I'm only two pills into Biaxin for streptococcal pharyngitis (Allergic to Penicillin). Prescribed 2 pills a day for 10 days. It's 5 am and im really happy I found this site. Thank You all to start. After my 7 am and 7pm dose, I have already noticed insomnia and restlessness. Physically lethargic, but mentally energized. Like some others, I find I can't stay in one position in bed long before I have to move. One person noted sharp pains in legs and arms. I'm actually not looking forward to 9 more days of this. After only one dose, I experienced a sharp pain in my skin above my ankle. Felt a lot like a small hot ember was on my skin or a insect was stinging me. I have never felt something like this except for a time or two where I actually had an ember on me. I had no clue what it was and chalked it up to "getting older". I'll post again in a few days. Going to call my family Physician tomorrow since I was prescribed this in emerge away from home.

In July I was prescribed Lisinopril / HCTZ 20 /12.5. Within one week I started to have side effects. These included
-pain in chest - worsened with high humidity
- trouble breathing - shortness of breath - worsened with high humidity
- slight continuous elevated temperature about 99.6 degrees
- near real fainting spells when outside in heat- granted it was hot, but I've never had these before
- loss sex drive
- urinate often
- don't sleep well
My BP did go down though about 10 to 20 points.
still that was the worst summer I've ever had.
After reading others' side effects, I stopped cold turkey and feel much better.
Did you know Lisinopril is extract of Brazilian viper venom? - no wonder I couldn't breath!
My new doctor has me on new drug: Amlodipine Besylate 2.5 mg. which I hope will do the trick.
Bottom line:if you have bad side effects stop and try another drug - there are prenty out there for BP control.

I was prescribed a generic for keflex (cephalexin), 500mg three times a day for 10 days for cellulitis(skin infection through an insect bite). My gastrointestinal tract went totally haywire as soon as I started taking the medication, bad stomach upset. The infection subsided in a couple of days but started having stomach cramps and the diarrhea continues for almost a month till I started taking probiotics to replenish all the flora in the gi tract.
It has been almost a month after I stopped taking this medication and now experience phantosmia( phantom smell ), in my case smelling smoke/exhaust fumes at random times throughout the day. I mentioned this symptom to the doc and according to here, it is one of the side effects asked me to hang in there for 5 more months before I can consult an ENT specialist.

I was bit by 4 fire ants. Of course I cannot be sure, I was sitting at a picnic table. It could have been a spider, but I'm sure I would have killed it before the second or third bite. One of the bites, evidently was successful with its poison. I was bit on the upper inner thigh. The infection spread on my leg to an area of 7 inches by about 9 inches. There was also a lump forming in my leg. It was at this point when the infected area would turn purple for 20 minutes at a time that I was prescribed levaquin. I am currently at day 11 of 14. I cannot take the itching. There is itching everywhere, my face, my arms, but particularly painful is the orafice for BMs. I put up with the nausea, the sleeping troubles, the acid reflux, the getting dizzy once in a while, the exhaustion in tyring to exercise, my neck and shoulder joint hurting. I just can't handle the anus itching, because you just cannot scratch there. And yet I'm not sure what the trade off is because there is still the lump from the insect poison in my leg. I'd like to finish with this nasty medicine (we'll see if I can suffer the last 3 days) but I will never willingly take levaquin again.
