to kill a few of these pimples.

I started taking sulfameth on Monday (so 4 days ago). I noticed right after I started taking it that the nausea I felt from the UTI was not going away, my mouth started to get dry, I've had a minor headache constantly since starting it and when I got up in the morning (a couple of hours after taking the pill) I was very shaky and it wouldn't stop until I had eaten something. Then, last night, my blood sugar dropped. I got incredibly nauseated, dizzy, I felt like I was going to faint, I started shaking, I felt panicked and it did not subside until a candy was shoved into my mouth. It also felt like my tongue was a little swollen. Based on what I've seen, this med should be recalled.

I have been prescribed Lamictal for seizures, and am currently taking 400mg daily, with my 300mg of Dilantin. Had horrible side effects this weekend-nightmares, exhausted, worsening depression, crying jags, difficulty swallowing. Has anyone else experienced mood changes for the worse while on this drug?

had my mirena fitted 17th june 2007. ive never had children and it was incredibly painful. this is my last resort for contraception as everything else is not suitable for me. well since its been fitted ive only had 2 weeks with no bleeding but im aware that its only been in for just over 2 months. i have no cramping now but it was bad to start with. i have actually lost about 4pounds in weight but have a very bloated stomach. i was actually surprised when i weighed myself cos my clothes were tight and i thought id actually put weight on. i have mood swings but they are not too bad. my sex drive is good and i have no spots or acne, so far i seem to be lucky with that. so apart from the bleeding and the bloated stomach, im reasonably happy. would just like to be reasured that the bleeding will eventually stop. i wouldnt mind the odd bit of bleeding but everyday is a bit much! all my friends have it fitted with no problems! i think there is just the added pressure of this being my last resort!!

So I've been on Yasmin for about a year. I have experienced weight gain, and recently (I went off of it and then back on), severe abdominal cramps. I have also been incredibly depressed since I started taking it. If anyone else has experienced the weight gain, did your weight regulate when you got off of the pill? What about the other side effects?

I have been on this pill for almost a month, I starte bleeding on the end of the second week, my doctor told me this was normal. I usually have horrible cramps but with this I ahve been fine so far. BUT....the weight gain is out of control....and the mood swings are bad too, no headaches or any other symptoms. I am very concerned about the weight gain though it reall is out of control, I have not been doing anything out of the ordinary with my diet, and I have no energy to get up and do anything. Is anyone else feeling this too? I am very happy that I only have two more months left on this crap. Good luck to you all, and know that there are other women going through the same thing.

I began taking this drug for a uti yesterday. After taking my fourth dose, I began experiencing a severe headache, nausea, cramping, uncontrollable shaking, complete loss of appetite, and the inevitable panic attack. My panic attack ended about 6 hours later. I was crying uncontrollably for atleast 2 of those hours. It was incredibly bizarre and like nothing I have ever experienced before. It is now 10pm, 8 hours since the last time I took the medicine and my mind is still racing and unsettled, but at least I don't feel as if I am not part of my body anymore. I would not recommend this medicine to anyone.

I have been on Yaz for 3 months and I have ZERO sex drive. I love my boyfriend, find him incredibly attractive, but sex just bores me now. I get no enjoyment at ALL--never have orgasms anymore. Before getting on Yaz I thought about sex ALL the time and wanted hime 2 times a day--now, If we go a week w/o sex, it's no big deal to me b/c I just forget that it's something to do--totally sucks. I'd rather get pregnant than not want to be with my man that way. I also feel totally "out of it" sometimes or just indifferent to things which is NOT me. I used to be on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Low for like 4 years. I didn't notice much of a sexual side effect with it, but I will say that when I got off Ortho, I was as "horny" as a teenage boy so I'm guessing all hormonal birth controls are not for me.

I had mirena put in 15 months ago. This was 3 months after my son was born and before I had a period. Haven't had a period since. I thought this was great and a constant form of birth control. I have a SEVERELY decreased sex drive that has ruined my relationship. I have SEVERE anxiety and depression I never had before. I am now starting to get abdomenal pains. I just realized TODAY that this might be Mirena, and started doing research. My doctor told me next to no side affects, and what was weight gain and acne (didn't get either). After reading this site I AM getting it out in an emergency appointment tomarrow, because I am freaked out that this thing is causing all these problems! I was worried something was seriously wrong with me and my head! You do not know how much of a relief it is to know it's this THING inside me, even though it's so incredibly creepy. Back to Alesse for me!

I was prescribed Singulair to help control my asthma. I took 10mg for three days, but it made me incredibly tired. It was hard to get up in the morning and I was randomly falling asleep on my desk at work. I began taking half a pill (5mg) and intitially this was better. I was still tired in the mornings, but by noon it had worn off. However, over the next week additional side effects began to arise and increase in intensity. I could deal with the fever, headache, etc., but the mood swings were horrible. I couldn't stop snapping at people. When I broke out in hives, I knew the Singulair had to go. I have been off of it for two days now and am feeling better. The hives are fading and my mood isn't quite so gloomy. I expect I will return to my normal self by the end of this week.
Incidentally, Singulair did work fantastically well for my asthma. My peak flow average went up forty points and overall the readings were greatly stabilized with only small fluctuations. Unfortunately, the side effects just aren't worth it.

Only been on for a few days. I feel incredibly calm, however very crampy & nausea. Worried I may have some of the more severe effects down the road. I have depression and ADD and was on meds for both, however am off the ADD meds and still on 25mg of Zoloft. I'm thinking this may be a good combo. They say women with loads of energy (also I am a comedian) calm down after they give birth.
My thought process is that the ring is obviously mimicking my body being pregnant...so perhaps the "calm" I feel is related to the birth control itself.
I'll keep a journal and let you know how things are in a month or two

Had to stop the drug after 5 days. It was making me feel so incredibly bad and sure I was getting ready to check out. I did not have the cough, but did have the insomnia, muscle ache and cramps, made my lightheadedness which is bad really, really bad. I was getting abd cramps and the eyesight was getting strained. AND, the BP really did not improve. I stopped it, and the PVC's I have were so persistent and unpleasant I did return to my 25mg of toporol XL which I would prefer not to be on. But, I have to be able to function at some basic level. UGH. Liam

I just pulled the ring out tonight in the middle of my 3 weeks because it finally hit me!!! The light bulb just came on for me. I had been feeling incredibly sad and depressed for the last 6 months since I have been on the ring. I thought it was not like me, but I thought it was job stress. I was moody with everyone around me all month long...very irritated and not wanting to be bothered. I am a teacher and even my students noticed my moods. I had no desire to enjoy the things I use to enjoy. I walked into my school 2 days in a row and had sharp pains in my chest. I thought I was having a heart attack or something, but then it went away. I am on summer break now with a lot of time to think. Something told me to check out the side effects of the ring. Maybe it was divine intervention. I was shocked and almost cried when I found out that I was not alone. I even saw one person report swollen and red eyes. I had this also and thought it was allergies or pink eye, but now I understand that it was probably the ring since I have never had this reaction before. I enjoyed the freedom of not remembering the pill, but I don't think I will ever use the ring again. It definitely affected my personality and judgement.

Leaking breasts?
I've been on NR consistently for 3 months. I love it. I tried it several months ago and had horrendous nausea that I had to remove it. I tried again 3 months ago and it's been fine. Although, my breast literally squirt milk when squeezed. I know I'm not pregnant. Why the lactation? It makes no sense.
Also, I get to a point just about the day I'm scheduled to remove the ring where I can't stand to be in my own skin...just incredibly frustrated, emotional, over the top crazy feeling. I take it out and I feel a difference withing just a few hours. Starting to connect the dots here....anyone else have similar effects? I've gained 5lbs, have zero sex drive as well.

Wow. This site has been enlightening. I've been using the Nuvaring for almost 6 month. The side effects that I've experienced include nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss (probably from the nausea and loss of appetite), plus horrible migraines. My sex drive has plummeted to almost nothing. The thought of sex makes me feel disgusted and ill. Horrible mood swings - I feel incredibly angry a lot. I feel uncomfortable in my own skin, like the one user who felt like barbed wire was being dragged across her skin. Also, I've had constant itching and burning, plus painful urination.

I had a series of racing heart events for a week and went to my doctor. She said it was probably stress and my heart was very strong. They stopped. I went for thyroid tests. My tests indicated I was well within the safety range. I ususally see a woman doctor who works with her husband, but this time I saw him. He said I was hypothryroid and if I did not take Armour, I would be at a cariologist's office. I got scared. I knew my numbers were good, but I caved. I started on 1/4 gram for a week and then to 1/2 for a week and then to 3/4. On my second night of 3/4 I was awakened 5 times with racing heart. I called my doctor and he told me stay on two. I questioned him as to whether this was appropriate for me and he said, DEFINITELY. I decided to withdraw. I cut back my meds. One night I woke up with a racing heart that gave me a nose bleed and I was very scared. Two nights later I woke up with a racing heart that scared me to death as it was going so incredibly fast that it shot down my left arm. I was afraid to go to sleep and started not being able to sleep. I final reached crisis and did not know what to do. I got in touch with my regular doctor who said I did not need the meds. This was corroborated by another doctor. I have not yet spoken to the doctor who misdiagnosed me and came close to causing a severe heart malfunction for me. I will not return to that doctor and will never even consider taking such drugs again.
I was clearly overdosed.

I sttarted taking yasmin for skin reasons and take it at night around 8pm. Every morning i have been NAUSEOUS until around lunch time. I'm incredibly THIRTSY, and am super LETHARGIC at 24! I have been on it for 11 days but after taking tonights pill and suffering from BLOATEDNESS, and my breats are SWOLLEN and TENDER! I feel SPACEY but not spacey enough to chuck the packet out immediately! I'd never say don't try it but be vigilent. I read the precautions before taking it, but was lulled into a false sense of security by it being low oestrogen doses. The onbly good thing is I am too nauseous to smoke, but also to function.

I can't tell you how much better I feel knowing that others have been going through the same things I've been going through since being on the NuvaRing.
I basically turned into a different person. I am INSANELY tired all the time (and I am usually bursting with energy), I am very depressed, I'm incredibly irritable (to the point of nearly destroying my relationship with my boyfriend), I'm constantly hungry, my breasts have grown to epic proportions (at least a cup size in three months), I have gained a lot of weight, I have disgusting amounts of discharge every day, I have absolutely NO sex drive, etc.
It's horrible to live like this. I yanked that thing out last night and I will NEVER go back on it. Now I'm hoping I don't have the side effects of going off it like others mentioned...
