After bypass surgery 10 years ago my doctor put me on lipitor and I've been on it ever since, numerous times I told my doctor that I was tired all the time acheing in my shoulders,he never once took me off lipitor,I found out just a week ago that statens are very dangerous, that if you are on them you should be taking coq10 to replace the cell damage statens have caused.
Ask your doctor why he hasn't told you about coq10.
I quit lipitor on my own,and feel so much better.Believe me take coq10 gel caps, this 65 year old is a believer in this.

Singulair, montelukast, contains a chloroquine in it's molecular structure. I am praying that the FDA takes this investigation seriously. Other countries are concerned about the neuro-psychiatric side effects of these categories of drugs for some very good reasons.
"In summary, we have used a combination of electrophysiology, ligand binding, homology modelling and simulated docking to define the mechanisms by which quinine, chloroquine and mefloquine inhibit the 5-HT3 receptor response. Our observations further extend the number of receptors known to be affected by these compounds and the growing diversity of targets may account for the broad spectrum of side effects that have been reported by patients receiving them (Luzzi and Peto, 1993; Palmer et al., 1993; Taylor and White, 2004). Inhibition of the 5-HT3-mediated current could have wide-ranging effects in the nervous system, as 5-HT3 receptors can modulate a variety of neurotransmitter responses such as those to GABA, dopamine and cholecystokinin (Thompson et al., 2006b)."

You all seem literate so why don't you read more about LEVAQUIN instead of symptoms swapping.
It is a FLURO (floride) quinelone. The foride replaces the iron in your metalloproteases. The structure is like a horseshoe and its base is like an INHIBITORY neurotransmitter, GABA. So your muscles get weak because of the inhibition of nerve to muscle transmission and your tendons get sore and even brake because of the fluro replacement of iron in metaloproteases.
A self-educated consumer is one who goes beyond the stupid TV commercials. You will find GABA type action can explain a lot of your psycho-symptoms. LEVAQUIN is a dangerous drug. Don't drink coffee with it and be sure you get an EKG before using it as it is a cardio hyperpolarizer.
Above all, go easy on joints and muscles for a month during and after LEVAQUIN. The drug campanies are sharks after your blood. The doctors are so overcome by HMO paper work that they don't have time to read. YPU MUST EDUCATE YOURSELVES IN ORDER TO SURVIVE. America will not survive with a population that knows no science and math.

I was put on Lipitor 10 mg. last Spring about 8 mos. ago. I have never taken medications/drugs other than aspirin or Motrin or antihistamines. Since that time I have had a strange combination of unexplained symptoms arise throughout the months. These sx's included: Headaches, stiff neck and severe neck pain, acute shoulder pain, hip pains, joint pains, severe knee pain (tendon or Ligament problems?) and loss of movement, hair loss, jaw pain and some memory confusion. Initially, I had severe HA's for several months, but attributed them to stress, however, I had never experienced HA's as a common occurrence. Then we went away to our Maui house to get away from stress, HA's continued, along with leg and shoulder pains. At the same time, I started noticing several strands of hair falling out if lightly touched my hair to move it out of my face. The pains seemed to move around my body at different times, for no apparent reason. I am used to daily exercise, living in CO in the mountains @ high altitude, not usually having muscle soreness. Now, given my leg and knee pains have gotten so bad, I cannot hike and have difficulty climbing my stairs. Skiing is out. Snorkeling caused leg cramps. No explained reason for having muscle tenderness or soreness without my usual exercise at present time. When the pain leaves one area it tends to arise in a different part of my body. At the present time, my hair loss has subsided, as also my jaw pain and headaches. However, my leg pains and knee pains are so acute (for no apparent reason) it is impossible to exercise and difficult to walk that I looked up adverse reactions to Lipitor, finding all my sx's most probably might be attributed to this drug. Partially my fault for not looking up RX information prior, especially being a medical professional for many years. My husband kept throwing away the info when purchasing the RX. Too many unexplained symptoms, I decided to obtain the drug info. myself. I tended to make excuses for months, such as: I am getting older, under stress, must be an old injury, not exercising properly, need PT therapy etc.... I am dc/ing the drug immediately and have an appt. with my MD on 1/5/09 to discuss.
