I was prescribed generic Wellbutrin two weeks ago today. I took it for 10 days with no problems except mild headache, mostly pressure. I felt great even after only 10 days and had tons of energy. I know it usually takes 3-6 weeks for the full effects but I was already happy after only 10 days. I thought this was a miracle drug. On the 11th day I had a few hives on my inner thighs and on my chest but I didn't think too much of it. On the 12th morning I had tons on my thighs, entire torso from abdomen to chest, shoulders upper arms, neck and back. I even took pictures to show my doc of the ones of my back. I tried to get in touch with my doc which was this past Wednesday 5/27/09 but his office closed early that day. I then called my pharmacist. He told me to go to the ER immediately. He asked if I was having shortness of breath and I told him I couldn't tell if it was related to meds because I am prone it anxiety and I was a bit anxious about the hives all over. I went to the ER and they gave me a shot of Solu-Medrol (a steroid) in the hip and but me on a steroid (prednisone) pack for 6 days. I only took the prednisone that Wednesday night. Yesterday (Thursday the hives were visible but soo much better, and today (Friday) they are completely gone. I am so disappointed that I had this reaction because I loved taking buporion (generic wellbutrin). I wonder if it's just the generic that does it because I read someone else say that the name brand didn't give them hives but the generic did. I will have to check in to that. The ER doc told me to stop taking so my last does was Wednesday morning. (ohhh by the way I was on 150mg once in morning and once at night, so 300mg/day and I was on the wellbutrin SR kind)

Been on Wellbutrin for almost 6 weeks now. Last week I started having a really itchy scalp, no flakes, just itchy and then bumps would appear where I had itched. My vaginal area was also itchy and I treated myself for a yeast infection unknowingly. This past weekend I broke out in what I now know was hives (urticaria angioedema). First my left ankle swelled (3 inches) and looked like it was sprained, but instead it was super itchy and then became achy and painful. Within 24 hours that ankle went down but the other side swelled up so badly that I had pitting edema in my ankle and could leave dents in it. The third day, still with constant scalp and ear itching, i developed hives and large welts on my inner thighs as well as a large welt on my shoulder. I have been taking benadryl, which seems to help the itching for a little, but not for long enough. Yesterday I was at work and my butt started to itch so badly I had to leave. I had developed huge welts in the creases between my leg and butt right were one sits on a chair! Huge 3-4 inches. I was so uncomfortable. My thumb also had swelled up and I could not move my left hand without burning itch and pain. I finally called the doctor and set up an appointment.
I was told to take benadryl 25-50mg, zantac 150mg twice a day, and Zyrtec once a day to control the hives. This has helped a bit.
When I saw the doctor today and we went over everything, the ONLY change in months has been the addition of the Wellbutrin. I am going to stop taking it today and since my story sounds much like the ones below hopefully this will improve before my eyes or throat swell! Thanks for all your posts.

After two weeks of taking Loestrin 24 Fe I experienced shortness of breath, insomnia (usually I am the type or person that sleeps over 10 hours like a baby), and small brown dots all over my inner thighs and inside of my arms. I stopped taking it and everything went away after 3 days.

hey. its great to see that i am not the only person going mad with the side effects of the pill!
I started taking Yasmin in august 2008 and stopped in January 2009. after 2 months i found i had slight leg cramps and very itchy calfs and underarms that turned my skin into tiny red dots after i scratched them. i also got extremely red and blotchy inner thighs. the constant itchiness and the fact that i felt disgusting, made me go see my doctor who put me on yasminelle. ive been on yasminelle for about 2 weeks now. the itchiness has gone but i have major leg, foot and arm cramps. its hard to point my toes and sometimes difficult to stand or walk. extreme sore pins and needles in my hands and feet are also an issue.
i know side effects are different for everyone, but why are doctors still prescribing something that will give so much pain to people.
im finishing this pack of yasminelle and then stopping for good. i'm only 18 and my life's just beginning. im way too scared to take the risk of staying on the pill! if this is what its like after half a year, what is it going to be like after one year. or even more.

My Husband has taken this all his life of course like many of us have as a child and teen. He is now 27 and started this on Tuesday for a sinus/upper resp. infection. Evening of day 1 with first dose and day 2 nothing. Day 3 he started itching and didn't know why. Day 4 lips, hands were swollen. Tongue slightly swollen. Hives started on shoulders and inside of thighs that night. Day 5 swelling down after starting benadryl but hives all over body or rash all day off and on. Day 6 back to the doctor who said that he had an allergic reaction and was now allergic to Penicillin.
Strange but it is true that you can be allergic even after taking it for so many years beforehand.

Bleeding Gums, Severe Leg Cramping, Yeast Rashes, Sleeplessness, Blurred Vision:
I am a 49 year old woman who was recently prescribed Advair for asthma control. I also have severe allergies. My gums began bleeding almost immediately so I worried that I wasn't rinsing my mouth well enough. I stopped the Advair for a several days since in my mind, that was the culprit. Then my breathing/wheezing/persistent cough came back. So, I started back on my Advair and then started almost immediately having the worst leg cramps of my life. After figuring out that this new symptom correlated to my Advair use, I stopped it again cold turkey. I also am not sleeping over about an hour at a time despite my taking Ambien as well as anti-anxiety meds (I have Bipolar Disorder (Depression alternating with Manic Episodes) as well as Anxiety Disorder). Oh yes, and I developed weird yeast rashes underneath my breasts, on my inner thighs and behind my ears....despite if not being hot at all. I have never had this type of rash before or even been troubled with yeast infections. I also just noticed today that my vision is more blurred when trying to read the guide on my TV (42"). I have had no weight gain...in fact am losing weight..but have been watching what I eat. I don't feel more depressed...in fact, I feel the opposite...kinda euphoric at times..which feels good but can be a step towards mania for me. I decided to do a bit of research on Advair as a cause of the leg cramps...my persistent cough is back but I am afraid to take it now. I guess I need to talk to my allergist tomorrow.

I had Kenalog shot approx. 01/28/07. Two days later woke up, stomach sore, bruised looking, visable lump, back of legs under buttux very painful. Then noticed sore lumps on arms, some large some small, all looking purple like bruised. Also swelling and pain behind knees. Went to Dr. pretty scared. He was upset and ordered cat scan, bloodwork, etc..Everything came back normal, but every symptom got worse daily. Now I am really scared and am like a criple. Can hardly get up and down (severe pain),, can hardly get in and out of car. Large painful lumps now all around inner thighs and more. Dr. had no clue, but could not believe it could be from the shot, as I had suggested. Things so bad, went to Scripps Clinic. Drs there had never seen anything like it, gave all kinds of tests. From biopsy on one of the lumps, diagnosed with liponecrosis (fat cell inflamation), probably caused by Kenalog shot. Unknown prognosis on healing, perhaps will eventually work out of my system???? I know my Dr. would never have given me that shot if outcome were known. None of the Drs I have seen have ever seen anything like it. All said millions of Kenalog shots are given every day, but feel my problems are all due to the one and only shot I got. Upon finding this site, I feel I need to post my problems as many have. If indeed this is a dangerous drug, it needs to be researched. This is now 07/08/07(almost 6 mo). I finally feel that my symptems are getting a slight better within the last couple wks, but still very bad. Good luck to everyone. I will never have another Kenalog shot!!
PS...I am a 70 yr. old female (formerly in good health)

If you are a woman or have a daughter PLEASE READ.......
Please be very careful before getting a Kenalog injection especially if you are a woman or for your daughter. In March my 13 year old daughter received one Kenalog injection for hay fever. Now almost 4 MONTHS later it is a 2 inch indentation with dark bruising all around it. She has also had her period the entire time with maybe a 1-2 day break between them. It has taken this long for the doctors to say the bleeding is from the Kenalog injection. I never would have allowed them to give this to her if I had known of these side effects. She has been put through test after test and no end in site. Now my 13 year old will have to go on birth control to stop the bleeding and there will prob. be side effects from that as well. I was shocked to find this site and now how many lives this drug is hurting. Now my daughter is suffering, all from 1 SHOT.

After three days or maybe four days of taking Prilosec, my husband started to feel tingling, chaffing type feeling in his inner thighs. By the fifth day he started feeling weekness in his legs, by the seventh day he could not walk without holding on to something and felt very strange driving, as if his legs were not working. On the sixth day of taking Prilosec he was sent to the emergency room by his physician for an emergency overview and possible stat MRI. He was given several tests in ER and admitted that eve. MRI and spinal tap done within next few days, all back neg. He is now in a nursing home for PT, he stopped taking Prilosec on my urging 4 days ago, as of yesterday, his balance started to improve and this am is reporting that he is walking better. Before he had what I would call, stroke symptoms as far as leg goes

I'm not too sure. But I recently read on a UK medical website, that "the PILL" can cause stretchmarks perhaps because of a skin pigment and dry skin combination.I have reently lost about 10 lbs. and have noticed some stretch marks on my hips and inner thighs, is this possible because of Yasmin , are stretch marks among the side effects. If so then is there a pill that won't cause this nasty side effect?

I experienced all the above side affects as well. I have ulcer-colitis. I did notice, however, when you start to taper off of the doses it helps if you drink TONS of water....seems to rid the symptoms a little faster.
I've been off prednisone for 1 yr and still have occasional leg cramps and redness on inner thighs, my eyesite is not what it was prior to prednisone. i will not take medicine again unless Dr tells me life or death!

I had an infection on my foot (could have been Staph because it was very aggressive and painful with lots of swelling) and was prescribed 'Bactrim' or Sulfamethoxazole. Everything was fine for the first 8 days. My infected foot was healing.
-- By easy88 | Reply | Private Message meOn the 9th day, I developed a rash that I noticed first on my wrist and then my neck, inner thighs and my feet. I went to the doctor who said to not take my 10th and final day of Sulfamethoxazole and prescribed benadryl.
Later the same day (tonight), the rash has spread everywhere from face to toe. The itching hasn't been severe but it has been uncomfortable, sort of like mild pin pricks in random places on my body.
I'm going back to the doctor's office tomorrow since they told me to expect it to get a lot better by tomorrow. I'd be surprised if it gets better but it definitely has gotten worse.
